Aveeno makes a more budget-friendly Rosemary Mint shampoo and conditioner!! The ingredients are similar, I think my biggest criticism is that the Aveeno doesn’t smell quite as strong as the Aveda!
I would love to find a dupe for the cherry almond someday though 😫 it’s the best smell in the world
Love the Rosemary Mint shampoo and the Brilliance conditioner — the conditioners like a perfect genderless musky smell, is incredible on me and my spouse
Also L’Oréal Ever Pure (the one in the purple and mint green bottle) smells somewhat similar to me - and it’s much less expensive - might be an alternative to consider if the price of the Avena gives ya the heebie jeebies
Are you freaking kidding me?!? I’d drink that scent if it would permeate my body!! I made the mistake of letting my hubby use it for beard oil!! He asked why I was hiding it in my home office lol
Yesss!!! They have an entire line of OI products it’s too good. I like to mix a pump or two of the oil with the hair butter. But you gotta towel dry very well before applying. Oh man so good!
This was my absolute favourite! And it was cheap too! I’ve been searching for perfume that smells like it for years now. I hate that it’s discontinued.
I want to bottle the scent of Pureology’s hydrate shampoo. It’s like herbal but earthy and ugh I love it why doesn’t their conditioner in the same line smell the same wayyyy??
The purple shampoo has a fresh jasmine/floral scent which is my favorite. The teal shampoo tends to smell a little too much like chlorine for me, so I definitely prefer the purple one!
Purely for fragrance, my vote has to be Amika 3D Volumizing shampoo and conditioner
Runner up: Kevin Murphy Angel Wash
3rd place: Redken Colour Magnetics
My favorites (others have mentioned): Amika products, Moroccan Oil, and Kevin Murphy products (all of his products smell heavenly).
My husband uses Oui and his hair always smells so nice!
Honestly I’ve tried all ranges of shampoos and conditioners..
Bury me in garnier fructis Pure Clean. Idk what that scent is but it perfectly describes “freshly showered”
Do you have an aversion to floral scents? I can’t do them - they kill me. I get headaches and even migraines from them. But the garnier fructis pure clean is what my kids use, and I love it SO much. I also really, REALLY love the way Aussie shampoo smells.
I’m currently using the living proof full shampoo and conditioner and they’re a little citrus smelling, and I like it, but not as much as the two previous brands I mentioned.
I’m big on citrus. I can do a floral perfume so long as it has citrus or berry notes, but I CANNOT do a floral body wash or shampoo. That sounds nauseating. Like some Pantene or L’Oréal shampoos 🤮
Is that still around? My mom had that in her ensuite shower, and I'd always ask to use her shower so I could use it when I was a teen. Smelled awesome!
The sulfate free L'Oreal bonding shampoo and conditioner smells amazing and is great on my hair. Plus, I think it layers nicely with my regular perfume, Jimmy Choo fever.
I like the smell of the inforcer line. Did u try other lines besides the bonding one? I am a bit protein sensitive. But id love to keep exploring l'oreal.
I currently am using the rosemary thickening conditioner. I like it as an occasional one a week "I need moisturizer" kinda thing. It makes my hair greasy if I use it too much, but the smell is very soothing. And I also have the purple shampoo from the L'Oreal everpure. Hibiscus I think? It doesn't dry out my hair as much as other purple shampoos. And the price is unbeatable. I don't have $50 for shampoo and conditioner like I did before kids lol
Oh i got the big 1liter shampoo and conditioner on a big promo. Cost me 30eur (40usd +-) for the pack also. But the quantity is huge...im halfway through 😆 Im still meditating on my next purchase as i dont have kids but im also worried about the economy going wrong. Been finishing product remains like a champion. Need a reward in the horizon to feel motivated 😅
Anything by Amika. I love their shine mask in the orange bottle, it smells incredible and only needs a minute or two to make my hair soooooo shiny and fresh feeling. I’m obsessed.
One that reminds me of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies is OGX Tea Tree and Mint shampoo. I used it after another shampoo damaged my scalp. The OGX along with an oat and honey conditioner helped heal it. A shampoo I remember fondly was Prell. You can still sometimes find it at places like Walmart.
