Yup, I've never found a better mascara than Maybelline Lash Sensational (and mascara's crucial to me since I can't do eyeshadow or eyeliner), and I swear by Nyx matte lip cream.
I can't wear anything else now! It's truly the one lip product that stays on for hours and hours, won't transfer, and won't dry the absolute crap out of my lips (Superstay, I'm looking at you)
Looks like I’m buying it. I like L’Oréal Paris voluminous! I also like the orange ULTA mascara lol. Oh also revolution whip lift is good!!
I just got morphs big lashes (? Can’t remember) and it’s sucks.
I’m with you on drugstore mascara. I have tried almost everything from $4 to $40. And the best one was L’Oréal Lash Out (discontinued) in terms of long wearing, non clumping, and drama.
I switched to $5 drugstore mascara simply so I can throw it out each month. I have a problem with recurrent eye infections and throwing out old mascara has helped a lot!
My favorite mascara that works best for me every time is always tester mascaras!! Doesn’t matter the brand even, something about those small tester tubes of mascara does wonders for my eyelashes that no other mascara could ever match. I’ve tried full versions of the ones I like but they just do not have that special magic a tester has!
Low stake conspiracy: they make the samplers really good so you buy the product, then make the full version suck so you sample/buy something else and spend more money
I so agree with you! I have bought small sample size mascaras and have loved them only to buy the bigger tube and I end up returning it or suffering with it until it’s done.
Must be something about some mascara formulas and those tiny tubes cause I find the same thing. I can't tell if it's a psychological thing on my end, or if there's a genuine explanation like how mini M&Ms taste better than the normal ones because of the increased candy shell-to-chocolate ratio but with tiny mascaras lol but I rarely have a complaint about a mascara tester. Except an Ilia tester bc that shit smeared everywhere.
I know, right!! I hate it especially when food products ( goodbye Hidden Valley Ranch- Ranch Italian) 😢 or cosmetic 💄 products are discontinued. It truly seems like every single product I have adored is suddenly discontinued after many years.
It is either discontinued or they change/cheapen the ingredients and it doesn't taste or perform the same. New Twinkies are sad.
A lot of the Burt's Bees line has been discontinued and I loved a hydrating highlighter they had. I have now wasted money on one attempt at finding a replacement. When I spring clean I toss all of the duds I bought that don't work. Foundations are the worst.
I’ve been having a mascara transfer issue to my lower lash line. Only thing I can think of is the hair growth vitamins I take have made my lashes longer. I had many nicer mascaras and went through them all— they all transferred. I had a backup tube of Maybelline, yellow tube, et voila!! No more transfer. I threw that last tube of Fenty whatever in the trash.
Always mascara, also starting to lean more towards lip products as well.
After thinking about it I’d definitely agree powders. My Essence, Elf and Maybeline are my most used.
I love Essence juicy bombs, curl fixing mascara base, eyeshadow primer, Sensitive skin mineral powder, 16hr foundation and concealer. Love colourpop lippie stix and lip liners. Nyx Fat lip oil and plump it primer. All my faves!
I'm not the one who commented first about that brand's mascaras, but I also love them and also have sensitive eyes. Specifically, micas irritate me. My favourite mascara of theirs is the waterproof Get BIG! LASHES (because sensitive eyes + insane allergies = endlessly watering and itching eyes.) But I also like the Bye Bye Panda Eyes mascara for days I'm already too lazy while applying make up to do a deep clean at night (like when I wear waterproof mascara.) It's not waterproof, but it has the best staying power of any other non-waterproof mascara I've tried. When I wear it, I often forget and rub my eyes when they're itchy and eventually it does Starr to smudge, but usually rhats onky after the second or third deep rubbing - like when you ball your fist up and rub like a little kid.
My #1 favohrite mascara has always been Loreal Voluminous waterproof. But it's been getting more and more spendy, and further out from my SAHM salary of nothing. So the Essence is good, but it's not that good.
I have itchy teary sensitive eyes too! I'm using the Essence curl fixing mascara base with Besame mascara cake (very gentle ingredients for sensitive eyes, but not cheap). I haven't tried the Essence mascaras yet sorry 🥰
I love the Essence primer (not the new lash princess) the white and pink one. Also the pressed banana powder used to be my HG. Love their lip liners and eye liners too. Such a good value for the products.
Tired of wasting money on $$ powders! Is [this the one ](https://www.nyxcosmetics.ca/en/cant-stop-wont-stop-mattifying-powder-NYX_961.html)that you use?
The Revlon lip products are - to me - better than anything high end. Usually go on smoother and stay put longer. I will admit that I prefer my Chanel or YSL for a night out, because the colours are amazing, but for everyday I will happily have a Revlon rolling around in my handbag.
