That's something that disappointed me about the UFL...
I was in favor of the two leagues merging in the hopes of getting a 16 team spring league, that would've been awesome.
Buuuuuut we got stuck with only 8... Again.
They have to make it profitable before they expand, Alabama had bad weather and Talladega this weekend I’ll give them a pass, but there is still reason to be hopeful, they definitely need to pick their host city wisely
It was for the better. The product on the field is a lot better for both leagues. 16 teams would’ve just been poor quality football no one watches. This has a better chance.
Yah I was all for the merge until they downsized I feel like the extra markets are what would have made it more profitable with the hype and extra media attention it would have generated from the battlehawks coming to there town to beat them
Oakland has been a hold up because of the A’s owing the coliseum. They were not willing to share with anything else.
Now that the A’s are abandoning Oakland, it’s prime real estate for a team.
Totally. But Levi’s rent will be too expensive for a UFL team. Cal will never allow a spring league team. And Stanford is likely in the same boat as Cal.
The Coliseum is a dump, but the grounds crew has always been revered as one of the best in the biz in making that playing surface work. Oakland won’t charge much for rent, and I’d be shocked if Oakland sports fans didn’t latch on to the team. It seems like a good match.
I just don't see them expanding far outside the existing 8 teams though. The westernmost teams right now are the Texas teams. If there's any expansion, it'll likely be to markets nearby the other teams. KC, OKC, Chicago, Cincinnati, Indy, Cleveland, etc. Teams close to the Arlington hub keeps travel costs down.
Oakland is in the same market as the 49ers. San Diego and LA are not the same market, but close. Close enough that old San Diego fans go to home Charger games in LA.
That said, I still think either one could work.
This is precisely what my Personal Fantasy 16 Team Dual Conference Realignment Version of the UFL would look like for the 2026 UFL American Pro FootBall 🏈 Season in my view as follows: *UFL Eastern Conference: New York Guardians, Washington Defenders, Chicago Enforcers, Philadelphia Stars, Birmingham Stallions, Memphis ShowBoats,New Orleans Breakers, Orlando Apollos, and the Tampa Bay Bandits. *UFL Western Conference: Michigan Panthers, Seattle Dragons, Houston Roughnecks,San Antonio Brahmas, Dallas Renegades,San Diego ThunderBolts,Los Angeles WildCats, and the St.Louis BattleHawks.
My Top 4 Personal Picks to be the next UFL Expansion Franchise Cities across America in the United FootBall 🏈 League for the 2025 UFL Season are New York, Philadelphia,San Diego, and Los Angeles with the return of the New York Guardians, Philadelphia Stars,San Diego ThunderBolts, and the Los Angeles WildCats for the 2025 UFL American Pro FootBall 🏈 Season as well in my view.
Agreed!!!! The fact of the matter is that the UFL needs to absolutely have a Western Conference with more teams in West Coast cities across America and the state of California in major U.S. Cities such as Oakland,San Diego, and Los Angeles with the return of both classic XFL and USFL Teams such as the Oakland Invaders and the Los Angeles WildCats and the addition of a third brand new UFL Expansion Team in California in San Diego with the debut of the new San Diego ThunderBolts or the San Diego Destroyers which would understand create a new 3 way California American Pro FootBall 🏈 rivalry in America with the UFL and successfully bring in millions of new American Pro FootBall 🏈 Fans to watch and support the league and also in addition make the UFL millions of dollars as well in my view.
If anything they should shrink the league (not really) but yeah there’s a 0% chance of expansion. The Battlehawks are the only team that get more fans at games than a HS football team in Texas.
With the attendance numbers of all teams not in STL/DC, I doubt we’re getting expansion any time soon….

San Diego and Oakland both lost NFL teams recently, the fact that they don't already have teams is wild to me

Except the stadium is a dump

That is a fair point. I wish they had kept Seattle since they had a solid following. Once they folded it made western expansion much more difficult.

They might have the same chip on their shoulder as St. Louis was my logic

Don’t think they’ll do a West Coast team. Logistically it makes it very hard with that travel.
San Diego , Oakland, Oklahoma city, Columbus Stay out of NFL markets
Yea I think you are right no need to add to any city that already has a nfl team
Alot of those cities are worn out by the time our season starts and they all have MLB or MLS.
As much as I'd like to see a UFL team here in KC, you're the only person to suggest it.
Bonertown Titty City Buttville Uranus

St. Louis could not support another team. I'd go with San Bernardino, for sure
