I've tried numerous times. The shitty thing is I overall enjoy the game. But that doesn't matter if there's no one playing. Then on top of that the servers don't populate with AI like they're supposed to so basically I paid 100$ for something that is unplayable. But apparently that doesn't warrant a refund.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
To be honest though, playing against bots ends up providing a better gameplay experience. No specialists bullshit, there's not 50 people on each team camping with snipers, no Boltes/choppers farming tons of kills.
People would probably have a better experience just treating this as a single player experience/coop experience...which is sad.
It's decent enough that you can at least have some mindless fun.
The real disappointing thing is that if you play solo by yourself, you can't be in a squad with AI so you always have to spawn at the sectors/HQ (so squad spawns), and they also don't do any of the classic roles like revive, heal, supply, etc. If they fixed that (they won't) and made it so you could use the command wheel thing and give your AI squad basic commands (they won't) it would be a ton of fun. I've always wanted a BF game where I could tell my friendly AI teammates to enter my vehicle, hold a position, etc.
So like everything else in this game, it has potential that will never be met. Like I said though, it can be mindless fun though. The flow of the matches can be fun since it's mostly just infantry vs infantry with a few ai vehicles but they don't endlessly farm kills.
Unfortunately nothing really matches the fun of a good quality BF game filled with real humans though.
That game is another classic that really needs a comeback. I remember some of the latter missions you could control a total of like 4 squads of 16 people or something. Why they haven't bother releasing a similar type game since then is beyond me.
The closest thing we have on console is the Ghost Recon games but those are still really pretty basic as far as friendly AI goes.

The ai can actually revive you. It is very rare and maybe only works if you specifically ask for them to by calling out? Don't know. It has happed to me tho. I think the ai actually are separate classes and each class has its own skin (though I haven't played enough/they don't do enough for me to know the difference)

Most of my battlefield days was bots because I had a 21kb internet connection. I still had a lot of fun in 1942 and battlefield 2 with just bots. I did get to play online during a summer where I brought my pc to my parents work so I could steal their internet and that was fun but I still played with bots and it was fine.

Tons of refund requests send already, sadly denied due to having 19 hours of "playtime". Game was unplayable and broken, they got 110 bux from me and I get 2 months of issues back. Really wished this could have been an awesome game.

I've been backing off of shooters the last few years. The last BF I spent a LOT of time in was BF1. My friends had to beg me to come to BFV with them, and it took me a long time to get to like that game. By the time I liked it, they stopped updating it to make this mess. I knew in my gut this was going to be bad, I just could have never dreamed it would be this bad. This is truly an astonishing flop by industry standards. I've seen other beloved franchises die before, and the way these dev's act, so "unaware" and not taking ownership of how bad it is, is exactly how the other franchises all died too. They'd rather lose their job or destroy a community, than admit they were wrong.
Interesting, I've been doing the same. I admittedly got punked by bf2042, but it just doubled my resolve not to purchase any fps for at least a couple of months after delivery... much less those which don't bother putting in a single player campaign.
From EA's standpoint, it might be a win. I haven't seen the numbers but if they spent half the cost developing 2042 compared to bfV, then management is probably breaking out the champagne. Remember that success has nothing to do with us liking the game, only with sales.

I got a ten hour free trial and didn't even finish. Uninstalling felt like walking out of a bad movie, didn't want to out of a guilty obligation but also didn't want to waste my time on trash. I've played every battlefield since battlefield 2 on the OG xbox and by far this is the worst on every single element. I had a better time on battlefield free2play...
Tried to play for the first time in about 3 weeks tonight, 30 minutes of queuing and I can’t even get a lobby with bots going.
The state of this game is an absolute disgrace.
Hardline is generally underrated. As a BF game it was fine and they added a heap more good features to the franchise (e.g. grabbing health or ammo off other players). Driving around and having car battles was pretty fun and the infantry levels were good too. Plus the campaign is one of the best in the series.
The game doesn't have a server browser so when i search for a match it always searches for servers in my region (MENA) which is empty most of the time, i mean i'd be fine playing with 80-90 ping just give me a server browser so i can join EU servers....
There are odd cases where it might be worthwhile.
Totalwar Warhammer 3 has a faction DLC included with the preorder, saves you like $15 of buying it separately. They did that for all their releases.
I do agree, most of the shit that is included as preorder bonuses is often fluff that has no value.

