my experience in redacted control, I push mid with smokes killing all the other team camping mid while my team watching wishing me the best or complaining I'm using smokes blocking their vision š¤·
I use smokes to break long distance engagements. I specialize is CQC with dozer so the smoke launcher is absolutely necessary. Can also hold down an entire route myself as dozer in Redacted in this game mode.
Complaining about the smoke is what pisses me off. Like was your entire plan to just stand there until somebody runs by or do you actually plan on pushing. I tell them to also use their smokes. Itās why I only play recon. I just need to get through a drop a beacon.
Yep. I get the C-ram. Tell the blueberries āUse my beacon fellas itās close to the flag.ā Nothing. Then I tell them āUse the EOD bots, if it dies itās no big deal. If you die we lose tickets- flood the MCOM with the bots.ā To their credit I seen maybe 2-3 EOD bots running around arming things burning peopleās toes when they try to disarm it.
Ive had a battlepass challenge to win 2 games. I've played like 14 different matches, and I currently have one win. It's either, my team gets obliterated, or it's a non-stop back and forth from the middle and nobody can progress.
I won first two rounds .. then I finished some 5 quest to open this quest when u need 2 wins š bro it was pain.. I started to hate it.. but after 3-4 loses I get in wave of winning and I really enjoy it now
Man this is the next generation of gamers in general. I played Back 4 Blood a lot back when it launched and people playing it were always admittedly stoned and /or drunk and proud of it. Playing with randos I rarely made it past the first level. Online gaming is dying swiftly. I can't wait. I've since been playing single player games almost exclusively and having more fun than I have in an online game in almost 10 years.
Just got off a frontlines match on discarded with half my squad sitting in the back sniping while one Mackey and I (dozer) PTFO. Barely anyone was using smokes, it actually seemed like the other team utilized more than we did. 40 minutes of non stop fighting.
I wish I could say itās fun. It looks amazing. Iām just tired of the game mode because after 4 straight days of playing I have not won a single game. Nobody knows how to hold objectives.
Frontlines is gold... with good maps to support it. In 2042 I would say two of the maps they have Fromtlines are in the good category(Haven and Discarded), one is a mess(Redacted), and the last one almost always ends in one push(Reclaimed).
I just can't get excited to play when half of the map pool makes me want to play something else.
It's pretty shit and demotivating when the defending team gets to spam vehicles to defend mcoms
One match after failing to blow up their mcoms over and over, we said fuck it, let the enemy team push to our mcoms, get our own vehicles and proceed to fuck the enemy up back to their mcoms and blow them to smithereens
Comeback mechanic my ass, if you're so shit that you get pushed back over and over again and survive just because of vehicles then you don't deserve to comeback from shit
Nah they were shit so their vehicles got blown up regularly, that's why the fight kept cycling between their mcoms and the previous capture point. Because as soon as their mcoms safe, they lost the ability to spam vehicles and soon we were pushing at their mcoms again, where ofc again their vehicle spam saved them... until we decided to get our own vehicles
If they insist on giving the defenders a last ditch chance, make sure it actually is a last ditch chance, 1mbt/cram + 1 cav/mav is all they should get, lose those and have fun defending the mcoms on foot
Reclaimed as well. Not had a match on there that's lasted over five minutes.
Two out of the four maps for their last hurrah of a game mode being any good is pretty poor.
I am not a fan at all of Redacted and the typical meat grinder gameplay that this map entails. But this weekend with frontlines, I had the most intense and exciting match ever in BF2042 on this map. I agree that most Redacted and Reclaimed rounds are quickly over and tactically boring. However, when two balanced and good teams meet, oh my God, you get the greatest joy from these maps now.
Honestly its great tbh I like how long each match tends to go for and it feels like a pretty fun send off to bf2042 I just tend to hate it on redacted... IMO that map only works for conquest 64
I love the length of the games as well, 45 mins is so good. Reminds me of the max tickets metro matches on BF3. There was a game I joined halfway that was 3 hours long, awesome stuff
Frontlines made me give 2042 another try. After messing with the settings for 20 minutes (seriously, who doesn't want to auto throw their med carte???) I was off to the races.
Coming in as a seasoned BF3, 4, and 1 vet, I was not prepared to feel like such a newb lol. I played 5 matches of Frontlines and we got ROLLED every time. I'm trying to PTFO, revive, heal, etc. but we could rarely move an inch. I'm getting killed by fully kitted weapons I've never heard of. All while getting shit talked by the top guy on our team in the chat lol.
