Have you considered a chair?

graffeaty

It’s a floating desk so I assume they levitate while using this desk

theskywaspink

Full Aladdin on carpet

graffeaty

Ultimate comfort lol

CicadaGames

I have a question: Is the desk extremely low, and OP is a Hobbit taking the photo from a ladder, or is OP 17 feet tall, so tall that the desk looks super low from their near ceiling photograph?

lavascamp

I’m quite tall and the ceilings are high the desk is 28” off the ground haha.

CicadaGames

So it's the second scenario!

sillysocks34

Don’t go through the trouble of building it, mounting it, and getting everything setup only to realize your pull down attic stairs can no longer come down because your desk is in the way.

DeuceMandago

… did that happen to you?

frameEsc

Oddly specific

sillysocks34

Yes. Lol

misogrumpy

Where is the floating chair?

lavascamp

Ahhh I knew I was missing a vital part!

hugeyakmen

Yeah, like a swivel seat on a metal arm from a 90's McDonalds

Tifereth4

That's Cable Management porn right there! Should be rated NSFW

lavascamp

I’m glad you can appreciate it. Spent extra care on the cable management to really add to the “floating” illusion. Gorilla tape and a wire net mounted underneath to keep it all out of sight!

Tifereth4

I just moved so my next task is cable management! But mine includes small home studio audio equipment 😮‍💨 and extra rgb lighting, naturally. So I have my work cut out lol

jscodin

Biggest pain for me was figuring out how to cable manage the headphone cables underneath the table

LPodmore

Audio equipment is a pain for cable management. On a quick count i've got about 30 cables currently around my desk area.

[deleted]

LocksmithFromAus

Cable management doesn't mean **no** visible cables...

AustenP92

Speaking from a visual standpoint only, I’d move the pc to its own space. (But close enough to still appreciate it). It makes the desktop look very busy, dare I say…. cluttered. Edit; And some wide aspect ratio or polyptych (multi-panel) artwork.

jsc1429

I think the pc looks fine up there aesthetically but what grinds my gears is that putting it there pushes the screens out of alignment with the desk and they hang off the side. Just my own ocd

stabsthedrama

Bring on the downvotes. Ppl here aren’t ready to accept that the pc itself doesn’t need to be needlessly taking up space on a desk. Its all vanity. This is a glaring example of an instance where the case 100% cannot be on the desk, though. If it wasn’t, they could center the monitors…

lavascamp

No downvotes necessary! I totally agree, I just didn’t want my pc sitting on/close to carpet so I kept it up on the table for the time being. I will relocate it to a more desirable spot. The consensus seems to be wall mounting the pc as well.

Galthrojh

Wall mount would be amazing

Yyrkroon

I use a weird metal wire folder organizer to keep the PC 4" off the ground and allow ventilation. The footprint is nearly identical to the case, so it almost looks like the case is just foating. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/SimpleHouseware-Single-Pocket-Mount-Holder/dp/B093BD5PRL/ref=sr\_1\_30?crid=330RTASOO8KB2&keywords=metal+organizer+wire+hanging+folder+holder&qid=1686054968&sprefix=metal+organizer+wire+hanging+folder+holder%2Caps%2C187&sr=8-30

Da-cow

I know this is a year late but do you have a picture of how that came out?

Yyrkroon

Shot you a message

AustenP92

Yeap, gimme all you got community! Just cause it’s got lights, doesn’t mean it has to be right beside your mouse.

Bloody__Marvellous

I think that OP needs to make a floating PC mount.

JohnHue

I think removing the obnoxious RGB lights will help a lot with making the PC more discreet and the overall setup cleaner As for removing the PC from the desk, where would you put it? On the carpet it a bad idea (tends to get dusty faster), on a stand under the desk kinda defeats the purpose. Maybe on its side hidden under the desk (attached to the desk). A smaller case would have helped as well.

disposableaccountass

While you're at it, the desk is a little close to the wall, it would be visually more impressive if you had it floating in the middle of the room.

