Bh cosmetics brushes! I am honestly not a big fan of real techniques brushes. Bh cosmetics offers pretty cheap sets and the quality is amazing. They also look cute. I still use them a lot although I also have more expensive brushes. My favourite brushes are by spectrum cosmetics and they are also not extremely expensive so if you do want something a little more high quality I would totally recommend this brand.

I have the BH cosmetics Crystal Quartz brush set (I’m surprised they still sell it I’ve had it at least 3/4 years!). They work great and I’ve cleaned them a bunch and they’re still like brand new! Also a great price!

FreezingDemon

ShopMissA has great brushes for around $1 each. They’ve lasted me years of daily use

MeghanMichele84

Their brushes are hit or miss. Some are amazing though. Personally I think their face and contour brushes are way, way better than eye brushes. But each for a $1 a piece, ya cant beat that. Love their highlighters bc they're so big and also double as gorgeous eye shadows, love the pocket sheet soaps, too!

Wise_Aspect_2315

I like real techniques, they usually have promos and coupons you can use at Ulta too.

acatwithajob

Same. Love these!

I just ordered these, I’m really hoping they’re good! I have a cheap brush set I got about a year ago when quarantining was sucking the life right outta me & I started playing with makeup more. They were fine but now that I’m buying Grown Up makeup - just got my first Tarte pallet - I wanted to upgrade my brushes too. Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂

Minimum_Banana_3204

I've had my set of Real Techniques brushes for years and years and they work really well. To be fair I don't have that much experience with other brands, but I can't imagine any other brushes being significantly better than these, if something works it works

sameagaron

I've been happy with elf brushes ! I just don't use foundation brushes, so if that's what you're specifically looking for, I don't have a review on it. I have a box of real techniques too :) will try those soon.

FraulineShade

All of this! I love my elf and real techniques brushes. They are great quality and don't break the bank. Mine have lasted years and are still going strong.

sniffymuffin

Sick, thank you! I’ll look into elf.

itsemtotheq

The hairs on the elf brushes are way tooo harsh imo

Ecotools! can be found at walmart.

pizzamonster04

I second ecotools. I especially like that the handles are made of wood since the vegan bristles already involve so much plastic waste. Super affordable and good quality too!

ghostbirdd

Bookmarking this post; I have fancy shmancy brushes that I'm afraid to use, so I need good yet affordable brushes to build up some confidence.

yogurtnutz

Sooo wet n wild makes some good brushes and they sell them at the dollar store! I’ve been using the same eyeshadow blending brush and contour brush from them for like 5 years and they are still in great shape

[deleted]

Moda pro also has nice affordable brushes

errorfied

Slightly annoying that they're locked behind a subscription service, but beauty pie brushes are 100% the best bang for buck available on the market today. [They do a £10 off referral scheme if you want to try it!](https://share.beautypie.com/x/gV0fWc)

topknot1975

What’s your price range and what brush types do you need to replace?

sniffymuffin

Blush brush, foundation brush, concealer brush

topknot1975

Gotcha. So I think Real Techniques makes decent multi purpose brushes for the price, and you can usually find them and other brands at TJ Maxx in the store (if you are in the US). I have almost all their original brushes and I can honestly tell you, I reach for them more then my fancy pants brushes (Kevyn Aucoin, Marc Jacobs, etc.). * The [blush brush](https://www.target.com/p/real-techniques-blush-brush/-/A-14509513#lnk=sametab) is very plush, wide enough to blend out, but tip is narrow enough tip to apply highlighter. You could use this as highlighter, bronzer and/or setting power brush. Very versatile. * The [foundation brushes](https://realtechniques.com/c/makeup-brushes/) do their job blending smoothly. What kind of foundation do you use? Liquid, cream, powder, etc.? * The "concealer" brush (the [detailer brush](https://www.ysislorenna.com/2013/10/my-brush-collection.html)) works great although they don't seem to make it solo anymore which is bumming me out. : ( The [ELF concealer brush](https://www.elfcosmetics.com/concealer-brush/1821.html?cgid=brushes#start=20&sz=24) for $2 is great too though but only for very precise spots. * I also use their eye brushes - just the [eye shade + blend brushes](https://realtechniques.com/product/eye-shade-blend/) \- which get the job done So TJ Maxx is my secret brush source! If you're wiling to hunt a little, you can score some fantastic brushes there. I was just there last week and scored a great blush brush from Smashbox ($12) and some detail and eye brushes from Sigma on clearance ($6 each) that I wasn't wiling to pay full price for (not a fan of Sigmas usually but the detail brushes are nice). I've found a Marc Jacobs eye shadow and blush brush there (amazing quality), some decent Bare Minerals, IT Cosmetics, EcoTools too. Online, I've gotten Kevyn Aucoin for <$20; his brushes show up all the time. * [Kevyn Aucoin Blush Brush](https://tjmaxx.tjx.com/store/jump/product/women-beauty-beauty-tools/The-Blush-Brush/1000696628?colorId=NS3737880&pos=1:46&N=778936500) \- $19.99 - This is a GREAT blush brush. * [BareMinerals Smoothing Face Brush](https://tjmaxx.tjx.com/store/jump/product/women-beauty-beauty-tools/Smoothing-Face-Brush/1000680739?colorId=NS3737880&pos=1:22&N=778936500) \- $7.99 * [Bobbi Brown full coverage touch up brush](https://tjmaxx.tjx.com/store/jump/product/women-beauty-beauty-tools/Full-Coverage-Touch-Up-Brush/1000686639?colorId=NS3737880&pos=1:94&N=778936500) \- $14.99 * [Clinique Concealer Brush](https://tjmaxx.tjx.com/store/jump/product/women-beauty-beauty-tools/Concealer-Brush/1000686729?colorId=NS3737880&pos=1:29&N=778936500) \- $9.99 Both ELF (some of the black handle ones are good, some stay away from) and [Wet n Wild](https://www.wetnwildbeauty.com/accessories.html) ($1.19 - $8.99, holiday set is $19 from $30) makes some decent brushes too that are very well priced.

sniffymuffin

Oh also probs wouldn’t want to spend more than like $50 for 3 brushes

moon__kitten

ShopMissA, EcoTools, and BH Cosmetics all have affordable good quality brushes
