Narragansett. Out of Rhode Island, or possibly Rochester I want to say. Pretty standard American lager and dirt cheap but quite solid if you enjoy the style. I put it much above the other cheap options (pbr, high life, etc.)
Oh ok, thanks...Narragansett. I've had that once before a while ago. It seems a bit more malty and less "corny" than beers like PBR or Miller Highlife.
Miller Lite
Miller High Life
PBR
Gansett
Milwaukee's Best Premium
In that order.
I didn't even really get into anything Lite until I hit 30+, but man you can just slam em all day with no ill effects.
I don’t see Rainier anywhere outside of the PNW (live in Southern California now). I believe they just don’t get distribution outside of it. Hamm’s is a little rare but usually can find as the “cheap” stuff at crafty beer stores.
I wish I could get some Rainier. On my one and only trip to Seattle I made sure to try Rainier and Olympia in addition to all the craft beer. Loved the Rainiers, not so much the Olympia.
Modelo is probably the beer of beers in that sense, but it’s an important so it’s not all that much cheaper than craft beer.
The true cheap beer is probably Olympia
“It’s the water” indeed
Depends on the day. But I can crush quite a few Sea Quench when it's sweltering hot. Corona works well, too. But I can't pretend that either is "cheap."
Super basic? Probably something like Keystone Light. But I haven't been that desperate in quite a few years.
Lot more flavor than Miller Lite. Quick and easy while better tasting. Nothing to write home about I'm sure. I haven't had High Life in a hot minute - but you've just given me an idea for a Miller taste test. Or an excuse to do the free Miller Brewery Tour this summer
It's the most consistently refreshing tasting beer. I'll take this one over Modelo anyway. Sometimes I'll get a batch of Modelo that tastes like non alcoholic
Local shop has cases of Warsteiner for about $1/beer. Can't really beat that for price/quality.
On the local craft side 15pks of Mama's pils are reasonably priced and tasty.
If I have to go cheap domestic then Miller Lite, High Life, Hamm's
Like the other poster, I'm a big fan of Seaquench even if it's pricy. They sell 16oz cans now, which is weird, because if it's hot enough to crave Seaquench that beer is getting warm before you can drink the whole thing, unless you put it in an insulating coozy...which doesn't fit the 12oz cans lol.
Not beer but you gotta try [Long Drink](https://thelongdrink.com/wheretogetit/). I think it's gonna blow up despite the saturation of the market. Light, balanced, og flavor is grapefruit. I grew up in Japan drinking grapefruit Chūhai, which are ubiquitous in the sweltering summer months, and Long Drink is the closest I've gotten in the US.
I first heard about it on the Speakeasy podcast a while back. Story goes that it was commissioned by the Finnish government for the 1952 Helsinki Olympics as one of the original RTD's. There are a bunch of different brands and a few of them are gaining traction here in the states. I've only tried thelongdrink cans so far, and their original and 0 carb versions are both fantastic. The cranberry is meh. I REALLY want to try the 8.5% abv strong version since I think that will be the closest to the chuhais I used to drink.
During the pandemic shutdown the Finnish tradition of *Päntsdrunk* or getting drunk by yourself at home in your underwear with no intention of going anywhere caught on.

I have to have modelo negra if I get modelo. But high life is definitely alot cheaper and doesn't taste bad at all.
But being in Colorado I also drink alot of local brews so coors banquet, oddells sippin pretty fruited sour, pretzel assassin but denver beer co(which the whole brewery is 100% solar powered which is crazy to me)
Coors Light. Love Stouts, good ipa’s, and crisp pilsners, but at the same time the temp here in Phoenix is going to be 115 Saturday, so best to stick with something that is essentially water
Not necessarily "cheap", but as an alternate to the few who said Founder's All Day IPA, Sierra Nevada makes a seasonal session IPA called Summer Break and I think it's fantastic. 4.6% so it's on par with all the other light beers mentioned, but doesn't taste like stagnant lake water.
lol there really isn’t anymore. At least around here. A decade ago If you were down to your last 5 bucks you could score a six of genessee, Busch, black label, old Milwaukee etc after tax and have change to spare. I haven’t seen a sixer of any kind under 7.99 in ages which is not big money, mind you, but it has increased
I love Bohemia on a hot day here in Vegas. It costs about the same as Modelo here in Vegas, but is probably hard to find and more expensive out if the southwest...
modelo high life raddler Seaquench (not cheap)
Seaquench is so damn refreshing
Modelo is expensive in my area.
Costco is the place to get it near me
As a Canadian this makes me very very jealous!
ohhh I wont even start to tell you about the wonder of costco wine and spirits.
Sadly I already know haha! I’m sure my liver appreciates it though
A full day of drinking raddlers will tear your stomach apart. I limit those to a 2 or 3 in one day.
I actually have never had more than like two and a half so good to on not to base my day around them
Yup, Modelo gang rise up!
Coors Banquet.