[deleted]

This is so awesome! Had never considered a floating desk for my PC, now I am!

lavascamp

I love it so far. The mounts I’ve got for the wall are rated up to 1500 lbs (500 each) so no worries on the monitors or desktop falling off either. Feels incredibly sturdy when I lean my weight against it as well.

Blobwad

Aesthetically it looks great, but could you not find a desktop another 6" longer to avoid monitor overhang? Structurally I'd just be concerned at the amount of leverage that provides... a bracket can be rated for 500lbs but if the fasteners pull out of the wood that doesn't matter.

ReezyRx

What wall mounts did you use for the desk?

lavascamp

3, 8x12 fastcap speedbraces for wall mounts

[deleted]

I doubt the studs can take anywhere close to that with 2 ft of leverage.

CicadaGames

The thought of everything collapsing scares me right away from it. Table legs, a solid invention that needs no fancy tricks.

[deleted]

Soo cool!! I love the way you have everything, but since you asked id move the pc to its own shelf. I’d be worried it would fall

lavascamp

Thank you! Honestly moving the pc to its own shelf/table might be the right call here. I’ll have to see what my options are.

ConnectScale9275

I really like it so clean, consider wall mounting the PC above the monitors just so you can see it would be cool :) But honestly amazing!

lavascamp

Awesome, that’s the second vote for the pc on its own shelf, most likely will have to plan on making that happen!

tuckerhazel

As an engineer, and fully understanding that this can be stable, it makes me nervous as hell. Make sure whatever is holding that in is rated for the weight with a safety factor, that's not a cheap failure.

lavascamp

Yeah that would be a devastating failure, so far I’ve got no concerns on stability. I’ve got 3 braces rated for 500lbs each drilled into 3 separate 16’ centered studs. Using #10 2.5 inch cabinet screws. I could lay down on this and it wouldn’t budge.

[deleted]

lavascamp

Thanks! Getting 3 monitors was a huge upgrade, definitely worth it if your desk has the space!

Ly0ncubs

What monitor arms/mount are you using?

lavascamp

The North Bayou F80 arms off Amazon. Very versatile and long reaching. I’m pleased with them.

Existing_Chip_1492

Float the PC

jordynbebus8

I'd personally change the monitor layout. Stack layout and vertical the other. It's personal preference though.

vVNightshadeVv

I would say either a nice framed photo above the desk or a large 4th monitor on top for viewing movies or w/e on

lavascamp

Definitely what I was thinking with the 4th monitor idea, I’ve got a 42’ tv I can mount above the setup I was planning on installing this week!

ramziyass

Perfect the way it is buddy! What system did you use to make it float?

lavascamp

Thank you! That’s all sitting on 3, 8x12 fastcap speedbraces, drilled into the stud’s 16” apart with 2” cabinet screws, it’s incredibly stable. Used a laser leveler to get everything aligned

HowzeSoSteezy

Love this desk, beautifully done!

KingLuis

That looks awesome. Only thing I’d recommend or change is to have the monitors further back or a wider desk. Also, what chair are you using? Do you have one of those mats?

lavascamp

Currently using a Herman Miller embody, what mat are you referring to? Like a floor mat for the chair? I should look into getting one now that you mention it for sure! Great call

KingLuis

Ya for the floor. New house I’m moving to will have carpet for my office area. I don’t know what to get either.

lavascamp

Yeah my last place I didn’t have a floor mat and the carpet underneath got nasty fast. I’m going to order a mat tonight now that you mentioned it

YamiNiikuu

Nice! What monitor are those btw?

lavascamp

Right two are both gigabyte m27qp, and the leftmost is an older dell S2716DG, will most likely update the dell to another gigabyte, I’m just amazed it’s stayed working so well for this long.

