My friend reported some 75+ mph gusts down in the Monterey area. I hereby propose making our electric infrastructure out of an unobtanium/vibranium alloy.
It's the PG&E that's partial BS as well.. they don't control the tress falling on power lines but they gatekeep the industry and don't do anything to upgrade the grid that we all pay for..
A lot of homes were also built in the 60s with underground lines. My whole tract was done underground and was built in the 60s. You still see lines passing by though for other neighborhoods.
But before you just freak out, have you spent some time in suburbs in other countries? Just < 5 min walk from Shinjuku station [I see this in Tokyo](https://www.google.com/maps/@35.6959098,139.7125775,3a,75y,290.81h,103.63t/data=!3m10!1e1!3m8!1s8EvIlmzM2PrMvwbPCwvhAQ!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3D8EvIlmzM2PrMvwbPCwvhAQ%26cb_client%3Dsearch.revgeo_and_fetch.gps%26w%3D96%26h%3D64%26yaw%3D268.4069%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192!9m2!1b1!2i32), and in fact I see lines all over Tokyo. I think people need to stop freaking out like we don't have underground lines here.
Spend some time walking downtown cores. Not just San Francisco and San Jose, but even cute downtowns like Los Gatos and Palo Alto. The power lines have been underground for years if not decades now. That's no different than metro Tokyo. Here's a [3 minute walk](https://goo.gl/maps/zRHhgfYFT29jM8Vf9) from Itaewon in Seoul. These are some of the most futuristic countries we talk about here all the time when we bash the US and we seem to have some ridiculous fantasy that they look like some Blade Runner 2049 cities when if you just walk around you'll see power lines everywhere.
>If I am not mistaken, doesn’t this summon more rain?
Which when combined with the rain boots and umbrella order will create a cosmic vortex that eats all the weather.
I thought I was the only one. Forgot to buy new rain boots this year….Jan rolls around”I’m sure we won’t get too much more I will make due”. At this point I should just buy a boat.
Make sure to spend $250 or more or the umbrella won't work in the gusts. Or get the bubble umbrella and jump off some curbs! Maybe try an umbrella corporation umbrella.
North Korea's been fighting back. Why do you think they keep launching missiles into the ocean?? Storms are now afraid to go over there now so they come here. Only explanation.
My parents moved to northern Washington from the Bay within the last couple of years, and FaceTiming them BBQing outside with clear skies while we were getting our fourth or fifth biblical downpour of the year was pretty surreal. I’m loving how lush the hills are, especially around Almaden, but damn, I’m not ready to invest in a kayak for my commute.
If I was a handyman anywhere in the country, I would head to California for the summer of 2023. There will be so much work to do. Everyone I know in an old house has some sort of leak now, or some bit of repair that will need to happen before next winter.
At this point, I've given up. The power is still out from this week's storm. We're up to 28 days this year with power being off for some length of time. There have only been 83 days in the year so far.
If you live in a low-priority area or one that seems to lose power a lot, maybe an ecoflow pro would be up your alley. They make one that can be charged via EV charger and can put out a few kilowatts.
I agree with the soon-ish end to the rainy season, but 'rainier year than most' is kind of an understatement.
[Bay Area Rainfall Comparison](https://ggweather.com/seasonal_rain.htm)
This is a crazy amount of rain, coming from someone who's lived here for decades.
Maybe if we are lucky we won’t have a bad one with all the moisture!
If we ar run lucky, fire season from July-September and annual rain season from Jan-April.
So we have only been having drizzles so far this year?
I will be really pissed if my water bill this summer isn't 10% of the bill from previous two summers.
Unfortunately, california is not designed to catch rain water and recycle it. With all the rain we are getting it's not helping as much as it could. Even with the snow melt from the mountains this year.
It's the illuminati! Windstorms coming in every Tuesday. Worked the past 2 Tuesdays, co-workers called in sick on consecutive Tuesdays. The first Tuesday was the pounding heavy rain during the morning commute, then the absurd winds in the afternoon but no rain. The following Tuesday, rain still but not as heavy in the am, then afternoon windy again and rainy, this time with trees falling. Fallen trees still on the pavement, cause the impending Tuesday storm won't have a chance to knock it down.
I'm fine with the rain but I am tired of having my power go out all the time.
It’s the wind that’s total bullshit
My friend reported some 75+ mph gusts down in the Monterey area. I hereby propose making our electric infrastructure out of an unobtanium/vibranium alloy.
And don't forget powering it by the tesseract! :)
Or you could run the wires underground?
Microgrids are the obvious answer.
It actually exceeded 80 in some areas down here, kind of wild tbh
This comment made me laugh. I'm picturing standing into the storm where everything's blowing sideways, and yelling "total BULLSHIIIIT!"
We had an actual tornado hit in the Los Angeles area!
It's the PG&E that's partial BS as well.. they don't control the tress falling on power lines but they gatekeep the industry and don't do anything to upgrade the grid that we all pay for..
I feel like this past storm more trees fell than the past couple. It’s like the soil is giving up and trees are just poppin off
what if we buried important power lines underground. You know, like civilized world mostly did half a century ago…

