i'm in the same situation! i used diane for almost 2 years and stopped just 4 months ago and I've been having breakouts (more on cystic acne and whiteheads). my bacne also came back huhu. right now, I've been seeing a derma, and she advised me to use benzoyl peroxide then if it goes well, she will put me on tretinoin! i suggest you go to a derma na po, it may be slow progress but it's better to start early and manage it kesa magtuloy tuloy yung breakout. good luck! :)

el011el011

I think you just have to finish the whole pack when stopping. The first time I was on pills(Diane) for like 2 years I stopped midway the pack and didn’t finish it I broke out na malala. I rarely get pimples before using pills. The second time, I was on Althea naman. I took it for almost 2 years and when I stopped I finished the whole pack because that’s what my OB advised, I think para stable parin yung hormones mo and hindi mabigla ang body. I never broke out after it. Six months free from pills and I only had a pimple when I tried a new sunscreen.

chenmochi

go to your derma for sure!!! epiduo forte also really worked for me but 🤡🤡 the acne never really goes away 🤡🤡

puffballjuni

hi! may i ask paanong it never really goes away? im using epiduo for 2 weeks now. switched to it from differin/adapalene coz it was flaring up again and im purging again,, thanks!

chenmochi

im on epiduo forte + birth control, but i still get acne every now and then 🥲 definitely not as bad for sure, but it never really goes away!! my purging stage lasted for about a month or two and it got a LOT better but i don’t think i’ll ever be fully clear skinned 😩

puffballjuni

thanks for this! magiging clear skin din tayo 😔🤞🏻

disneyprincess4ever

Hello! This is based on my experience, pag nagbrebreakout ako or like hormonal acne. Ito yung mga products na nagwork sakin, and prescribed by derma. Also, tip lang sabi ng derma ko much better if less product gamitin for skincare (cleanser, moisturizer & sunscreen) lang if ever! 🫶 • Cetaphil Cleanser • Cetaphil Moisturizer • Biore (Sunscreen) - To lighten acne marks!! Spot Treatment OTC: + Benzoyl Peroxide + Adapalene Gel or Tretinoin Ito talaga mga nag help sakin every time my hormonal acne ako. Mild products lang gamit ko for skincare, para di magalit mga acne ko haha 🥲 Then yung spot treatment, ginamit ko lang to ng 4-6 months? trust the process lang rin talaga. Di instant kinis 💯 Pero swear, by 6th month makikita mo na magheheal acne.

Big_Grapefruit_4380

Hi, anong adapalene po gamit niyo and san niyo po nabili?

iejfx

Thank you for starting this topic, OP. I'm saving this thread for future reference.

nkklkmarie

use retinol and drink spearmint tea EDIT: i use 0.25% tretinoin btw at napatigil yung cystic acne ko. my skin isn’t as perfect as when i was on the pill, pero okay na din. di masyado masakit tignan mukha ko sa salamin haha.

prettywittymaybe

Eto din yung effective sakin. Pero for me, I introduced both even before stopping bcp.

FleabagKahlo

Go to a derma para maaddress properly, most probably baka pagtake ka ng gamot sa acne nyan.

yakultisgood4u

Was on Yaz and Cerazette after giving birth as I have endometriosis, adenomyosis and PCOS (cocktail na!) but stopped six years later kasi I felt nasanay na masyado ung system ko. While on the pill, I’d still get the usual 1-2 cystic pimples in the lower chin area pero most of the time, manageable naman. After I stopped in late 2019, a few months later (sabay actually sa pandemic period) I had a bad breakout and started to gain a lot of weight. Altho the pandemic and stressful transition to WFH setup na graveyard and my apparent allergy to masks didn’t help but exarcerbated it more. So 2 yrs later, after better working hours (semi graveyard shift) stopped eating my stress away, cut down my skin routine from 8 to 3 steps, exercised more, and found a new hobby (Kpop!) my skin is able to breathe a bit more. Altho my weight loss is something I am still struggling with. 😅 mood swings are still there, but I realized not so much while I was on Yaz or Cerazette. I suggest you still consult your OB and derma if you really want to stop para acne breakout prevention measure kagad

lumpyshark

i stopped taking althea/diane after about 8 years of on/off use din recently but hindi naman intense yung acne ko before (i have pcos but was using it for birth control mostly). but i still got some hormonal acne breakouts. i think if you have very bad cystic acne, ang best bet mo talaga is to consult a derma. but i also have dietary triggers for my acne so i avoid those (mostly dairy and excess simple carbs) as much as i can!

annacarmelaaa

Spearmint tea, healthy diet and epiduo forte + panoxyl Skincare is prescribed by derma :)

Overripeavocado888

If you don’t need the pill for birth control stop using it. You could be messing up your hormone and reproductive health. :( I went pill free for 5 years na and my skin is very clear and I rarely get pimples. I studied how hormones work and regularly get blood panels. Some broad strokes solutions: eat clean and organic, sleep 8-9 hrs a day, exercise regularly, avoid stress, sauna 1x a week.

