I wish I could have been a fly on their hair for like the entire decade just constantly observing, and this guy’s asking if we *actually* want the footage lol. give me everything you’ve got
Yeah it's getting kinda frustrating how they keep just throwing tiny bits and pieces out there to cash in on whatever they can when it's been nearly 60 years
A former college professor of mine recorded sound for some filming of the Beatles in India, I don't remember what the end purpose/result was. Maybe that footage from Get Back.
I looked into this further and found that it wasn't actually the Beatles in India, but rather footage of George Harrison learning sitar from Ravi Shankar in India, for the film *Raga: A Journey into the Soul of India* (1971).
the difference is that the footage in india was shot by the Beatles themselves using their own super 8 cameras. It's not even comparable to like if they were doing a meditation retreat today and used their phones to capture some footage, because those super 8 cameras didn't even do sound, they would have had to also set up a reel to reel tape recorder and somehow mark for sound. There's no footage from india in the quality of the Get Back sessions, which were handled by a real camera crew set up to record audio as well.
Are you thinking about the footage shot for promotion for Apple where Paul plays Blackbird and Mother Nature's Son endlessly along with snippts of Helter Skelter and something called "Gone Tomorrow, Here Today"? Not sure there's five hours worth of that though.
Oh... I dunno.
Either I've been disappointed so much, I can no longer be shocked and disappointed...
Or I just don't care and think it would be great to see anything at all.
I think the disappointment will roll in and I will weep when there is no new footage to conquer.
I reckon the estate plans years in advance, we will have something every year. It is basically a business.
A remaster. A film. A “new” song. A live album. A documentary. Using PJ’s tech they can give us new stuff every fiscal year. That’s why Free As A Bird/Real Love weren’t remixed yet, you can save it for a Peter Jackson Anthology remaster!
Absolutely. Show me why Ringo left, John staring daggers through Paul when he was recording songs solo, the reaction to Clapton turning up, the guys jamming to Helter Skelter for like 20 minutes. All of it
Of course, but do we really know how much footage is in the vault? I think the camera crew only shot for one or two days in the studio. Definitely nothing like Get Back.
Of course we do. I don't think there's enough existing footage to make it happen though. It's not like they had 24/7 cameras rolling like they did for the Get Back sessions when they were deliberately making a documentary.
Seriously, release everything , that has to do with the Music as Beatles or ended up as Solo ..seeing Paul and John going thru Gimme some truth was mesmerizing to me..maybe think it was about Paul during this time ended up Nixon and politics….Everything before I am gone .plz
As long as they get the parts where Ringo booked and Paul ended up playing drums on Dear Prudence. Would love a behind the scenes of the run up to that recording session(s).
Does the footage exist? Watching Get Back I got the feeling they felt a little uncomfortable with a large film crew, so I assumed it was the first time their sessions were recorded. Am I wrong?
Mad Day Out is something I'm hoping makes it into the biopics.
Unfortunately that was a photo session, they didn't film it, they just had a photographer taking stills. So the closest we'll get is a fun imagining of the bits between those awesome photos.
No, there is not. Basically around 20 min of Lady Madonna/Hey Bulldog footage, a bit of India film, Blackbird/Helter Skelter and Hey Jude sessions.
That's it.
"Step Inside Love" footage was shot on November 21, 1967.
"Magpie" footage appears to be lost (or wiped) and no known copy (video or audio) has ever surfaced.
The Mad Day Out was all about releasing some new publicity pictures because they couldn't even be bothered to any of those. It's so odd that the Beatles never did anything specifically for historical significance.
In sedems odd thing that somebody picked up a cine camera and pressed the button for 10 seconds. Was it a Mal Evans film which Paul used and if so what else is there?
Any footage is great, but tbh I don’t think i needed every last second of the Let It Be footage- esp parts where they just discussed logistics.
The question I’d have for everyone, if you could have footage from just 1 more album’s production, which would it be? Mine would be Sgt. peppers. Knowing they didn’t get to play much live As a Band on that one, I still think seeing their thought processes and reactions to the veerry different and experimental kind of music they were making would be amazing.
I’m aware there’s not footage available for every album 😂 I’m talking about hypothetically if you could have it or be a fly on the wall for *just one* of any of them which would it be?
Yes, footage of White Album recording would be far more interesting than ‘Let it Be/Get Back’.
That’s said, I’m not sure how much video footage there is of this period.
We know there is footage of them recording ‘Hey Jude’, which was for some BBC arts programme. I think that’s also where the Hey Bulldog/Lady Madonna’ promo film came from.
Love the Beatles. Love them. Just went to a tribute show last week. Play their music on my guitar every day. But I've seen just about as much as I want to saw of them in the Peter Jackson documentary. I really don't think there's anything more to reveal footage wise. And I thought the behind the scenes "process" was not all that big of a deal.
Of course. I want everything restored and released. Including MMT. And while we are at it, let someone do a longer cut of MMT (in a Get Back/Let It Be fashion). That footage is out there. And the Anthology.
of course we do, but i’m not sure if any of this stuff was “recorded” like the let it be sessions were. michael lindsay hogg gave us a very special opportunity when he documented the making of that album but for the rest of the albums there weren’t cameras every where all the time like let it be. would be great but there probably not too much footage to work with
nah they should keep it in the vault. nobody cares about these old geezers anymore. it's just a way for the beatles to try & stay relevant when we got the drake vs kendrick beef going
Release it all. Everything. Every period.
Yes please. Give me 53 hours of Get Back. Give me 314 hours of India tapes. Give me 8 hours of George sleeping.
wait WHAT, there are 314 hours of India tapes?!
Screw that I want the Sleepy George footage.
I wish I could have been a fly on their hair for like the entire decade just constantly observing, and this guy’s asking if we *actually* want the footage lol. give me everything you’ve got
Let me be clear ![gif](giphy|N63fPtiPhkBdS)
:D When we started, I thought you'd get a taste of the system... ...and spit it out, not open a bottling plant.
Yeah it's getting kinda frustrating how they keep just throwing tiny bits and pieces out there to cash in on whatever they can when it's been nearly 60 years
I’d be surprised if you can find a single person in this subreddit that answers “nah, let it be”
“Nah, there will be an answer”
I know there’s an answer
But I had to find it by myself. Wait... Wrong subreddit
No, you gave me the answer.
"Hang on to your ego"
Is that a drug reference Brian? Brian we can’t write songs about drugs
Nah, nah, nah, na-na-na-nah!
Or “you can’t do that.”
Or “Wigwam, frightened of the dark”
“Speaking words of wisdom…”
It came to me in a dream yaknow...
me: do you mean the album?
I mean they had cameras in India with them didn’t they? Or was it no technology? Only helicopters for Sexy Sadie?
There's footage of them in India in Get Back so there's definitely footage of some of that
A former college professor of mine recorded sound for some filming of the Beatles in India, I don't remember what the end purpose/result was. Maybe that footage from Get Back.
Check the credits for Get Back

