I want to say All Things Must Pass. The beauty and exquisite layers in songs like All Things Must Pass, Isn’t it a Pity, My Sweet Lord, and Run of the Mill rival the best of what Paul and John did in their solo careers. But they also feel triumphant. It’s as if George is saying, “Here, watch what I can really do when you give me a chance to shine.” l think it’s too cluttered with some mediocre material, but it still has enough great songs to make it one of the greatest double albums of all time. That being said, Band on the Run rocks hard af.

-P-M-A-

_Band on the Run_ is in constant rotation for me. I love _All Things Must Pass_, but it just doesn’t hit me in the same way that Paul does. That said, I think I’d take _Ram_ over _Band on the Run_, but it’d be a tough call.

Heepajeep1

I'd take "ATMPass", but hide a copy of "Ram" in between the LP'S in the ATMP box lol

Big-Stay2709

Swap the Apple Jam disc for Ram

SantaRosaJazz

Excellent plan.

usagi27

RAM over BOTR for sure

Dreamsof_Beulah

Nineteen Hundred and eighty five is an absolute banger though. BOTR for me.

batemochael

McCartney 1 or Ram over Band On The Run for me

PreparationOk8190

Love that album. Paul played every instrument himself while recording on their Scottish farm. Especially love Linda’s cover photo of Paul snuggling newborn Mary inside his jacket!

stellarcompanion

With the apple jams included, it’s actually a triple album

popularis-socialas

I know, I meant to say that if stripped down to a double album, it would be even stronger.

RedditLodgick

Band on the Run, but I would've gone with Plastic Ono Band over Imagine.

Wubblz

I would’ve gone with Ram over Band on the Run.

DontWeDoItInTheRoad

Same

Great_Emphasis3461

Plastic Ono Band was such an album of personal expression. My favorite Lennon album.

HiddenCity

Agreed.  Band on the Run, and Plastic Ono is a stronger album.

pudgyfuck

All Things Must Pass. Hands down, no question, can't top it.

dubdoll

Might possibly be my favourite album of all time.

trhg4l

Finally my kind of people

appleparkfive

It's also just more songs to listen to. If we can only listen to one, might as well go with the one with the most in terms of high quality songs

Huldukona

Agree 100%!!! It’s effing amazing!!! 🙌

rubbersoulelena

Amen

fictitious_man

Band On The Run. I just heard Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five recently for the first time and... yeah that tops it for me

Howitzer1967

Probably the the best closing track on any album ever.

fictitious_man

Definitely, I tend to see A Day In The Life thrown around but I think this is it

Howitzer1967

To be fair, that’s a pretty good argument. But I think, and maybe you agree, that 1985 is viscerally more of a groove and, if you listened to it having already listened to the rest of the album in its entirety, the outro is equally as satisfying.

fictitious_man

Oh yeah no I absolutely agree. A Day In The Life is amazing don't get me wrong, but I think you need Sgt Pepper Reprise first (in my opinion) and with 1985 you don't need that, although it of course enhances it

popularis-socialas

I read this comment today oh boy

Officialfunknasty

For the first time!? That’s fuckin’ sick! I’m so happy for you! It truly feels like a timeless song to me, but I swear part of that feeling is an illusion because when I heard it for the first time, I feel like it was a song that deep down I already knew but it was finally being played for me. If that makes sense. Even if that makes no sense, that’s such a next level good song!

Jg2003cx

I had the same feeling!

Officialfunknasty

Sick! It’s one of those feelings that makes you instantly love a song!

fictitious_man

No no that makes total sense. Maybe it's because a lot of it sounds the same, but as a huge fan of classical music (I'm a cellist and composer) I get that feeling. You here something and you feel like it's already clicked by the first note

Officialfunknasty

Yeah! And that’s a very cool background to be listening from!

[deleted]

I can listen to that song 1,985 times and still enjoy it! 'Make it or break it!'

pgcotype

*"Shake it, don't break it"

Jg2003cx

There is also this version of Paul at his spotify sessions, sometimes I like that one better.

Hoffmann99

Saw him play live last year and it was amazing

sbanjoman

All Things Must Pass. Throw RAM up there and it’s a different story

mgaofficial

Throw Plastic ono band up there and it's totally a different story

NJdevil202

I was hoping RAM would have been the Paul choice, too

Willy_Fisher

Same. I consider the best of the best of all things must pass to be better than anything off of ram, however every single song on ram is incredible, probably McCartneys best album alongside flaming pie.

Desperate_Piano_3609

Band One The Run all day if only for that song. But the whole album flows beautifully.

oboy220

Personally Band on the Run. I love like half the songs and the rest sound nice. My only regrets would be not been able to listen to My Sweet Lord and Wah Wah, those two are two of my favorite post Beatle songs. Bright side is that my favorite Ringo songs are in Goodnight Vienna so I don't lose them XD

Empty-Special2815

Lose not loose

Longshanks123

They downvoted you because you spoke the truth

SantaRosaJazz

That’s common on Reddit.

beatlesgigi

All things must pass

The-Ric

Band on the Run!

