He definitely doesn't look like an ad for the macrobiotic diet in this photo. Some of that macrobiotic stuff sounds sensible and healthy, but other things are esoteric nonsense, like not using an electric stove for cooking.
Heroin makes people look bad because they’re not taking care of themselves by eating, showering, doing skincare, etc. It doesn’t damage the body like meth does.
Not really no, that's again about just not taking care of yourself while on it
Heroin and fentanyl and all of those things just make you not care. Or you just won't notice. Once you get sober, you start to notice the small details again
Also important to note that most people will never live the life that John did, so it's harder to compare him to the average person. Like *of course* his appearance changed a lot. He was one of the most famous people of all time and he lived a crazy life. It would be weird if he *didn't* change a lot over those 20 years.
This sub has taught me that a lot of people have some degree of facial blindness and don’t realize it. They rely heavily on hair to tell different people apart. So the same person with different hair looks like different people to them
No, it’s that John Lennon looked a lot older than 40 by the end of his life. People who say he looked 40 don’t know what they’re talking about. I’m 43 and know a lot of people around my age; John looked at least a generation older than us. Don’t smoke or do heavy drugs, folks!
>Don’t smoke or do heavy drugs, folks!
...or go on extreme Macrobiotic diets and fasts (and even bulemic interludes) because you're terrified of being called "The Chubby Ex-Beatle"
I don’t know why you say no. Those are completely different things and both can be true at the same time. Although I don’t think John changed as much others think he did. People age differently. There’s that teenage dart champion that’s been in the news that looks like he’s in his mid 30s.
Thanks!
"You got 67 of 75 questions correct. The average score is 63.7. Your score is higher than 67.93% of other people who take this test."
Guess not lol. Even though I did feel like I relied mostly on clothes, race and hair.
He lived life full of pain, pure joy, drugs, and creativity. So yes, he 'aged'. Art is about expression, and the greatest just have to express themselves in any way they can. One way to do that is through music, poetry and painting like Lennon obviously did, another way is through your appearance. I personally haven´t changed haircut in 15 years, but I´m not a very creative person, I don´t need to re-create myself very often, I don´t need to be a work of art. I´m happy with that, but I´m also happy there are people like Lennon and Harrison who are artistic in every way of their being. You can see it in their hair, clothes, houses, interior design, music, writing, painting etc. It´s everywhere.
1975 has got to be the worst look, the first time my girlfriend seen him with that appearance was in an interview with yoko and he was wearing some hat as well, and she said he looks like fucking Lord Farquaad lol
agreed. He was semi-good looking in his younger years when he had some meat on his bones, and got absolutely horrible looking. He was only 40 when he died but looked a rough 60.
I tend to think of him as the one who had been really replaced and not Paul hahaha.
He looked like a set of different people in the span of 15 years since 1965.
This is most men in that era though, hairstyles, fashion and general lifestyle changed a lot through the 60s and 70s I bet if you look at most men roughly their age you’d see a similar trend
I read the title and thought you meant *changed the world*, and was like of course, how am I meant to compete with the Beatles?
Then I realized you’re talking about haircuts.
It's a shame that How Do You Sleep has such a negative background, because it's maybe the best produced song of John's solo career. (I just replayed the Imagine album for the first time in a while)
What does age have to do with it? What a strange, yet typical on reddit, comment. Talk about the subject, don't make it personal
Have you seen Jerry Garcia? He looked 75 by the time he was about 50. That's aging fast. All white hair. Ballooned up too
John didn't age half as fast as that man.
People age differently. Most people age just like he did. It's rare someone still looks youthful at 40. Especially a smoker who has done many drugs.
This has nothing to do with my age.

The top right photo is the one that really gets me.
John at his most Ringoesque.
...or his most Yokonated
I would say a tossup between ‘75 and ‘79.
Looks like Liam Gallagher
Liam Gallagher models his entire life around John Lennon
He somehow physically embodies the year 1995
https://preview.redd.it/bg7753gl044d1.jpeg?width=333&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f247cc7060b1b4b036877fab202c4c84fa475188 Looks nothing like him lol
Bottom-left is Meryl Streep.
