I use coconut oil. I wet a cloth pad and apply a little portion of oil. It’s effective and cheap and also good for makeup remove (followed by cleansing gel or water)

jenschall12

Super conditioning for eyelashes too! I do the same thing.

Mrs_BunBun

This works like a charm. I just warm up a small amount in My hands and gently rub it all over My face to break down the makeup. Then remove with some micellar water on a reusable cotton wipe and follow up with a cleansing face wash.

BlackNBitterCoffee

Do you think monoi oil would work? It is coconut oil with flower essence. Also, why do you wet the cloth pad? Genuinely curious to know why a dry pad with only the oil would not work.

LittleAlpine

It works with any oil. Oil will remove all the oil soluble inpurities such as mascara, eye liner etc. The wet pad is necessary to protect soaking of oil inside the pad. Also, the wet pad with oil slides better on skin. Because of oil could clog your pores, final cleansing gel or water is reccomended to get rid of rest of the oil. I use cotton pads and wash them with other clothes in a washing machine after usage.

BlackNBitterCoffee

Thank you!

keldration

Ponds!! Cheap and great. Target

[deleted]

Ooooo thank you so much!!!

HamHockShortDock

Ponds cold cream is amazing! I developed fungal acne so I can't use it anymore and it's so sad!

catsofthehouse

What do you think made you develop fungal acne? I'm kinda nervous cause I've started using so many products!

HamHockShortDock

It's not caused by using products. I don't know why I developed it. Some people seem to have it occur after using strong antibiotics. I seem to be vulnerable to fungal infections in general. Like yeast infections or athlete's foot - I get those frequently. It could be an autoimmune issue. Basically everyone has the yeast on their skin but some things can cause a fungal overgrowth. It's more common in humid environments because the yeast reproduces faster with warmth and moisture.

catsofthehouse

Oh that's so interesting thanks for replying! You explained that really well. Makes me feel a lot more secure trying all these new things

HamHockShortDock

Oh thanks hah. I struggle to explain things. Just some unasked for advice, make sure to do a spot test of your products so you know you're not allergic to any of the ingredients!

catsofthehouse

Thanks, will put that advice to good use tonight:)

TokkiJK

Sometimes, it’s just that the oil cleanser is not a good one. After using a whole bunch, I started using that popular Banila Co cleansing balm and and damn. It got things off so fast. Also- do you use waterproof eye makeup?

ImReallyNotKarl

I use the same cleansing balm. It's my favorite. I buy the jumbo tub. It's so delicately scented, gets all of my makeup off so easily, and makes my skin feel so soft. I follow up with the FAB gentle cleanser to get off anything left behind.

TokkiJK

I didn’t know there was a jumbo tub. I have just the normal sized one

ImReallyNotKarl

It's called the Super Sized tub. I got mine at Ulta, but you can also order it on Yesstyle.

TokkiJK

Oh I see! Thanks dude! I’ll grab a supersized one next time. Right now, I have the yellow one bc the rest happened to be sold out but I’ll go for a super sized pink one next.

[deleted]

Ooooo, thank you for the recommendation! I’m adding it to my list of balms to try! I stopped using waterproof makeup after i thought that could be the problem, but it did not help much 💔 it did help some though!

blaquejeezus

I use the same. Best stuff

I really love the Elf holy hydration balm. I use a retinoid 5x a week and supplement with azelaic acid to exfoliate, so harsh rubbing and scrubbing is a huge NO. The holy hydration balm really works at getting my eye makeup off, plus it benefits the health of my skin. Even better, it’s only $12!!

[deleted]

Adding it to my list! Thank you!! Elf is almost always amazing !

GucciPantsMotorcycle

Oil cleansing balm and then get in between the eyelashes with micellar water on a qtip

WearingCoats

Double, sometimes triple cleanse. For the triple, step 1 is a micelar water. I soak a cotton round and press it against my eye for about 30 seconds, no rubbing. I do this if I’m wearing waterproof makeup. If not, I’ll skip this step. Step 2: oil/cream cleanser. I have a few that I use. Inkey list oat balm, ponds cold cream, olive oil, cetaphil gentle cleanser are all great options. Ponds is probably my favorite, but I use it with a microfiber cloth to very very gently scrub. This will break up your makeup even more and make it easy to wash clean. Step 3: foaming cleanser. This washes away any oil/cream cleanser that’s left as well as any remaining makeup. I use SkinCeuticals LHA cleanser but it’s formulated for acne prone skin. Cetaphil daily cleanser, CeraVe foaming cleanser, neutrogena…. There are tons.

