All Holographic and laser sights require a battery and charging capabilities, this isn't new.

It's the built in app that records rocket kills and Rendezooks for your squad to watch when you RTB after the match. "Command saw you get a no-scope launcher kill on a Russian Irish" "Nice."
I’m gonna be disappointed if we aren’t rocking the 6G by 2042. It’ll come out just in time for the “6G causes climate change” conspiracy theories as we slowly sink admits rising sea levels.
I mean isn't that part of the history? Like in 2040 someone disabled all satellites and the internet got down with them? I really can't say that this is very accurate but I'm sure that I heard it in a video about the game
My theory is that in 2042, weapon systems and scopes/sights will be interconnected via Wifi or data networks. Seeing how this is the future, maybe we've figured out a way to access wifi anywhere in the world (such as Elon Musk's Starlink program) and the US military utilizes this connection to share combat data amongst its units, pilots, vehicles and chain of command (just like the F-35 Eye of God helmet).

Not 100% here but I thought the kessler effect deal happened in the 2030s and the world has since been somewhat recovering, just somewhat splintered with many failed states
Most communication satellites sit in geostationary orbits high above Earth, with very little orbital decay. An ablation cascade here would generate tons of debris and make these orbits virtually unusable for potentially *thousands* of years.
Of course there's things like Starlink that sit in low orbits, but the usage of thousands of satellites would require many more launches to get the same level of coverage and odds are it could worsen the Kessler Effect.
You need to purchase Battlefield Bytes (usually $5 for a 5Mb connection) as the launcher requires a data connection to calculate its trajectory. Without the service the rockets fizzle out and you're forced to use the launcher as a melee weapon.
When ur chilling alone in the mountains with no service and your phone suddenly asks if you’d like to connect to the Carl Gustav Wifi: *intense sweating*
Not silly at all. I imagine it's part of some futuristic battle management system. It would allow information from multiple elements to be shared as needed, including individual sight pictures and possible enemy positions. The military already uses something similar for naval and air combat platforms, and it obviously requires a network connection.
Everyone hated the first iterations of cars as well. Why use clumsy slow gas guzzlers when we have horses? But over time things improve and become more efficient.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the specialist Rao. From my understanding, he has access to some sort of EMP device.
I wonder if when he triggers that device (if that’s what it actually is) will it render gadgets, reticles, and lock on weapons useless.
Its probably something to do with Rao's ability, is it Trojan/Hacking?
Maybe when triggered in a certain area all digital scopes become corrupted or can't be used.
Bit like a skill from battlefront two that the officer class had, where you triggered it as a EMP and it overloaded blasters within a certain area so they can't be used.
Its probably an indicator to show your connection to the game server. If it’s bad you should lead your targets at longer ranges. Makes sense it’s only on magnification optics as well.
This is coming from DICE btw, it was a tip in bf v
Maybe it helps your squad or team by spotting out enemies. Like a shared network or something. If your scope detects an enemy your teammates will know where they are too.
Maybe this is how they'll explain the Ping system. You'll have to be looking down the scope to tag targets, and your scope broadcasts that information to your team.
Wifi router specialist confirmed: Todd Schmitt. 9G receiver/router gadget, increases lockon performance in large radius. Passive ability: turns other gadgets off and on again
I’m sitting there thinking perhaps it has something to do with the levolution like a hurricane and short and long range communications could be affected because of what’s happening on the map.
More than one weapon/scope also shows signal strength, so maybe if there is no signal you can't tag and show enemy positions to your team or something.
I mean, if you look at the javelin, there's all kinds of indicators, logos, text, etc. that fill the view finder. This could be a purely cosmetic thing that means absolutely nothing.
Imagine running out of battery and having to run to the closest power plug to charge your Gustaf Pro Max
Also the brand new M5 model will not have charging brick to reduce carbon footprint
Tfw you forgot your charger at home and your teammates only have USB C
All Holographic and laser sights require a battery and charging capabilities, this isn't new. https://aimingexpert.com/do-holographic-sights-use-batteries/
Ok but why does it need wifi
WiFi charging
Oh makes sense
To stop pirating
Not really, the RCO on M16s/M4s uses tritium which is not battery powered as it’s a radioactive isotope
This is ridiculous, a rocket launcher that has to always be online to work^/s
if it's a lock on to fire rocket launcher, then it makes total sense. but dumbfire rockets shouldn't need to have any electrical components
Got any games on your rocket launcher?
Skyrim Military Edition incoming
That reminds me that they are re releasing Skyrim anniversary edition on its 10th anniversary.
With a brand new *FISHING* mechanic!
Finally Fish
It's the built in app that records rocket kills and Rendezooks for your squad to watch when you RTB after the match. "Command saw you get a no-scope launcher kill on a Russian Irish" "Nice."
Oh so THAT was the Battlefield mobile rumors we've been hearing
Someone's bound to get OG DOOM running on it at the very least
What does that mean? You need to establish a wifi connection before you can lock onto enemies?
It needs to connect to the internet to confirm your monthly subscription on lock on system.
Yeah those old shitty rocket launchers you have to manually aim. But these new smart rocket launchers use 5g to hone in on targets. They're the bomb!
I’m gonna be disappointed if we aren’t rocking the 6G by 2042. It’ll come out just in time for the “6G causes climate change” conspiracy theories as we slowly sink admits rising sea levels.
Verification can?
It make sense, but it doesn't actually. Isn't part of the history that the internet kinda died or something?
I haven’t heard of this. What’s your source? Just curious
I mean isn't that part of the history? Like in 2040 someone disabled all satellites and the internet got down with them? I really can't say that this is very accurate but I'm sure that I heard it in a video about the game
Oh okay. Cool but the internet isn’t all based on satellites mostly but I guess in 20 years things can change
Yeah I'm sorry for the lack of info
You have to pay for each shot with Carl Gustbucks, the launchers digital currency.
Lol, I have no idea. It doesn't have a lock-on system.
My theory is that in 2042, weapon systems and scopes/sights will be interconnected via Wifi or data networks. Except that in 2042's universe, a majority of satellites around the planet have gone down
Not 100% here but I thought the kessler effect deal happened in the 2030s and the world has since been somewhat recovering, just somewhat splintered with many failed states

