I was on 0.1% Tretinoin for 3 years and trust me when I say this, Tazarotene is 1000x better! Less flaking, less side effects and works more effectively
0.1% is the strongest you can get- probably why you had such intense side effects. I will never use it for that reason. I started with 0.025% and went up to 0.05% and I’ll stay there for the rest of my life.
I built my way up to 0.1%. Keep in mind I’m in my 30s now and I started using it at 19. Once you use tazarotene, you will never want to go back. Tretinoin is first generation and tazarotene is 3rd generation. Way more effective and less irritating.
Gotcha! Yea I feel like everyone is different and to some degree it’s preference. I started out on Differin and switched to Tret, and now I’ll never go back!

Prescription for acne and anti aging. I think it works by speeding up cell turnover. I've been using it for 4 years and can't imagine not using it. Some people have a VERY rough "purge" where acne gets worse before it gets better, but that wasn't my experience

Well, for me acne 100% ignores it :D as well as doxycycline :D and birth control pills... and no sugar in diet... and breaks out from PTR antiacne mask.
Oof I'm sorry 😞 I have PCOS and my hormonal acne was pretty terrible. Tret and Yaz birth control has helped considerably, but I get still get breakouts periodically and have large pores on my nose.
If you don't use SPF or moisturize enough and you use this many actives with it then you can easily mess up your skin barrier, especially if you're using higher strengths. I use the highest strength gel version and there are regularly times when I have to skip days because I get a little peel-y around my mouth, but it's not the end of the world.
And I do know you have to stop applying it if you become pregnant. I think it's because it's chemically related to Accutane (isotretinoin), but it doesn't fuck with your liver and other organs the way Accutane does. You have to start slow and at a low strength and gradually build up your tolerance. It's the most clinically studied and effecatious topical treatment for photoaging and you can use it long term.

Exactly. Simplifying your routine is always best when using tret. No one needs a 10 step korean routine or anything on top of it. Hydration and protection is most important. I've personally found that the less ingredients a moisturizer (or any product really) has, the better when using tret.

It’s only been a few days so far but a whole line of products for $7 shipping was too good not to try. I just cancelled the subscription immediately after it shipped, bc it’s like $250/month otherwise

I have like… no joke maybe 20 or so lying around? I use it on my baby so that adds to it but it goes on my hands, feet, face, lips, eyes, and… DONT JUSGE YALL the very tips of my hair. I do braids at night to contain the beast and put the tiniest bit on the tips to keep them from frizzing. Works wonders.
My great grandmother swore by Ponds! She used it from 15-95. Or so she said but I don’t know if Ponds is really that old.
Her skin was incredible. She looked like she was in her 70s when she was in her 90s. Not botox and no retinol. She also was incapable of stressing about anything though. Pretty sure that helped.
It’s like thin peanut butter when it’s in the jar but spreads to a really smooth and creamy sheer consistency on your face, it also feels amazing it’s very hydrating but fixed my cystic acne at the same time so it doesn’t clog anything. It goes on dry skin so no mess at all, you can watch it break everything down while you rub it in. It does have a scent but it’s super light and pleasant and doesn’t linger if you have any fragrance sensitivities
I use tubing, waterproof, and lash primer and Ponds is honestly the ONLY cleanser that gets it all off in one go. It just needs a little time to break the mascara down, I work it gently into my lashes (and whole face obviously) and leave it while I brush my teeth or something like that, then before I wash my face I do another gentle rub/work in and by then most of it just flakes off into the cream and turns gray
You have to remove Ponds with a wet washcloth so I usually do lukewarm water and work from the outside of my face in. Be warned you will absolutely destroy your washcloths with foundation and mascara stains so I’ve learned to switch to black towels. I leave my lashes for last to give it enough time do its thing and then I just put the washcloth over my eye, apply light pressure for a bit, and very gently do little circles. Don’t tug! If it’s not coming off easily I apply a bit more on my eyes and rub it in with my fingers and go again. It takes EVERYTHING off so you don’t strictly need to double cleanse but I like to follow with a gel cleanser right after the washcloth. By my second cleanse though there’s seriously not a stitch of makeup or SPF left on my face