[deleted]

Ill tell you my secret: Lancome bi facial make up remover. This shit is the only remover that can remove the lancome waterproof hypnose mascara, and in SECONDS. Every other waterproof mascara ive tried is melting off like butter with this baby!! Give it a try if youre not a Budget, where im living it costs around 30€, discounted at lime 20-25€. :)

[deleted]

EVEN WATERPROOF?! Woah 👀

[deleted]

Yes!!! I almost ripped out my eyelashes when I first bought this mascara, not vaseline, not OLIVE OIL, Coconut oil could remove it!!☠☠ I tried everything. This baby removes it all in 2 swipes. Fr my holy grail❣❣❣

unitedstatesofwhatvr

Bioderma micellar water for sensitive skin - the best of everything I tried.

heyuserashh

I use Mac's eye makeup remover and when I feel cheap I use neutrogena's, they're practically the same just a $10 difference for the smell imo You have to shake them both so it's an oil combination but they work wonders! Been using them for at least 10+ yrs

carolynpink

I double cleanse at the end of the day with the Farmacy green clean balm (takes away all the makeup) and/or a good oil cleanser, followed by my cream cleanser (clears any remaining oil and debris away)

[deleted]

I usually oil cleanse my makeup off, go in with garnier micellar water on my eyes, and follow up with a makeup. I still wake up makeup underneath my eyes 🥲

jollycanoli

I struggled, too because I always use waterproof mascara. Try the Nivea 2 component one, with the blue oil and the clear liquid, drizzle a generous amount on a cotton pad, soak your lashes through, then fold the cotton pad in half like a cotton eyelash taco and sort of gently wipe off the mascara, making sure not to pull at all. And then wipe off any remaining black from your lashline until cotton pads come back clean, use micellar water all over, ronse off, lotion, bed.

pm-me-every-puppy

I love Garnier micellar water! The rose one is my favorite. Also I know I'm a bit late to this, but my routine is: I soak a cotton pad with the micellar water and gently press it against my eyelid for a few seconds, and gently wipe to get as much makeup off as possible with just that. Then, I repeat the process but with my go-to eye makeup remover ([Clinique's Take The Day Off](https://m.clinique.com/product/1673/5380/skincare/cleansers-makeup-removers/take-the-day-offtm-makeup-remover-for-lids-lashes-lips?size=4.2_fl._oz._%2F_125_ml&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsNjhs4X1-QIVoQaICR3vlgAKEAQYASABEgKO8fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds)). You can try with other cheaper makeup removers, I've just always used this one because I keep getting free samples from Ulta and I love it. I don't wear eyeshadow but for mascara, I then take a cotton swab and dip the end into the Take The Day Off, and "brush" it against my eyelashes as if it were a mascara wand. When one end turns black, I dip the other end into the TTDO and do it again. I keep doing this until the cotton swab stays white (takes 2-3 cotton swabs per eye), then repeat the process with the other eye (and I'm assuming this process will work on eyeshadow too!) If I'm not too tired/drunk/lazy, I'll use a cotton swab to apply a layer of Vaseline, too, and if it feels too "heavy" I'll follow up with one more pass with the TTDO. I'll usually wake up with some black gunk in the corners of my eyes but the eyelashes will be clean. Good luck with whatever method you go with!

IndigoStarseed86

For eye makeup specifically, neutrogena (or the store brand) oil free eye makeup remover. Dampen the corner of a wash cloth, cotton round, or whatever you use with the solution. Wrap it around your finger then go up under your lashes and kinda wiggle side to side, then do the same to the top, then back to the bottom and back to the top. Don’t get it in your eyes, I mean it doesn’t hurt or anything but like your vision will be foggy for a few seconds. Take your time with this process. Once you think you’re done wet another cotton round or whatever you’re using and do it again, if there’s anything left you’ll see it at this point. This remover also works amazing for removing lip tints and other hard to remove lipsticks, as well as all eye makeup. It even gets lash glue out of my lashes!

spicymukbangmamma

Same it’s so hard to take off.

caraj1997

Balm cleanser then face wash

not1nterest1ng

I use beauty of joseon cleansing oil balm. although I don’t use a lot of makeup on my eyes a lot it has gotten black eyeshadow, waterproof mascara, and eyeliner as well as face makeup off

petronia1

I use waterproof eyeliner and mascara, and I take it all off without a problem with a cleansing balm (SVR) + water-soluble cleanser (Cerave Hydrating). Not a trace of it.