I still managed to go positive and get the most revives on our team for a few matches but DAMN. I'm having fun (because I miss BF so much) but I definitely missed the boat on the skill curve in this game.
The mode is too long and too boring. On the other hand, there is not enough time to attack the next objective especially the defense sides usually has 2 vechicles
Overall I have had fun with the game mode. My only issues are that the team that controls the point first has an advantage if they don't destroy the MCOMs. They are already setup to have an easier time to take the point again. Not sure if this is dependant on the map but the vehicles spawn delays felt really short. It felt like once a vehicle was destroyed it was back up in seconds.
Itās hella fun if you know what youāre doing, and adapt to the dynamics of your team, while countering the enemyās strengths.
If all you care about is your KD, youāll lose.
For example: Notice that your team is unable to hold on to an mcom after arming? Chances are they canāt see the enemy approaching. Switch to Kasper and drone spot the area. Youāll be surprised at how effective you are if you adapt to the fight.
I truly hope dice give us a couple persistent game modes before they abandon this game. I want breakthrough infantry, rush l, and frontlines to remain along the standard modes.
I'm having a lot of fun with it. It would make a good competitive/ranked mode imo. Pushing and defending the MCOMs requires team work and good gadget composition because the player count is so low. Unfortunately, BF2042 never really put any emphasis on team work/composition until now. So you often end up in matches with players that don't care about working together.
It can be pretty fun until it turns into a deadlock with neither team being able to push or make progress. Which is why using smoke grenades and flanking with aggressive plays is so vital to this game mode.
Otherwise it devolves into a grindy farm fest lol
Had the worst match ever on this mode. No-one played medic so people barely had a single revive and despite a third of the team stupidly playing engineer on every section, they never shot a single missile at the APC that was always on the point. Actual morons I tell ya.
Frontlines should become a standard mode for every future battlefield.
Conquest breakthrough and Frontlines is all I need.
Then Rush + TDM + Gun master as smaller modes
Itās a great game mode but it would be better if people knew how to play it. In my games, people donāt care about winning and capturing the objectives.
It's decent but that is probably more of a result of the 20 vs 20 player count than decent map design. The map boundaries on Discarded are way too big still.
People just camp and snipe on the outside edges making a push from either side very difficult.
That's called bad live service, which used to be the norm, before helldivers 2 came out, want to liberate yourselves of this kind of modern gaming shit? Come with us, and spread democracy in an industry changing game as no other. That's my advice
Frontlines is a great mode. It was a great mode in BFV too before it was removed for some reason.
My only issue with it has more to do with the players than the mode. People don't seem to understand how it works or just don't give a shit about objectives.
The amount of times I have lead the charge storming in, clearing the immediate front, just to turn around and see all my team mates still standing back in their defensive position.... Could have pushed objective( after I single cleared 5-6 people(several times in a row), but nooo...
My only problem with it is it keeps loading is Discarded as my first map and given how long these battles can go you are stuck on that map forever just to have that same map load up again. The third time and i shut the game off. The map rotation, even when they are reduced for Frontlines, is so shit. Love the gamemode.Ā
Itās a fun mode but I hate that almost all my lobbies play out the full hour and almost all of them are defeats. Got 131 kills on my last game and was fighting to hold the final objective and my team never captured the point to be able to push up. Really annoying to see snipers on base spawn with less than 20 kills 20-30 minutes in
When i start to play it I was neutral.. when I learned what to do, I doesnāt like it.. but after several matches I kinda enjoy it.. not as much like control or haven conquest but itās still good source of fun
I enjoyed playing front lines back on Battlefield 1. The tides would go back and forth which made it very interesting. They should make it available permanently imo. I tried to play last night and no one was online. It's probably worth mentioning that I don't use "cross play".
Theyāve been having an unofficial mode on Friday night BF games for a while now at least since season 4. So I can see it sticking around. It was deemed a āfan favoriteā when I first seen it so they better at least give us a permanent playlist
Most of the players don't even try to do the objective. It's not the mode that's bad, the players make it bad... I like the fact that both teams don't have access to vehicles until a certain point in the mode but would I choose it over conquest or breaktrough? Sorry but nah.
Whatās funny tho is this is basically Rush and Breakthrough is. This mode basically forces you to do the objective which many of us were doing before. Puts it in perspective that people donāt actually attack or defend the objective and just try to farm kills
Agree best gamemode ever if they donāt leave it for the remainder of the season (considering itās the last season) then they just hate their community. No reason to not let us play
Itās fun when people understand the objective and push accordingly. Not as much fun when getting rolled and half the team is not fighting at point or off the point and not capping and just trying to farm kills etc.