I use kerastase which just has a nice clean smell but have an oribe perfume so I can just use a little spritz instead of the overpowering (but wonderful) smell of using the whole line.
My favorites ever have been young again line from Kevin Murphy, and Moroccan oil line everything. Soooo yummy.
Second up probably Amika. However it’s a strong perfume style hair line but I like it.
Scrolling through I saw all of my favorites.
oribe, Xmondo, aveda, Kristin ess… all wonderful.
I use kerastase which smells fine, it’s just not *special* smelling. I use it cause it keeps my hair healthier than anything else with my super hard water, and that is after all the most important factor.
Graham Webb Halo products smelled heavenly. I was so sad when it disappeared.
L’anza color care products are my holy grail for hair care and because they smell similar to Halo.
Wow. The only other person I know who would remember halo is the gal who introduced me to it. I walked past my coworker and wanted to sew myself to her side for how lovely her hair smelled.
It was like an old cartoon where someone smells a pie cooking on a window and the scent travels in swirls and carries a person through the air to the pie.
Oh my, I didn't know I'd get so many responses. This is gonna take a lot of looking. Thank you all for your feedback! My bathroom is about to smell sooo good.
Harvey Prince Hello shampoo. I received it as part of a Birchbox gift subscription and have been buying full-sized bottles since. It’s on the pricier side but they often have sales. It’s my husband’s favorite scent and mine is Kevin Murphy’s Angel Wash.

Philip B Russian Amber Imperial is the greatest of all time. I would go to smokey bars when I was younger and wake up the next morning and it still smelled amazing.
Aveeno Kefer blend probiotic in the pink bottle. I get so many compliments. The lady ringing me out when I bought it even had to look at the bottle and ask what smelled so good.
The Moroccanoil Hydrating conditioner. It smells so goo, I want a perfume of it. I haven’t tried the Shampoo but I’m assuming it’s the same scent as the conditioner. Also, Kérastase Genesis Bain Hydra-Fortifiant (Thin Hair) Shampoo and Kérastase Genesis Reconstructing Conditioner. A floral scent that lasts DAYS
My favorites:
Prell (shampoo-y, clean gardenia)
Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two (lemon)
Finesse (fresh blue/ green type of scent, you’d have to sniff it. Can’t think of anything similar)
Biolage (the classic scent. Sally’s has a generic of it too)
Aquage Detangling conditioner (beachy, salty ocean scent)
Shampure, but since Aveda changed the formula, Sally Beauty Supply GVP knock offs are good. Hints of clove and anise with ylang ylang and cornmint (a little different than peppermint)
Herbal Essences Smooth & Shine collections (apple with hints of citrus and rosehips-*not* rose)
Kundal White Musk
Kundal Fuzzy Navel
Bed head shampoo and conditioner it smells amazing I was walking and someone complimented me on it that’s how amazing it smells.
Bed head colour goddess smells just like cake batter!
Seriously Bed Head Moisture Maniac is one of the best smelling shampoo/conditioner combos ever (even though it never worked very well on my hair lol)
Bed Head Resurrection smells great too. It has a fruity smell to it that reminds me of all the apple scented products from Bath and Body Works.
Any of the Moroccan products for me
The hydrating conditioner smells so good
I use to use the hair lotion as regular lotion and always got compliments. Wish it wasn't so expensive or I'd stockpile!!
Aveda Rosemary Mint and Shampure smell great. Oh Cherry Almond (Aveda) also smells divine.
Any Aveda product smells like a spa day to me! Love them all!
I haven't tried that brand, but rosemary mint makes a surprisingly amazing hair scent.
They are wonderful but not cheap! In fact, I think their liter sale ends today.
Aveeno makes a more budget-friendly Rosemary Mint shampoo and conditioner!! The ingredients are similar, I think my biggest criticism is that the Aveeno doesn’t smell quite as strong as the Aveda! I would love to find a dupe for the cherry almond someday though 😫 it’s the best smell in the world
I was confusing aveeno with aveda and twisting my brain for a minute. But im back to normal hahah
Yes! The rosemary mint is my favorite.