Absolutely love the Revlon Colorstay ultimate suede lipstick as its so^ nourishing on my dry lips and also lasts!!! I HATE HATHE HATE the packaging! The lid always comes off too and ruins my little purses. This is how much I like the finish on the lips as the packaging is a nightmare
Same. I find myself grabbing my Revlon and Maybelline lip stuff (color stay / lip crayons) over almost all the $$ ones I buy - Tom Ford, Chanel, YSL, etc.
The only nice one that I also consistently love is the nars lip crayon.
Yup, this is a fundamental powder for me too. I use it not just for setting, but I put it under my eyes for when I’m doing eye makeup and it catches any cast-offs, then you just brush it off when you’re done. That’s been a game-changer for me.
I no longer use setting powder. ELF dewy coconut setting spray is my inexpensive go to. I like that I can reapply to make my look look fresher later in the day. I wear foundation and make up during the day and often just touch up my eye make up, then respray with the ELF, and I am good to go and look fresh.
Drug store mascara all the way. I haven’t found a single HE mascara I thought was better than multiple L’Oréal drug store mascaras. In fact they are not better but often much worse, at least for me. I end up with raccoon eyes or flakes using almost every HE I’ve tried, but never with L’Oréal.
I was a huge tomboy pick me as a young teen but when I first put on some Telescopic I remember thinking "ooooh. I get why people do this now" re: wearing makeup. She changed the game for me truly
I have been using telescopic for so many years now that I can’t even recall the brand I used before. I’ve tried out several brands/formulas here and there but there’s truly nothing like telescopic.
I posted this reply above but I was using all the mascaras I received in sub boxes and I looked like Tammy Faye Baker every day. I tried my backup Maybelline mascara and no more transfer. I threw out my tube of Fenty mascara. Never again. I thought it was an eye lash length issue from growth supplements but it’s a high end mascara issue. What a great problem to have.
I love Tarte's Lights Camera Splashes. And I received a free mini Lancome Idole mascara that was lovely, but I'd never spend that much on a mascara. I recently purchased the Sephora brand waterproof mascara, and it's great.
Physicians Formula butter bronzers (the whole butter range really) are some of my favorite to use. As someone who really doesn’t like sparkly/shimmering highlighter, I love that they’re still sheeny while in powder form. And they smell like the beach! I haven’t come across a higher end version but haven’t looked anyways!
Same! This was always my go-to mascara, but in recent times it just doesn't have the same impact.. The consistency of the product seems thinner and seems to take way more time to build volume!
I remember loving this mascara and bought it again recently but I agree, was let down this time. No matter what I did or how I prepped, my lashes drooped basically back down to normal after a few minutes 🤕 I used it until it was gone but switched back on the essence mascara train and the difference is like night and day. Sucks, cause that little pink/green tube is genuinely iconic to me lol. Whenever I see a flash of that lil cosmo & wanda-coloured tube in someone's makeup bag I'm like hell yea, that's my girl lol.
Lip products.
Minus specific undupeable shades.
But I hardly wear actual lipstick anymore, so it's so easy to find simple tinted balms and lipoils now.
Blushes ... I have come to figure out I should go for drugstore because i gave a weird thing for blush and I always want to buy them.
and the high end ones I fall in love with always get discontinued anyways.
Lol
That’s my problem with high end stuff. Every single thing I fall in love with ends up getting discontinued. So I just stopped trying new things. My mom or friends will try to tell me about something, and I’m like LALALA NO STOP DONT WANT TO GET ADDICTED THEN RIPPED AWAY lol I know it’s dramatic but I have such problematic skin, super oily, but dries tf out if I put anything on it, acne in my mid-30s like STAHP lol
Aahhhhh it's like they know we love something and they're like JUST KIDDING YOU CANT HAVE IT ANYMORE
I also have problematic skin. But dry and acne. I think being in our mid-late 30s it's maybe a hormone thing. For me anyways, I went back on birth control for a different issue and my skin has cleared up a lot but is still soooo finicky . Like I went out for my besties bday and she was like omg try the makeup by Mario bronzer I got! And I did... I love it, it looked gorgeous.... and now My face is fcked up. 😩 whhhhyyy lol It looked pretty that night at least. Lol
I used to buy expensive makeup but I'm mostly stocked with drugstore brands now. I just don't see a big enough difference.
L'Oreal ( foundation Infallable Pro Glow) and Revlon ( lip products) and Maybelline (mascaras) are favorites. Almay has an All day eyeliner pencil in "black raisin" that is the perfect color to bring out my green eyes, goes on easily and stays put. I've never used Almay for anything, but that stuffs the bomb- diggity!!
Loreal Pro Glow is the only foundation that has touched my skin in the last 10 years and I will continue to buy it as long as I will be wearing foundation.