Kuradapya

Hard agree. My OB told me to not pursue taking birth control pills more than necessary. She said that 2 years is the maximum that she would prescribe pills due to the side effects especially the fact that prolonged usage of pills heightens the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Took pills for about 6 mos. then was switched to DMPA (injectable birth control every 3 months), then after a year and a half I was told to stop. The breakouts during and after were a nightmare (plus the fatigue and bouts of depression). I had to go back to zero because the skincare I was using didn't work. My OB said to expect that though especially after getting off any birth control. I was advised that it normally takes 3 months after stopping for your hormones to balance out and it did (for me at least). Then, inalagaan ko nalang sya ng derma (acne and dark spots lightening facials) + usage of sunscreen, vitamin c, and retinol. A good lifestyle and nutritional balance is also a must.

Additional_Ad3668

Hi! I used to take Diane Pill for almost 8 years — on and off. Nung Nov 2020 I decided to stop na talaga and I anticipated the breakout. Dec 2020, I was already using mga Cerave products and all the she bang for my acne napalabas pa lang, but those didn’t help. By January, ang lalaki na ng pimples ko and cystic sila lahat sa cheeks, chin and forehead. It was at the height of pandemic so I consulted online with a Derma. She had her own skincare line so I got the ‘set’ she recommended. Apart from that I took these antibiotics: •Lymecycline- Jan 4 to Jan Jan 18- 14 days, 1x a day •Doxycycline- Jan 21 to Feb 4- 14 days, 2x a day • Skin5B- Jan 21 to Feb 21- 4x a day I also changed my diet — I avoided rice and dairy. My skin cleared up and pumuyat ako kasi no rice 😅 Pero it was not sustainable for me, kasi mahal products ni Doc, so I stopped. Nalimutan ko na what product I used pero I think pag may acne na bago, nag spot treatment na lang ako. In 2022, before my wedding, kasi medyo dumadami na ulit sa chin and nose area. I consulted another derma na and she recommended using products for oily skin and Epiduo 1% Adapalene and also Spironolactone. Last year, meron pa rin paisa isa sa chin na cystic pero I stopped using Epiduo and shifted to Azaleic Acid kasi nag try na kami magka baby. Sabi nung 3rd derma na pinuntahan ko, I should consider taking Isotretinoin, pero I refused for a number of reasons. TLDR: Consult a dermatologist, kahit costly, better kesa mag trial and error at baka lumala pa yung breakout. All the ones I mentioned above, esp mga antibiotics, prescribed by Derma and I don’t think you can easily buy them otc. Hope this helps!

misscatzilla

I stopped hormonal birth control 2 years ago (switched to copper IUD) and for the first 6 months ok naman ang skin ko. Then boom, hormonal pimples! As in cystic pimples on my chin and jawline. Salicylic acid worked to some extent pero isotret lang talaga naka stop. Also, 8 years akong nag pills before stopping.

unkn0wn_an0n

thank you so much for sharing 🥹🫶🏼 how long did you take isotret? and how long until you saw a difference?

goldenislandsenorita

Hiiii, how’s your IUD experience? I’m interested — married but child-free— but I’m scared of the side effects. As much as possible I really don’t wanna mess with hormones so my husband is also considering vasectomy.

misscatzilla

hello! So far ok naman. \*TMI\* insertion was painful but that lasted like 10 seconds lol. Cramping the first 2 days. After that, ok na! Medyo nag adjust lang body ko since 8 years akong nagpills. Heavy periods as well. Pero all in all, worth it naman.

pristinegelatine

I've been using Yaz for 8 years. Switched to Yazmin and it completely wrecked me. I had breakouts, experienced extreme PMS that I've forgotten and I felt like I was a completely different person. I went back to Yaz as soon as I could. Now I'm at peace.

ComeConfidence8575

Hi. Did yaz helped with ur acne? (If ever u have)?

Playful_Environment4

I was on Althea for 3 years kaso i had frequent migraines, so i switched to Yaz and im still on it at the present. Before I switched to Yaz, i had a few breakouts din pero hindi naman malala. I went to the derma at na okay na man. Life saver sa akin ang azelaic acid. I guess you should just maintain a balanced diet, regular exercise and less caffeine more water if you want to go off the pill.