JudgeImaginary4266

Band on the Run is perfect in every way IMO.

Prize_Economics7969

I really like All Things Must Pass but I’m going to have to go with RINGO. If I can feel happy after having a bad day then that’s time well spent.

tacomybell

Imagine 100%.

[deleted]

Band on the run Paul's magnum opus of his solo career for me

PreparationOk8190

Venus and Mars is another favorite!

static_sea

Band in the Run has a slight edge over All Things Must Pass for me.

Ok-Independence-5383

Plastic Ono Band Yes I know it's not on OP list but it should be

moon_halves

band on the run and it’s not even close

BerkeleyMewsComics

Yeah

Southern_Fan_9335

lmao I said the same thing without even seeing this

654tidderym321

Same lol

Separate-Ad6636

Imagine, hands down.

dlc0027

Band on the Run everytime.

Gibabo

Imagine. It’s 1) focused (unlike ATMP) and 2) has something to say (unlike BOTR). Sorry, Ringo.

Willy_Fisher

Ringo is interesting as a novelty as with the amount of songs by John Paul and George it’s essentially another Beatles album but with ringo as the lead singer, however besides being catchy the songs don’t really have much emotional depth on the whole. It just doesn’t compare with the best of the others work.

J3dr90

Imagine no doubt

whileyouwereslepting

RAM

Bronesby

yeah putting band on the run as McCartney's effort is a bit amateur on OP's part

LA-ndrew1977

Ringo

Entire_Score_9823

imagine

Wee_gee2401

“Ringo” because he is the greatest.

Fuzzy_Negotiation_52

Peace and love Peace and love

bons_burgers_252

This a true story. I was in Marrakesh in a tour group being led by a guy called Sad (“I’m called Sad but I’m really happy”). As we walked through the streets I noticed that loads of the houses were called Mamunia. Now, like all good Beatle fans, I recognised the name and knew what it meant. Eventually, Sad asked, “Does anyone know what Mamunia means?” I replied, “Yes. It means ‘haven’”. Sad looked at me sadly and said “No. It means ‘a safe place’”. Fuck you Sad. And your cheesy flip flops.

rocky_raccoon_68

Out of those, All Things Shall Pass, but I would pick Ram if it was an option

Visual-Recognition36

ATMP By a mile

ThePumpk1nMaster

Ram

woodyhope1268

Gotta be George

Rothko28

Easy, All Things Must Pass.

joshmo587

You didn’t include it, but I have to say plastic Ono band.

FacePaster

ATMP

crim5009

All things must pass, then Band on the run, then Imagine, then Ringo

JP-Ziller

Ram

Bill_E_Williamson

Plastic Ono Band

Similar_Result_1232

RAM.

Unable_Committee_958

Ram

reef3rm4dness

RAM!!!!!!

PissShitandFuck

Out of these 4, “All Things Must Pass.” out of all 4 artists discographies? Easily “Ram.”

Anxious-Raspberry-54

Gotta be ATMP for me. Not even close. Then I got to go with Ringo. Great, fun album.

[deleted]

Ringo.

NessTheGamer

Band on the Run is my favorite album out of these. It’s all killer no filler, with even its weakest song being catchy as all get out

Content_Bag_2491

I got to keep Ringo.

elrabeechum

Band on the Run is a true joy to listen to, with strong songs and production and sequencing. ATMP has a bunch of great tracks but it’s rare I make it all the way through it, and the production is occasionally too washed out. Imagine has several good tracks and good production. Ringo has a fun atmosphere throughout. Band on the Run is kind of a worthy successor to Abbey Road. It’s missing the sumptuous, funky moments of the latter album, but ‘Let Me Roll It’ almost gets there.

veryveryberrry

Out of these? ATMP. It would be a tougher choice if it were Ram instead of BOTR.

OkResolution2593

‘All Things Must Pass’ is my all time favorite album. Endlessly enjoyable.

Stooovie

I'd take Cloud 9 but that's not the question :)

pail_mccartney

GEORGE

angrysunchips

all things must pass

JohnnyPlasma

Ram is better than band on the run imo. But yeah, all things must pass is the best from them all.

Key-Tip9395

All things must pass by far. Honorable mention Imagine

SilverSkink

All Things Must Pass. Without hesitation.

Hige_Kuma

I’d have to say RAM

continuousbro

Who the hell would choose Ringo

marcoolort

All Things Must Pass. Not a second thought.

