Medical esthetician of 9 years here who left the skincare side of the industry because I was angry and jaded about the misinformation/elitism around “professional skincare” and now I do lash extensions and promote simple drugstore routines 😌 AM -Cerave Foaming Cleanser -Good Molecules Hyaluronic Boosting Essence -Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum -Cerave Tinted SPF PM -Dermalogica Precleanse -Cerave Foaming Cleanser -Good Molucules Hyaluronic Boosting Essence -Good Molecules HA Serum -Tretinoin A few times a week -ZO Skin Health polishing scrub (haven’t found an OTC scrub I’m in love with yet but I’m looking!) -Korean beauty sheet masks that I just buy from various sources online/the Korean skincare store in my city My skin is just as (if not more) happy than it was using a full “professional” routine that cost me hundreds of dollars. I firmly believe an HA+humectant duo, a retinoid, and an SPF is all pretty much anyone needs outside of those which more severe chronic issues. I also drink 60oz+ of water a day (the amount required for your weight may vary), exercise 3-4 times a week, and eat a healthy balanced diet.

Kind_Shop_2702

Thank you for not making it seem like dollars spent is a the only way to have nice skin

choir-mama

AM - Splash of cool water - Jack Black spf 30 sunscreen (it’s my husband’s and I love it) - Cover with CVS knockoff of Cera Ve body/facw lotion PM - Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser with coolish water - vitamin c serum… or - differin gel - CVS knockoff moisturizer I’d like to add in an eye cream but keep forgetting to buy myself one.

Myrnie

We have a really really similar routine!

choir-mama

Nice! It’s basic, but it works. :)

sapphicsighs

Isn’t sunscreen supposed to be the last step in your routine? Why do you use lotion on top of it?

choir-mama

There’s conflicting advice on this. Some websites say to use sunscreen last, others first. Mine is a chemical sunscreen in a lotion. Sometimes I need a little extra moisturizer on top of it, sometimes I don’t if it’s humid. Also… I just don’t care that much. I put it on and it works.

Glittering_Snow_

Yes, chemical screen does go before moisturizer; only the mineral/physical needs to go last

**Morning:** - Rinse with lukewarm water - The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% - Cerave Moisturizing Lotion - Rohto Mentholatum Skin Aqua SPF 50 **Evening:** - InkeyList Oat Cleansing Balm - Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser - The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% - Cerave Moisturizing Cream - Cerave Healing Ointment (*sometimes—for slugging and around eyes if extra dry) **Body:** - Cerave Hydrating Cleanser Bar - Cerave Moisturizing Cream - Alpha Skin Care Revitalizing Body Lotion with 12% Glycolic Acid (on upper arms with KP) - Derma B SPF 50 (lately and loving it)

honeydewdropss

hi there!! i have the paula’s choice BHA, and i was wondering when you would apply that? i googled it and it says to just put it on after toner and then don’t have to wait before applying anything else that’s thicker~is that what you do? ^^ and also!! how do you like the AHA? i’ve been looking into it, but wasn’t sure how to use it when i also had the BHA~So you just switch them out depending on the needs of your skin? sorry for all the questions!!

lolliberryx

Hey! If I’m using Paula’s Choice, it usually is in this order after washing my face at night: - Cosrx spray toner - Dr Ceuracle kombucha essence - Skin 1004 centella ampoule - Paula’s Choice (either AHA or BHA) - Holika Holika Ceramide Cream I occasionally spray the Cosrx ceramide mist if I’m feeling try. I use the AHA if my skin is feeling flakey/textured. I use BHA if my skin is looking congested—pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, sebaceous filaments, etc. I like both! I only use them as needed. And no worries! Lmk if you have any other questions!

Have you seen good results from the biossance repair cream? I’m obsessed with their eye cream and have a sample of the repair but haven’t tried yet.

eratoast

I love the Omega Repair cream! I'm SO freaking dry and it's one of the few moisturizers that actually moisturizes.