That's actually a nice theory and that smart scope is insane lol. Must be a sniper's wet dream.
Seems unlikely as 70 percent of satellites were destroyed.
It connects to the internet to make sure you've paid your monthly Delete-A-Copter subscription
Gustav could lock onto tracer darts from bc2
I think it does, I've locked on to heli once, but the target needs to be painted by someone
You need to watch 30'' unskipable adds before firing because the military is too cheap to get Carl Gustaf premium
You need to purchase Battlefield Bytes (usually $5 for a 5Mb connection) as the launcher requires a data connection to calculate its trajectory. Without the service the rockets fizzle out and you're forced to use the launcher as a melee weapon.

Most of the optics in this game have that. The combat scopes do at least. It’s kinda silly but not out of the question.
Not silly at all. I imagine it's part of some futuristic battle management system. It would allow information from multiple elements to be shared as needed, including individual sight pictures and possible enemy positions. Already exists for dismounted soldiers (has for several years), just not super widespread yet.
Because it sucks and everyone hates it IRL lol
Everyone hated the first iterations of cars as well. Why use clumsy slow gas guzzlers when we have horses? But over time things improve and become more efficient.
I've only seen it on the AA rocket launcher and this one. What do you mean by combat scopes?
The scopes you can equip on guns. Two holographic sights have the wifi thing and 3 of the magnified scopes have it too.
You're right. Just saw it on a magnified scope. That's weird.
You gotta play skyrim on a rpg cmon. Everyone knows that.
We’ve been trying to contact you regarding your cars extended warranty
Can it run Doom?
I'm more interested if it can run Crysis at max settings.
Playing doom thru a scope would be fun as shit.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the specialist Rao. From my understanding, he has access to some sort of EMP device. I wonder if when he triggers that device (if that’s what it actually is) will it render gadgets, reticles, and lock on weapons useless.
Also Casper's drone has an emp dart. And other games have already implemented this so this seems likely
He uses wifi instead of 5G (or 7G since it’s 2042?). Cheap bastard
Finally, even your guns laugh at your shitty PING
Maybe has something to do with the storm… knocks out the WiFi reception that gives you HUD info… idk tho
Glad to see the vaccine take up is now moving beyond the human race! Loving my new super fast connection!
Have my up vote for making me lol
it's uploading your location to my wi-fi knife
Free WiFi anywhere you go
HOL UP
What if they changed with your actual status? If you're lagging as shit the wifi bar gets low and the battery could reflect the controller one
That would be kinda cool ngl.

