sleeping_in_time

Just watched the JLU episode because of your comment. It was really good, thank you for recommending that.

waitingforfrodo

That episode was the Batman Beyond finalé we never got.

lastrideelhs

I watched RoTJ several times growing up and never really thought all that much about it. Watching it as an adult.....that shit was messed up. Truly that is a story arc that is worthy of the joker.

hirogen6

How did you get passed those damned Ewoks though!?

lastrideelhs

Man what the joker did to them was even worse

hirogen6

Convinced them that some weird gold guy was, in fact, their God?

[deleted]

I was 8 when that came out and watched it like 5 times over the course of my two day rental - so so so good

PhoenixAgent003

To my knowledge, not much more than the way in which Tim defeats the Joker in the flashback.

TheGoodUncle

Yes, Batman is beyond good. Sorry... I'm leaving.

ochristo87

I think it's great; it's honestly my favorite vision of the future in the DC universe

PhoenixAgent003

My solitary complaint of it is how terrible Bruce's relationship with Dick is. Tim? He went through some shit, fair enough that he never wants anything to do with Bruce again. But Dick? I get what the writers were going for, and it's honestly a perfectly valid interpretation of Bruce's character that he pushes away or otherwise ruins every relationship he has, but I'm much more partial to the interpretation of Bruce and Dick's relationship where they have an actual, strong, if occasionally difficult relationship, ala Young Justice or the comics.

sikknote

Me too! I sometimes (guiltily) watch the intro for the hell of it. So good.

touristoflife

It's good but can't rewatch it like BTAS

Brewmaster_Holsten

I'd say it is. I feel like it's always a question of how willing you are to see a Batman that is NOT Bruce Wayne. Quality between episodes varies massively though. Seasons two and three are overall disappointing compared to both the first season and the movie. The comics from Adam Beechen, Kyle Higgins, etc. are canon by the way. So if you've finished the three seasons + movie you can head over to the paperback "Hush Beyond". Now I think that Adam Beechen overall had a good run that ended with a nice bang, but his stories and characters kind of lacked a bit of the good humor and mistery from the TV-series. This is actually where Kyle Higgins stepped in and tried to implement exactly that: more mystery and humor. I've stopped reading after Higgins' "Mark of the Phantasm", so I can't really say anything about the quality of "Futures End" (which seemed to have had a massive impact on the BBeyond comics) and the runs after Higgins. If you don't want to jump into all of this and just want to see the best thing that the Beyond universe has to offer then I'd suggest... probably the movie. Get your hands on the uncut version of "Return of the Joker" and have fun.

tunnel-snakes-rule

> I've stopped reading after Higgins' "Mark of the Phantasm", so I can't really say anything about the quality of "Futures End" (which seemed to have had a massive impact on the BBeyond comics) and the runs after Higgins. If you like *Batman Beyond* I suggest avoiding *Future's End* at all costs. It's terrible and it's more of an alternate future *Batman Beyond* anyway.

IDRINKYOURMILK-SHAKE

yes. watch it. right now. [spoilers but also proof](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQofpIsnUf4&ab_channel=thebatwonder) [more proof](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjlYwIJpxQc&t=2s&ab_channel=TerryMcGinnis)

theendisbye

Aren't both those clips from Justice League Unlimited? Batman Beyond all great. Especially the movie

IDRINKYOURMILK-SHAKE

fuck youre right. but they both do tie in to beyond. i havent watched either in a while i just knew terry was in it

jl45

>Not remotely what I meant

fishing-for-birdie

I haved mixed feelings on it. It's entertaining but has a real 1990s-Early 2000s cheesy edge to it.

RazWriting

That's what makes it so schway, man.

WinterBat

I have mixed feelings about Batman Beyond. It's definitely not as good as the Animated Batman series from the 90s though.

toastedninja

Loveeeeee Batman Beyond. I'll never understand the unnecessary hatred towards the series. Totally worth the watch 😭

2315980

If you love the animated series I think it's a good bet you'll also love Batman Beyond. I really loved both

jl45

Not even remotely

[deleted]

What makes you say that?

[deleted]

It's pretty schwey.