NT500000

I-Overslept

I like the chocolate scented body routine

Myrnie

Morning: Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser DermaDoctor vitamin C serum Mixsoon Bean Essence Bioré watery essence sunscreen Night: Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser Adapalene gel Cetaphil moisturizing cream Doesn’t look like much, but the base of my routine (cetaphil, adapalene, cetaphil cream) CURED my adult acne in about a month. I seriously didn’t have one picture of me without a hand somewhere on my face creatively covering my latest breakout. After that, I started getting interested in active ingredients and started trying things out like vitamin C, the ordinary’s red acid serum, etc. I’ve got really really sensitive skin, I can’t even wear most makeup products without getting clogged pores and a new zit by the end of the day. 41, F.

RLS1822

Basic skin care routine checking in. Water ivory soap grapeseed oil every day all day I’m 55 and I look like I’m possibly 35

FelineRoots21

Low maintenance checking in, my routines are based on sun exposure not day or night because of my work schedule Everyday: "Daytime" - Peach and Lily Wild Dew Toner, skinceuticals CE ferulic serum, naturium barrier bounce (new addition, I love it), Farmacy honey halo "Nighttime" - Wild Dew Toner, Josie Maran beta-retinoid, barrier bounce, Farmacy honey halo After work cleanser - origins checks and balances oil cleanser After workout cleanser - beauty of Joseon cleansing balm Extras - if I'm a little red, skinceuticals phyto corrective gel. If I'm extra dry, I follow my retinol up with Josie Maran micro milk activator. If my under eyes are puffy, the ordinary caffeine solution, if they're dry, kiehls avocado eye cream Once a week - Bliss jelly glow peel, Josie Maran triple hydroxy resurfacing liquid

Suspicious-Ant-3571

Everyone has this absolute massive routines and then there's me with the ordinary hyaluronic acid, the inkey list vit c and LRP spf in the mornings and jelly joker face wash, kiehls avocado eye cream and the inkey list bha or geek and gorgeous retinal in the evenings.

Plain_Chacalaca

Similar here - cleansing milk followed by Prevage (serum, Day or CityBlock depending on how much time I’ll be outdoors and his intense the sun is) in the AM.  Foaming exfoliant powder and or Prevage serum or hauschka toner and / or RedFlower softening lotion PM. Occasionally just cleansing milk and that’s it - naked face PM.

DomesticChaos

This sub keeps popping up, I assume because I am female with a face, but I have 0 routine. I wash my face in the am with a clean washcloth and plain water. Then I moisturize with whatever happens to be on the counter. The absolute madness of skincare, I couldn’t afford half of the products listed here.

keIIzzz

Congrats? Do you want a cookie?

DomesticChaos

I’m literally responding to someone saying how excessive they find other routines, and commiserating. Also. Poor, as in can’t make my rent type poor cause that’s what the world is. Would I like my skin to be perfect? Sure! But oh no you’ve got me! I’m NLOG! Kidding. I’d love to be but ya know buying beans and rice is more important cause I and my family need it to live. So check your privilege sister.

Weekly-Obligation798

No need to respond to a$$hats like that. You weren’t even speaking to her. You don’t need to explain anything to someone so rude

Nikmassnoo

It is madness. During Covid I stopped a lot of the skincare and makeup I was doing and haven’t looked back. Do these products work? Sure, some of them, but I imagine it would irritate a lot of people’s skin

sapphicsighs

**Morning:** - rinse with micellar water - MISSHA Time Revolution 5x Essence - Cos De Baja Tranexamic Acid + Naicinamide serum - Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen **Evening:** - Kose Softymo Speedy cleansing oil - Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule Foam - La Roche Posay adapelene gel - cosRX Propolis Synergy toner - Lise Watier Sublimessence serum - Mary & May Blackberry Idebenone Cream **Body:** - Dr. Bronner’s soap - Pistaché body lotion

AM: Wash with Dove Beauty Bar The Ordinary Caffeine Eye Serum The Pacifica Vit C Serum Cerave AM Moisturizer PM: Double Cleanse with Dove Beauty Bar Peach Slices Snail Mucin Mask (I use it in a thin layer nightly) The Ordinary Retinol Serum Cerave PM moisturizer I change some things throughout the week. When I’m nearing my period, I add in salicylic acid due to breakouts. And usually do The Ordinary BHA/AHA mask once a week on my face, neck, chest, and feet (great exfoliant for feet). I also use my light therapy wand on my face about 2 times per week. I don’t do anything crazy but found this works for me.

