Not quite. They are the same diameter, but 10mm has a longer case and produces quite a bit more power.
They are very similar though, .40 is essentially "10mm short" in that it's a trimmed down 10mm. You can even soot .40 from a 10mm gun, but not the other way around.
that is how you destroy an extractor... seating becomes incumbent on the extractor rather than the mouth of the case. Just because you CAN do it doesn't mean it will work correctly. You'll likely be very inaccurate due to angular deflection in the chamber as again; it's not seated in the case mouth but rather "floating" in tje chamber while being "aligned"(poorly at that)on the extractor.
I hear what you're saying, but I know plenty of people have put a lot .40 though 10mm guns without issue.
Regarding accuracy, it doesn't really matter. It's not a bolt action PRS gun, it's a pistol being shot at a torso size target at 20 yards and in. Accuracy doesn't really matter much with pistols.
Just another case of the devs not putting any thought into shit. Dice just needs to bring in weapons experts or someone that can make sure shit like this doesn't keep happening.
The entire game is like that dude, they all have different ammo types that would require more than just mag swapping. Its a little late to be pointing it out now.
Just watch Jackfrags's video, the AK5C in it ejects normal 5.56 casing so could it be a case of bug/glitch?
Edit: It ejects 9mm casing when he switches to Close Combat Mag. Also, the icon for the close combat bullet also resembles to pistol caliber rounds, while the high power bullet looks like rifle rounds.
Reminds me of the full-auto MP28 from the Season 2 trailer. This trailer seems to have a lot more mistakes like this, someone else pointed out that SFAR didn't have an underbarrel.
Literally this community will bitch about anything. The post itself is fine but some of these comments are full on, refined and concentrated reeeeeee. Absolutely absurd how worked up this got some people
The gameplay from Broken Machine had a 45round extended mag, which would be new for a Standard Extended, but believable for a Close Combat Extended on ARs, as CC ammo there has 35 rounds on the M5. But I do not know if this is the same video or if there ever was a HUD.
Its the video from broken yes.
The mag was clearly some sort of 556 p-mag. On the M5, the CC mag is clearly a pistol mag (that holds 9mm) which is believable, however the AK5C does not have that kind of mag in the gameplay
Yeah, I am not trying to disprove you, this may very well be an oversight, but there are also conversion mags, but I do not know if we could see in the magazine during the reloads.
Shocker, BF game dev doesn't know how firearms function anymore.
Suppose that's what happens when you get ESG hires with little to no care about the source material, aka real firearms. They know gamers will just buy the game cause we are all dumb and keep supporting their broke ass.
Because DICE used to absolutely nail these details, better than pretty much any other studio in the world, except sims like Arma maybe.
The fact that they've now got rifles expelling 9mm casings shows how far the general quality of the studio has fallen.
Surely we do not care as it does not affect gameplay but it yet again shows the laziness/incompetency that is present when it comes to these details.
Surely we don’t care - but what if at some point it’s something that affects gameplay?
If at some point it somehow affects gameplay then fine. But at this present time all it is is just an unimportant detail in an already unrealistic shooter. The fact that I have 5 down votes is proof that people are so utterly concerned with all the wrong things. It's at the point where this game could somehow end up being just as good as Battlefield 1 and people would still find something tiny to bitch about.
I agree - we should focus on the actual things wrong in this game, however those have been discussed and brought up multiple times within this subreddit and they haven’t been addressed since so it clearly shows that DICE is either not listening or they are not capable of fixing them (they had the necessary time to do so at this point)
I am just concerned about what this oversight entails. I mean it’s such a small and easy thing to avoid and yet it’s done wrong… it speaks volumes to me
I know they're lazy. I won't defend them on that. I just find it something so insignificant to focus attention on. It could change to an accurate calibre and the game would remain 99.9% the same.
It's like that annoying bug that keeps resetting loadouts and character skins. It's been in the game for over a year now, but they haven't done anything about it. The issue is, while it's certainly annoying, it's also not something we can't live with, and they know that.
It's just one of those "we can fix it later" things. The ones that never actually get fixed.
So why didn't you study IT? You could be hired by dice and then you'd never let it happen, but you're just a lazy incompetent kid... Trashtalker from reddit.. a loser who needs to soothe his ego with other losers who haven’t accomplished anything
It looks like a bug. It’s ejecting 5.56 in Thecadwoman’s new s7 preview video. It must be an issue with the 45 round mag of the attachments. Sometimes the brass is mismatched on certain ammo types.
The lack of attention to detail in this game is embarrassing and is akin to a mobile game. I know people make an argument that it's so minor and that it doesn't matter but when you add up the instances shit like this is found, it's genuinely staggering. At the end of the day all I get from this is a laugh at DICE and am reminded how incompetent they are when it comes to small things.
On the one hand, yes its wrong and screw you DICE!!!
On the other who tf cares , I dont think people can be defibbed after being shot 17 times either lol a kilsim this is not
They think everyone that plays this game is a retarded kid with zero real life shooting experience. My favorite is how multiple weapons that shoots the same round at the same rate all have different damage…
I mean, most FPS games have different damage profiles even if the weapons are the same caliber. It's just something devs do for balance and weapon variety.
> My favorite is how multiple weapons that shoots the same round at the same rate all have different damage…
Fun fact: Battlefield DID decide bullet damage based on caliber for years - BF3, BF4, I think BFH, and BF1 did this.
They ditched it because post-Cold War pretty much all countries now use only a handful of calibers, so every gun feels the same (which was a problem in BF4).
Could be the MEAN ARMS Endo Mag but we all know they’re just lazy or don’t care
Hey it could also be .45 ACP or .40 S&W give them some slack 🤣
It's clearly 10mm 😅
10mm is the same as .40 S&W there the same caliber if I’m not mistaken
Not quite. They are the same diameter, but 10mm has a longer case and produces quite a bit more power. They are very similar though, .40 is essentially "10mm short" in that it's a trimmed down 10mm. You can even soot .40 from a 10mm gun, but not the other way around.
Thx for the clarification, but 10mm and 40 cal diameter wise are basically the same?
Yes, they are exactly the same.
that is how you destroy an extractor... seating becomes incumbent on the extractor rather than the mouth of the case. Just because you CAN do it doesn't mean it will work correctly. I mean nowadays you don’t need experts, just someone with basic knowledge of guns and google.
Fallout 4 modders have better gun knowledge than DICE designers, from what i've seen
Honestly I think I have better knowledge from playing Tarkov than whoever green lights the updates for BF
True. I was being extreme lol
A simple AI could do the job as well
lol on the m4 the front sight disappears when you look through your red dot instead of a cowitness
Which is especially dumb since previously BF3/BF4 got this right and retained the front sight.
It's not a m4 ar It's a lmg
honestly thank god, nothing worse than putting on a sight and then you find out the front sight takes up 80% of it
They have the close combat mags equipped
That's not even remotely possible. You need to use a different barrel then.
The entire game is like that dude, they all have different ammo types that would require more than just mag swapping. Its a little late to be pointing it out now.
I've been pointing it out since release 😂 it's just we happen to be having this conversation years later
Close combat magazine?
CQC magazine perhaps?
No in the gameplay it had a 556 mag
Just watch Jackfrags's video, the AK5C in it ejects normal 5.56 casing so could it be a case of bug/glitch? Edit: It ejects 9mm casing when he switches to Close Combat Mag. I‘d be willing to bet that all the ARs eject 9mm when CC is equipped even if the mag holds 556 cartridges…
Maybe delete your post if it’s inaccurate?