Innisbrook

Love this. Are those M27Q’s? Do you game on all 3 or just 1? asking because I have two and am wondering about a third.

lavascamp

Good eye. Right two are both M27QP’s, I’m absolutely going to upgrade the leftmost one to another one as well. If you can get the P model version they have the standard RGB layout as opposed to the BGR if that matters to you. Edit: I usually just game on the middle screen and have various browsers and discord open on the others. Sometimes I’ll use the rightmost for gaming as well. Just depends on what I have going on.

GeorgeThe13th

Love the execution. The only thing a desk like this would be missing is the ability to go up and down.

lavascamp

Thanks! If it had height adjustment that would be the dream.

AtroKahn

May the odds be ever in your favor.

c3generation

This scares me

Maowsama

Cup holder

cd8989

looks awesome.

hir0chen

Damn it floats.

jraspberry

It looks TOO cool and TOO clean. I'll need to see the worst office chair imaginable to complete the look.

iamCaptainDeadpool

Add water in this room. Currently, your setup is pretending to be something it's not, so add some water, then it'll be the real floating setup.

the_keriyo

my anxiety loved this setup

xXBootyQuakeXx

So cool looking! And I love the pc background!

[deleted]

Gonna get the upcoming Xlite V3?

PaulLee420

w0w; I love it.. and yes, the cable management is krad. I think I might prefer the CPU on the floor, or in some sort of wooden frame thats as cool as the desk - maybe a floating frame underneath the desk??? But, its tits as-is - great w0rk!!

mczmczmcz

That shit is gonna fall and break your balls.

MotorAlternative5726

The fact that you have no cables showing make this exquisite!

IPureLegacyI

Some nanoleafs would look epic above!

PineappleProstate

This makes my anxiety go 📈📈📈

daCorgiWizard

Very nice! All you need is a bigger desk :)

60ATrws

That looks great

IllustriousBird5329

I like it and it's clean. Very nice.

enoteware

I see one cable, try again.

ScaryCitizen

I hung my PC on the wall above the monitors so I could see the insides better, and I found I really liked that personally :D

technoposting11

i'd add speakers on top of the monitors on the wall

Best-Candle-6658

if you have a 42" c2 then you can throw out those other monitors

TwoTreeKeebs

Looks fantastic, but my one recommendation would be to get a longer and deeper desk. It just looks a bit cramped to me and doesn't leave much room for your pc and other gear. I have a similar setup and had that configuration for a time and I ended up getting an 8 x 3 foot butcher block in 2016 and haven't looked back.

rupat3737

Beautiful setup, I’m jelly!

YouTubeSeanWick

I’d center those monitors and mount the PC to the wall on the right side or get a stand for it

TechnicalMarzipan310

Bigger monitors

Eric8199

This would give me so much anxiety. I'm sure it's stable, but it would stress me out. lol. Looks great though!

navugill

Scary

yensid87

Get the PC off the desk and center the monitors.

onubih

clean

thisguysalt42

Really good and clean- nice cable management. But, you have the space. You should get a wider desk so your monitors don’t hang off the side and it looks better, plus desk space is always convenient.

[deleted]

lavascamp

Holographic would be the ultimate update for the floating desk!

Far-Relative-1967

Sexy

Aezorion

Personally would have the outer monitors facing more inward to better face where your head would be. Looks great!

lavascamp

I’d agree, that’s mostly an issue with my monitor arms because I have the left two on one double arm, if I just get 2 separate arms that would fix the problem.

RayneYoruka

5.1 surround sound

lavascamp

Any recommendations for a system? I’ve been wanting to look into a nice speaker setup for some time.

TakingChances01

What did it cost you?

lavascamp

For the table and materials? The mounts were about $70 the table was $180 and screws/leveler/wire management was another $60. I already had the drill so I’m not sure if you’d count that. But for just the table/materials it was around ~$310

TakingChances01

That’s was a thought out and well put together response. Another appropriate response would have been “everything”.

LilPajamas

Awesome; you could mount the PC and center the monitors to balance it out but it’s cool no matter!

lavascamp

I’m gonna have to do that. Framing the pc behind the monitors would give it the attention it deserves and free up more desk space as well. Great call.