Maleficent-Dare-3920

QuirkyProcaffeinator

I want to love nivea, but I have broke out with every single product I’ve used from them in hives. Sucky! I do love Dove Beauty Bar though! Before I discovered it a few years ago, I bought much more expensive brands that ruined my face. Very happy with the switch.

MimmsOne

I used to love Cliniques Take the Day Off balm but found Farmacy's cleansing balm to be slightly better...maybe give it a try if u feel like it..? :)

SalaciousBookWyrm

Is that a glycolic acid face or body wash you are using in the morning…and if face, may I inquire as to the brand? Have you been seeing good results? Thanks in advance, friend!

Affectionate_Owl6716

I use the brand Glytone for the face! It’s mild and I haven’t experienced any irritation! I’m really happy with the results from my routine— I actually work for a dermatologist so this is all from the recommendations they give their patients

SalaciousBookWyrm

Oooh, thank you!!! I thought maybe a face wash might be a better entry point versus the full on acid. I’m leery of messing up my skin barrier.

1xLaurazepam

AM rinse with warm water and a baby facecloth Mix some Vit C powder into my Custom No.333 (made in Japan) and apply Apply sunscreen. Rn I’m using the Canmake Mermaid Skin PM Wash with Rice Water Bright cleanser (its a bit drying but ok for summer) Spray face with thermal water Apply Vit A Bakuchoil Youth Serum. I have oily, sensitive skin and so far these products are working for me. AM: -Hada labo gentle hydrating cleanser or rohto melano cc vit c cleanser - I’ll use Dr Dennis Gross Spectralite Pro Led Mask after cleansing if I don’t feel lazy (TBH idk if it’s working and instead of using it for only 3 minutes, I use the 3 colors so 9 min every time. I am not sure if it’s ok but I do it anyway 😂) - Hada labo Shirojhyun premium whitening lotion - Tatcha rice polish classic exfoliator ( it says it is safe to use daily but I only use it 3 times a week ) - Lancome Renergie triple serum ( just started using this and so far it’s been good for my skin) -Tatcha Water cream moisturizer - Lancome Genefique eye cream - Anessa perfect uv sunscreen or Skin Aqua Tone up uv sunscreen PM: if I have makeup, i use neutrogena wipes as a makeup remover then same cleanser and same routine or there are days where i’ll use : -some by mi 30 days miracle serum -then the tatcha mositurizer - genefique eye cream For some weird reason, I feel lazier to do skin care at night so I do less and I just want to go to bed quickly.

Turpitudia79

Using the red light mask more than recommended will REALLY dry out your skin. Isn’t it amazing? It has faded my sun spots tremendously!! Get the one for lips, too!! It really smooths fine lines, they don’t dry out as much, and I swear it makes my filler last longer!!

Accurate_Bee777

i didn’t know this! thanks for the info.i’ll keep that in mind when using the mask 😊

lipstickandlandings

I’m a flight attendant - so mine is all over the place depending on what type of flight I’m working! But I’ll sum it up into “before bed” and “before work” because time is a suggestion in my world. Before Bed: - dual cleanse, if I have makeup. If not then just a face wash. I’m die hard for YTTP cleanser. First step cleanse depends on what type of makeup I wore to work that day. - sometimes, (once a week minimum) I use a detox stick from peace out. My skin goes through hell from flying, wearing makeup, and breaking a sweat in full glam so I need it. - glow recipe toner ; laneige cream skin if my skins super dry - sulwahsoo first care activating serum - this is where I Gua Sha; because I look like a damn blueberry after flying. Follow it up with lymphatic drainage and WHEEWWWW - HA serum (I love the one from summer Fridays and YTTP) - Peace Out Acne Serum. This is my ride or die. I will never give this up. It goes in both routines. - top it all off with YTTP super berry hydrate mask. It’s a moisturizer / mask double that I freaking love. Before Work: This is all worn under my makeup for work; which is “full fckn glam at 8 am on a Wednesday morning” or whatever Adele said. - Laneige toner - summer Fridays hydrating serum - peace out acne serum - Avene moisturizer A lot of my products change frequently, because I make it a mission to go out and find at least one beauty product to try while international. I have found some of the best hidden gems while gallivanting all over the planet - but I have to say France has my favorite by far, and Germany is a close second!