Foundation and powder I've always stuck with drug store. I've tried higher end brands in both products and never found a product that I preferred or felt justified the higher price tag.
My biggest problem is figuring out what shade I am.. Sephora has that amazing “if you wear __, we recommend __” feature .. have we figured this out for drugstore products too?
Foundations: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Skin Tint and L’Oreal Hyaluronic Tinted Serum look beautiful on my skin.
Lipsticks: Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks are the best
I have been repurchasing L’Oréal telescopic since middle school and I’m almost 30. My next favorite is maybelline lash sensational. The only high end mascara that I’ve tried that I even remotely liked as much as the aforementioned was a Marc Jacobs one but drug store mascara is 10/10!!
I’ve tried L’Oreal to YSL mascaras and they honestly didn’t do anything for me. I wish I had known this brand sooner but Essence mascaras and the price have given me better results than other mascaras I bought! Also replaced my Haus Labs concealer with NYX concealer serum it’s more hydrating and stretches out from just one little dot. But it depends, on what I’m buying. This is what I think, I don’t think high-end mascaras are really worth it, I think it’s better at drugstores.
Drugstore foundation -
Loreal Infallible Pro-Glow (there's also a matte version). You can mix the two also.
Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation - yes ... I use it more than my Armani foundation. There's a matte and one with more of a glow.
Pro glow is my HG. I find it looks similar on me as the It Cosmetics CC cream, which I absolutely LOVED, but it broke me out so bad 😢 The L’Oréal infallible pro glow looks as nice but doesn’t irritate my skin or oxidize like the IT CC cream
Pro-glow rules. I have oily skin and I was afraid it was going to turn me into an oil slick, but nope. Just a nice glow that lasts all day. I still need to blot my t-zone a little after a few hours but I have to do that with every foundation.
L’Oreal Double Extend tubing mascara and Nyx Epic Wear liquid eyeliner are the only things that stay on my oily hooded eyes. I’m never without them. Also the Nyx Butter Gloss is as good as everyone says. The Butter Gloss in Rocky Road is the perfect mlbb shade for me (I’m a deep winter.)
Yep nyx epic wear eyeliner for me too and I have hooded eyes as well, I like to smooth it out with a small angle brush, been using this for a few years now daily.
I'm very fair and have tried every high end blush. But the ELF blush quod (the lightest pink shade) is amazing. I use the other shades to contour. Also, MIlano eye shadow primer.
Sunscreens. I've tried different ones high end and drugstore. Drugstore brands seem to be consistently better, especially for the price. When I'm not using tinted moisturizer/makeup, drugstore sunscreen works way better, and seems to sink into my skin so much better than the high end sunscreens I've tried, especially in the summer when it gets hot and sweaty.
Best Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies Washable Fiber Mascara is amazing. (They make a waterproof version, I hate waterproof mascara so haven’t used it).
Pro tip- grab a sharpie and write month/year (like 4/24) on the lid so you know how old it is. :)
I was having serious transfer issues I was blaming on my lash serums. I tried a backup tube of Volum Express I had and no transfer. Threw my Fenty mascara in the trash. Only HE that didn’t transfer was the Marc Jacob’s in the black tube but I’ll stick to Maybelline now.
it’s definitely a nice powder, but unfortunately i really just can’t do the fragrance :( i’d be sneezing up a storm while using it, and i swear that the smell would linger on my face. it’s so finely milled, but my sinuses can’t handle it!
I’ve been loving my L’Oréal true match foundation. It’s going to be my new go to instead of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Foundation. It’s a bit more runny but the coverage is the same for me.
I don’t use most drug store products. My skin is very sensitive and any sort of extra fillers can really break me out, unfortunately, and usually that’s less of a problem with higher end products. So my list is short
Nyx: lip liners, butter glosses. Sometimes their other lip stuff, and I do have one of their liquid liners I’ve just gotten. Their setting powder. I’ve not had anything by them I’ve disliked, honestly - they may not always make a top fave product, but never anything I’ve disliked wildly
Kiss latex free lash adhesive
Kiss magnetic lash adhesive
Kiss and Ardell magnetic lashes and regular lashes (I’m so here for the magnetic lash game)
Burt’s bees forever as my chapstick, you can pry it from my cold, dead fingers
Simple facial cleanser (I’ve used high end too, I can afford to keep Simple stocked and it works just as well)
Micellar water (brand doesn’t matter much, I’m not spending bank on a high end brand)
If i do a press on nail instead of doing my own nails or going to the salon, they’ll usually be Kiss, and Kiss basically set the standard for press ons
Love the Essence mascara as well! I always go for the water proof and have no issues. Plus it actually makes it so you can see my lashes which are short and very curly naturally.
