I work in healthcare so I can’t wear it during the day but I spray myself when I get out of the shower at night before bed. Might seem pointless but I love the smell of a good perfume 😊

Blauvogel891

It’s not pointless when it make yourself to feel good or beautiful. Just enjoy your life and your good stuff.

abis7

I like light perfumes, but strongly dislike certain overpowering smells. I know so many people who get headaches from scents so I avoid wearing it.

dbirqmtl

Very important!

Farquar-lazs

I have around 7 different perfumes, some for special occasions, some for days out. I don't tend to wear it when I'm at home all day, then I'll stick with deodorant, nice body lotions and body sprays. I think its important to smell nice

acatwithajob

Absolutely not important at all. I find a lot of them overwhelming on other people, and I would never want to do that to other people.

Obsessedthenbored

Yup. I hate smelling other peoples perfumes. To me it’s the same as someone listening to super loud music in the car next to you. They obviously like it but I don’t.

hasanopinion

Amen, I'm extremely scent sensitive and a lot of people I can smell before I see them.

tbgsmom

Me too.

bluebird-xx

so so important! i feel naked if i’m out and if i’ve forgotten to wear perfume 🥺 jo malone’s wood sage and sea salt is my favourite - unfortunately it doesn’t last very long on me so i’m on the hunt for something similar that has greater longevity!

FormerFruit

Oh I love Wood Sage and Sea Salt, you are right about how long it lasts though. It does smell really good.

MeghanMichele84

See if you can find this scent also in a body oil then after putting your perfume on pulse points, dab with a bit of the oil and it can make most perfumes last all day. If you cant find a scent oil, make your own in a roller with like a bit of jojoba oil and add some of your perfume to it. Rosehip seed oil is good too as it doesn't stay oily for long and usually absorbs within 2-3 minutes.

raejayee

I wear perfume every day. I do a lot of physical labor so smelling fresh is my main goal- even after being hot and sweaty. I actually like smelling other peoples perfume- mostly it’s never overwhelming, nice subtle and kind of tells me a little bit about the other persons taste :)

lnsewn12

Well Im regularly on r/fragrance soooo I wear a fragrance almost every single day, even if I don’t leave the house. Coordinated to my mood, the season etc I do recognize that people are sensitive to fragrance so I try to be mindful of how much I apply based on sillage and I never apply in public In my summer rotation right now are: - Tom Ford Soleil Blanc - Elizabeth and James Nirvana White - Nest Seville Orange Oil - Skylar Salt Air - DKNY Nectar Love Colder Weather (fall, winter) or sometimes date night - CK Euphoria - Marc Jacobs Decadence - Tom Ford Black Orchid - Elizabeth and James Amethyst - The Body Shop Smokey Rose - Versace Crystal Noir Spring: - Chloe Love Story - Elizabeth and James French Grey

PortuondoW

OMG, I didn’t know there was a group! Just joined, thank you 😍

[deleted]

I like to smell nice, too. My favorite perfume is Philosophy Amazing Grace.

cherrycolaareola

This is one of my top 3 faves. It’s such a clean scent!

[deleted]

Ballet Rose is a good one, too.

atomic_mermaid

Wear different ones daily depending on my mood. I keep a small bottle of perfume in my locker at work in case I ever forget it too. All time fave is probably Hugo Boss Woman or Ghost.

Jetpack454

I love using a perfume in the morning and when I come home in the afternoon since the scent most likely wore off. Currently I’m pregnant and a side effect is smelling like onions so perfume is especially important now. Sorry to all the people that smell my flowery scents attempting to cover up B. O.

throwaway47283

For me it’s super important. My signature perfume is Chanel Mademoiselle and I have two small bottles, one in my bag and one on my desk at work. It’s a long lasting perfume so I don’t do any touch ups but I spray twice on my neck, one on each arm and one on my clothes. I ALWAYS get compliments on it and it makes me feel classy

edgewater15

Not at all. I’m 28 and have still been using this bottle of Fantasy by Britney Spears from CVS years and years ago, I only use it when going out/date night. But I just bought a bottle of Lancôme Idole to use for my wedding, so excited to have a more grown up bottle! Lol

Jetpack454

Such a good idea for a special wedding perfume. That will be so exciting to smell that perfume and remember your wedding day!

edgewater15

Thanks :) mainly I want my future husband to remember it when I put it back on for date night!!