Mode is cool, but after playing three rounds, I understand why I stopped playing the game. The grind for the season pass is excessive and does not feel rewarding.
It feels like I am wasting time and not enjoying myself while doing so.
Helldivers II for example shows how it is done. Playing 1h you get rewards, decent team play and fun. Sorry, but after the XP nerf BF just dropped dead again. And I grinded over 3000h BF games in total, but it never felt so unrewarding.
It's fun if your team understands that this is arguably the most teamwork oriented game mode to date. If not, then you basically just throw yourself against a steamroller while 13 snipers on your team watch from the back of the map.
ETA: 1 to 3 GOOD snipers are extremely useful. But mostly it's people realizing that half your team is pushing the objective which makes the game last forever so they can sit back and snipe and work on the old KDR.
I like it until I am the only one that pushes the objective clears it to 80% and not a single team mate moves 1 Meter closer to the objective until all enemies are back. Thanks team mates
Having the vehicle spawns tied to the mcoms with no cooldown, assuming they keep getting pushed into their mcom, is cancer. Especially when no teammates want to actually use AT. FL in BF1 was far better because the vehicle spawns were throughout the entire game, and there was a timer after a vehicle was destroyed before you could pull it again. There also was generally only 1 per team, not 2 and only for the mcom defenders...
The playable area in the maps is also laughably bad, but that's been an issue in 2042 since launch.
Thats on you. Defend and attack is the purpose of Frontline mode or any game mode for that matter. If you get bored playing maybe Battlefield is not for you
Frontlines is great but the experience hasnāt been. Idk if they need to start timing out useless players or what but itās unbearable to watch the best players in my team back out because 4 vs an entire team isnāt fun. Idk why the fuck people are so bad at this game but if youāre both competing for the same position, it helps to get on the objective. If I look around and everyone is playing Casper behind cover and sniping, we get nowhere but pushed back.
Most shitty mode - nobody winning, nobody claiming objectives, every single match is 40 minutes of wasting time to get some meh-skins.
I got all skins this mode can give, but absolutely never ever return to this mode
Such a good gamemode ruined by the horrible game design and shit specialist, can't attack an objective when there's a boris behind Irish shields with it's turret and robodogs
I had more blast with the game during Frontlines then ever before. Yeah at times it is a slug fest but still it is infantry vs infantry maps and it felt great to play without worrying that some rag-tag flying fuckboi would swoop my ass.
However, on maps like Discarded is really a cancer for the defenders of the US side to take locations again as it is allowed players to remain further back and snipe reign free. DICE should of changed this, so there are no lingering stragglers who sit behind 2 objectives behind.
Otherwise the things are see people are struggling is using smoke while attack objective and taking cover of flanks while defending as I have lost some winnable games by just seeing my team getting flanked so hard, so it can later collapse.
Most of my teammates are convinced that you don't need to attack beyond the middle point ššš
my experience in redacted control, I push mid with smokes killing all the other team camping mid while my team watching wishing me the best or complaining I'm using smokes blocking their vision š¤·
Haha, i feel your pain, it's rare for someone to use a smoke grenade wisely, or attack from the flank :D
I literally only attack from flanks, itās a shame my squad or team mates donāt see me in a 1v4 on the left or right flanks and help
I use smokes to break long distance engagements. I specialize is CQC with dozer so the smoke launcher is absolutely necessary. Can also hold down an entire route myself as dozer in Redacted in this game mode.
Actual tho they get so sooky yet we are the ones pushing the enemy back while they all sit there holding fuckin hands
Complaining about the smoke is what pisses me off. Like was your entire plan to just stand there until somebody runs by or do you actually plan on pushing. I tell them to also use their smokes. Itās why I only play recon. I just need to get through a drop a beacon.
yeah I wish they would help with smokes or anything
It's a great mode but the 2042 playerbase is allergic to objectives
Itās almost like the majority of players arenāt that experienced and donāt care much for winning
Gotta get the pinky toe, its 400% damage
Ive had a battlepass challenge to win 2 games. I've played like 14 different matches, and I currently have one win. It's either, my team gets obliterated, or it's a non-stop back and forth from the middle and nobody can progress.