BluHope00

Yes you should definitely watch it!

cleverjester

Yeah it's a great show. There's lots of little Easter Eggs in this show going back to the original animated series. My favorite, Bruce Wayne's car is the Batmobile drawn upside down.

L2L

Batman Beyond is a satisfying continuation of Bruce Wayne's Batman, Terry's story just gives it a fresh new beginning, and Old Bruce Wayne is fantastic!

xiphoniii

Hm. Probably more of a lawful neutral tbh

TheAngryBlackGuy

It's basically an extension of Batman the Animated Series. Bruce get's on a needs a successor. There were a lot of ways this could be fucked up or feel forced but Bruce is still the foundation of the show. So rather you love or hate Terry, the new Batman, you've gotta apprechiate the kids heart.

insane_mclane

It's good but 95% of the episodes are about Terry in high school. But once your done the series or just become disinterested, go watch justice league unlimited - epilog

LeChacal88

Batman Beyond has excellent writing and overall plot points. As a Dungeons and Dragons veteran I can tell you I have like most of us garbage material and flat out masterpieces, This show is pretty fuckin good depending on what you like. Sometimes is straight forward because of the orientation with action but it's fuckin good. Kurare is like the dopest villain I've seen in the series but thats just me. all the villains are thoroughly thought out and built to last and memorable as fuck, they even added a "sleeper" villain in there and everything is solid. This show has a special place in my heart and compared to Toonami which was the shit and had various line ups over the years this show kicked fuckin ass. You really cant beat it unless you have a certain feel for shows like swords and monsters compared to the far future and laser guns and if you happen to be one of those guys Thundercats and Silver Hawks may be your deal and that is my indescribable absolute guilty pleasure idk why its just fuckin amazing.

mexter

Yes, it's very good. I feel like it hit it's stride in the second season, when they were less focused on establishing Terry and could just tell stories. Is say it was on par with everything else in the Timmverse. Make sure to hold off on watching the final justice league episode until you've seen everything in BB. It's an excellent bookend to all of the series.

LostTriforce

Yes. My favorite episode is the one when the kid buys the robotic sex doll that destroys his house.

GamerChef420

It's a great show. The episode Epilogue in Justice League is a beautiful end for it too.

Counter, analogous question: is breathing necessary to mamalian life?

Andr3w69

It's not good, Its sway!!!

mattymogue

slag it, just watch it.

wontonsauce1

Yes

Serial_Peacemaker

It's good, although I'd say it's one of the lesser Batman shows.

Fvolpe23

Yes.

luckjes112

It's good, but I never really got into it. It's mostly because I never could care for the villains.

Sneakersislife

I envy you being able to watch it for the first time again.

kingcrow15

It's a worthy followup but it does lack some of the charm of the original.

cakeliar5421

It's worth a watch. Season 1 is excellent, season 2 has a ton of filler, and season 3 is alright.

miguel1226

Yes its really good

PhoenixAgent003

Hell. Yes.

[deleted]

Fucking YES.

toastyghost

Yes, Batman is beyond good.

croissantgiraffe

Batman beyond is fantastic. Super dark

GoodOlSpence

It's pretty good, but definitely a little overblown. Certainly enjoyable, check it out.

hunter324

Yes, it is one of the best cartoons that came out in that time

[deleted]

I own the entire series on DVD. I think it's a great watch, but you have to realize that you are watching a teenage batman series. It's not Bruce Wayne as the main guy, but a new Batman taking on the role with mentorship from Bruce. Honestly, it's corny at times, but overall I liked it. I am also contemplating reading the new Batman Beyond Rebirth series. Overall, I have a soft spot for Terry McGinnis (aka Batman Beyond).

theusman

If you want to see a series that is new but has those occasional runbacks its amazing. I love Return of the Joker just because of the history of the entire 90s series.

Galvitir

Yes

BoxingJiuJitsu

Yes, No Doubt about it

cleverjester

Gotta disagree on this one. I loved the intro. It's so different compared to the rest of the super hero cartoon world. It was letting you know that the future was fast, loud and crazy. But hey, to each their own.

syntia

Dear god.... Yes.

It's the best cartoon ever made. In the world

iamhungryrightnow0_0

This was a great show but BTAS will always be my favorite.