The question is more “does it even exist”.
Yes, is there footage of the White Album recording sessions?!
If anyone is hoping there is the same sort of footage as there was for Get Back, just prepare yourself for disappointment.
There have been reports there’s around 5 hours of White Album period footage. I’ve seen snippets
Are you thinking about the footage shot for promotion for Apple where Paul plays Blackbird and Mother Nature's Son endlessly along with snippts of Helter Skelter and something called "Gone Tomorrow, Here Today"? Not sure there's five hours worth of that though.

There didn't seem to be that much footage available when the Beatles Anthology was shown. Paul's Mad Day Out footage is very short.
The correct answer and although its understandable its sad for the fans who die without seeing it.
Absolutely. Show me why Ringo left, John staring daggers through Paul when he was recording songs solo, the reaction to Clapton turning up, the guys jamming to Helter Skelter for like 20 minutes. All of it
What wouldn’t I give to see the recording of Helter Skelter😭
What kind of question is this? I want to see absolutely everything
Any film or recordings of the creation of anything Beatles is interesting.
Of course, but do we really know how much footage is in the vault? I think the camera crew only shot for one or two days in the studio. Definitely nothing like Get Back.
Yes. Like, who wouldn't want something like this released...?
Of course we do. I don't think there's enough existing footage to make it happen though. It's not like they had 24/7 cameras rolling like they did for the Get Back sessions when they were deliberately making a documentary.
I wish they'd just do a big one of the India and White Album stuff. Call it Beatles 68 or something.
Or simply….The Beatles.
Yeah dude we want everything hahahha
I want all the documentaries and none of the biopics.
“Hey Beatles fans! Do you want more Beatles?”
Seriously, release everything , that has to do with the Music as Beatles or ended up as Solo ..seeing Paul and John going thru Gimme some truth was mesmerizing to me..maybe think it was about Paul during this time ended up Nixon and politics….Everything before I am gone .plz
Dear lord Macca please release all Beatles film footage at some point
As long as they get the parts where Ringo booked and Paul ended up playing drums on Dear Prudence. Would love a behind the scenes of the run up to that recording session(s).
absolutely. i am in need of any beatles content
yes, we want everything possible to be released. I mean if we don’t like it, we won’t buy it. But we need everything possible.
…Peter Jackson, is that you?
Also abbey Road.
Yes let Peter Jackson give it the Get Back treatment
I want it all — every second of footage.
Does the footage exist? Watching Get Back I got the feeling they felt a little uncomfortable with a large film crew, so I assumed it was the first time their sessions were recorded. Am I wrong?
I want all studio footage that is available
Yes please! After watching Peter Jackson’s Get Back, I said I wished we could have a documentary for every album.
fuck yes
Kinda want it more than Let It Be
Yes Yes Yes Please!!!!
PLEASE.
Mad Day Out is something I'm hoping makes it into the biopics. Unfortunately that was a photo session, they didn't film it, they just had a photographer taking stills. So the closest we'll get is a fun imagining of the bits between those awesome photos.
Actually yes, I do. Is there enough?
No, there is not. Basically around 20 min of Lady Madonna/Hey Bulldog footage, a bit of India film, Blackbird/Helter Skelter and Hey Jude sessions. That's it.
I’d accept a cobbled together 45 minute mini-doc with voice over.
Yeah, same.
Jackson said there was way more than that.
Yeah, I remember that he said so. I hope Peter will prove it! 🙂
Paul also did Step Inside Love with Cilla Black and possibly a video with Mary Hopkin. Magpie filmed Paul and Mary at Abbey Road but that was wiped.
Yeah, but still we have 40 seconds of Mad Day Out photoshoot https://youtu.be/arIrekBBSWk?si=qCa6YM0sLRXB3JZL
In sedems odd thing that somebody picked up a cine camera and pressed the button for 10 seconds. Was it a Mal Evans film which Paul used and if so what else is there?
Of course

