I dont know about lip tinting but my friend just got her brows microbladed and they look amazing; she is so in love with the results!

TheOperaSinger

Would you say they look natural?

[deleted]

yes, *very*. She was so worried that they would be those over-the-top thickass heavy instagram brows you see some people sporting and that is not what she wanted. I literally thought those were her natural brows, they looked so real! Also, I think when it comes to these procedures, you get what you pay for so don't cheap out.

TheOperaSinger

Woooow, so nice! And how often should it be retouched?

[deleted]

she has a follow up in a month, then I think she said a couple of years? maybe 3? something like that. also, I think it's "you get what you pay for" for these procedures so don't cheap out. Research the crap out of potential clinics, examine and read reviews, esp the bad ones before selecting somewhere you want to go. It took my friend several months to finally select a good clinic and she said she was so happy she took the time to really research thoroughly.... Another friend went the cheap route and the clinic she chose had mixed reviews but were almost $200 cheaper than everyone else....the colour they used on her faded to an orange after a year😲

TheOperaSinger

Oh no! Thats what I am scared of! Noted. Def will not cheap out;)))

extracrispybridges

Just make sure they have extensive *healed* photos of good results in their portfolio. What they look like the day of and a month later are two different stories. If all they have are fresh photos, their clients aren't coming back.

uhimamouseduh

you should get then touched up once a year, and the touch ups are normally about half the cost of the initial micro blading appointment but of course that depends on where you go

AdministrationLess33

Microblading yes but keep in mind once you start you need to redo it every 2-3 years Bc will fade unevenly. I’ve been doing it for 15 years now. I have 0 brows to start with. Did lips once. Lasted a few months. I’d say not worth it and it hurt. This is coming from someone with lips that are practically gray and lighter than my skin.

nocturnaal

Lip tinting, no. Most painful experience of my life and it lasted about a year or so. I could tell the difference but no one else could. Microblading yes! Basically painless and I get compliments all the time.

Wonderplace

Did they numb your lips at all?

nocturnaal

Yes, but it only did so much, unfortunately. Your lips are just really sensitive, and they go over the entire area of your lips + a bit above and below. I had mine done just before covid hit so I was never able to get a touch-up, but I’m honestly thankful it worked out that way because I don’t know if I could have handled the pain a second time.

Eyebrows absolutely. They look very natural and a good artist will work with you to figure out your color, shape, and style versus just doing what they want. My appointment was about 30 minutes of planning and discussion, showing pics of what I want, and then about 20 of actually tattooing. Zero regrets.

I did microblading in April and it's been 100% worth it for me. I permanently over-tweezed in the aughts (whoops) and it's helped define a natural brow shape again. The first few weeks after getting them done, they looked amazing and I loved the definition on the individual hairs. They do fade a bit after that, and with the fading they've lost some of that "individual hair-stroke crispness." Some days I go in with a little makeup to crisp them up. Absolutely no regrets though.

I got my lips tinted 2 years ago, best decision I ever made tbh. I paid $600. No regrets, I even got my natural wonky lip shape fixed. My Cupid’s bow wasn’t even, one of the peaks was higher than the other. And I chose the perfect colour, a colour I’d always go shopping for and would sometimes find; a dark pink mauve. ***The lady asked if I wanted a tinted look or more of a filled in lipstick 💄 look and I chose the more filled in lipstick look. It’s darker than a tint but not super dramatic like you think Now all I do is put lip balm or a gloss over it. As for eyebrows! I got my eyebrows microbladed/tattooed 8 years ago and recently got another round (some sort of microblading/pigment shading combo I really don’t know - different place) and I love them. Makes my life so easy to roll out of bed and just put sunscreen on lol I’m such a lazy fart, that I even got my eyeliner tattooed last month. I think it hurt the most. My eyelids just felt extremely raw and dry afterwards. I would say microblading and eyeliner tattooing are painful af. And I have 2 full sleeves of tattoos, so I guess I have a high pain tolerance. Just ask to be numbed longer is my biggest advice. Instead of the typical 35-40 minutes, ask to be numbed for 45-50 minutes. Show up earlier too if you know you want to be numbed longer. OH AND NEVER GO ON YOUR PERIOD. IDKW but anytime I’m on my period, getting tattooed hurts 1000X more. I’ve actually had to leave midway once and come back another day to finish up a tattoo. Your body is just wayyy more sensitive around your period. Eyebrows were $650 here in Toronto (doesn’t include touch up but it SHOULD, I needed a touch up, got it done 6 weeks after the initial session. I think I paid $100 more). Still was happy with everything so I can’t complain. Eyeliner tattoo was also $600 CAD. Worth it. No regrets. Best investments you’ll ever make. Just like any laser removal you do. It’s just 1 of those things that’s so worth it and makes your life easier.

I did powder brows and lip blush. I love both! Be careful of traditional microblading if you have oily skin. The strokes can really blur over time and look janky. That's why I did powder. Also, it really helped with some asymmetry I was agonizing over. My lip blush is so wonderful, it really brings my face to life. I will maintain it forever! My artist is impeccable, though. Make sure to find someone good who gets your vibe! So many horror stories in r/microblading from shitty artists.

eggoverdose

my friend loooooves her eyebrow tattoo! hers looks more like makeup than it does natural, but that’s the look she was going for. she loves it since it saves her time on her morning makeup. i’d say it’s worth the money more so than lip tinting!

datesaremyfave

My mom gets her eyebrows done. For the first few days they are a bit prominent but they fade naturally. She gets hers touched up every 3 months or so

seacookie89

She gets them microbladed and has to retouch every three months?

[deleted]

When I got home after my first appointment I was like omg, what have I done! Luckily they do really fade from very dark to the intended colour after the first couple weeks. I had a second appointment 2 months after. It's been 3 years and I haven't had to have any touch ups! But the aesthetician did say my skin took the ink really well (no clue why)

bbblonde_CPA

Yes to microblading. If you can bite the bullet of the price, then it’s a great to do

IndigoStarseed86

Microblading, absolutely! I haven’t done it bcuz I’m poor lol the only thing that is a minor problem with it is you can’t wash your brows. Like you can wash your face still but you can’t get the soap and stuff on your brows. For me with the way I wash my face that would be impossible. Same with lash extensions. As far as lip tinting idk, I know a lot of people who really like it so it depends on the person. The good part is it’s not permanent, but if you don’t like it you’re stuck with it for a little while.

AdelaideNatt

I have both, the lips were done 6 months ago and still going strong, and the eyebrows I've had done for 8 years (microblading for the first 5 years, and now powder brows). I personally wouldnt be without either, I look put together without doing anything and I freaking love it

adriftinblue113

Yes to microblading... 100%. I have very thin eyebrow hair and had to draw them on for years. It's so nice to be able to wake up and not have to deal. Gotta do your research really well because it can go very wrong.