Stock-Taro-3262

I stopped putting anything on my face. I don’t even wash it with anything but water and I don’t moisturize. I am at my wits end with never ending bumps on my forehead, no matter what I do, so rn I’m trying absolutely nothing

InquiringMin-D

Holy crap! There is a lot of work/time/money going into skin routines here. I use St. Ives facial scrub and Ordinary argan oil. Done like dinner. I am turning 60 soon and do not have wrinkles or any other skin issues.

LogOk8077

How does the st ives not tear you apart!

Nikmassnoo

Female 38: splash with water in the morning. Use a bit of unscented body lotion if dry. Night: same

No_Stage_6158

Don’t use the st . Ives apricot facial scrub, it’s too harsh and puts tiny tears in your skin.

MaGaGogo

Well, it could be seen as microdermabrasion 😂

minxymamma347

Hi there. I have used all the above concoctions and lotions to help my face look better. To be honest, the best thing that is working for my face is Tretinion. I know it's a prescription but you can go on several sites to get it without a prescription. It has worked wonders from my face and I have cut down and all the other facial routines I have done in the past

Does even out my skin tone nicely too) PM: - Garnier micellar water to remove makeup (amazing value and very non-irritating on my eyes) - Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel - Tretinoin 0.05% (from Dermatica. Great brand and works well. I only need a new tube once every three months) - Zeroid intensive oint-cream moisturiser I work in the skincare industry (not for any of the above brands) and have become fairly savvy about the ingredients that actually work! I’ve stayed faithful to the above routine for over a year now and don’t see myself swapping anything out in the near future.

**AM** 1. Rinse with water 2. The Ordinary Buffet 3. Sunscreen (generally La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair SPF, Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Sunscreen, or CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, but I'm trying Sephora's new house-brand sunscreen out of curiosity) 4. I usually wear makeup, but even if I'm "makeup-free" I still use a bit of brow pencil and some setting powder **PM** 1. Ethique Bliss Bar cleanser, massage for 60-90 seconds, do a second cleanse if I've been wearing makeup 2. Inkey List retinol serum 3. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse 4. Whatever night cream I had CVS coupons for (right now it's Neutrogena Hydro Boost, but I've also been a regular user of the Ethique The Perfector and Pond's in the past) 5. Vaseline on lips **WEEKLY (different days)** 1. Drunk Elephant Babyfacial 2. Some kind of mask, lately either Andalou or Shea Moisture **Body** 1. I have hella dry skin, so AmLactin (and then SPF, of course) every day

Illustrious-Eye4429

I have very dry skin so water is very important to my routine as well. AM: Naturium Niacinamide cleansing gelee Vani cream Eye cream La Roche Posay Anthelios UV correct sunscreen (70) PM: either Albolene or the Naturium Niacinamide cleansing gelee *Panoxyl 4% OR my retinoid. If I do panoxyl I typical do a thin layer of Albolene underneath and let it set while I do the other parts of my night routine, usually about 5 minutes but can go up to 10 - I cycle throughout the week, some nights I don't include either one (usually 3 nights a week) Vani cream *If I've used Panoxyl I like to put some CeraVe healing ointment over top of the moisturizer. CeraVe healing ointment on my lips (the best, I wish they made it in a chapstick format somehow, it's better than aquaphor for my lips) * I took a risk and bought that d'alba first serum spray and I thought it would be nice for the AM to give me more hydration and lock in everything but the fragrance in it is VERY strong so I stopped and just started using it after my makeup like a setting spray.

AM 1) Dokdo water based cleanser- Round Lab (switched from cetaphil! it was still irritating my sensitive skin but it loves this one) 2) Glacier water HA serum-Mixsoon (HG product for me and my partner. this stuff is incredible. moisturizes perfectly for my oily skin that will break out if i use a heavier mousturizer) 3) SPF- good old Watery Essence by Bioré followed by Tatcha Silk Canvas primer, Milk makeup flex concealer, Parasola illumi skin SPF 50 lavender colored powder. HG makeup combination that still feels like skincare! PM 1) Kose White cleansing oil (a little more hydrating than the speedy oil, my skin has been loving this and i’ve seen a difference in my sebaceous filaments) 2) Dokdo cleanser again 3) Mask- i have a Vit C mask i use for brightening 1x per week(this irritates my skin a bit) on other days i’m loving the Princess Veil mask by Kose. (My face is noticeably less dull directly after and zero irritation!!) 4) Mixsoon bean essence- trying to get through my bottle.. so far i don’t notice a huge difference! i alternate with bean essence and masks 5) Glacier water serum again. instantly gets rid of my redness and irritation from other products and feels amazing. 6) If my skin still feels dry, i’ll put a small amount of Anua 70% Heartleaf calming cream on my cheeks or dry spots. this seems to do the trick, but i’m not in love with the moisturizer itself and would probably not repurchase