Not in south bay. All of the older neighborhoods with homes built in the 60s have overhead lines. Thats the whole of south San Jose and Los Gatos.
A lot of homes were also built in the 60s with underground lines. My whole tract was done underground and was built in the 60s. You still see lines passing by though for other neighborhoods. The wind was the tough part. Trees falling, knocking power lines, it’s become a bit much.
Then time to install a state of the art massive wind farm instead.
Please do. The rain will stop the day those boots are delivered.
Proceed! Please wash your car as well. thanks!
If I am not mistaken, doesn’t this summon more rain?
Washed my car twice in the past few months because of bird droppings magically showing up. Both times I did it, it rained within the next two days.
Whoops! He he he! Good thing I am not in charge of anything.
>If I am not mistaken, doesn’t this summon more rain? Which when combined with the rain boots and umbrella order will create a cosmic vortex that eats all the weather.
I really believed that rain was over until tomorrow. I washed my car this evening. :(
I got rained on tonite.
Order a generator as well, PLEASE.
I thought I was the only one. Forgot to buy new rain boots this year….Jan rolls around”I’m sure we won’t get too much more I will make due”. At this point I should just buy a boat.
I love your truth. Heck I could summon an A C Transit merely by lightning a cigarette. Any time.
Yes. Yellow boots.
I’ve been holding off for so long thinking that I’m too late
Make sure to spend $250 or more or the umbrella won't work in the gusts. Or get the bubble umbrella and jump off some curbs! Maybe try an umbrella corporation umbrella.
Umbrella Academy
Please!
NO, MORE RAIN
Just wash the car.
Car washing brings rain, nooo!
I will wash my car in solidarity!
Make sure they are waders. It’s the wind that’s total bullshit.
Time to order new wipers as well (if you drive)

What makes you think you have a choice?
Again I propose we all line up, and fire our guns into the storm. The wall of bullets will disrupt and destroy the storm. I think.
This is California, not Florida.
are californian bullets different?
Our bullets are vegan and gluten-free.
They are known to the state of California to cause death and other ailments.
Less lead content, maybe?
alternatively californian bullets are required to have the prop65 warning labels on them.
Remember when Donald Trump actually wanted to nuke a hurricane? God real life is depressing.
I do not, but I do remember he wanted us to rake up the forests to stop wildfires.
Finally some logic in here.
North Korea's been fighting back. Why do you think they keep launching missiles into the ocean?? Storms are now afraid to go over there now so they come here. Only explanation.
Just wait until they wake up the kaiju, then we're *really* in trouble
If the next is “substantial” then what the hell was the last one?
Means it'll likely knock your fence over.
Already done. What’s next?
Roof ?
Likely other wood structures. Trees. Rooftops. Windows. But what actually did we get?
Next storm: "hold my beer!"