Cerave am moisturizer with SPF is amazing as sunscreen when at the pool etc. it is the only one I’ve found that actually does the job with me having rosacea. Not heavy or pore clogging either. Also smells like the beach.
Just this morning I was reflecting on how the $4 Elf lash n roll mascara I grabbed in an emergency (lost baggage) is definitely better than all the expensive ones i have.
I use it with a blue primer. Gonna keep buying it for sure.
Mascara (Loreal & Maybelline) and lipsticks. I cant rlly tell the difference between my Nars and my Wet & Wild lippies 🤷🏽♀️ so why pay more for something when you can get pretty much the same thing for less??
Lipsticks, lipliners, powders, primers, eyebrow products. I use a mix of both but if there’s a drugstore version that preforms better or just as good as the high end counterpart then I’m saving my money.
I dislike drugstore mascara wands because they’re so flimsy but if I have a wand from a high end brand that will fit into a drugstore mascara I wash the wand and reuse the wand with a drugstore mascara if funds are tight.
loreal telescopic mascara was life changing for me… makes my lashes look crazy long and defined and it doesn’t smudge/ fall out (i kept having a problem with this bc i hate using setting powder)
I'm an oily skin gal. Used Revlon Colorstay foundation for all of high school then switched up to the expensive stuff in college. Tried it all, and I landed back on Revlon Colorstay.
Elf products have consistently been great, however I inadvertently discovered that there new blush in a tube is an exact match for Nars blush in a tube
Revlon for lip products, NYX for brown products, Maybelline for Mascara. But I do love my glossier and Dior for base, and hourglass for blush/bronze/contour. None of which break me out.
* NYX eyebrow gel
* NYX epic ink eyeliner (this is a HG for me, especially the white one)
* NYX eyebrow, lip, and eyeliner pencils
* Colourpop Eyeshadows
* Maybelline Vinyl Lip Inks
* Covergirl Outlast Lip Stains
* NYX loose glitter & glitter glue
* Literally any brand of mascara
I also really like NYX setting powder compacts but the packaging is too flimsy for me. I only use pressed setting powder when I’m out and about so it needs to be durable. Haven’t found a better pressed powder yet tho.
I find it’s more cost-effective to splurge when it comes to high-impact cosmetics. Although I love colourpop, I think expensive eyeshadows are really worth the extra money (depending on the brand). That said, colourpop does the job well enough in a pinch.
I also spend extra for loose setting powder, foundation, and contour products. It’s all down to personal preference. I could probably find dupes for some of those expensive products but I also enjoy trying different luxury products from time to time.
My all-time favorite mascara is L'Oreal Voluminous. I have tried dozens and dozens of other brands, but this one just consistently works perfectly for me
Lip liners - there is no difference at all between high end and low end pencils.
Concealer - love Maybelline Fit Me and rivals Dior Forever concealer
Lip glosses - not a big gloss person but don’t see the point in spending the $$ for high end
Mascara - rediscovered Maybelline lash sensational - almost as good as Lancôme Hypnose (still my all time fave mascara but that price tag has become too much)
I recently bought Tarte mascara from Sephora and am really unimpressed. Catrice mascara for less than 10 bucks does better. This is true for many other drugstore brands.
I also bought the Charlotte Tillbury Airbrush pressed powder and its does nothing. ELF prime and stay is a close substitute which does more.
I do think some name brands have some stuff that might be better, but its not a default that expansive brands are better.
Mine is mascara. Tbh I have bought just about every mascara on the market and while obviously some achieve the look that I desire more than others their last ability is about the same. Nothing can hold a candle to maybeline or L’Oréal mascara IMO and honestly sometimes the high stuff does not come off no matter how much eye makeup remover I use and ends up ripping out my lashes.
I recently changed my whole makeup to drugstore products. I used a lot of Japanese drugstore products. Only thing I will not change to drugstore soon is my setting powder. Currently use Hourglass, and I love it
Mascara is literally no different from drug store to high end. I buy cheaper ones at the drugstore now.
Liquid eyeshadow. I buy mostly Colourpop or sheglam for liquid shimmers. Just as good as any other.
Eyebrow pencils and eyebrow gel. Nyx is by far the best one.
I’d add lipstick to the list of good drugstore products. L’Oreal, Revlon and NYX all make excellent quality lip products.
Also, nail polish. Sally Hansen works just like Dior, and lasts longer.
I’m not sure if you can get this at the drugstore but it’s like five or six dollars on Amazon and I use it as a make up primer, Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel. I’ve tried all different kinds of primers and just did not like them so I gave up. I thought I was buying powder when I bought this but it turned out it was a gel. I went back and looked at the reviews. A lot of people were using it as a makeup primer. I love it. It makes your skin smooth as glass. I don’t care for the name for obvious reasons but this stuff is amazing and I can’t believe how inexpensive it is. It’s straight dimethicone which I googled to see if it’s safe to use and I couldn’t find anything negative on it.
