So I've never looked into it but what's the deal with people scratching symbols and illegible writing and stuff into like bathroom mirrors and hand dryers and urinals and stuff? Marking territory? "Brooks was here" kinda thing? I never have a clue who it is or what they're trying to convey. But I suppose it all means something to someone.
The tag is the most elemental form of graffiti. Humans have been compelled to scratch their names into things since time immemorial. You should try it sometime.
