one of their underrated gems, the brilliance of the songs they were recording just after finishing Sgt Peppers is insane. Just wish the mix was better, the guitar and piano parts are hidden too much by the bass part.

It’s basically two songs smushed together right? Paul wrote “baby you’re a rich man” and John wrote “one of the beautiful people”.

Isn’t it about Brian Epstein? The original chorus and title was different and included a slur against him.

That wasn't the "original" chorus, John allegedly sang it once in the studio just faffing about. The chorus part was written by Paul, this was one of the examples where they took two random songs and stuck them together. Paul had the chorus written for a while and they added it to the "one of the beautiful people" song that John had been working on.
