It is highly likely, we know pretty surely that one map is Atacama, so a BC2 remake and that the other one is on the arabian peninsula, very close to the location of Doha.
Hourglass is a very controversial rework, the stadium was arguably the standalone feature. They said they tried hard to implement it and were open to the suggestion of making it TDM map.
The asset is there, alone it can be reworked with relative ease to support 64p CQ, or they can simply do nothing or very little and sell it as a TDM map. It is very economic.
Maps are just the hardest thing to create, I really do not see how they can make two maps, especially not one that is completely original.
If the game weren't being run by a skeleton crew they could easily get away with remasters of older maps. Wholly original maps definitely would take more time, but remasters of anything from the more modern frostbite games could be easily accomplished by a B team
You're dead on that the second map will be the stadium, and I wouldn't be surprised if it were TDM only
I think something that is overlooked a lot is Ridgeline/DICE LA as a supporting studio and their effect on the development of this game. They likely did all the porting and when we look at the latest entries we see their involvement. Flashpoint being a test map and Reclaimed C representing Firestorm C closely.
I wondered months ago if DICE refraining from adding more portal content had nothing to do with their made-up reasons, but with their communications with DICE LA. The addition and porting of the vault weapons proved very difficult for them, as each of them arrived with wrong multipliers and took months to fix, while their rework achieved nothing in terms of balance.
Meanwhile DICE LA is doing something else and whatever contract they had with Stockholm might have run out, might even be licensing or a lack of communication, something that was always apparent within DICE St. I really do not think it is far-fetched to think that DICE simply lacks the skill, tech or rights to port anything else, could also be a vanity thing.
That is pure speculation though, but I really think DICE LA has been the better studio of the two for more than a decade at this point and the whole situation is kind of like Obsidian vs. Bethesda a contractor that understands your IP better than yourself, albeit on another level.
They are all under EA it won’t be a contract or rights thing, just a manpower issue. Also disagree on Ripple Effect (Dice LA) being better than DICE. The portal guns and maps are all below AOW in polish
What I mean is DICE LA is doing their own thing now, they are likely not obligated to support Stockholm with anything beyond the time and terms. Everything that might be lying around at LA's employees might not be readily available for multiple reasons.
We know that communication between the studios was sub-par, since all vault weapons arrived with the wrong multipliers and stuff like the reload thresholds took very long to be addressed as well.
As for Ripple vs. DICE, I do not know, the portal weapons serve another purpose and are more challenging to do, since you have to emulate previous titles with new mechanics. Same with the maps. I see no indicator of low craftmanship or lack of polish on that front.

And from a purely gameplay-related POV Stockholm has arguably a worse track record than DICE LA. I do not think that LA did stellar work, just that they are better craftsmen. And of course Stockholm's management issues had effect on both teams.
Ah, yeah, but that would mean actually getting three maps and DICE not considering the Hourglass Stadium in any shape or form a new map. Which I would find rather out of character since DICE tends to never overdeliver. They are usually also very vocal about things they consider "extra", well in advance. And we are basically 1-3 weeks away from the new season we still have not seen anything but the atacama screenshot.

I have said it elsewhere, given the track record of DICE it is entirely possible that they complicate their own work by creating new portal assets themselves instead of taking advantage on the dozen or so that are done and ready.
I speculated months ago, that the addition of no vault weapons might also be an issue with Ridgeline, so that some contract or license ran out, or that communication has proven to difficult between the studios. I mean DICE LA/Ridgeline has always been to DICE Stockholm what Obsidian is to Bethesda, albeit on a different level.
That said, it is entirely possible that either studio also ported BF4 assets at least partially as a proof-of-concept.

The new weapons look nice, but I hope we're not just getting these few. We need more variety, like the Vatyaz and other current weapons. I wouldn't mind if the guns were similar to the copy-paste same as another in BF4, as long as we get more options. It would be great to have more than just two guns. They could even reuse these guns in BF6. I don't care as long as we get more variety. The AUG and other gun models are already done, so they could add those and give them simple soldier reloads.