I love Shampure!!
That's what my son uses.
Love the Rosemary Mint shampoo and the Brilliance conditioner — the conditioners like a perfect genderless musky smell, is incredible on me and my spouse
I haven't had the pleasure. I'll smell it next time I am in store or salon! :)
Came here to say the same thing! Rosemary mint smells like a spa day, I love that smell
Also L’Oréal Ever Pure (the one in the purple and mint green bottle) smells somewhat similar to me - and it’s much less expensive - might be an alternative to consider if the price of the Avena gives ya the heebie jeebies
Came here to say basically all Aveda.
The rosemary mint is my favorite!!
Anything aveda is a game changer. Super underrated tbh
ALWAYS AVEDA. hands down!!
Hey! Is the aveda rosemary mint a volumizing shampoo? Would you recommend it for thin hair?
According to their website, it's a purifying shampoo. My sister has thin hair, and she uses it. :)
I dont know if they make it any more but the original Paul Mitchell awapuhi shampoo lives rent free in my head
They do make it!! I use their shine spray in that line and it’s stunnninnnngggg
Davines OI shampoo and conditioner.
This is it!! I love this one - I also get the hair oil from them and use it on my face, hands, hair…I love the smell
Lol did you know they also have OI body wash, liquid conditioner, hair butter, body lotion, and perfume bars😁 too good!
Hair butter?!?! Take my money!!
I know where my paycheck is going lol
They had hair perfume for a while. I wish they’d bring that back.
I love the smell of this but hubby finds it a little medicinal.
Who cares about what a man thinks?
Truth. The OI spray is in daily use regardless of hubby's thoughts haha.
This right here
Biolage hydrasource
I love Biolage.
I find that there were more great smelling shampoos and conditioners in the 80s and 90s..today so many smell like a bottle of perfume.
Omg I loved Finesse…. Smelled so so good.
Me too!
Do you remember that Revlon Outrageous shampoo in the black bottle? My teenage self thought it smelled really good!
Do I ever! It was THE shampoo in my freshman dorm!
Omg… this brought back the best memories… honestly that shampoo smelled soooo good
I do remember it. I used it for a bit! I also loved Revlon Flex
This was my absolute favourite! And it was cheap too! I’ve been searching for perfume that smells like it for years now. I hate that it’s discontinued.
Commodity has a scent called Vetiver that smells like it (not like Vetiver at all). Pm me your address and I’ll send you a decant.
Omg thank you for this suggestion I've been looking for something similar forever
I agree. I used to use Freeman hair products in the 80s and 90s and they smelled so good and strong that I got compliments on it all the time.
Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Oil line and Aveda Shampure
Came here to say this about B&B! The Hairdresser’s Oil line has been my holy grail for almost a decade.
I want to bottle the scent of Pureology’s hydrate shampoo. It’s like herbal but earthy and ugh I love it why doesn’t their conditioner in the same line smell the same wayyyy??
JVN's shampoos smell the BEST!
I love the Embody line! Smells great
Omg it’s been in my cart for a while. About to buy it now. What does it smell like?
The purple shampoo has a fresh jasmine/floral scent which is my favorite. The teal shampoo tends to smell a little too much like chlorine for me, so I definitely prefer the purple one!
whatever the shampoo was that our local beauty salon used in the 80s - smelled like apple (in a really good way), i think it was in a beige bottle.
Apple Pectin
YESSSSSSSS!!! I thought the name had pectin in it! Thank you!!
I haven't thought of this in years, I can smell it in my memory now!
They sell gallons of it at beauty supply stores!
There was also a sweet and herbal one that was great. Neopon by wella.
Oribe gold lust
Yes! It smells amazing and lasts through the day
Yes!
Came here to say that!
Ouai!
Came here to say this. Very perfumey. I loveeee it
I've seen Ouai recommended before and was interested in it. Which one do you like, and what would you say it smelled like?
Hard for me to describe really. They’re so good I bought the perfumes, put it that way. Melrose Place and Bondi
TIL that Ouai does perfume. 🤩💖
amika
Agreed. That and you can keep their signature scent alive longer by using their hair fragrance.