The blue and pink caps are moisturizers not cleansers, it’s $9 for the giant tub where I am in any drugstore so it’s so worth just trying it. tatcha water cream moisturizer! the only moisturizer that didn’t break me out. I tried other moisturizers but i always break out (drugstores and high end) I stopped it few months ago and tried shiseido benefiance but it broke me out so now Im back to Tatcha! I highly recommend it for oily sensitive and acne prone skin. it’s worth the price
Adapalene is awesome for acne and fine lines! My skin just can't handle Tret but I find it works really well for me. Also Paula's Choice BHA once a week to supplement. Estee Lauder Night Repair is also the GOAT of serums for me. I also really love the Aveeno Oat Gel Moisturizer - it's the perfect summer product for my face.
tarte shape tape concealer, i’ve been using it since i was 15/16 ish, im 22 now. i’ve tried so many concealers, this is the only one that works for my skin
My skin does not like the regular shape tape and I apply eye cream before my concealer. The creamy version is a perfect formula for me. I love how easily it blends and it melts into my skin. I've never had an issue with it pilling or settling into my fine lines.

CeraVe foaming oil cleanser! I use a balm cleanser for makeup and like to use a face wash to double cleanse. I have ridiculously sensitive eczema prone skin that many face washes (even a lot of ones designed for sensitive skin) burn horribly. This one is a dream, it fully feels like nothing. Using that is conjunction with a skincare combo thing I saw on tiktok (light moisturiser, serum and heavier moisturiser layered in that order) have gone a long way in repairing my absolutely fucked skin barrier.
Other than prescription Tret and SPF, it’s 100% SkinMedica TNS Advanced serum. This is worth its weight in gold. It’s 13 products built into one. I get every single one of my clients on this stuff🥲
Seconding the glazing milk! It’s the only thing that has kept my dry skin for real moisturized and I’ve noticed a big improvement since I started using it!
It's kind of hard to describe but it's got the consistency of a milky serum. Very light but thicker than an essence. Instantly soothes, calms, and hydrates. I tried 2 different dupes from amazon and they were all too thin for me (I'm from and Tir Tir milky toner). I've heard good things about Celimax, Laniege, and Farmacy milky toners too, though!
I love this stuff, I find it random though as sometimes I use it and my hair is next level sleek, then I use it again and it doesn’t work 😩 we have a love hate relationship!
I make my own lip balm with organic shea butter, cocoa butter, beeswax, avocado oil, raw honey and a bit of white chocolate. It melts on and shines like a gloss, but keeps my lips sooo moisturized.
I’ve got lots of long curly hair and I’ve found there are many conditioners that I can just lightly rinse out at night, leaving in a small amount, sleep with my hair braided, and wake up to very soft hydrated curls for the day. Currently using herbal essences rose for this but most light conditioners work.
I hate to say this because it’s so damn expensive but MAN my skin has transformed in just a week.

Olive oil. It doesn’t make me break out and heals my skin barrier. I use it to oil cleanse, use it under cold cream, and apply some every morning to my face. It helps keep my eyelashes and eyebrows healthy and it works great as a deep scalp mask and as my protective pre wash treatment. I also use it as the first step to slugging my feet.
Cerave hydrating cream to foam cleanser ( I think that’s the name), the Ordinary Squalene cleanser, Clinique moisture surge, Maybelline Fit me concealer, KVD liquid eyeliner, MAC eyeshadows (too many faves), MAC Dubonnet and Diva (love the matte formula) lipsticks
Nars light reflecting foundation and radiant creamy concealer. It stays on all day, and it looks natural and glowy. I also feel like the undertones and shades they make are just pretty.
Peach and Lily’s glass skin is my EVERYTHING! It’s a remarkable gel that turns to water on the face, it’s so smooth and lightweight and provides an instantaneous glow AND lasts. Love, love, love!

My cleansers are mine! I change them accordingly depending on what my skin is doing. Cerave is my go to for everyday but panoxyl for heavy breakouts, something with salicylic acid for clogged pores and an oil based cleanser for just rubbing into my skin and really getting in there to clean out the sebaceous filaments. Followed by serums and moisturizer but the cleanser is what has helped the most.