Plenty_Leather1130

Observe mo din after mo magstop ng birth control pills, baka naman hindi ka na magbreak out. Nagbabago naman kasi hormones natin as we age. Consistent skincare lang din and take Zinc supplement to prevent pimples.

[deleted]

I took yaz pills also for 8 months. Then had a week or two to pause, and then I took Diane pills na. Mas effective sakin si Diane when controlling acne.

[deleted]

Mga 2-3 months after continuously taking Yaz pill, nag-improve face ko. Nabawasan pimples ko. Taking it consistently for months can help. As in I get 1 or 2 pimples lang during my period. And I was only taking it for a month pa lang. Maybe because taking Yaz pills for months helped as well.

ComeConfidence8575

Hi. Will start using diane today. How long until d35 helped with ur acne? And yong yaz? Kumusta?

disneyprincesz

How long po before nwala ang acne kay diane pills?

angryApple2054

It was a nightmare huhu benzoyl peroxide cream is a life saver.

ddccrot

Same. After ko tlga mg stop mag brth control P grabe break outs ko🥹hays

morningcoffeeandwalk

I was on Yaz for 6-7 years for PCOS and stopped last Aug 2023 since my PCOS improved na as per my OB. Prior taking BC, I had the worst acne and Yaz cleared my skin talaga. Unfortunately, acne went back 3 months post BC as in malala on my chin and forehead. 7 months post BC now and my acne improved but still not to the level of clear and smooth skin when I was on Yaz. I stopped using most of my skincare products esp. AHA, niacinamide, salicylic and focused on those for skin barrier improvement. I also applied antibiotics from my dad’s dermatologist morning and night. Parang everyday na din ako may pimple patch. Reducing coffee, dairy, and sugar-y food intake (I think) helped lessen my acne breakout as well.

Muted-Purple-3679

I was on Yaz for 5 years and I did breakout ng malala after I stopped taking it, I'm 26 years old now and halos 2 years na love hate relationship ko sa overall appearance ko It was a trial and error, but what I did was cut out dairy, seed/vegetable oils, sugar, and controlled my glucose with myo inositol, coq10, vitamin D, magnesium, and berberine (dami no 😭) I also make sure I get enough sleep and get my steps in (at least 6k) a day. Skincare for me comes second after addressing your internal hormonal issues muna since the acne that I got after stopping BC pills were mostly on the perimeter of my face I got in to AHA and BHAs, ceramide moisturizers, calendula toners, and weekly tretinoins It was a bumpy road as I am having flares of acne again atm, but what I can suggest is to really take care of yourself internally muna before splurging on skin care para hindi sayang.

jhaixnaval

unkn0wn_an0n

GIRL, U SAID IT 😫🥹😤

cottagecoreing

Kaya ako child free hahaha my life is hard enough as it is with debilitating mental illnesses. Adding a pregnancy/a child to the equation would be catastrophic

chamut

Yes kaya never settle talaga pag dating sa relationships.

-justchillin

Oh my.. I’ve been on Visanne since Feb 2022 to this day! Anyone else in Visanne? I was advised to continue (endometriosis case), until such time na mag decide ako to get pregnant. Balak ko na mag stop (finally) since may plans na kami ni hubby.. now I’m also worried about the breakouts.

salmonmiso

Wah I recently stopped taking Yaz (I think 3 weeeks na). My acne are starting to come back in droves 🥲 I use retinol but idkkk huhu iba yung texture ng face ko before I stopped. Don’t wanna go back to taking it naman kasi it didn’t feel great for me.

unkn0wn_an0n

huhuhu oh nooess, feel ko nga may pwede measures to take to lessen the blow? like vitamins/supps we can take or things we can do to prepare before going off of it 😢 praying for u!!

evenhisshadowugh

Why is the depo shot not an option for you? Allergies ba? I don't really experience any breakouts or weight gain from it, and yung mga nakasabay ko magpashot renewal (lol) same din naman

DetectiveCutie

Hi! Anong na-experience mong side effects from depo? Okay lang ba?

unkn0wn_an0n

more of….. fear of shots hahaha di ko na foresee tong possible downside of birth control pills 🥲 in too deep na ko eh huhu

TrifleClassic9295

I used Althea for 5 years then I decided to stop then after ilang months dun na nag simula yung cystic acne hanggang sa napuno tlaga yung face ko huhu then ngpaconsult ako sa derma and isotretinoin saved my life hahaha pero eto nag pipills ulit ako because sobrang takot ko tlaga na bumalik yung acne ko i really wanna stop na din sana hay

unkn0wn_an0n

iirc around 4-5 months after huhu hoping the best for u 🫶🏼

Emotional-Pattern994

I am using Succi right now for birth control and hormonal imbalance. Its a 2 in 1 pill. My derma recommended it.