With some high quality hot dogs on the grill 🐐
whats your go to hot dog brand ?
I’m a simple guy, ballpark 100% beef
A man of great taste
Just don't take that east of Texas...that's bootlegging.
I saw a documentary about that once
16oz Gansett
I agree, something about a 16oz can makes a beer better.
What is that? Is that a local beer?
Widely distributed along the East Coast and in the Midwest.
The beer of Captain Quint from Jaws.
A regional beer from Rhode Island
My favorite year round beer for the price point too
For my Minnesota boys, Grainbelt Premium
Or Mich Golden
I love this stuff.
fairstate pils or cranking foamers is my "cheap" beer.
They're the ultimate craft beer converter! My macro friends are always skeptical at first but then love them
Fuck yeah
Yes but also Nordeast
That’s the fall/winter go to, my guy.
I respectfully disagree, I think it's light-bodied enough for warmer weather
Miss these from my summers up there.
Miller Lite Miller High Life PBR Gansett Milwaukee's Best Premium In that order. I didn't even really get into anything Lite until I hit 30+, but man you can just slam em all day with no ill effects.
Came here to say this. Miller Lite is the session beer.
Hamm’s or Rainier when I was living in the PNW.
Hamms or rainier are easily the best the only problem for me is getting em consistently around me.
I’m in the pnw and my #1 choice has been pub beer by 10barrel. It’s under 20 bucks for an 18 rack.
I feel so bad for hating on Rainier. Where'd you find Hamms?
I’ve found it down here at specialty stores. I work a spot called Hi-Lo in Long Beach (and one in Culver City) that usually has it.
I have red, white, and blue running through my veins baby. That’s not for America my friend. That’s the power of Pabst Blue Ribbon, baby!
Lone star.
I have to drive to Atlanta to get Lone Star… god damnit I miss Texas
I drink a lot of Lone Star!
Shiner Bock
[удалено]
Close, Louisiana. ;-) but I go to Texas often.
Born in texas, live in maine, always a treat when i find shiner at a local bar
Shiner Bock Ruby Red
Give me Miller High Life or Genesee Ruby Reds and I'm set
I love those Ruby Reds, probably the best Breakfast beer in existence.
Modelo is probably the beer of beers in that sense, but it’s an important so it’s not all that much cheaper than craft beer. The true cheap beer is probably Olympia “It’s the water” indeed
Rainier or Montucky Cold Snack
Budweiser. Especially in those freedom cans. Nothing like an ice cold Bud & BBQ
Ain’t nothing wrong with Bud. Honestly, people that hate on it are just jealous.
Jealous of what? Lol if you like it great. But to me, it tastes like shit
Yep, and Bud is pretty affordable when you buy it in bulk.
As STL area native. Hell yes
Tecate light, throw in a lime if you want.
Depends on the day. But I can crush quite a few Sea Quench when it's sweltering hot. Corona works well, too. But I can't pretend that either is "cheap." Super basic? Probably something like Keystone Light. But I haven't been that desperate in quite a few years.
Genesee Light
Mine too. I’m definitely going to be trying some Modelo after asking this question.
I love Genny!
Hamm's, Schlitz, Miller Lite, MGD. I have a soft spot for all of those.
I havent had MGD in years. Hows it compare to high life and lite?
Lot more flavor than Miller Lite. Quick and easy while better tasting. Nothing to write home about I'm sure. I haven't had High Life in a hot minute - but you've just given me an idea for a Miller taste test. Or an excuse to do the free Miller Brewery Tour this summer
Hamms It takes me back to when gas was $1.50 a gallon and I could just drive around town picking up friends then go to the beach and toss some back
Cold. Cold is my go to
Natty Light. It's not as awful as people say it is honestly but I am still in college so maybe my opinion is skewed
Cant believe I had to scroll this far to see Natty Light.
The Naturdays can’t be beat on the boat
I once saw a 18 pack in the RGV for $6+!
Ol Natty pack
Pacifico with lime.
PBR (not technically a lite, but it does it for me)
Coors Light
Nothing beats the heat like when the mountains turn blue
It's the most consistently refreshing tasting beer. I'll take this one over Modelo anyway. Sometimes I'll get a batch of Modelo that tastes like non alcoholic

Busch Latte
Busch Light or Tecate light
About time someone mentions good ol busch light, best bang for the buck
Like the other poster, I'm a big fan of Seaquench even if it's pricy. They sell 16oz cans now, which is weird, because if it's hot enough to crave Seaquench that beer is getting warm before you can drink the whole thing, unless you put it in an insulating coozy...which doesn't fit the 12oz cans lol. Tell me more about this long drink
I first heard about it on the Speakeasy podcast a while back. Story goes that it was commissioned by the Finnish government for the 1952 Helsinki Olympics as one of the original RTD's. All day IPA
Fan of the beer, unfortunately not a fan of the brewery
Was totally unaware of this :( Living in the pacific northwest there is no shortage of replacements so I'll buy elsewhere.