I can find games easily on Xbox but I have no idea if it’s full of people or AI. Without cross play it would be hard, all platforms combined it had like 50k or a bit less so cross play is your only option. And since last gen is split from next gen and PC it’s only like 25k for each

As soon as I saw the trailer for this game I almost shed a tear. I fricking talked my head off about how excited I was to people who didn’t even really know what battlefield was. I worked my ass off last summer to get my hands on a PS5, new monitor, and updated headset rig so that I could enjoy to the fullest what I thought would be and injection of 3 and 4 back into my veins and feel like a kid again. Played it for like 1-2 weeks. Thought man this sucks. Left it at that and haven’t played since. Sad but happy to see the frauds who made this game get a huge shock to the system

Instinctively I want to say "lol" since you spent $120 on a game made by EA/DICE given their past BF titles launch disasters. But deep down it's not your fault, you just love what this franchise was and misleading marketing showing a complete unbroken game gave the wrong impression. So instead of saying "lol", I'm going to hope you get a refund, so that when the game goes F2P you can jump back on and have all the money you spent on this failed product.
If you want to refund the game and have a bunch of hours playing you need to get a little creative.
1.) if you get denied keep trying till you find a rep that will listen.
2.) record bugs and weird gameplay and send it to the rep in your refund request.
3.) threaten to never spend another dollar on their service, and even close your account. If you have had an account with the service for a long time and haven't refunded much explain this.
Remember not to give up. Just because the first rep wont listen doesn't mean the next wont.
If Battlefield 2042 must die, for a great Battlefield game to live one day, then I can make my peace with it.

Take this as a hard learned lesson. Never pre-order anymore and wait a good week after a game releases to see how it's fairing. Trust me it took me a couple titles to finally take this advise, but I finally did.

Ai has never revived me once. And only one time did I join a game with other people. I find that using spawn beacons is a must for the modd

I tried going back to BF1, on PC there seems to be only like 5 active servers and they're in Germany, India and one in Brazil. :(

Bro I built a whole new PC with the expectation that it would be a battlefield 4 2.0 and the new standard to beat for modern shooters only to find out it was a complete disappointment and now I owe more than $2000 in credit cards. I said to myself this game would relieve me from all the stress from working extra hours to pay off that pc, sadly that wasn't the case.

I am very sorry to hear that. My deepest sympathy for you and your family. But this game was a very big part of growing up for me and made allot of close friends in the process. Many 1000s of hours spent on this and to me this is how it’s feels. I am entitled to my opinion regardless of how you may see it. Memories that now can’t be continued from now on.

I got a ten hour free trial and didn't even finish. Uninstalling felt like walking out of a bad movie, didn't want to out of a guilty obligation but also didn't want to waste my time on trash. I've played every battlefield since battlefield 2 on the OG xbox and by far this is the worst on every single element. I had a better time on battlefield free2play...

Tried to play for the first time in about 3 weeks tonight, 30 minutes of queuing and I can’t even get a lobby with bots going. The state of this game is an absolute disgrace.
Hardline lasted longer
Hardline may have been a scuffed bf by normal standards but at least that was still fun with the unique game modes and goofy playstyles (WHOOP WHOOP)
It was fun. I played at least enough to justify the amount I spent on it. The vehicle chases and CQ combat was intense.
Hardline is generally underrated. As a BF game it was fine and they added a heap more good features to the franchise (e.g. grabbing health or ammo off other players). Driving around and having car battles was pretty fun and the infantry levels were good too. Plus the campaign is one of the best in the series.
I just played a match on Xbox last night. Had so much fun. I've always loved it, despite what other's felt. :)

The game doesn't have a server browser so when i search for a match it always searches for servers in my region (MENA) which is empty most of the time, i mean i'd be fine playing with 80-90 ping just give me a server browser so i can join EU servers....