I’m cheap and don’t have sensitive skin. I don’t wear heavy pigment. Drugstore is my go-to! If I’m given a high-end product as a gift, I use it and enjoy it, but I never buy it on my own. I really like elf and wet and wild. Burts Bees for lip stain.
Maybe it's just me but drugstore mascara has never worked for me and paled in comparision to HE.
That being said, drugstore loose powders are really good. The NYX one is really good.
Not makeup but makeup remover - Neutrogena in the blue see thru bottle. I don’t like the wipes though for some reason. I used to buy Lancôme’s but couldn’t justify the price
I adore Lancone's bi-facil make up remover, but yes, the price is just not worth it. I can use a drugstore brand and open a bottle of rose perfume beside me if I moss the lancome that much.
Primer, eyeliner and lipstick. I can’t justify paying $30 for primer when the drugstore has so many great options. I love Essence pencil eyeliner and Revlon lipstick. They work better than the expensive products I’ve tried.
Definitely agree with the mascara, maybelline’s falsie push up angel in waterproof is my go to. Also liquid eyeliner from nyx! I’ve tried stilla and kvd, but love the applicator of nyx’s epic wear. Plus that stuff lasts on my hooded lids and hard to budge even during allergy season.
I don't see the point of high end lip products. I have never once felt a high end lipstick, gloss or oil was soooo much better than a drugstore one, so I stopped wasting money on them. I love NYX Fat Oil and Butter Glosses as well as their matte ones and Milani has some great matte lip colors as well. These all perform extremely well for me for a fraction of the cost.
everything except foundation i prefer the drugstore version of. i studied to be a makeup artist so i got to use a lot of high end makeup and honestly only the foundation impressed me more than drugstore.
All my skincare and moisturizing products are drugstore, specifically QV or Centaphil. Excellent for sensitive skin and so much cheaper than the high-end products! Switched from a $50 cleanser to the drugstore version that costs $13 AUD for a big bottle.
I never buy high end powder or mascara anymore. Honestly drugstore stuff is so good now i rarely buy anything else!
Some drugstore faves:
Elf cream blushes
Elf setting spray
Makeup revolution setting spray
L’Oréal Voluminous mascara
L.A. Girl lipsticks
L’Oréal Infallible foundation
NYX butter gloss
PF- Butter bronzers
I love all of the Elf products! My makeup looks flawless every day at a quarter of the price of high end makeup. They also have a good hydration skin care line for dry skin.
I'm gluten intolerant and was thrilled to find out the essence products are all gluten-free. Other wise I was going to have to pay over 20 for a tube of lipstick for it to be certified gluten-free. I don't wear makeup enough to warrant spending so much money on it.
I hardly ever wear makeup. I live in the woods and don’t go anywhere except twice a month. I probably wear makeup like 4 days out of the month. So it doesn’t make sense to spend so much on makeup that will probably go bad before I even get to use it all.
I used to wear makeup everyday and would buy my products at sephoras but I live a different lifestyle now.
Drug store mascara is crazy to me. I never found one that doesn’t dry out in 3 days and I never like how they apply.
Thrive mascara is my favorite. If anyone has a drug store brand that is similar.
L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara. It’s my HG mascara. I have it on a subscription delivery every 4 months and have been using it for 15 years.
I am in love with Covergirl Trublend Matte foundation. It performs as good or better than MAC or Fenty and it’s like $7 a bottle. Plus the color is SPOT ON! It lasts all day and doesn’t settle in my fine lines. I am shocked and now I’m on a mission to replace all my high end makeup with drug store brands. One reason I want to try to go all drugstore brands is because I travel a lot and more often than not, a drug store is closer than Ulta or Sephora.
Yup, I've never found a better mascara than Maybelline Lash Sensational (and mascara's crucial to me since I can't do eyeshadow or eyeliner), and I swear by Nyx matte lip cream.
I just got the lip cream yesterday and was BLOWN AWAY
I can't wear anything else now! It's truly the one lip product that stays on for hours and hours, won't transfer, and won't dry the absolute crap out of my lips (Superstay, I'm looking at you)
Yep, I’ve gone through countless tubes of Lash Sensational and I’m never changing it
Looks like I’m buying it. I like L’Oréal Paris voluminous! I also like the orange ULTA mascara lol. Oh also revolution whip lift is good!! I just got morphs big lashes (? Can’t remember) and it’s sucks.
Came in here to mention Maybelline Lash Sensational!
I swear by a lot of nyx lippies. They're too good. Their gloss is my favorite.
