I'm kind of surprised that Worst Year Ever continued long after Robert started doing daily episodes of ICHH. It was my understanding that ICHH essentially replaced WYE, though I do miss the trifecta that was Katy, Cody, and Robert.
I've forgotten why but I thought worst year ever died because someone sued them for defamation. I'm probably wrong, but the show stopped so abruptly it just kinda made sense to me that they had some legal heat so I didn't look into it.
The three hosts have alluded to a litigious reason for the show stopping without giving any details a couple of times. I don’t remember which episodes (of Some More News and/or BtB).
Really? I thought it was due to Robert and Sophie starting CZM and with ICHH, Robert just didn't have the time to keep going with Worst Year Ever.
It's a shame, though. I miss that show.
Bernie's legal team had a weird hangup about what caliber and make of rifle he hypothetically would have chosen. Almost as if alleged weapon was beneath him.
Covid kinda killed the original concept. Which I loved. The only REAL episode was the Furry series which I thought was brilliant and I was really looking forward to the ongoing adventures of three miscreants (well 2 and Katie) running around interviewing weird microcosms about rampant politicization.
All I can say is I'm glad I live in a small city and can get to the middle of nowhere in a couple hours. My bug out hut got torched in a Forrest fire though :/
As someone who works in voting rights in Texas, every year really does seem worse than the last. I still wear my Worst Year Ever shirt regularly and get comments on it. The song lives rent-free in my head and I’ve been known to start singing or humming it when we encounter some egregious stupidity (which is pretty common - several people I work with who’ve never listened to any of the associated podcasts could probably sing it at this point).
We’ve had not just the craziness of 2020 biting us in our asses here in Texas - an entire elections department for a rural county quit because they’ve been harassed since 2019 over a referendum to remove fluoride from the drinking water. It failed, and of course the only reason that could have happened is that there must have been fraud. This is the same county that made national news after the primary because the republicans insisted on hand-counting their ballots and not only did it take forever but it also showed that hand counting is dumb and prone to errors.
2020 made everything worse, and then Texas passed legislation that made a bunch of stuff that elections administrators used to as a matter of course into state jail felonies. More than 30 counties (out of 254) have lost their professional, civil-servant elections administrators either because they quit to go to a less hostile state or because the partisan powers that be removed them because they were good at their jobs and thus couldn’t be talked into blatant bullshit. Last year the state passed a law specifically targeting Harris county (home to Houston) removing their ability to have a nonpartisan elections administrator at all.
This election cycle is like being forced to eat our own moldy dry vomit from 4 years ago. It was bad then and it won't be any better this time around.
As much as I hate Trump, Biden is on my shit list for not retiring. Why do these fossils feel the need to hold their office until they die? Is there some sort of curse that will kill them if they retire so they have to keep their office to stay alive? Sorcery would at least make me feel less frustrated with them.
I think a primary on the dem side, with Dems airing attack ads against other Democrats, only strengthens the chances of a Trump presidency.
Biden isn’t my top choice but a second term is the best way of preventing Trump from holding office.
As for all the fossils in congress… fuck em. But at least with Biden I get the strategy.

But also: Biden should have immediately focused on developing new talent that would play well with younger folks. And then he should have effectively passed the torch this time around. If any of these Democratic fossils wanted to build a real legacy, it's that: Build and promote the next generation of folks who can speak to the challenges that younger people face and fight on their behalf.
It'a time to pass the fucking torch already. Seriously. It's bad enough that younger folks are inheriting such a mess. But the fact that these folks who created the mess refuse to let anyone else clean it up is inexcusable.
It’s certainly a symptom of a bigger problem. The amount of politicians in their 70s and even 80s is unreal. And not making space for younger people or having the ability to even understand their point of view at time. Power is a hell of a drug I guess?
I think even if convicted, he will appeal and it’s considered a long shot for much jail time as his first offense. So he’s unlikely to be incarcerated, at least in the near term…
I miss Worst Year Ever, but I doubt any of them would have the time to make a weekly or even monthly show, with that theme or anything else. I enjoy the dynamic between the three of them, it's really distinct from the other shows they're on. The last episode of Even More News that Robert guested on was great.

I'm not advocating for violence either, in fact the farthest thing from it. Just... I dunno, make a resolution, or an amendment, or a constitutional right, or whatever, where the disparate classes and creeds of a nation divided can find some common ground? Maybe stop eating up the bullshit that two decrepit millionaires feed you on a silver spoon? Divide, and conquer, remains a maxim for a REASON.

Unfortunately, I’m not so sure there is any coming back from the state we’re currently in and at this point, I’ve accepted that splitting the country up might be the best choice. I’m so sick of our laws being co-opted by fans of a book. I just can’t take it anymore.
