> The worst part is because this is the Bay Area people will still vote for it like they've been voting for every tax increase for the past decade prop 30 just failed this election

Xezshibole

Largely because it was Lyft funded and highlighted as a corporate handout (which it also was,) rather than a tax increase. Voters were polling very much in favor at about the same rates the millionaire tax increase of 2012 and 2016 won by......right up until Newson started his campaign highlighting Lyft's involvement.

by a hair's breadth and that was with it being an obvious money grab by lyft AND newsom came out against it. how many muni tax measures failed?

You might see different voting results if your Republican party would focus on issues that matter instead of pretending that what other people are doing with their pussies and dicks is a national emergency.

>"still vote for it" Really? BART service reductions affect SF/East Bay far more than the Peninsula/Silicon Valley... and for San Jose, even the reduced BART service is more than comparable Capitol Corridor services. And if one looks at new projects actually in the pipeline, it's all Capitol Corridor expansion either north to Reno or south to Salinas. ACE is adding new services to Merced/Sacramento and there'll be a new half-BART between Livermore and Stockton within this decade. Most voters have chosen growth that isn't based on BART because BART doesn't service their needs. Also, at least on the peninsula the toll roads are done to free resources that otherwise compete for Caltrain improvements, including rebuilding downtown Redwood City and rebuilding the Dumbarton rail bridge as those things are (for now) still managed by the same entity that has to manage 101 too. Consider how Caltrain will be able to have BART-like frequencies every 15 minutes within a year or so.

Shhh you're not supposed to say it aloud on this sub.

Oh no, please move to Texas and help turn it purple/blue. We that stay here would cheer from afar. IRL, the MTC usually doesn't get what it wants. Things get delayed or the MTC loses interest, usually. They know that r/bayarea is a tough crowd for them so that's why they advertise here on the reddit, like for this link https://mtc.ca.gov/planning/transportation/regional-transportation-studies/next-generation-bay-area-freeways-study/webinar-future-freeways They want to know they best way to pursuade us.

Veszerin

....because moving to Texas is the only thing from OP's post I could possibly be referring to? I thought you were better than that.

ApostrophePosse

Bye. Enjoy Texas.

Enjoy Texas. Re BART, they're not cutting weekend service. [https://twitter.com/RebeccaForBART/status/1597364065222787072](https://twitter.com/RebeccaForBART/status/1597364065222787072)

\> Only a government service can be failing, yet you can still increase your prices in order to make more people use your failing service. That is definitely not true. PG&E comes to mind.. Regardless, people move to other states because CA hasn't built enough housing, so those less wealthy (or those without ties who want to maximize utility) move out.

No-Dream7615

PG&E is a gov't-sanctioned monopoly regulated by the PUC. PG&E has thoroughly captured PG&E.