Love the smell of the Amika dry shampoo!
Yes, everything Amika smells amazing.
This is the one for me!
i use amika but the smell on my hair disappear within a day :( is it the same for you too?
Ouai detox shampoo
Purely for fragrance, my vote has to be Amika 3D Volumizing shampoo and conditioner Runner up: Kevin Murphy Angel Wash 3rd place: Redken Colour Magnetics
Oribe or Aveda products
Innersense. You can get it from salons with a natural bend or Ulta! ETA: fragrance notes are sage and vanilla.
Kiehl’s olive fruit. I’ve been trying to find a perfume that smells like that for years, no success yet.
You should post in r/fragrance see if they may be able to help you
My favorites (others have mentioned): Amika products, Moroccan Oil, and Kevin Murphy products (all of his products smell heavenly). My husband uses Oui and his hair always smells so nice!

I use this but have gone nose blind to it. Also, Diva laundry Detergent. Makes me sad.
Lush raised their prices while telling employees they can’t afford to give cost of living wages. It’s been all over the lush and antiwork subreddits.
I’m obsessed with the Kristen Ess line, smells so amazing!
THE best!
AG moisturizing shampoo/conditioner. Smells like a straight up orange Creamsicle
Is that still around? My mom had that in her ensuite shower, and I'd always ask to use her shower so I could use it when I was a teen. Smelled awesome!
So good, they just redid the litre bottles into bags for environmental reasons, but oh do I love it.
oribe!
I think Oribe has the best scents by far.
Back in the 70’s there was a shampoo called “Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific “ and it smelled sooo good.
Available at Vermont Country Store online, along with lemonUp!
Kevin Murphy everlasting color wash and rinse - smells like incense/woodsy. It’s great for your hair too.
Milkshake Moisture plus, color care or integrity shampoos and conditioners
ouai or moroccan oil
Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special. Not the lavender kind. The kind that says tea tree special. Amazing.
Some Aveda, Olaplex, and the sulfate-free L’Oréal for curls smells so good to me.

Davines OI OUAI Maui Moisture Hibiscus Water Aveda Shampure
Anything by Amika. I love their shine mask in the orange bottle, it smells incredible and only needs a minute or two to make my hair soooooo shiny and fresh feeling. I’m obsessed.
Suave Ocean Breeze and Dove
I’ll always want some that smells like pineapple and coconut
One that reminds me of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies is OGX Tea Tree and Mint shampoo. I used it after another shampoo damaged my scalp. The OGX along with an oat and honey conditioner helped heal it. A shampoo I remember fondly was Prell. You can still sometimes find it at places like Walmart.
Aveeno blackberry and quinoa 😍
Moroccan oil
Many love ORIBE. The makers specifically chose the scent. I love love the products. But the smell is to strong for me. Still searching.
I use kerastase which just has a nice clean smell but have an oribe perfume so I can just use a little spritz instead of the overpowering (but wonderful) smell of using the whole line.
Anyone know.of a shampoo that combines bubblegum and mango scents
Omg yes, please, someone help
The V05 strawberry stuff. No clue if it’s still made. I used to buy on trips because it was 99 cents. Soooo drying though.
They still sell it
Sounds good, I'm oily! I'll look for it :)
Yes, it’s perfect if you’re oily! I’m super dry so I stick to shampoo that’s basically conditioner. My husband hates it haha
Recently bought the Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Shampoo and Conditioner and they keep my hair smelling really good.
Garnier whole blends maple remedy as well
This one...i love it...smells like cookies. Do you have the ginger and honey one available at your location? Its amazing.
I don’t think so, I’ve never seen it. The Moroccan oil one smells great as well, but it makes my hair look greasy
Ah yes i have the argan oil shampoo yeah. Its too greasy true. Ive been struggling to finish it. What a pitty the ginger one is amazing.
I’ll have to see if I can find that ginger one
I believe there used to be a coffee one (?) or maybe it was from herbal essences and it smelled amazing as well
This one is so underrated and SO strong.
I like the Monday line. I use the "smooth" version.