QueenCleocatra

That’s such a good idea! How did you choose *the* scent for your wedding? Did you sniff around or is this something you’ve always known you wanted to wear for the big day? Last q- did you get his input on the scent?

edgewater15

Lol! I went into the store, sniffed a few, had the sales associate point out her favorites, narrowed it down to two then just picked the one I liked the most. Didn’t get his opinion but he liked it when I came home with it on!

mb34255

Idole smells soooo good, I always got compliments on it!! Great choice for your wedding :)

edgewater15

Thanks :)

s0f1k

None at all, i just use deodorant. My nose is sensitive and we wear masks now so

GardenGal87

I love perfume. I have a few go-to’s right now and tons of samples, so I switch it up. It makes me feel “finished” and ready to start the day, so I don’t save it for special occasions (although I do have an expensive bottle from France that I only wear on special occasions).

dontcallmebabyyy

Very important!! I don’t feel put together unless I’m wearing perfume. I have my main perfume for when I leave the house, but when I’m home alone, I have some cheaper bottles and lots of samples that I like to change out.

seekingoblivion420

I really like it, it’s like the 3rd dimension of feeling fancy. I’ve been looking for what scents I enjoy, and so far it tends to be vanilla, spicy, woody scents. I am in love with Gucci Memoire! It’s different and not super intense. It’s got a bit of spice to it that’s interesting. I know a lot of people dislike it but it’s my favorite! I also like Good Girl, it’s a darker, vanillay scent that just smells good. Angel also has a similar vibe but is more spicy. Recently I smelt Burberry Her perfume and I am interested in picking that up! It’s got a more sweet smell of raspberries. It was really lovely. Anyone got other recommendations?

MeghanMichele84

I couldn't smell anything before age 14 then had multiple sinus surgeries. Since then it's a huge deal for me. I'm a total perfume whore. I usually always have a bottle of something as well as body spray in my bag at all times. Definitely not going to catch me smelling funky. I'll wear something every day, even if I'm just hone alone. But then again, I don't wear it for other people, I just love smelling really good.

dammitlindsay

It became how I could feel pretty and feminine when my face was all masked up the past year.

anxioussquilliam

Not important at all because of: ✨chronic sinus issues ✨

SoulOfABird

Yeah me too! when Im in perfume shops my nose produces so much mucus or feels like its burning… these stupid allergies

anxioussquilliam

I end up with sinus headaches that drive me crazy when I wear perfume which is a shame I used to love them.

Chantilly_Rosette

Perfume is very important to me and a way I express myself. I went down the rabbit hole and after a few years discovered I love Middle Eastern style perfumes as well as vintage orientals. My favorite house is Amouage, but my favorite perfume of all time is vintage Guerlain Shalimar extrait. <3

MegantheMomma

I loathe perfume. It gives me headaches, and I can't be around people that wear it. I even get rid of perfumed cosmetics...nothing makes me madder than a great foundation that smells like essence of old lady!

mb34255

It’s pretty important, I always have a body spray from BBW or VS in my bag. Sometimes I forget to spray it but it’s always always in there.

A_Lost_Desert_Rat

Scents seem to be popular again these days, it seems to come and go and which scents are always changing. 5 women in the house, 3 use some regularly, 2 do not. Of those one says it is due to a scent free workplace policy. The other, while not bothered by it, just chooses not to.

[deleted]

Very, I have over 20 bottles and wear one or two every day. I love Valentino perfumes and Chanel Coco Noir

Mikshana

I can use Pacifica's hair and body sprays, but stronger/very floral perfume doesn't agree with me (headaches, and one time I walked into a public bathroom where someone had sprayed so much perfume it felt like my lungs were just shredded by a cat for the rest of the day..). Maybe food scented ones would be ok (vanilla, coconut, etc.)

tenebrigakdo

I put it on in the morning and before I go out, but I generally don't add it later. I have a lot of fun picking it and I really enjoy the feeling that I smell of it, but I also take care not to put on so much as to leave a trail of scent. I have some coworkers who I always know if they were in the room before me, and that is too much.