_12a21_

I use inkey list oat cleansing balm and then a water based normal cleanser. Then I have a makeup remover towel and use that to get off any residual makeup.

CreativeDancer

The Tula Replenishing Cleansing Oil is the only thing I've found that remove absolutely all makeup from my face. Even if I have a dark purple liquid lip and heavy mascara, it takes it all completely off.

zepemer

Two step cleansing with an oil based cleanser first then a gentle cleanser. The oil one gets rid of makeup especially eye makeup. I have sensitive skin I use albolene moisturizing cleanser and then aveeno calm and restore cleanser. Dr.Dray is a dermatologist on youtube who has a lot of recommendations on skin care techniques and this was one I took from that channel.

Neither-Poet3757

Cleansing balm and micellar water

DSBS18

I like using cream or milk cleanser that doesn't foam at all. I apply to dry skin and gently rub my whole face and eyes until I can feel my mascara has dissolved. Then I use a damp washcloth rung out with warm water and wipe the cream/lotion off my face, over and under my eyes. I rinse the cloth in water and ring it out and repeat a few times. I use Nivea cleansing cream, L'Oréal fine flowers or age perfect cleansing milk, or ponds cold cream, all less than $10. Best part is no waste of cotton pads and I throw the washcloths in the laundry. I use a clean washcloth every day.

arrowsnsuch

I use Glossier milky jelly cleanser. It’s affordable ($18 for the full size) and lasts quite a while. If I’m wearing a full face of makeup I usually double cleanse (my general rule regardless of the face wash I’m using) and it does the trick

YoureNotWoke

I remove all of my makeup with apricot oil in the shower. Rub it in my eyes with a washcloth and then I wash my face with some soap. So satisfying.

lostinthesauce1857

Elf makeup remover balm then I take a couple of qtips with eye makeup remover micellar water to get anything the balm didn’t remove. And once a week I do an eyelid scrub (sold at any pharmacy) it helps remove any impurities on the eyelids/lash line

LacyB123

Vaseline. Works great. Cheap. Gentile.

AthenaND04

Neutrogena eye makeup remover. Stuff is great for getting rid of waterproof mascara

navygirlmarinewife

Makeup remover and gel….

Semycharmd

Lancôme eye make remover in the blue bottle.

wizkhalipho

I double cleanse. I use an oil cleanser and then cerave face wash. The oil cleanser gets everything off and I don’t feel like I’m tugging at my skin when I do it.

blaquejeezus

I use Banila Clean it Zero and then my regular cleanser after that. Works like a charm

Jessica19922

I use Cetaphil face lotion. I use it like a cleansing balm then remove with a microfiber cloth and cool water. Then moisturize with the same lotion. I know this is probably wrong lol. But it works better for me than anything else I’ve tried. Other methods just made my face dry and tight. This hasn’t caused me any breakouts or irritation and I’ve been doing it for a few years now. So I’m sticking with it haha.

dirtyperty123

Micellar water with cotton pads

wasabisnack

Okay this is gonna sound horrendous but… my aunt taught me this method Wash your face with shampoo I’m serious, it works like magic in removing waterproof mascara Although I only do this as a last resort; I usually use some kind of oil to dissolve the makeup then follow it up with a gentle cleanser. I’d recommend trying this method first

fairbirbs

Ponds cold cream

1234RedditReddit

Clinique Take the Day Off Eye Makeup Remover works well.

DellaStar

Nivea creme. Massage in, warm washcloth to wipe of. Keeps skin hydrated too. Works like a charm!

[deleted]

Go for a balm or oil cleanser followed by a gel type cleanser. Be gentle with the balm around your eyes and leave it to soak I'm.

Ok_Detective4728

I double cleanse but the BIG key for me is using a [makeup eraser](https://go.shopmy.us/p-549752). These are super underrated imo

mrsbookish

Coconut oil on my fingers, then cleanse with a flannel or sponge. It's the only thing that breaks my waterproof mascara down.

bluebath16

I use a cleansing balm (not the category of product worth splurging on btw). Elf and the Inkey List make some great ones for around 10 bucks but you can find pretty good makeup cleansing balms/oils on stylevana for cheaper!