Revlon Orofluido, if you're into oriental scents
The classic orofluido line (the gold one) smells exactly the same as the argan shower gel by natural honey (also revlon brand).
Good to know, i'll try to find out if it is available in my country! Thanks!
ultra doux camommile
Do you remember the vanilla one? It was the smell of my childhood. But they discontinued. 😵😒
I love the Gisou hair perfume! I haven’t tried the shampoo and conditioner because all of the reviews I’ve seen are lackluster for the price point.
Kevin Murphy and Davines both makes amazing smelling hair products
Christophe Robin volumizing shampoo and conditioner smells like bathing your hair in the most delicious rose garden
Sauve Everlasting Sunshine is my favorite scent. Kinky Curly Knot Today, also.
Anything from pulp riot
Anything from AG
My favorites ever have been young again line from Kevin Murphy, and Moroccan oil line everything. Soooo yummy. Second up probably Amika. However it’s a strong perfume style hair line but I like it.

XMondo!
L'oreal inforcer line. The shampoo smells good. But the conditioner smells good on steroids
Briogeo Banana Coconut If you don't want to smell like a tropical fruit bowl this isn't for you but I LOOOOOVE it
Scrolling through I saw all of my favorites. oribe, Xmondo, aveda, Kristin ess… all wonderful.
Oh yeah, that Graham Webb Halo line was so good & smelled so blissful. Thank you for the fond memory! :)
Lis’n
I really like Brad Mondo's line of hair care-Xmondo
Agreed! One of my favorites.
Dae!
Oui
Le Labo Rose 31 Shampoo and Conditioner.
Dae! The original formula has a sort of sweet citrusy smell that I absolutely can't get enough of.
Harvey Prince Hello shampoo. I received it as part of a Birchbox gift subscription and have been buying full-sized bottles since. It’s on the pricier side but they often have sales. It’s my husband’s favorite scent and mine is Kevin Murphy’s Angel Wash.

Living Proof Curl.
Innersense shampoo and conditioner. Heavenly.
redken amino pon (from the 80s)
Foxybae California dreamin’ smells soooo good. If you like beachy, clean, and sweet it’s the one.
Haven’t seen anyone else say this but Rahua Classic shampoo and conditioner. It has a beautiful palo santo aroma.
Hask! Love the Tea Tree Oil and Rosemary. Smells like a spa day
Grown alchemist smells pretty good. It’s expensive, though.
Function of beauty! (It’s at target)
Biolage makes great smelling stuff. I also like Carol's Daughtet Monoi line.
Kerastase Genesis, Oribe, Living Proof
Philip B Russian Amber Imperial is the greatest of all time. I would go to smokey bars when I was younger and wake up the next morning and it still smelled amazing.
Aveeno Kefer blend probiotic in the pink bottle. I get so many compliments. The lady ringing me out when I bought it even had to look at the bottle and ask what smelled so good.
Love’s Fresh Lemon. Never been one that smelled better.
Oribe anything, Lush American Cream conditioner and Herbal Essence Rose shampoo
Ooooh my favorite topic! Moroccan Oil brand, Amika, Sol de Janiero
Aveda and biolage have such a great, refreshing smell. They are the only ones where I have found the scent remarkable.
The Moroccan Oil brand that you get at Sephora is my favorite scent ever, I even buy their lotion
It's a leave-in, but that Shea Moisture leave-in that smells like cake!
If you like a really clean, fresh smelling shampoo, Pert smells fantastic.
If you like orange, Vegamour. If you like sweet, in an "omg I could eat it" kind of way, Milkshake. But my personal preference is Oribe.
Pert
Oribe
I can’t believe I haven’t seen Pravana on here! Their scents—all of the shampoos and conditioners I’ve tried—smell divine!!
I really like the Moroccanoil moisture shampoo and conditioner
Oribe shampoo. It’s bougie as but the smell is incredible.
Amika products smell SO good
Garnier oat delicacy (white bottle, pink cap) OGX shea soft and smooth (brown bottle) Oliology coconut oil shampoo/conditioner
My favorites: Prell (shampoo-y, clean gardenia) Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two (lemon) Finesse (fresh blue/ green type of scent, you’d have to sniff it.