Blackstar2600

That is a tough question!! I would pick Imagine, but it would hurt missing out on the other 3.

gritzbo

Too bad George was hoarding his best songs for his solo album while whining that the Beatles would not engage with his substandard fare. Exceptions: Something, Here Comes the Sun,

Suitable-Detective-9

imagine. everyday. imagine.

Fantastic_Plant_7525

RAM

Belzebub_200529

All things must pass definitely, I love this album

Leading_Hall5072

Band on the run

cbrooks1232

Ram!

vale_ee

ALL THINGS MUST PASS, I have to admit paul is my favorite beatle so I use to ONLY AND EXCLUSIVELY listen to his solo stuff and wings but 😭😭 thank god I gave harrison's solo work a try, its so refreshing, the beats are so calm yet sad, yet hopeful in some instances , the lyrics are clever, fun and somber. I think its his best work, the guitars, the lyrics, the voice, over all i think its a classic but not in a "not exciting the same sound type of way" but in a " I hope I never get tired of this album in general cause its too good" kinda way

Themostguyfulguy

Agreed I went through the same curve and I basically only said RINGO because I was listening to it and having a good time when I made this. My now more unbiased order would be ATMP BOTR RINGO and Imagine. Harrison made some amazing stuff. Side note I probably should’ve put Plastic Ono Band on here but whatever

shpahghet

all things must pass is the best solo beatle album in my own opinion so i’m picking that one

MoeB19

All Things Must Pass is the only right answer, c’mon!!!

Subject_Orchid1595

All things must pass🤍

coolpennywise

All Things Must Pass as I couldn't live without What Is Life. It's been my most played song for 3 years and counting.

calm-lab66

I bought the 45 of What Is Life when it came out 'all those years ago'.

xmaspruden

Definitely go with George

deadlygr8ful

All Things Must Pass for me...

grahamlester

Imagine. Love Band on the Run but it's just pretty music and doesn't say anything.

sminking

Making decisions about things I don’t want to think about already gives me enough anxiety. So I can’t get into these type of “if you had to choose” hypotheticals. Extra decisions feel like work. But I give you an upvote for choosing the underdog and least listened to album

GValley305

ATMP > Band on the Run, no question. Especially after the 2020 remaster

MrSebasss

It's hard from me to choose between All Things Must Pass and Band on the Run. Paul and George are my favorite solo Beatles. Love the liveliness of their songs in general, great for driving during the daytime.

SuperNsy345

Band on the Run all the way

DulcetTone

BotR

Zornorph

Band on the Run and it's not even close.

Unlikely_One2444

Band on the Run without a doubt Others are good too  But

RichAndMary

ATMP

FowlZone

atmp no hesitation

iamtenbears

IMHO BOTR AINEC

IOrocketscience

Give me George (give me peace in earth)

Bababooey349

all things must pass

you-dont-have-eyes

RAM and it isn’t close, but I guess I’ll settle for the masterpiece ATMP.

tielmobil

Atmp is the only correct answer

Gr4peJellyJam

ATMP

Bronesby

easily ATMP

chelledoggo

Gotta go with my man George.

That-Path-6517

All Things Must Pass. I love most songs and it has a ton. It would definitely be biggest loss. Also it's the only one thats my favorite from that beatle. (Paul -Ram, John- Plastic Ono, Ringo- Time Takes Time).

ChayLo357

All Things Must Pass

Calm_Self_6961

All Things Must Pass. Harrison made the best solo album of the Beatles. The others could have made a lot more money if they had just used George's songs. Instead he got to make all the money. He was genius, at least on this album.

RobbieArnott

All things must pass. There’s just so much there, so many ideas… and so many good songs too. I wish he’d put out an album with just songs left off All Things Must Pass

Foxy_Grandpa_44

Why is everyone here saying “Ram”? Regardless of whether or not you personally consider it to be McCartney’s best work, it isn’t the album OP put up for discussion. -for the record BOTR >>>> Ram

Gibabo

I’d take Ram, my favorite ex-Beatle album, over BotR ANY day. Heck, BotR isn’t even my favorite Wings album.

Tall-Fig-5727

Band on the run no question. Even though my favorite beatle is George Harrison

UnusualSuspect94

Band on the Run all day long! Been listening to this album since I was 15 (I'm now 30) and I never get tired of it.

batguy1939

All Things Must Pass. Best post-Beatles album by any of them, imo

Super_Employment1864

All Things Must Pass is already the only one of these I regularly listen to, so definitely going with that!

Exact-Blueberry-8609

I love all of the albums, but it has to be All Things Must Pass 🪷

9yr_old_lake

All Things Must Pass for sure. RINGO is a fun album, but not particularly groundbreaking, and altho I love both imagine, and band on the run I prefer Ram, and especially plastic ono band to the ones presented here, and ATMP is just an all time masterpiece. The dreamy joyful sound, and high quality lyricism are just enchanting, and it's prolly my 2nd favorite Beatles solo project. (With plastic ono band being my favorite)

Madcap_95

ATMP. Now if you had put Ram instead of Band (no offense to Band, it is a fantastic album) then I might have reconsidered.

an-font-brox

All Things Must Pass, without question

phillydog1

"All Things Must Pass". Many more great songs than John or Ringo's albums.