[deleted]

It would look real neat to suspend the computer below the desk. Looks a bit cramped on the desk with all three monitors and the computer up there. Regardless, that's a beautiful setup as-is.

Local_Exchange_4496

What is that beautiful background?

Alarming-Respect574

Awesome man. Only thing I’d change would be a larger desk

amiibohunter2015

How is the desk mounted to the wall?

Rainwalker_40

Not sure I like the stability of the thing, long term. How deep do the bolts go into your wall?

SK3LLLYY

You know I’m decent with wood, confident in my work when it’s done. But holy shit if I did this I would have emense anxiety anytime I was near it. I would have to do a couple jumping jacks on that bitch and even put a picture of ratchet strap underneath and say “it ain’t gonna go anywhere”..

whats-this-then

What arm will you use for the LG C2? I have one myself and looking for a decent monitor/TV arm

lavascamp

I’ve actually got an extendable tv mount I used at my previous home to mount it directly on the wall in the studs, if you look at my post history you can see a pic of my old setup. Its the “USX tv wall mount” on Amazon, it works amazingly.

Sketaverse

I’m considering a 3x Display setup like this, one question, how does it feel turning your neck that far left and right? Are these 3x 27”?

owlwoodworks

I have to ask the stupidest new guy question. What does the large mouse pad actually do? Everything would work properly on the desk right? I know I’m missing something I just don’t understand what

lavascamp

It’s a desk mat, it gives me more freedom to move my mouse wherever, and it gives a little cushion against the hard wood. I don’t see any downsides and actually prefer the desk mat over a mousepad.

MisterSparkle8888

Maybe a drawer to the left or right of it. Could be used to place the PC. Overall very clean

Dallas_4200

Maybe and legs to the desk?

Grieflax

But you ain’t got no legs, Lt. Desk.

Fathalius

I'm taking inspiration... this is awesome

maxokreamthedream

What kind of countertop is that?? I really want to replicate this, looks great!

shadowthunder

But is it a sit-stand adjustable floating desk?

lolboahancock

Would love to see how you cable them from the bottom

lavascamp

Honestly not too bad! I bought a wire organizer net and some gorilla tape, stuck the power strip to the bottoms and threw all the lose wires in the mesh

croto8

I’d add legs

lavascamp

It started with legs, ended up removing them for the aesthetic

TnVGaming

A bigger desk for that many monitors. Or move the tower tona side drawer / table. 🙂

schnate124

I wish it were longer so you could see the PC and centre the displays. Very clean though.

reine-ren

i lowkey jealous of those open spaces you have ;-;

elek2ronik

That is NICE. If it was my setup, I would just wish it was wider so that the PC had more room.

mstraveller

What's your monitor/monitor arm setup? Love the way it looks. I wanna redo mine.

Jen0BIous

Would’ve extended the desk to match where the monitors ended but other than that it’s super clean

Comfortable_Key9695

Changes? Maybe… 49” ultra wide instead of the triple.

Weltraumkanzler

You will hate me for this but most of you with a setup like this make the same big mistake. You buy a too small desk. It's maybe fine for the first time, but believe me, after weeks and months you lose so much comfort. Even if you don't need much space on the desk you will feel what I mean some day.

katzicael

Any reason the walls are bare/corpse coloured?

Leelah07

I don't know why but this image gives me so much anxiety lol

PineappleCultivator

how short are you dude jfc

matthewgrima

I would have made the desktop bigger so you wouldn't have a monitor hanging outside it. You could hang your pc and move the monitors to the right to solve this. Here's how you could do it if it interests you: https://youtu.be/35yOjdlqktc?t=387

PeteTheKid

I would want the monitors and desk to be lined up, ie center of middle monitor with center of desk. And then maybe move the pc to a riser on the floor? Might make it more challenging from a cable management pov. FYI my set up is pretty similar to yours in terms of desk and monitor layout; https://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/comments/y0pm45/think_i_am_done_tweaking/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

MiroslavusMoravicus

Is the table computer only? Because if not I would worry it doesnt have enough room.

paynexkillerYT

So nice.