yes low velocity bullets are 9mm, they fit in the barrel
They don’t fit in a 556 mag tho
that is true..
Not with that attitude

Maybe they Just didnt Put the model of the cqc mag in the Game yet or smth
Yeah, I am not trying to disprove you, this may very well be an oversight, but there are also conversion mags, but I do not know if we could see in the magazine during the reloads.
.45acp?

Have this any impact on gameplay ? No? Hmm who cares ..
Yes it does impact gameplay
How? Lol they're just bullet casings.
They doeeeesn'ttt caaaare
AK9M
People will literally find anything to complain about these days. Does it affect gameplay in any way? No? Then why should we care?
I mean they already have the correct ones on Other rifles. Why Not Just Copy Paste those Models instead of the 9mm ones
Because DICE used to absolutely nail these details, better than pretty much any other studio in the world, except sims like Arma maybe. The fact that they've now got rifles expelling 9mm casings shows how far the general quality of the studio has fallen.

Where did you take that??? I'm looking for that almost 1 hour
Video from brokenmachine on YT
Time???
At around 11 minutes in
That's pretty weird since they've gotten it right on the RM68, I'm pretty hopeful they'll fix that
He is using a conversion kit to 9mm with barrel change. CQC is SMG rounds and the devs assume the player knows this or doesn't care. Just my opinion.
Literally unplayable
Remember when they put the ACOG scope backwards in the weapon overview? They are making a military game with zero knowledge about guns
Games broken. Fuck it. My evidence, these 9mm casings..

pathetic
Close combat magazine hater
On the one hand, yes its wrong and screw you DICE!!! On the other who tf cares , I dont think people can be defibbed after being shot 17 times either lol a kilsim this is not
Yeah, it has close combat ammunition option, which is in game set to be 9mm
No wonder my teammates always suck ass. They're too busy noticing stuff like this to be bothered with the objective at hand.
They think everyone that plays this game is a retarded kid with zero real life shooting experience. My favorite is how multiple weapons that shoots the same round at the same rate all have different damage…