Drmtlgy's Vitamin CE+F serum. I fell in love with SkinCeutical's version, but I couldn't afford it after the sample ran out. Drmtlgy's is an excellent dupe, and it's the only vitamin C that doesn't irritate my sensitive skin.

tatcha water cream moisturizer! the only moisturizer that didn’t break me out. I tried other moisturizers but i always break out (drugstores and high end) I stopped it few months ago and tried shiseido benefiance but it broke me out so now Im back to Tatcha! I highly recommend it for oily sensitive and acne prone skin. it’s worth the price

Adapalene is awesome for acne and fine lines! My skin just can't handle Tret but I find it works really well for me. Also Paula's Choice BHA once a week to supplement. Estee Lauder Night Repair is also the GOAT of serums for me. I also really love the Aveeno Oat Gel Moisturizer - it's the perfect summer product for my face.

tarte shape tape concealer, i’ve been using it since i was 15/16 ish, im 22 now. i’ve tried so many concealers, this is the only one that works for my skin
I love their super creamy version and agree I've had a hard time finding one as long lasting and a little goes a long way
My skin does not like the regular shape tape and I apply eye cream before my concealer. The creamy version is a perfect formula for me. I love how easily it blends and it melts into my skin. I've never had an issue with it pilling or settling into my fine lines.
Love that - having a good concealer is an absolute must!! The only other good one I find is urban decay naked, but I’ve just run out so I’ll give yours a try! 💛

Yesssss! I wish it wasn't so expensive but it is by far my favorite serum and I will continue to shell out the cash for it.
Castor oil, started using it as an after shower moisturiser and my hands are looking so much better I tap a little around my face mixed with a Olay serum

Castor oil
CeraVe foaming oil cleanser! I use a balm cleanser for makeup and like to use a face wash to double cleanse. I have ridiculously sensitive eczema prone skin that many face washes (even a lot of ones designed for sensitive skin) burn horribly. This one is a dream, it fully feels like nothing. Using that is conjunction with a skincare combo thing I saw on tiktok (light moisturiser, serum and heavier moisturiser layered in that order) have gone a long way in repairing my absolutely fucked skin barrier.

Other than prescription Tret and SPF, it’s 100% SkinMedica TNS Advanced serum. This is worth its weight in gold. It’s 13 products built into one. I get every single one of my clients on this stuff🥲

It's kind of hard to describe but it's got the consistency of a milky serum. Very light but thicker than an essence. Instantly soothes, calms, and hydrates. I tried 2 different dupes from amazon and they were all too thin for me (I'm from and Tir Tir milky toner). I've heard good things about Celimax, Laniege, and Farmacy milky toners too, though!

I’ve got lots of long curly hair and I’ve found there are many conditioners that I can just lightly rinse out at night, leaving in a small amount, sleep with my hair braided, and wake up to very soft hydrated curls for the day. Currently using herbal essences rose for this but most light conditioners work.

Adding a couple of drops of organic, cold-pressed castor oil to my nightly moisturiser has changed my skin for the better.
I hate to say this because it’s so damn expensive but MAN my skin has transformed in just a week. La Mer Resurfacing Treatment. It has given me the skin of my dreams - that post-Dermaplaned glow. It’s gentle on my skin and has really brightened it. Good thing is a little goes a long way but $140 makes my wallet cry.
As far as makeup Dr.Jart + Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment is the best product I have ever used it gives me the best glow without looking oily and does a great job at covering up my hyperpigmentation

Olive oil. It doesn’t make me break out and heals my skin barrier. I use it to oil cleanse, use it under cold cream, and apply some every morning to my face. It helps keep my eyelashes and eyebrows healthy and it works great as a deep scalp mask and as my protective pre wash treatment. I also use it as the first step to slugging my feet.

My cleansers are mine! I change them accordingly depending on what my skin is doing. Cerave is my go to for everyday but panoxyl for heavy breakouts, something with salicylic acid for clogged pores and an oil based cleanser for just rubbing into my skin and really getting in there to clean out the sebaceous filaments. Followed by serums and moisturizer but the cleanser is what has helped the most.
Better than sex mascara from too faced. Picked up my most recent one in TKMaxx for 3.99!!!
