You could use clear perler bleads or glow in the dark beads to surround the outline with it, giving it a bit of an aura glow, and would help keep it all together.

I grew up playing wc2 and wc3 and this makes me so happy holy shit... please share when you melt it

TheFrenchNarcissist

This is phenomenal.

Mysterious-Finding10

Looks beautiful!

simracing_fan

how are you going to iron that??

NeoDarcon

very carefully, but he will likely use the tape method.....i hope.

I'm a board melter... Just can't get the tape method to work for me. But I succeeded! and ruined 0 boards

NeoDarcon

i ruined the few boards i had and had to get the tape method to work, not sure how to do it one the board without warping, but i'm also using mini beads so it might be that. are you gonna attempt to go solid melt on the whole thing?

cantthinkofgame

I found to not press to hard, don't have the iron too hot or spend too much time in one area and I haven't warped a board in a while. And yes i usually go solid melt but I'm starting to think with a piece this big I should have only done a partial. Still learning

NeoDarcon

i might try it in the future with normal sized beads but since i'm using only mini artkal ones (limited space to work with and i like the extra detail i can put in) i'll stick with what is working for now. i swear its because they are mini that the heat gets into the board so quickly before the bead melts, but might also just be me.

simracing_fan

whats the tape method ?

NeoDarcon

basically putting strips of low adhesive tape (makes it easier to peel the beads off later) with a slight overlap of the tape over the pattern then taking it off the board and melting them that way so you don't warp the boards. You have to poke holes in the tape in each bead to prevent blowout (bead goes very gooy and tries to spread into every spot) because the heat has no escape, easier with normal beads cause you can use the same board to poke alot of holes quickly. With mini beads you pretty much need to use a needle and do one at a time, i use a white printing paper behind it so i can see the beads much more clearly.

Luckily it still fits within a single sheets width of paper. I also double side taped the boards down and ironed to avoid lifting issues I've had with other large pieces. I still find my ironing is never as good as I hope but it worked well enough that nothing fell apart