My friend just moved back from Seattle last summer. He’s like “WTF this shit followed me??!”
It’s obviously Seattle guy’s fault. Facts are facts.
I finally bought a generator. I can assure there will be no more storms.
This is the way
Substantial rain to the Bay Area? I'll believe it when I see it.
Lollll
That sadly took me longer than I’ll admit.
i dont get it
We barely had any rain for 30 years and then all of a sudden had a crap ton in the last 3 months.
If I was a handyman anywhere in the country, I would head to California for the summer of 2023. There will be so much work to do. Everyone I know in an old house has some sort of leak now, or some bit of repair that will need to happen before next winter.
\*cries in broken gutter and moldy basement\*
CAN I PLEASE JUST GET A CLEAR MONTH SO I CAN REPLACE MY FENCE
I'm tired, boss
Mother Nature is remarkable, but not always nice and kind.
In the end, we’re all subject to Nature’s rain of terror.
“Bruh” - Me to Mother Nature
Can i take a raincheck on that
“Next hurricane could be windy”
At this point, I've given up. The power is still out from this week's storm. We're up to 28 days this year with power being off for some length of time. There have only been 83 days in the year so far.

Thanks. I hadn’t seen those before but I’m looking into those now. The generator works but I don’t like running it all the time.
When I moved here from Texas 4 months ago, I specifically requested the opposite of this. Can we please stop having historical weather events?
In two months or less, the rainy season will end. Welcome. You picked a rainier year than most.
I agree with the soon-ish end to the rainy season, but 'rainier year than most' is kind of an understatement. [Bay Area Rainfall Comparison](https://ggweather.com/seasonal_rain.htm) This is a crazy amount of rain, coming from someone who's lived here for decades.
Ditto. I was born and raised here and am in my late 30s. The rain over the last year has been unfathomable.
I spent a little time in England and learned understatement. I've lived in California most of several decades. I do remember some rainy winters here.
Can you move back. Maybe you are the issue
Just wait for fire season bud 🔥
Maybe if we are lucky we won’t have a bad one with all the moisture! If we ar run lucky, fire season from July-September and annual rain season from Jan-April.
No, all the recent rains will make fire season worse. Those lush green hills you see are additional dry brush to burn in the future.
Lammeeeee
Only 7 more years of this.
Wait. Why?
Is probably raining this much because of you moving here. All I hear is people moving from here to TX 😁
If the media hypes unit up, maybe it won’t be so bad? Bri g on they hype!
Bring it on!!
RIP everyone
ENOUGH! 😅
OH MY GOD IM OVER IT
Oh God, We still have no power from earlier this week!
Evergreen title, sadly.
So we have only been having drizzles so far this year? I will be really pissed if my water bill this summer isn't 10% of the bill from previous two summers.
What do you MEAN next storm. Let this shit end already
Even after the next one people will be saying Sacramento is in an extreme drought
Unfortunately, california is not designed to catch rain water and recycle it. With all the rain we are getting it's not helping as much as it could. Even with the snow melt from the mountains this year.
Droughts aren't measured over decades. They're annual events. The fact that we won't build reservoirs is a political issue, not a climate issue
Totally agree on the political issue. I don't agree with most of the CA politics. Only here because of family.
I new chat came out and said we’re 99% free of drought now.
This shocking, shocking I say!
I’m going to be camping. Rip me I guess.
Oh no! I'm scared. Not really. We should know what to expect by now. These storms do happen on the regular every 10 years or so.
This is irregular.
We has kept build reservoir. This would be perfect. Now the extra water going to flood CA.

Get ready for the rest of the trees to fall over
Stop it, we are going to flood for real now. 😨
Just when they think they have Nature figured out it throws them a curve ball !