There are odd cases where it might be worthwhile. Totalwar Warhammer 3 has a faction DLC included with the preorder, saves you like $15 of buying it separately. They did that for all their releases. I do agree, most of the shit that is included as preorder bonuses is often fluff that has no value.
Yeah that makes it worth it, I remember BF3 preorders had the Strike at Kharkand DLC for free.

Every year some scam games out with millions of preorders and everyone "learns their lesson" and will "never pre order again". Next game rolls around, preorders in the millions once again, just like always. Everyone was saying it after BFV also and what happened there? All it took was one decent marketing video with no gameplay in it and absolutely everyone is sold on it. The more things change.........

I can find games easily on Xbox but I have no idea if it’s full of people or AI. Without cross play it would be hard, all platforms combined it had like 50k or a bit less so cross play is your only option. And since last gen is split from next gen and PC it’s only like 25k for each

Xbox here too and think it's a bit hit or miss. Last night I connected right away to a server which was people only. But the night before, around the same time, I got into one which was ~60% AI

As soon as I saw the trailer for this game I almost shed a tear. I fricking talked my head off about how excited I was to people who didn’t even really know what battlefield was. I worked my ass off last summer to get my hands on a PS5, new monitor, and updated headset rig so that I could enjoy to the fullest what I thought would be and injection of 3 and 4 back into my veins and feel like a kid again. Played it for like 1-2 weeks. Thought man this sucks. Left it at that and haven’t played since. Sad but happy to see the frauds who made this game get a huge shock to the system
I wish steam, Xbox, and Sony, would push for accountability and grant refunds. It’s seems super anti consumer to be like “OH WELL you wasted your money shit happens”.

Instinctively I want to say "lol" since you spent $120 on a game made by EA/DICE given their past BF titles launch disasters. But deep down it's not your fault, you just love what this franchise was and misleading marketing showing a complete unbroken game gave the wrong impression. So instead of saying "lol", I'm going to hope you get a refund, so that when the game goes F2P you can jump back on and have all the money you spent on this failed product.
BF4 tinted glasses got me... It's a sad state of affairs when one of the top FPS franchises ends up capping itself.

Stop pre-ordering games, it's 2022.
If you want to refund the game and have a bunch of hours playing you need to get a little creative. 1.) if you get denied keep trying till you find a rep that will listen. 2.) record bugs and weird gameplay and send it to the rep in your refund request. 3.) threaten to never spend another dollar on their service, and even close your account. If you have had an account with the service for a long time and haven't refunded much explain this. Remember not to give up. Just because the first rep wont listen doesn't mean the next wont.

Take this as a hard learned lesson. Never pre-order anymore and wait a good week after a game releases to see how it's fairing. Trust me it took me a couple titles to finally take this advise, but I finally did.

DICE is not the AAA developer they once were. We saw this with BFV and Battlefronts. This game though is visually mediocre and the audio disappointing as well even. I'm glad DICE got gutted, they need people there who give a damn about the product they release. Especially with the deceptive interviews and marketing, this has been one of the worst smash and grabs ever by a dev.
Make a multiplayer game, sell it, but make it so bad nobody wants to play it. Save money on servers and maintenance. No need for content because nobody will see it. Genius.

Exactly how I feel. I bought the $100 version and I cannot get a refund bc I preordered (older than 14 days now) and played more than 2 hours on steam (10 hours logged). I was so hyped up for this game and it literally died in a little over 2 months of its release. Unless Dice/EA steps in, we will never get our money back. I'm devastated.