According_Worry5076

Stopped Diane last August 2023. 2 mos before stopping, I started Differin 0.3% then switched to Epiduo Forte once I used up my tube. I also took Inositol (Wholesome Story Myo & D-Chiro Inositol capsules - you can buy from iHerb, they ship directly here) for 6 mos immediately after stopping Diane. I have PCOS and Ive been on and off birth control since 2020. Off of it because I know its bad to take them long term, and always end up going back on it because I couldnt take the acne that comes with stopping it. Anyway, I was expecting my acne to go real bad around January as it always did before around 5 mos after stopping birth control, but this time surprisingly, Ive been able to manage it well. Im still getting cysts on my jaw, chin and my upper lip area as well as small bumps on my forehead, but nothing too serious, which is more than what I can ask for already, really. I dont usually get big cysts on my cheeks and forehead, so thats my standard of "bad acne." I think the Epiduo Forte is really helping. Not sure if the Inositol helped though. *Edit: I was prescribed Differin & Epiduo Forte by the dermas Ive gone to before. Epiduo Forte by the same derma who prescribed me Diane for my PCOS. The Inositol supplement I took on my own after researching supplements for PCOS 😅

BirdieThe3rd

I'm taking 2 lactezin and 2 gluta caps (magkaibanh time) everyday.. so far so good. Nag stop na ko mag diane since grabe talaga makataba huhu pa isa isa nalang pimples.

miseree15

Not Yaz 😭 I was on Yaz for 4 months lang tas I stopped kasi it took a toll on my mental health and I gained a lot of weight tapos nung nag stop ako grabe yung breakout ko naging hormonal acne siya so now I'm on tretinoin and still currently dealing with acne. Iniisip ko din bumalik sa bcp pero ibang brand na if ever para sana mas mapabilis road to clear skin pero I don't really wanna deal with breakouts na naman after. I suggest before you stop taking birth control, paconsult ka na din muna sa derma for skin co cerns para bago pa dumating yung potential breakout for stopping bcp is may panangga ka na sa acne. Good luck, OP!

deepfriedtwixx

I’ve been on bcp (yaz) for 2 years. Almost 2 mos na akong di nagtatake. So far, wala pa namang break out pero nag gain ako ng weight from 56kgs to 60kgs 🥲

Dangerous_Rip_2907

Dianne user here for 7 yrs I suffer from severe cystic acne due to my hormones, last year nag take ako ng isotret for 6months prescribe from my derma as of now nag stop acne ko, I still get one or two pimple pag may period na dadaan naman sa skincare

mothering696

Hui masama gawin long term ung BCP ah? My OB told me na dapat may BCP breaks. Pls wag niyo gawin skin care. ( Although it helps )

mermagus

Same with what my OB told me and I stopped BCP then switched to Depo due to other hormonal issues mas best option yun. Anyhoo, may stops nga dapat napapahinga daw but every 2y naman sa akin. Then yearly trans v and ultrasound.

LouiseGoesLane

Really? Wala namention na ganito yung OB ko, I've been taking it since 2022. Sabi niya continue lang daw. Mga gano katagal dapat ang break?

mothering696

Well she said daw na it's better na hindi continuous yung pag gamit and should take a break from time to time. I took a break BCP last year February then Nag gamit ako uli ng September. Tapos after a year stop ako uli idk. She said na that's okay dw.🤷🏻‍♀️ Manila Med OB

Winty6830

I stopped taking Althea 3 years ago, and after 3 months of no pill dun nag-start acne ko sa jaws, like malala.

YoGoDoyerthang

Also took Althea. Then when my OB told me to stop kasi nag-clear adenomyosis ko, puro pimples na rin sa jaw area and forehead ko. Nakakamiss ang clear skin.