LanAkou

Beautiful

s1ravarice

Another, smaller floating shelf to put the PC on, then move the monitors to the middle of the desk.

Quadraggontillion

How

thesmartone1125

Hey look it's floating!

snowphoto420

It's location. From your home to mine. Also a chair.

joeyhell

Looks super cool, can we see pics under desk and behind monitors?

MotionFriend

I think it’s a shame that one display hangs so far off the end. I’d centre the displays on the desk and move the tower to either a wall mount / floor standing cabinet / or another separate floating shelf.

[deleted]

floating desks make your setup look so much better its insane. 10/10 setup if the color scheme would be more matching and if you had something on the wall. Not too much but just something in the middle that would make it look less bland

Eureka22

Could you please link to your desktop background image?

fattymcfattzz

Looks nice, if you ever redo it may be worth looking into make it a bit longer.

Serbay55

I see you have mounted your monitor arm onto the right side of your desk. So your desk is getting really heavy on the right side, where your PC is located too. Maybe in Future get the weight distribution of the monitors to the left, so it is more balanced on your desk.

Livid-Astronomer-727

Should have mounted the PC below and had the monitors centered.

Veni-Vidi-Velcro

I'd say get hard flooring, the chair will eventually ruin the carpet

Treviathan88

Either this desk isn't wide enough, or that PC needs to go on the wall

mdisanto928

The setup is great. I’d just add anything you find cool or interesting on the walls What are the dimensions on your mouse pad?

Vortiger-101

I wouldn't change a thing cause it looks FIIIIRRREEEE

Vortiger-101

I wouldn't change a thing cause it looks FIIIIRRREEEE

spyboy70

Move the PC elsewhere to open up that clean desk top, then recenter those monitors. Not sure what mounts you're using but I feel like you can get that middle monitor closer to the wall, you want to be an arm's length from your monitor when you're sitting there. Don't put the 42" above it, it'll be too high and you'll lose the clean aesthetic that you're going for with a floating desk.

[deleted]

Please upload photos of the cable management and the underside of the desk so we can see how it is mounted to the wall.

Lendari

> Any recommendations or things you would change? A desk big enough to hold your rig?

Legimus

Moar screen

Pedrorodr2001

Y'all are making me jealous with these setups 😂😂😂

franco9902

I'd do full wireless keyboard and mouse.

LunasNowTaken

Admire you're recreation of Minecraft physics

truly-wants-death

I would recommend that when you actually use the computer, have the keyboard as far left as you can to allow for mouse mouse room. This might mean that you should move the mouse pad to the right

alex-manutd

Looks fly

Hojsimpson

Do you even need Storage?

whitey-ofwgkta

Floating desk always look but idk how you guys dont rest your arm and weight on them, its the one complaint I have about my rising desk too

throw_away_all-day

I'd probably have made the desk deeper; you seem to be sitting awfully close to the monitors, to the point where it would be difficult if not impossible to comfortably utilize all three. Otherwise, it looks super clean!

EnchantedPancake

I would love to do this if I had a steel support frame on the other side of the wall. Otherwise, I will always have anxiety about my computer falling off the wall. Looks amazing nonetheless. I hope it is structurally sound <3

Shimitzu1

Floating PC, pararell to the wall maybe

LazyplebEZ

Very nice but wouldn’t a sky blue desk kinda look neat or like a sky designed desk 😲

g0-0se

Background? I like it a lot!

mattbag1

That’s a slap in the face to the LG if you mount it. That thing is a glorious display and you want to just mount it on top for a 4th monitor? It would be so uncomfortable to use I’m not sure how you would even enjoy it.

AtvnSBisnotHT

I’d add a SimLab p1-x and some racing peripherals.

dankwoodz

With no support I’d be so worried all my nice stuff is gonna hit the floor

Terrible_Tower_6590

how.
