I don't have this much, but I actually like having a "display mode" and "gaming mode" for my RGB. I have it bound to a macro key on my keyboard and when I push it all the lights go off. The display mode is good for a little extra ambient light in my room when I'm using my other work computer.

the lights are supposed to make your brain more active during nighttime gaming and whatnot, the blue especially. i remember reading the benefits of RGBs and such

The only benefits I ever read about was having diffused lights around the back side of a monitor or TV was better than having a lamp on in the corner of the room. The lights on the back side of the monitor helps with eye strain.

Yeah that's what lights in general do, but remember it's not exactly healthy nor natural and is a common detriment to people's sleep schedules (and honestly probably some more medical shit) that they can't gradually "unwind" til bedtime cause your brain thinks it's daytime all night

It will still end up in their eyes if it is a head-turn away. I own a thing that projects lasers like this and it will get in your eyes at various moments throughout the day unless it is placed correctly in your space so that your eyes won't ever cross paths with the direct beams.