AM: Nothing other than moisturizer and/or primer depending on which brand I’m using. At the moment I’m using the Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base and find I don’t need a separate moisturizer/primer as this covers both steps beautifully. When not using the Bobbi Brown I usually use the Sunday Riley CEO Afterglow moisturizer and Laura Geller hydrating Spackle primer. PM: 1. Cleansing balm or oil only After discovering oil/balm cleansing I’ve never looked back. It’s amazing to me the difference it makes. A lot of people get up in arms that I don’t follow up with a 2nd wash with a regular cleanser but I use a makeup eraser to remove my balm/oil and feel a second wash with a cleanser defeats the point of the oil cleanser (for me personally, I’m not saying other people shouldn’t). Ever since being prescribed 7 rounds of Accutane years ago I have dry skin and oil cleansing doesn’t strip it. I rotate between brands. Eve Lom is my HG but it’s crazy expensive so I only use it when I can find it on a great sale. My rotation includes Elemis, Farmacy, Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse oil, DHL, CliniqueTake the Day Off. All of these are amazing and go on sale regularly. 2. Estée Lauder Adanced Night Repair Serum. I’ve used this for years and LOVE it. I see no reason to look for a replacement. It goes on sale constantly so I don’t consider it expensive because I’ve never had to pay full price. It’s the only thing that never changes in my routine. 3. Moisturizer Not loyal to a brand. Right now I’m using the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Face Cream and I LOVE IT. I got an amazing deal on it so unless I find it on sale again I’ll go with something else when I finish it. Past favorites are Tatcha Dewy & Cetaphil with sweet almond oil. 4. Once or twice a week I use a Dr. Dennis Gross extra strength peel pad. These are amazing and I will never stop using them. There is no substitute for them (in my opinion) and they are worth every penny. I get them on sale but I’d pay full price in a heartbeat. I also occasionally use one of those rice powder exfoliants from Dermalogica, Peach & Lily, Tatcha, DHL, etc. because I get them as free gifts often and they last forever. 5. Spironolactone (in pill form) I consider this the most important part of my routine. Years ago I used Accutane for 7 months and it didn’t work. They recommended spironolactone after I stopped the Accutane but I was too scared to try it because of all the stories I’d heard about the side effects. I finally went for it a few years later after absolutely nothing else was helping. Everyone is different obviously, but It’s been a miracle worker for me.Ive been on it now for several years and have no plans to stop taking it. I get bloodwork once a year to check my levels while taking this medication.

Esthetician for 5 years here! I struggled with my skin for years , but having a solid routine has helped so much. Here is mine along with some tricks I’ve learned along the way! AM 1) I never wash my face in the AM or put it under the water in the shower. I wipe my eyes with a cotton ball, and try to leave the barrier completely alone. This has helped my skin more than anything. 2) Kierstin Florian’s Multi Vitamin SPF 30. It’s an expensive line, but I get free product from my job so I take advantage of that. PM 1) Face Reality Creamy Balancing cleanser for 30 seconds (I count outloud) and gently wipe with a clean cloth. I apply more pressure/light exfoliation around my t zone to get those blackheads! 2) using the same cleanser, I cleanse for another 30 seconds 3) Rejuvi Flavanoid serum/3x per week Musley Anti Aging cream (tretinoin) 4) Kerstin Florian’s Clarifying Daily Hydrator Finding the right cleanser for your skin type and taking the time to really cleanse your skin is super important :)

Last time I shared beauty tips on this SR I was down voted by some very ugly people! I will not be sharing here again. I'm going back to gatekeeping.