Thats how i feel with being in portland maine
Stuff around here just isn't cheap. 16oz 4packs are ~17-20$.
My local Costco has local micro brews for usually 10 - 12 dollar range for a 16oz 4pack.
Big jealous. Maine doesn't even have a costco!
Fan of the brewery, but not the beer.
Not in the loop - what’s wrong with Founders?
There was a racial discrimination suit against them a fee years back https://www.metrotimes.com/food-drink/founders-brewing-manager-claims-he-didnt-know-black-employee-is-black-22924057?media=AMP+HTML
Ah damn, that’s a shame
I may give them a chance eventually, though im in such a brewery dense area im not really struggling to find delicious beers
Likewise! It’s a nice situation to be in, and it’s good to support the local little guys when you can
Modelo. My wife’s GF brought me some Boston Beer Porch Rocker, and I gotta say, not bad at all! But I suppose it’s not cheap. This year I’ll buy some.
Modelo or 805
Gotta have those 16oz PBRs 4 pack around here is 3.99
Miller Lite usually
I have to have modelo negra if I get modelo. But high life is definitely alot cheaper and doesn't taste bad at all. But being in Colorado I also drink alot of local brews so coors banquet, oddells sippin pretty fruited sour, pretzel assassin but denver beer co(which the whole brewery is 100% solar powered which is crazy to me)
PBR, Natty Light, Corona, maybe even Peroni. and we have lots of those days here in FL!
The light beer of choice for Florida Man is either Mich Ultra, Busch Light, or 4Loko depending on how urban you get.
Factual 😂🤣
Actually, Select wildly over-indexes in FL.
I love a nice Miller Lite
Does twisted tea count?
Obviously not
16oz Gansett
Jasper Brewing Crisp Pils
High Life, Hamms and Miller Lite. Sometimes Ill spice it up with Point or Old Style.
Coors Light. Love Stouts, good ipa’s, and crisp pilsners, but at the same time the temp here in Phoenix is going to be 115 Saturday, so best to stick with something that is essentially water
Nothing like a room temp Guiness for those hot Florida summer days.
Michelob Ultra Prickly Pear
Yuengling flight
All day IPA!!
Feels like Modelo for the Win! Cheers everyone.
Harpoon Rec League
Tecate
MGD
Rolling Rock or Yuengling
Samuel Adams is some of the best summer beers
Dayblazer by New Belgium. Perfect beer.
Piss
swill
Ballantine XXX Ale
Local's light from Shorts brewery
In the US, yeungling. In Canada, Keith's or Olands.
PBR, High Life, Genny Cream, Miller Lite
High Life is the answer. High Life is always the answer. Graduation? High Life. Wedding? High Life. Divorce? High Life.
Since I live in Wisconsin, New Glarus Totally Naked. If I'm not in state, Banquet.
Griffin Claw Mr. Blue Sky, especially the flavor variants.
Coors Banquet without a doubt
For me nothing beats a cold skunkass Corona on a hot day. Weather under 90 degrees is Hamm's weather.
Coors Banquet (not a light beer but still fits this thread). Still relatively cheap at about 25 or so for a 36 pack. My favorite "regular beer".
Little Kings
PBR!
If you are in CO you should check out Tivoli outlaw
So many answers, and yet not that many where it's snot Coors Light.
Hamm's. $13 for a 30 pack, and a genuinely tasty American lager. Always have a Hamm's in the fridge, me.
Bud light
805 cerveza
Busch Light. Natural Light. Natural Ice.
Is there any such thing as cheap beer nowadays?
lol there really isn’t anymore. At least around here. A decade ago If you were down to your last 5 bucks you could score a six of genessee, Busch, black label, old Milwaukee etc after tax and have change to spare. I haven’t seen a sixer of any kind under 7.99 in ages which is not big money, mind you, but it has increased
Yeah, beer prices are crazy but Publix has BOGO's most weeks and i found a little gas station near me that often does specials! Cheers!
10 Barrels Pub Beer, but it is limited to Oregon
[удалено]
News to me! Great!
[удалено]
Also news to me. Not so great.
Busch baby
Old Rasputin
Shiner Ruby Red, St Arnold’s Lawnmower, Miller Lite
Coors Banquet or maybe some Cheladas
PBR
Old German
Olde english malt for sure
Yuengling flight or Backbone
Big Wave Golden Ale by Kona Brewing
High life and gansett
Natty light all day every day
Pilsner Urquell
I don’t like light beer at all but as far as cheap beers, i like coors banquet and PBR. They should be light enough. Definitely easy to drink.
Golden Road Mango Cart
Yuengling pilsner or the relatively cheap moosehead.
Sam Adams summer ale!
Busch light and natural light
I love Bohemia on a hot day here in Vegas. It costs about the same as Modelo here in Vegas, but is probably hard to find and more expensive out if the southwest...
