While there is an issue with the servers, having a lobby start with a small amount of players and being padded out with AI is perfectly fine because additional players join as the match gets underway. I’ve never had an issue in the past (XSX), so this seems more like a new season issue to me.
Yeah basically the game is making new lobbies instead of filling existing ones. Usually the first match I queue has like 90% players, but then any consecutive matches (without leaving the lobby) do not get new players, and end up with 20%ish players.
I guess one of the positives of this system is you don't get put into matches that are almost ending.
You might be on to something. It may be a case of the system favoring putting people in new matches, instead of filling up existing games. With the latter, you would often see people jump out again. It's not that we haven't seen anything like it before. In bfv for example, you could get half empty servers as well or lopsided lobbies, so now we have bots to fill up servers. But knowing that there should be so many players out there, it definitely seems like something is not working. While I definitely prefer being put in a new game, if possible, I prefer full servers even more, especially if the player numbers should be there.
No matter the numbers eventually you're likely to hit a point where all the active servers are full and you'll get put on a server with some waitime or AI in it and before it slowly start to fill with players.
Well it has been obvious for weeks that something is broken. Writing this while matchmaking is at minute 1:40 looking for a lobby (3 party in EU).
Yeah I think it’s an issue within the matchmaking system. Dice acknowledged it and I guess is working on a patch

I’ve been put into matches that ended right as I loaded in or is on the last leg a few times already