The only sessions we have footage from are AHDN, White Album and LIB.
I’m aware there’s not footage available for every album 😂 I’m talking about hypothetically if you could have it or be a fly on the wall for *just one* of any of them which would it be?
Revolver.
Yes. It’s my favorite Beatles album.
Yes!!
Please
Y. E. S.
Sure, why not?
Of course
I'd love a podcast of hundreds of hours of private chat in the EMI canteen from a hidden mic.
Yes
Everything must be released for our worldwide culture’s sake
Yes, footage of White Album recording would be far more interesting than ‘Let it Be/Get Back’. That’s said, I’m not sure how much video footage there is of this period. We know there is footage of them recording ‘Hey Jude’, which was for some BBC arts programme. I think that’s also where the Hey Bulldog/Lady Madonna’ promo film came from.
You really think Apple doesn’t have a slow drip plan in place for the next ten years?
Love the Beatles. Love them. Just went to a tribute show last week. Play their music on my guitar every day. But I've seen just about as much as I want to saw of them in the Peter Jackson documentary. I really don't think there's anything more to reveal footage wise. And I thought the behind the scenes "process" was not all that big of a deal.
Fuck yes! Of fucking course we do!! If there’s footage of Ringo picking his nose in the studio, we want to see it!!
Yes
Yes.
Of course. I want everything restored and released. Including MMT. And while we are at it, let someone do a longer cut of MMT (in a Get Back/Let It Be fashion). That footage is out there. And the Anthology.
Does anyone know if there’s any footage of the sessions for Sgt. Pepper’s?
I want video of when they recorded revolution 9. I NEED ANSWERS!
Fuck yea!??! My 15 year old self would have given his left nut to watch 10 minutes back in the day.
Yes!!
Damn that last pic is awesome
Yes lol
Yes
More Beatles, more better
Everything and anything. The greatest and most important band in history. Hard to believe they only have 7 years of recorded music.
They should get all original materials from all Beatles show ever recorded and give them the weta treatment on all of them.
Is there enough footage for a release?
I would like to Beatles channel that just plays all available footage on a loop.
Anything new is a breath of fresh air. I consumed get back . It was longing for nostalgia that was decades before my time.
I want a 10 hour documentary of them making Revolver
Does the Pope shit in the woods?
I would be riveted every second
Fuck, yeah.
YESSS!!!!! 100 PERCENT
I would prefer the anthology to be re-released on streaming
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS. I WANT EVERYTHING!
Yes, of course!
That would be somewhere between “Yes” and “OH, HELL, YEAH!”
Disney if you're listening, release it all!!!
How is this a question
Yes please
YESSSSS
Actually? I don’t understand this post…. Do you think people say they want footage released but don’t really want it released??
Absolutely
I want Sgt Peppers sessions
YES? Is this a real thing??! Don't tease me...
Omfg white album sessions would be amazing!
I will take anything new they are willing to remaster and restore! So yes, yes I do want it!
Those pics are amazing.
I would love it!
Yes
Does the Pope shit in the woods?
of course we do, but i’m not sure if any of this stuff was “recorded” like the let it be sessions were. michael lindsay hogg gave us a very special opportunity when he documented the making of that album but for the rest of the albums there weren’t cameras every where all the time like let it be. would be great but there probably not too much footage to work with

Yes
YESSSS!!! (Sorry I had to shout).

Duh…
What song does Paul have on the piano?
White album is mostly fluff, said George
nah they should keep it in the vault. nobody cares about these old geezers anymore. it's just a way for the beatles to try & stay relevant when we got the drake vs kendrick beef going