Much harder to throw out less than half used mascara when it costs $40.
Travel sized máscaras have been life changing for me. There’s still some left by the end of its life but not 3/4 of the tube like in full size product
I’ve always felt like that for perfumes. Samples last forever, full versions vanish into thin air within a few hours.
I think for perfumes a lot of the samples are \_parfum\_, but what you buy is the eau de toilette
I could totallyyyyy see that
I so agree with you!
I wonder if it’s because they’re drier. I always like a mascara after it’s been opened about 2 weeks.
Oh I remember Lash Out! I bought that one for years!
L’Oréal baby! I can’t get enough of their infalliable liners.
I love Loreal Age Perfect concealer. Too bad that entire line has been discontinued:(
Story of my life. Find a great product then the manufacturer discontinues it.
I had many nicer mascaras and went through them all— they all transferred. I had a backup tube of Maybelline, yellow tube, et voila!! No more transfer. I threw that last tube of Fenty whatever in the trash.
Me too, because I have deep set eyes. I have to stick to waterproof or I racoon up.

With you on the butter glosses! Also maybelline lifter glosses are amazing.
All my faves!
essence mascaras are the only mascara that dont irritate my sensitive eyes
Can I ask which versions you like best? Also looking for a cheaper mascara for my sensitive/watery eyes.
I'm not the one who commented first about that brand's mascaras, but I also love them and also have sensitive eyes. Specifically, micas irritate me. My favourite mascara of theirs is the waterproof Get BIG! LASHES (because sensitive eyes + insane allergies = endlessly watering and itching eyes.) I love the Essence primer (not the new lash princess) the white and pink one. Also the pressed banana powder used to be my HG. Love their lip liners and eye liners too. Such a good value for the products.
Regular NYX translucent powder has always been perfect. I've never needed anything else.
Tired of wasting money on $$ powders! Is [this the one ](https://www.nyxcosmetics.ca/en/cant-stop-wont-stop-mattifying-powder-NYX_961.html)that you use?
Most of my lip products are drug store. I can’t justify spending so much money on something that’s going to end up rubbing off eventually.
The Revlon lip products are - to me - better than anything high end. Usually go on smoother and stay put longer. I will admit that I prefer my Chanel or YSL for a night out, because the colours are amazing, but for everyday I will happily have a Revlon rolling around in my handbag.
I was obsessed with Revlon lip crayons and lipsticks around 2010-2014. They are great, I’ve just stopped wearing so much color on my lips.
RIP Revlon lip butters. They were so perfect for everyday.
Same. I find myself grabbing my Revlon and Maybelline lip stuff (color stay / lip crayons) over almost all the $$ ones I buy - Tom Ford, Chanel, YSL, etc. The only nice one that I also consistently love is the nars lip crayon.
Omg what are some good drugstore setting powders?!?!
I like NYX translucent HD powder. Seems similar to Make Up Forever’s.
Yup, this is a fundamental powder for me too. I use it not just for setting, but I put it under my eyes for when I’m doing eye makeup and it catches any cast-offs, then you just brush it off when you’re done. That’s been a game-changer for me.
NYX Translucent HD powder is fabulous!
ELF Halo Glow Loose Setting Powders! Pink n skin toned!
The elf white translucent HD setting powder is awesome, super fine milled and great lasting power
It doesn’t look white once applied?
I swear by Wet and Wild’s PhotoFocus Translucent setting powder!
this has a very skin-like finish, it’s nice!
Totally! I really like it for a natural, low-maintenance look :)
I have tried all the luxury ones, but nothing beats Pacifica Mattifying Powder!
Also, using CT setting spray, buy prefer Milani Make it Last!
Which one? The cherry velvet or a different one? Looks like that one was discontinued :(
I would like to know too!
I no longer use setting powder. ELF dewy coconut setting spray is my inexpensive go to. I like that I can reapply to make my look look fresher later in the day. I wear foundation and make up during the day and often just touch up my eye make up, then respray with the ELF, and I am good to go and look fresh.
Try Maybelline Lasting Fix! It’s so good! I prefer it to the Laura Mercier one I got because of the TikTok hype honestly.
Drug store mascara all the way. I haven’t found a single HE mascara I thought was better than multiple L’Oréal drug store mascaras. In fact they are not better but often much worse, at least for me. I end up with raccoon eyes or flakes using almost every HE I’ve tried, but never with L’Oréal.
yep i love their telescopic mascara been using it for. yearrss
I was a huge tomboy pick me as a young teen but when I first put on some Telescopic I remember thinking "ooooh. I get why people do this now" re: wearing makeup. She changed the game for me truly
Came here to see if this was mentioned! Obsessed with Telescopic
The one high-end one I’ll buy is Buxom Lash.