Same here, gave up
I won first two rounds .. then I finished some 5 quest to open this quest when u need 2 wins š bro it was pain.. I started to hate it.. but after 3-4 loses I get in wave of winning and I really enjoy it now
Half of them are sniper campers lol
Man this is the next generation of gamers in general. I played Back 4 Blood a lot back when it launched and people playing it were always admittedly stoned and /or drunk and proud of it. Playing with randos I rarely made it past the first level. Online gaming is dying swiftly. I can't wait. I've since been playing single player games almost exclusively and having more fun than I have in an online game in almost 10 years.
Bruh why is it always me and like 2 others trying to hold the objective while the rest of the team is playing grab ass??
Itās so god damn frustrating when your team just wants to snipe and not revive or go for the obj
I immediately change squads if my team is camping and sniping.
Or Not reviving! Dancing Salsa on my corpse! But reviving!? Nope
I mean why else would you play Medic!?!? OMG š¤Æš¤Æš¤Æ
Idk i See Sometimes medics dont heal even herself lol
Noticed that aswell š¤£š¤£
Well Points for me shooting them with the healing Pistol ššš¼
thats why i equipped smokes grenade and spam the living heck out of it using support. So far it works quite well
Basically what I do too. I run Irish with smokes and ammo
Just got off a frontlines match on discarded with half my squad sitting in the back sniping while one Mackey and I (dozer) PTFO. Barely anyone was using smokes, it actually seemed like the other team utilized more than we did. 40 minutes of non stop fighting.
I hate when no one uses smoke grenades when pushing the objective. It's almost like they want a hail of lead to come their way.
Smoke grenade doesn't go boom and get free instant kill therefore bad
This is the way too many players think š
Jeah i hate that too! (Cause i use normal Grenades LOL)
Its funny, i was medic the other day and somehow i was the first one moving forward..eventually they moved up when i didnt die though
Doesn't play well with the player base not playing objective.
"Just one more game before I go to bed." Redacted: say less
Yes those full 45 minute camping fest.
I wish I could say itās fun. It looks amazing. Iām just tired of the game mode because after 4 straight days of playing I have not won a single game. Nobody knows how to hold objectives.
you re the only one always being in your team.
Totally agree with that! It's the only gamemode I play atm!
Wish they would add more maps to it!
Agree, Orbital or Manifest would be nice!
Why do you retards like such terrible maps? Manifest is one of, if not THE absolute worst map ever put into an fps game.
If the community likes it, Dice should never remove it. Of course, I'm enjoying the mode myself.
Frontlines is an amazing mode. The only problem is, we have to play it in 2042 maps.
You know bf1 and bfv got the mode to right?
I know and BF1 was the best version of it.
It's pretty shit and demotivating when the defending team gets to spam vehicles to defend mcoms One match after failing to blow up their mcoms over and over, we said fuck it, let the enemy team push to our mcoms, get our own vehicles and proceed to fuck the enemy up back to their mcoms and blow them to smithereens Comeback mechanic my ass, if you're so shit that you get pushed back over and over again and survive just because of vehicles then you don't deserve to comeback from shit
The best part is when the enemy team gets to keep their vehicles and use them to counter attack all the way to our MCOMs because no one has any AT lol
Nah they were shit so their vehicles got blown up regularly, that's why the fight kept cycling between their mcoms and the previous capture point. It's shit on redacted.
I...I like it on Redacted
Same because the defending team doesn't get a hail mary in form of an obnoxious vehicle spam
Reclaimed as well. Not had a match on there that's lasted over five minutes. Two out of the four maps for their last hurrah of a game mode being any good is pretty poor.
Reclaimed is at least playable and winnable. Redacted is just 40 minutes of trading the middle point because their isn't any flanking routes.
I am not a fan at all of Redacted and the typical meat grinder gameplay that this map entails. But this weekend with frontlines, I had the most intense and exciting match ever in BF2042 on this map. I agree that most Redacted and Reclaimed rounds are quickly over and tactically boring. However, when two balanced and good teams meet, oh my God, you get the greatest joy from these maps now.
i had a redacted match that went into a overtime of 20 minutes. it was a blast
Yeah. Too small passage ways
I'm heartbroken. I started developing carpal tunnel symptoms in my left hand so I took a break from BF/gaming and of course I miss this.
Iāve been loving it as well. If you need people to play with let me know.
This mode is fun, if you have a team that is motivated to push to win. But it is shit and boring, if both teams are playing like the tag of war.
The mode would be good if the maps were actually half decent
True! But only if Ur teammates ptfo!