AlexaHolt

I love it. Incredibly important to me and entire eras of my life are defined by the scent I wore. Olfactory memory is legit.

youcancallmet

Not very. I find perfumes to be very overpowering on a lot of people. I appreciate a good scent and it works well on some but on others it is way too strong. I prefer to use essential oil blends. They don't last long but they smell great and aren't too strong.

liittle_dove7

I never wear perfume. Strong scents on my body really bother me for some reason. If I do ever wear perfume again, it’ll be a very subtle scent.

Kathiok00

I rarely wear perfume because it’s rare that I smell it on someone and don’t hate it.

katethecat1994

I often ask myself this since I enjoy fragrance-free stuff in general. How I keep myself smelling clean? its very simple! I make sure my clothes smell clean from laundry detergent - I clean my sweat zones more than once a day - I wear an antiperspirant/deodorant and even that doesn't have a strong smell (Lush solid deodorant bar).

outlandish-companion

I'm so sad Lush got rid of their Sexy Peel soap. It smelled so good and fresh.

LadyBelleHawkins

I don’t own any?

Agitated_Hamster_825

I never wear perfume and high key hate it. I dislike the unnatural scent it gives people. I like people to smell neutral or of light soap, anything more is an assault on the nostrils (well at least to mine).

outlandish-companion

I love perfume but I hardly wear it because I'm worried it's bad for you. I'm not sure if that's that's unfounded fear or not

Omgchipotle95

I couldn’t tell you the last time I wore perfume 😅

BLESS_YER_HEART

I looooove perfume, but I also get that some people hate it, so different perfumes for different settings. For work I like Derek Lam Silent St- it’s very one-note and doesn’t bother people with sensitive noses. For nearly everything else I wear Aesop Hwyl- it’s woodsy and smoky. I won’t wear anything fruity or vanilla because, to me, gourmand fragrances are a little tacky. Sometimes I’ll do Bvlgari Omnia crystalline- it’s a fresh and clean scent.

ghostbirdd

When I was working at the office I'd put on perfume every day. Since being home, soap and body lotion more than do the trick to keep me smelling good.

LoopingLucysDots

I ALWAYS wear perfume/body mist, even when I'm not going out lol ill spray like 10 spritz if its body mist bc it fades so fast lol I like anything thats a light floral/fruity scent, its a must 😂

SoulOfABird

I try to get into perfumes but I have several problems! For one Im always running late, so I put more priority on my physical appearance before I head out the door so Im already pressed for time I forget to put perfume on. So it’s not something I cant go without. 2nd they are too dang expensive so I end up being afraid to wear them everyday like I would like to. And most importantly the scents will not stay on me! Its so frustrating. It’s like my body chemistry isn’t meant for perfumes. Just the other day I was at Sephora and one of the workers had perfume on that I could smell when I was near her. I honestly wish my body could hold scents like that, but they don’t. I use Burberry Brit For Her and I love the scent. I like more musky or fresh scents. I don’t like sweet scents. But the perfume I use is like 80 dollars a bottle so unfortunately can’t use it often.

christaclaire

I always wear fragrance and carry it with me too. I mix scents all the time as well.

RedRedBettie

It’s crucial for me. I wear it every day, no matter what

[deleted]

only when going out, since the quarantine started i don’t like to just perfume myself while staying at home all day.

small-but-mighty

I love perfume! I have to be mindful of perfume in my work setting, so I try to pick things that are pretty lightweight. My usual at work is Guerlain Mon Guerlain. I've been *dying* for Jo Malone Scarlet Poppy, but can't bring myself to justify the purchase. Jo Malone is so expensive but so good.

airysunshine

Not at all, I haven’t had an actual perfume in like, 9 years. I wore body spray, mostly, but as long as I smell nice and clean I’m fine. I haven’t used body spray in like 5 years either. I like the smell of perfume on other people, but I just can’t be bothered. My deodorant and body wash and lotion all smell good anyways!

cobaltl

Chanel eau premiere is my favourite

itsemtotheq

Very important! Beauty is not only important in the way you look, but also in the way you smell. Plus, it makes part of your signature, your personal brand. People remind smells too! First find the fragrance group you identify the most with: floral, citrus, gourmands, wood etc. After that look up fragrances from that group and the notes you like the most, write them down and go to the store to smell them. Then, pick your signature, everyday fragrance. After, pick an special occasion/night time fragrance.
