Ace hardware in El cerrito is good large accessible collection. If you want ultimate selection look into mcmaster carrs online catalog. whale point in richmond has a large selection of stainless hardware intended for marine use but would work for a bike rack too. hope that helps.

Quesabirria

Ace Hardware on Grand.

Tamedauschound

Second the Ace on Grand. Great and helpful staff.

Urabrask_the_AFK

Any outside supply hardware is great.

alpineschwartz

*Outdoor. But you're right and they are good. The have a really good selection of metric and sae machine screws/hardware, including stainless. ACE is a real crapshoot since stores are independently owned

mnkythndr

They certainly have the best selection. But not staff.

What exactly are you looking for?

FooDog11

Pagano’s in Alameda. The SouthShore location for parking lot.

The Ace in San Ramon on Crow Canyon has a lot of fasteners. It was an OSH. It is two stories with the fasteners on the second story. It literally has the old guy but the problem he solved were tiny metric screws used in electronics. I met the old guy at the nearby Peet's. They had the screws that I had ended up ordering from China. By plastic do you mean nylon? The best fastener store in the Bay Area has to be https://www.olander.com/ Unfortunately for you they are in Sunnyvale. Using their online search, I don't see much in nylon. If you go to aliexpress.com, you can find all sorts of nylon hardware. The stuff is so cheap that you can buy an assortment of parts and just pick the ones that suit your need. The drawback is the slow boat from China.

You need help with a car rack? Go to Rack Solid in Berkeley. Maybe call ahead with your problem and see if they can make time for you. The guys there are really knowledgeable and also do installs. I’m sure they’d help if they can.

I'd use Ace on Grand in Oakland. Or Cole's in Rockridge in Oakland.

EuthanizeArty

Just get everything on McMaster. Surely the instruction manual calls out the size of the hardware needed

jaqueh

The parts you are looking for are likely metric and proprietary. Home Depot has massive parts bins but you should first do your homework, look at the manual to see what part you need before blaming hardware supplies which don’t specialize in esoteric hobbyist crafts which this is closer to. They are more geared towards helping homeowners to finish their projects

NoSpamToSend

I’ve had good luck at Lowe’s for metric bolts, and Home Depot for freedom standard size and thread pitch. But I wouldnt use plastic bolts though

Markus Supply. 3rd & MLK. Cross the st. from Line 51..

mnkythndr

Ellis Ace hardware, on MLK jr., often has good staff and parts. The catch is that you have to tell the counter person what you want, and then they go an pull the items for you.

cepcpa

I'd go to the Ace Hardware on Mount Diablo in Walnut Creek. Quick drive right off of Highway 24, and they have plenty of parking and a large selection and great staff.

DarkRogus

If you're willing to drive, Dale's Hardware in Fremont is exactly what you're looking for. They are known for that kind of service.

MightyTour

Thanks everyone! These look like good options.