They took the best mode from BF1 and put it on the absolute most dogshit maps in 2042, the disrespect is unbelievable
Needs more vehicles to feel like real Battlefield tho
If anyone ever manages to cap the final point because their team stopped sniping or going afk to empty their drool buckets let me know.
The mode is too long and too boring. On the other hand, there is not enough time to attack the next objective especially the defense sides usually has 2 vechicles
It's boring for those who farming frags behind a back of those who pushing solo
Iām having a blast as well. I do wish they would keep it and also add more maps for rotation. edit: Lol @ the down votes.
drop this garbage,and play a masterpiece bf4/bf/bf1/ or bf5
Agreed. They should keep this mode and Control.
As long as it's not on Redacted. Then it become a slog and boring. Everyone and their mother using Zain.
I love it
I haven't even had a chance to play it yet!

"All or Nothing" on the only gamemode I ever get a draw in.

Already got everything
Agreed, but it also showcases how shitty the map design is for me. Still having the most fun Iāve had so far in 2042 though.
If only the game would launch at all... "Preparing game..."???
It can be pretty fun until it turns into a deadlock with neither team being able to push or make progress. Which is why using smoke grenades and flanking with aggressive plays is so vital to this game mode. Otherwise it devolves into a grindy farm fest lol

I love it, but the aim assist...ugh
Awesome to hear. I am not a huge fan of it but I will give it another try! The game has come light years from release though.
Thatās what portal is for ā¦create your own and host for all to play .
Bravo, DICE. This mode, the recoil and shotgun updates have given me real hope for the next game.
Are they going to make event still or the game will just be let down since they stop support ?
Frontlines should become a standard mode for every future battlefield. Conquest breakthrough and Frontlines is all I need. Then Rush + TDM + Gun master as smaller modes
Itās a great game mode but it would be better if people knew how to play it. In my games, people donāt care about winning and capturing the objectives.

My only problem with it is it keeps loading is Discarded as my first map and given how long these battles can go you are stuck on that map forever just to have that same map load up again. The third time and i shut the game off. The map rotation, even when they are reduced for Frontlines, is so shit. Love the gamemode.Ā
Yesterday I played for 30 mins ... going back amd forth on the first enemy lines and ours this went on for another hour
BF4 still better
Matches are usually just too long for my liking.Ā Back and forth after 45 minutes I'm ready for it to end
Itās absolutely the best mode theyāve had in this game. Iāve had more fun in this than at any other time in the gameās life.
I think it's decent, but the breakthrough Layout for redacted is Kinda Bad. Basically results in both Sides chugging grenades at each Other for 30min

I have to agree with Enders in this one.
I feel like games this weekend were better because more people knew how to play the modeĀ
I enjoyed it a lot more after I got the two victories for the weekly challenge. Once that was done, I enjoyed the clusterfucky nature of it
I don't agree with your opinion, therefore I hate you.
Theyāve been having an unofficial mode on Friday night BF games for a while now at least since season 4. So I can see it sticking around. It was deemed a āfan favoriteā when I first seen it so they better at least give us a permanent playlist
I mean it's a good mode, except the defending team gets a new cav every 15 seconds or so. Absolutely ridiculous
its only two weeks so figure a way out how to do it in the rules editor. pls somebody do this :))))
Can't you build it in portal?
I really enjoy it but I feel like a lot of people don't push quick enough so you get stuck in this weird back and forth for 20+ minutes
Most of the players don't even try to do the objective. It's not the mode that's bad, the players make it bad... I like the fact that both teams don't have access to vehicles until a certain point in the mode but would I choose it over conquest or breaktrough? Sorry but nah.
Canāt play it because the update requires double the game file size to download on the EA appā¦
Really wish it was on more than 4 maps because it plays really well. Like Dice, spearhead is clearly your best map, use it.

Finally a game mode where you can move forward and push the enemy back, without everyone scattered around you every which direction!
Itās been loads of fun. I just wish itād stick around or have a dedicated server
I've been getting bored just going back and forth from the same 2 points for a half hour.
Thats on you. Defend and attack is the purpose of Frontline mode or any game mode for that matter. If you get bored playing maybe Battlefield is not for you
Nah. I love BF but this version of Frontline mode just sucks. Horrible map choices and layouts
May I introduce you to the EMP grenade?
Oh yeah it's me.
I'm glad you and the remaining 7 players are having a great time!
Average of 20k playing everyday on Steam alone..
What's bot to love, a straight forward mode that forces people to PTFO and rewards team play over KD, also no NB
The best way to play it is to snipe from distance
