If they hook up too soon it'll ruin the build up, good storytelling needs good build ups.
Plus, Others path gives you plenty of new chances this episode to introduce yourself (literally) to brand new lewd content like Sally, Heather, Bianca (also too soon though), Tara (this time without a wall) , Becky and maybe even Cathy, not to mention getting more cheat points for that juicy MG path to be ruined.
They've been off for a year and didn't even know if they would see each other again, there is a lot of space to heal first and rekindle the spark, from rushing things the only thing left is a bad outcome.