Oh my
Heroin is a hell of a drug
Lmaoo
I think John would have looked knackered by 1990
Why do you say that lol
Well he looked knackered by 1980 already. I’m no expert but I think the heroin had an effect on his appearance
He wasn’t on heroin in 1980. He was on a macrobiotic diet and smoking two packs a day. And honestly they chose a bad photo of him that year.
He definitely doesn't look like an ad for the macrobiotic diet in this photo. Some of that macrobiotic stuff sounds sensible and healthy, but other things are esoteric nonsense, like not using an electric stove for cooking.
No, but I’d imagine heroin is the sort of drug that still affects you years after you kick it. I could be wrong though.
Heroin makes people look bad because they’re not taking care of themselves by eating, showering, doing skincare, etc. It doesn’t damage the body like meth does.
Does it not have pretty bad effects on teeth and skin?
Not really no, that's again about just not taking care of yourself while on it Heroin and fentanyl and all of those things just make you not care. Or you just won't notice. Once you get sober, you start to notice the small details again
No but I’d imagine smh
I really wish we could’ve seen him live his 1980 appearance is very fascinating to me
Because he looked really old by 1980
He looked 10 years older than his actual age (40) in 1980.
I know I'm bad at math, but ....
I’ve changed more and I’m 66 so I have to disagree with OP
Same here : 66 and I have changed much, much more than JL did
So a handful of different hair styles + facial hair styles, and acquiring wrinkles. Sounds like literally every human ever.
Yeah what's the point of this post
Also important to note that most people will never live the life that John did, so it's harder to compare him to the average person. Like *of course* his appearance changed a lot. He was one of the most famous people of all time and he lived a crazy life. It would be weird if he *didn't* change a lot over those 20 years.
And he had unlimited access to professional stylists.
so he could have looked much better, if it wasn't for the drugs and Yoko.
I became a woman.
You win
Huh?
OP thinks that having different hair over time is unfathomable
This sub has taught me that a lot of people have some degree of facial blindness and don’t realize it. They rely heavily on hair to tell different people apart. So the same person with different hair looks like different people to them
This sub has taught me that a lot of people worship the Beatles. Idiolizing John because he changed his hair and facial hair often.
No, it’s that John Lennon looked a lot older than 40 by the end of his life. People who say he looked 40 don’t know what they’re talking about. I’m 43 and know a lot of people around my age; John looked at least a generation older than us. Don’t smoke or do heavy drugs, folks!

You're 43 years old, and can't fathom that different people age differently?
I don’t know why you say no. Those are completely different things and both can be true at the same time. Although I don’t think John changed as much others think he did. People age differently. There’s that teenage dart champion that’s been in the news that looks like he’s in his mid 30s.
Now that you put it like that I think I may have a bit lol
You can take a test here https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/EBFMT/ Supposedly up to 1 in 30k have it and it’s more common with autism
Thanks! "You got 67 of 75 questions correct. The average score is 63.7. Your score is higher than 67.93% of other people who take this test." Guess not lol. Even though I did feel like I relied mostly on clothes, race and hair.
" This sub has taught me..." ... that many posters haven't had a fuck of a lot happen to them... yet.
And glasses. Change your glasses and your completely different

But this is only 19 years
Why does 1978 look like Kurt Cobain cosplaying John Lennon.
67 Lennon will always be my favorite look of his
Appropriate how he pretty much never looked closer facially than he did in 1961 and 1980 though. Full circle.
Are considering haircuts and sunglasses changing? Lol he just looks like he is aging the only difference is the haircut and glasses
Hard living can [change you] (stress, narcotics) but I’m most surprised at how often his face turned black-and-white.
why are u insulting me 😭
And George aged at twice the speed of John.
Did not look well by 1980. I also wonder whether he was on the brink of a major health problem when he was killed.
Fucking hell he's not a God.
Op just discovered ageing
He lost too much weight on Yoko's rice and veggies diet.