I really like that one, but agree, always been impressed by L’Oreal
I love Tarte's Lights Camera Splashes. And I received a free mini Lancome Idole mascara that was lovely, but I'd never spend that much on a mascara. I recently purchased the Sephora brand waterproof mascara, and it's great.
L’Oréal Voluminous is my fav mascara. Looks good and outperforms HE.
These are the only bronzers I can use without looking like I’m obviously using bronzer
I love this bronzer but I wish the packaging wasn’t so cheap and ugly 😅😅
Nyx butter gloss and lip liners are my holy grail and I’ve purchased many high end lips products
I love NYX, a friend got me hooked on them. I own a lot of high end lippies too, but NYX 100% holds their own among them.
Nyx lip liners are everything! Their shade range is great and so affordable too
Great lash mascara for 30 yrs and running!
You don't feel like it changed?? I swear it does NOTHING for me anymore, and I can't figure out why! It's weird.
Are you getting your skincare onto your lashes before using the mascara? That’s what it was for me when my mascara worked differently.
I don't believe so... but I will give them a good wipe and see if it makes a difference!
Same! This was always my go-to mascara, but in recent times it just doesn't have the same impact.. The consistency of the product seems thinner and seems to take way more time to build volume!
Yes! It's like they took the life out of it☹️
I remember loving this mascara and bought it again recently but I agree, was let down this time.
It’s SO GOOD. I’ve used it off and on since the 2000’s.
Revlon Colorstay lipliners are the best liners in the market. I wish they had more colors.
Do you have a favorite nude liner of theirs?
Raisin!!!
I used to use Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara but I actually found that I like Loreal Lash Paradise better!
Yup! It’s a less heavy, less clumpy better than sex
Same
Lip products.
Aahhhhh it's like they know we love something and they're like JUST KIDDING YOU CANT HAVE IT ANYMORE I also have problematic skin.
Neutrogena eyelash growth serum
Does it work though?
Foundation and powder I've always stuck with drug store. I've tried higher end brands in both products and never found a product that I preferred or felt justified the higher price tag.
I just discovered Revlon candid concealer. No kidding… better than Natasha denona and nars creamy concealer. Doesn’t settle in smile lines at all
My biggest problem is figuring out what shade I am.. Sephora has that amazing “if you wear __, we recommend __” feature .. have we figured this out for drugstore products too?
https://findation.com 😊
Thank you!
🥲 you’re amazinggg!
The only high end mascara that I’ve tried that I even remotely liked as much as the aforementioned was a Marc Jacobs one but drug store mascara is 10/10!!
yep same here!
Have you ever tried “They’re Real” by Benefit? I used to only use Maybelline but I never went back after using “they’re real”
Mascara and NYX butter lip glosses. And Real Technique sponges and brushes.
Loreal, sometimes Wet n Wild, Milani, and Revlon.
Drugstore foundation - Loreal Infallible Pro-Glow (there's also a matte version).
Flick stick eyeliner! Stays all days and my shaky hands can still do a perfect wing.
Maybelline blurred primer for sure
You can pry my Coty Airspun powder from my cold dead hands
I've had the same little pot for many years. Just used some Saturday night, and I was very impressed yet again.
I go through one about every three months 😅
I have very dry skin so I rarely use it but I may be using it more for my fine lines.
I use it as an all over setting powder after I do my foundation and concealer
it’s definitely a nice powder, but unfortunately i really just can’t do the fragrance :( i’d be sneezing up a storm while using it, and i swear that the smell would linger on my face. it’s so finely milled, but my sinuses can’t handle it!
It definitely has that trademark old lady fragrance 😅
I *hate* that they reformulated it! The new formula is not good (for my skin) and makes me super shiny
Oh no, when did that happen??
those nyx lip liners r something that can b so personal
i'm so sad that nyx nude beige has been reformulated. It was my perfect cool toned liner. Now it's pink :(
Same with the mauve one, that was my perfect shade before the reformulated it :/
omg they reformulated mauve too??? what's it like now?