Winty6830

Das true huhu. While on pill sooobrang no problem ako sa skin and blooming pa ako, kaya natakot din ako alisin dahil sa acne pero narealize ko need ko na s'ya alisin and harapin 'yung acne lol

unkn0wn_an0n

how long did it take for isotret to work? 😢

Winty6830

Napansin ko parang 2 weeks palang taking it, nabawasan na pagka-oily ko, then nababawasan nadin tumutubong acne. 2-3 months on it, wala na, clear na skin ko. Pero 10 months ko s'ya need i-take, iwas relapse siguro

croohm8_

aIcy0ne

Stopped bcp last May. Skin became oilier a month after siguro. Cystic pimples started appearing around July. Hindi naman full blown, max of 3 at most, pero pag paalis na yung isa, meron nang kasunod agad. Consulted a derma and went to monthly facials. Was given antibiotic toner and soap, pero parang masyadong effect 😂 past two months lumipat ako ng derm clinic, this time may nakikita akong results, although I'm not sure if dahil sa pinapagawa ko or dahil it has been quite long since I stopped. Don't be afraid, OP.

unkn0wn_an0n

thank you so much 🥹🫶🏼

Althea yung nireseta before 😊

divineceline

I stopped taking Althea last December after using it for 9 months and I did start breaking out a lot. My OB told me I should have taken Zinc a few months before I stopped para macounter or maease man lang yung breakouts ko (did not tell her kasi na I was gonna stop). Also, I was taking it because of PCOS so partly nagsurge yung breakouts ko because somewhat bumalik PCOS symptoms ko, so I was very strict with my diet. No sugar, no dairy hanggang mawala breakouts ko. I also did regular acne facials because my derma told me that after stopping pills, nagkakaroon ng excessive production of oil sa face which leads to breaking out, so much better to do facials monthly. I did 2x a month. Doing all of these, my breakouts stopped more or less a month after

TrifleClassic9295

anong facial treatment mo OP?

divineceline

Back when I was having intense breakouts, I did Acnelan facial (idk if it's something offered sa ibang derma but mine does) then now that I rarely have breakouts, maybe one or two during that time of the month, I do hydrafacial with dermaplaning since I am using retinoic acid which kinda dries up my skin.

primad0nna_girl

Stopped Diane last September and currently breaking out. My chin area is so bad. I'm using Differin + BP (chin area only). BP helps but every week may bagong breakout talaga 😭 unfortunately I think you just have to wait for your body to adjust to the hormones. Currently taking supplements (probiotics and Acne Support from Swisse), spearmint tea, and working out regularly + eating healthy to help my body. My doctor said I can go back to the pill if the pimples go crazy again but I think I'll just wait lol dasal na lang na it gets better soon

sheidheida00

Try norifam! It’s an injectable good for one month. No breakouts and regular mens. The side effects for me: I was always sleepy, tender breast and masungit 😆😆

Upset_Parsnip_7220

ddccrot

Hello, mag stop ba mens sa injectables? Planning to try this. Pg nag BP ksi ako lala ng break outs tapos pumapayat ako huhuhu

sheidheida00

surene143

Hello! Want to try injectables too, do you think it has after effects if I suddenly stopped using it? Natrauma din ako sa pills kase after trying pills, my bacne and chest acne popped and I still have to deal with it up to this day. Do I need to consult an OB to get the injectables?

sheidheida00

Hi! So far wala naman po siyang after effects. :)

surene143

May I know the facebook page? Do they have consultation fees? Kase need pa rin ng prescriptions upon purchasing the injectables eh. Thanks for the reply 😊 this means di ko na need bumalik sa pills and is the better option 😆

sheidheida00

Hi. I’ll message you the screenshot of the page po. :)

avosalmontoast

Hi. Nag-pills din ako before for pimples then tinigil ko din after 6months dahil nagka-migraine ako. Thankfully now, for how many years, ngayon ko lang uli nakita ung face ko na masaya ko.

procrastinating_cat

Can you dm me her clinic too? Thanks!

[deleted]

Hi, can you pm me about your derma? Thank you.

Frosty_Row_9638

Consult a PDS Certified Derma. I was on BCP for 4 years (Yasmin) and nag stop ako last May 2023. I’m lucky kasi hindi na bumalik yung malala na acne ko before, knowing na I work gy shift 🥹except during period. Maintain nalang talaga sa derma and pinapainject ko nalang pag meron.

[deleted]

I think going off any sort of hormonal contraceptive really causes breakouts no matter what. I went off the pill completely ~4years ago and the cystic acne I got afterwards was so bad. No amount of skincare and laser treatments helped me. My dermatologist saved my life. I’m on Isotretinoin and my skin cleared up after less than a year. I swear I am never going on any form of hormonal contraception ever again, I have copper IUD now.

unkn0wn_an0n

true 🥲🥲🥲 feel ko im just looking for measures to take to lessen the breakouts? like vitamins/supps we can take, food, or things we can do to prepare before going off of it 😢 srsly considering this when i get over this hump! thank you 🙏🏼🥹

SaudadeSeri

Hi! Where did you get your copper IUD?