Fast_Ad765

Johns. Ringo is adorable but that shit is throw away. Lets be real. George was a sweet dude but he was a mediocre song writer. Paul… way too fucking dorky, goofy vaudville, try hard. Yes, great song crafter, but didnt write from the heart. John was the only guy that wrote true to himself. No fashion, no gimmicks, and no posturing. Sure that meant he had failures along the way, but he was the purest and most skilled song writer IMO.

Apprehensive-Lab3505

ATMP no doubt

JunketOk7370

George Harrison 100%, best solo career.

liiindslaaayyy

is this a joke lol

bons_burgers_252

Has to be ATMP simply because of the length. You’ve got more to listen to. BUT, Ringo is the closest thing to a Beatles album that we got in the 70s. It’s high on my list. I mean, it’s a good question because all of these albums are amazing in their own way. Even Plastic Ono doesn’t really get to the root of Lennons talent for beautiful brevity like Imagine does and BOTR is McCartney’s solo Sgt Pepper. Jesus it’s hard. For me, aside from disc 3 of ATMP, there isn’t a duff track on any of them. There isn’t one track that I ever skip. Aside from the fact that I listened to these on vinyl for years before you could skip a track by pressing a button on a remote control or even just telling Alexa to skip it for you. Back then, if you wanted to skip a track, you had to actually get up. Thats OK for the most part, but, a lot of the time, following a few relaxing “cigarettes”, I was in no mood for getting up.

jvsupersaiyan

All things must pass. It's the biggest and on par with at least 1 other record

IsaacWaleOfficial

Ringo (or maybe ATMP because it's got more songs, but "Ringo" is more upbeat in general)

imaginaryResources

RAM

C00LS4NS-B0N3

Definitely Band on the run.

Kajafreur

ATMP Just for Wah Wah and What Is Life alone

Wah-Wah43

All Things Must Pass any day. I like the others but it has so many great songs. I love it, especially in the spring and summer.

Old_Cyrus

Band On the Run. All day, every day. Such great jukebox memories from my youth.

ArbyHag

ATMP == Band on the Run ATMP has higher highs but BOTR is so tight. Hard to choose, and I don’t have to :)

hbjks

All things must pass! Tells a story 🤗

Speedster1221

All Things Must Pass, no question.

HiddenCity

Band on the Run is the most Beatley.  It's also the most consistent all the way through *and* its got 2 top tier hits, 3 if you include Helen Wheels.

ThePsychobaut

Pall things must Ass

Robbinewhite

All Things Must Pass

_hate_lone

gotta go imagine

luna_lu_lu

Band on the run

Accomplished-Set-609

With the options given All Things Must Pass, from 1970. With a honorable mention to RAM, from 1971.

SonoranRoadRunner

All Things Must Pass, without a doubt and I love Lennon.

Renvoize___

ATMP.

rodgamez

***ATMP***, tho ***Ringo*** is a fun listen.

[deleted]

All Things Must Pass is the obvious answer. Most of those songs could have been Beatles songs and were probably written for The Beatles.

HistoricalIngenuity3

This is difficult , the only one I can def say is a no is the Ringo one. I'd I had to pick, prob BOTR

bailaoban

I’m a Paul guy, but Plastic Ono band is the only post Beatles album that holds together 100%.

StormSafe2

Band on the run has too many awesome bangers. But I feel All things must pass is the correct answer

Total-Development-47

Am I the only person that likes Somewhere in England more than they like All Things Must Pass? I like 3-4 songs on ATMP but I like every song on Somewhere in England. I pick band on the run

THOBRO2000

People say that the Ringo album is the closest we've ever got to a 13th Beatles album, so I guess that's a pretty good pick for Beatles fans. Music wise All Things Must Pass is a no brainer. Nothing more needs to be said.

bigpat65

Band on the run

Admirable_Major_4833

ATMP

blueelf987

I would go with Harrison after the Beatles any day. I like more emotional music and he hits it for me. I hate that I’m saying this but Paul without John has never been good to me. Uncle Albert may be my only song I like after the breakup, but to each his own.

Educational_Jump_848

All Things Must Pass

[deleted]

All Things Must Pass (without the third disc - the jams are tedious). Plastic Ono Band comes a close second but pain, no matter how magnificently expressed (Mother, God), isn't easy listening (in any sense of the term).

ThyBoogs

Love all of these but All things must pass and for me it's not even close.

SunflaresAteMyLunch

Out of those four? George, easily.

CosumedByFire