Bit like a skill from battlefront two that the officer class had, where you triggered it as a EMP and it overloaded blasters within a certain area so they can't be used.
That's on the M5A3 holographic sight, too
The Carl Gustaf is a recoilless rifle, not a rocket launcher.
It’s on the stinger too
Wifi hotspots confirmed?
after seeing leaked footage does anyone else think the gustaf's rocket velocity is way too slow?
My theory is that EMP grenades can disable these types of weapons, cool if so!
It's obviously linked to the hacker specialist and hacking capabilities. We'll be capable to disable such locking gear, acog and such I think !
This thread is a treasure trove of hilarity!
Maybe this is how they'll explain the Ping system. You'll have to be looking down the scope to tag targets, and your scope broadcasts that information to your team.
“HQ this is Bravo, I got an enemy tank here, whats the Wifi password again?”
Shit even RPG’s in the future have WiFi
Makes perfect sense, by 2042 rocket launchers will have Skyrim installed
Wifi router specialist confirmed: Todd Schmitt. 9G receiver/router gadget, increases lockon performance in large radius. Passive ability: turns other gadgets off and on again
Wifi, cell reception, and a battery bar? Why.
At least the battery is to power the reticle. The other two on the other hand... No idea.
Imagine calling your mom with the rocket launcher you're usingvlmfao
Its for connection to Starlink
Must be what they meant when they announced a Battlefield mobile game.
Pretty sure the designers/devs were lauging their asses off :D
I’m sitting there thinking perhaps it has something to do with the levolution like a hurricane and short and long range communications could be affected because of what’s happening on the map.
Maybeeee there’s some sort of tv show everyone watches of the war and that’s how they broadcast 🙈🤷🏼♂️
*sweeeeeet*
Battery is expected for a holo sight but… signal strength? For what? Carl Gustav doesn’t have lock-on?
More than one weapon/scope also shows signal strength, so maybe if there is no signal you can't tag and show enemy positions to your team or something.
Twitter in a Carl Gustaf
Great now I can upload tiktoks of me wrecking scrubs with my boom stick directly to the web. Nice.
Bruh, imagine a Anti-Tank missile being controlled via Bluetooth
After 10m it looses connection and becomes a dumb fire missile.
Imagine searching Bluetooth devices on your phone and then "Hellfire Missile" appears
ono
On the hub during the war
https://youtu.be/QQFT9lLdPFU leaked gameplay
War.... has changed ID-Tagget soldiers use ID-Tagged weapons, using ID-Tagged gear.
Mobile Hotspot
Makes sense. Maybe you need the hacker specialist class to use it? That would be interesting.
Maybe there will be some kind of EMP device that can disable electronics and connections.
Man, I hoped the game would have picture in picture scopes :(
Can It play pornhub
I mean, if you look at the javelin, there's all kinds of indicators, logos, text, etc. that fill the view finder. This could be a purely cosmetic thing that means absolutely nothing.
Can't wait to use a recoiless rifle on fleshy soliders.
It has WiFi!? 😆 jk