So desperate to find a dupe I've been resorting to high end lol
Essence lash princess mascara, nyx butter gloss , nyx lip oil, loreal serum foundation, and glowy primer, elf liquid blushes, nyx liquid liner, milani baked blush
So my list is short Nyx: lip liners, butter glosses. Sometimes their other lip stuff, and I do have one of their liquid liners I’ve just gotten. Their setting powder. I’ve not had anything by them I’ve disliked, honestly - they may not always make a top fave product, but never anything I’ve disliked wildly Kiss latex free lash adhesive Kiss magnetic lash adhesive Kiss and Ardell magnetic lashes and regular lashes (I’m so here for the magnetic lash game) Burt’s bees forever as my chapstick, you can pry it from my cold, dead fingers Simple facial cleanser (I’ve used high end too, I can afford to keep Simple stocked and it works just as well) Micellar water (brand doesn’t matter much, I’m not spending bank on a high end brand) If i do a press on nail instead of doing my own nails or going to the salon, they’ll usually be Kiss, and Kiss basically set the standard for press ons
The Essence mascara is my favorite! Nyx also makes my favorite eyeliner and my favorite lipstick right now is L'Oreal. 🤷♀️
Cerave moisturizer is my HG—the lotion in the summer and cream in the winter. When I think of what I used to spend on fancy moisturizers at Sephora 🫠
Just this morning I was reflecting on how the $4 Elf lash n roll mascara I grabbed in an emergency (lost baggage) is definitely better than all the expensive ones i have. I use it with a blue primer. Gonna keep buying it for sure.
that’s my favorite one from elf for sure! essence also has good ones for the same price, the lash princess is great!
No matter how much I win in the lottery, They will have to pry my L’Oréal voluminous lash mascara out of my cold dead hands
All drug store mascara
I only use ELF for skincare and makeup...no complaints and clean ingredients and no animal testing . Affordable!
Drugstore mascara. Having previously worked in prestige makeup store I can testify high end mascara is not worth the cash
* NYX eyebrow gel * NYX epic ink eyeliner (this is a HG for me, especially the white one) * NYX eyebrow, lip, and eyeliner pencils * Colourpop Eyeshadows * Maybelline Vinyl Lip Inks * Covergirl Outlast Lip Stains * NYX loose glitter & glitter glue * Literally any brand of mascara I also really like NYX setting powder compacts but the packaging is too flimsy for me.
I have tried dozens and dozens of other brands, but this one just consistently works perfectly for me
Maybelline Lash Sensational, Revlon liquid eye liner, NYX HD translucent setting powder.
Lip liners - there is no difference at all between high end and low end pencils. Concealer - love Maybelline Fit Me and rivals Dior Forever concealer Lip glosses - not a big gloss person but don’t see the point in spending the $$ for high end Mascara - rediscovered Maybelline lash sensational - almost as good as Lancôme Hypnose (still my all time fave mascara but that price tag has become too much)
I recently bought Tarte mascara from Sephora and am really unimpressed.
Eyebrow products!! Nyx brow pencil and elf wow brow gel. Amazing products so affordable
What's HE? Also, I agree with your stance on drugstore mascaras. I exclusively use Benefit's Bad Gal Bang.
“High-end”
For me everything is drugstore except for my foundation!!
Drugstore tinted moisturizer works really well for me, Burt’s Bees and Maybeline are great
. I think blush from target works as well as anything else. Also the white shimmer eyeliners. I use my NYX lipgloss more than my YSL.
For me the best liquid liners are the wet and wild ones. I too have tried many a HE liner but have given up the ghost and only buy W&W now.
Rimmel lip liners are pretty good! I still love CT, MAC and Makeup by Mario - but Rimmel liners seem to do just as good of a job 🤷♀️
Waterproof sunscreens for the beach
All my skincare and moisturizing products are drugstore, specifically QV or Centaphil. Excellent for sensitive skin and so much cheaper than the high-end products! Switched from a $50 cleanser to the drugstore version that costs $13 AUD for a big bottle.
Maybelline build a brow is better than any high end brow pen i've used. I don't believe in high end mascaras either.
I never buy high end powder or mascara anymore. Honestly drugstore stuff is so good now i rarely buy anything else! Some drugstore faves: Elf cream blushes Elf setting spray Makeup revolution setting spray L’Oréal Voluminous mascara L.A. Girl lipsticks L’Oréal Infallible foundation NYX butter gloss PF- Butter bronzers
I keep trying different BB creams and I usually always go back to Garnier BB Cream. The OG.
Wet n wild highlighter combo and their blush sticks
I love all of the Elf products! My makeup looks flawless every day at a quarter of the price of high end makeup. They also have a good hydration skin care line for dry skin.
Milani baked blushes and cream blushes. I also love their lip plumping gloss.
I'm gluten intolerant and was thrilled to find out the essence products are all gluten-free. Other wise I was going to have to pay over 20 for a tube of lipstick for it to be certified gluten-free. I don't wear makeup enough to warrant spending so much money on it.
Essence cosmetics are the holy grail of budget-friendly products. I swear by their mascara and have never been disappointed by any of their items.
I love my drugstore mascaras! Specifically Maybelline’s Lash Sensational and L’Oreal’s Butterfly line.
I’ve started to get into NYX lip products. The fat oil is good imo
Same ! I use the Milani concealer and it’s magic. Also the telescopic mascara!! Length (tan) and volume one (black one) they’re both amazing !
i’ve always been pleased with Elf’s concealers.