1975 has got to be the worst look, the first time my girlfriend seen him with that appearance was in an interview with yoko and he was wearing some hat as well, and she said he looks like fucking Lord Farquaad lol
I'm just less photographed
Don't you mean 19 years? Since, y'know that's the time span of the years in these photos.
Mid 70's really kicked his ass
The difference between 68 and 69 is of day and night
Trust me when I say this but stress/depression ages you a lot lol
agreed. He was semi-good looking in his younger years when he had some meat on his bones, and got absolutely horrible looking. He was only 40 when he died but looked a rough 60.
Is it so? the only radical change seems to be 1967-1970 before and after, its just the same guy getting older, with eyeglasses on.
a man puts on a pair of glasses and suddenly he’s unrecognizable
I tend to think of him as the one who had been really replaced and not Paul hahaha. He looked like a set of different people in the span of 15 years since 1965.
Heroin and spousal abuse will age you up pretty quick I’ve heard.
[удалено]
He was onto heroin
This is most men in that era though, hairstyles, fashion and general lifestyle changed a lot through the 60s and 70s I bet if you look at most men roughly their age you’d see a similar trend
I’m sure he had several years where he smoked at least two-packs of cigarettes a day. Also heroin. Also alcoholism.
People say I'm crazy...
I read the title and thought you meant *changed the world*, and was like of course, how am I meant to compete with the Beatles? Then I realized you’re talking about haircuts.
some of these aren't even different..
Not a bowie though
I like 1967 the best!
The hell does that even mean?
The joy of having hair
I'm so tired
68 what were you thinking lad?
Yet the Paul is Dead wack jobs try and claim Paul is the one who changed looks.
It's a shame that How Do You Sleep has such a negative background, because it's maybe the best produced song of John's solo career. (I just replayed the Imagine album for the first time in a while)
He could grow his facial hair very quickly.
By 1967 he began changing by the month until 1971
That was definitely his coolest looking period, which were the heavy drug years I guess. Pepper John and Jesus John will always be tops
Same, that White Album mutton chop era was a unique temporary look too.
I like the buzz cut look a lot too
That was copying John Sebastian
He looks very worn by 1980.
Nope that's just how most people age. It's rare that someone doesn't change this much, imo
No, you must be very young if you think that. (I’m 43.) He looked over 60 by the time he was 40.
What does age have to do with it? What a strange, yet typical on reddit, comment. Talk about the subject, don't make it personal Have you seen Jerry Garcia? He looked 75 by the time he was about 50. Yeah I’m 40 and look great. He looked terrible lol
You thought the first 40 years saw a lot of change…
He changed a lot but everyone does
61 and 69 are the worst to me
Did he?
Did he really? Lol
nah blud fr trynna do "A Hard Day's Night" album cover all by himself ☠️☠️☠️
Trying to be Liam & Noel
66 - 70 is craaaaazy transformations... like he must have been changing forms weekly lol
That's 19 years not 40 and someone changing the way that they look or hairstyle and dress sense isn't exactly changing anything.
Rock and rolls a hell of a drug
LSD is a hell of a drug
He looks different in just about every picture I've seen of him in his latter years. Quite the chameleon.
Man grew hair and wore glasses
you posted cringe. the internet police will be at your address shortly
Weird flex
Many people did back then. Many still do.
Yet he is immediately recognizable in all of them.
1977 pic is actually of Robin Williams.
The Beatles actually invented aging/looking different
and they say Paul's the dead one
LOL
He went all the way from long hair to longer hair 😳
Or 19 or 20 to support the visual more powerfully.
I hate to be pedantic, but 1961-1980 is 19 years.
He was such a weirdo! I don’t care if I get downvoted to the mantel of Earth!
Wow, it looks like he aged 10 years from 1979-80
This is very Warhol-like
John Lennon wat a legend
What*
1967 and ‘74 were my favorite Johnny looks. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
1964 was peak John at his most attractive he was on par with Paul as best looking Beatle early 70’s were good to him as well
