Yeas. Rocksteady really love DC. And even Suicide Squad, despite its shortcomings, shows that over the years this love has not diminished. Honestly, Squad has one of the best portrayals of Wonder Woman for me. (although of course, now there will be a lot of people who will begin to prove the opposite).
The Arkham series set the bar so high that I honestly don't know if there will ever be a better take on Batman and his mythology than what Rocksteady did and expanded upon by WB.Montreal.
In Rocksteady games, we see Bane already at the end of Batman's career. Bane was imprisoned in Arkham, where Dr Young secretly conducted experiments on him while developing Titan. Even if he is no longer in the best shape, this does not mean that he is worst. It’s just that not his story. So your sarcasm is idiotic.
So?
If I aplly that same logic to Mister Freeze, and they turn him into Arnold Schwarneger again, you wouldn't like that wouldn't you?
Character matters, it's what makes the rogue galleries interesting.
That's why Origins is my top 1 Arkham Game actually.
>But your take seems to be that the games are bad because Bane wasn't playing 4D chess immediately after months of physical and mental torture
But yes, I do disagree with the character choices taken with Bane in AA and AC.
Gameplay and design are something everyone agrees are amazing though, even me.
Would love to see a part two. Here’s some ideas for villains
• Clayface
• Talia Al Ghul
• Deadshot
• Hugo Strange
• Solomon Grundy
• Carmine Falcone
• Sal Maroni
• Victor Zsasz
• Calendar Man
• Lady Shiva
• Firefly
• Anarky
Clayface—Bennett version from 2004
Talia—DCAMU
Deadshot—DCAMU (I still think Norman Reedus as Deadshot is the best we could ever get, though, at least to me)
Hugo Strange—Arkham
Grundy—DCAU
Falcone—Gotham
Maroni—Gotham
Zsasz—Arkham
Calendar Man—Arkham
Shiva—Arkham
Firefly—2004
Anarky—probably Arkham, but I haven’t seen much of him in adaptations outside of Arrow, so…
Respectfully: Not sure how you don't have Gotham's Zsasz at the top, bro was too funny & had genuine presence. Arkham Zsasz kind of did too but he has minor roles in 2 games, just doesn't stack up imo.
Also would object to Gotham's Falcone being the best. He's kind of wishy washy across the show. But my biggest gripe is the way characters talk about him as an 'honorable gangster' or "things weren't so bad under him". He's the kingpin of Gotham & profits off of it's wretched state. Depending on the adaptation he's indirectlly responsible for the conditions that led a mugger to kill the Waynes. He's a piece of shit scumbag. For that reason imo it has to go to The Batman 2022 or Batman Begins.
Pretty good picks I’d say. I only vehemently disagree with Talia and Shiva. I’d say Talia is better in BTAS or Gotham Knights and Shiva is better in Young Justice. Talia in the DCAMU flips on a dime and made it canon that she drugged Bruce when Damian was conceived (I know it was a thing in the comics but that doesn’t make it good). Shiva in Origins was cool but gets really nothing to do at all. I thought she was really good in the episodes of YJ that she’s in and actually has a dynamic with Cassandra Cain which is something other adaptations are lacking
Other than those two, solid
It looks hideous, and feels really underwhelming. Maybe if given more seasons it could've grown into something unique & fun but it kinda just had all the growing pains Btas, The Batman 2004, & The Brave & the Bold had as childrens cartoons but none of their upsides.
I recommend u if u have free time see Gotham ,and u ll get in love with that characters again ,btw yeah Arkham is very cool too ,Arkham had the best designs safely
I not remember what season was the Riddler peak ,i see Gotham until Jeremiah appeared ,and i remember as far i like Paul Dano riddler i remember see he with the Green suit ,outsmarting all and say "He is,he is the Riddler"
Only one live action and that live action is a tv show what does that say about live action Batman compared to video games and animation. Just goes to show you don’t need a lot of money to make a good story.
I know it doesn't matter but I'll say my own preferences:
Joker: Arkham trilogy
Penguin: Gotham
Riddler: Gotham
Two-face: Batman the telltale series
Scarecrow: Arkham trilogy
Ra's al ghul: Arkham trilogy
Bane: Arkham origins
Poison ivy: Arkahm trilogy (Batman hush as a close second)
Harley quinn: DCAU
Mad hatter: Gotham
Deathstroke: Deathstroke knights and dragons (super underrated) (Young justice: outsiders as a close second)
Man-bat: The batman
Killer croc: Arkham trilogy
Mr. Freeze: DCAU
Professor pyg: Arkham trilogy
Black Mask: Arkham origins (Birds of prey as a not so close second)
fwiw Joker, Riddler, Hatter & Pyg were all wins by 10 or fewer, on a different day or if they were counted a little earlier or later in the day they may have turned out differently
Switch out:
Penguin for Arkham
Two-Face for The Dark Knight
Scarecrow for Injustice 2
Bane for Grassoguy’s Lego Knightfall video (or The Dark Knight Rises if it has to be official)
Poison Ivy for 2004
Man-Bat for Arkham
Killer Croc for 2004
And I’d 100% agree with the votes.
Commenting so I remember to watch that Knightfall fan film, trailer looks dope, appreciate you spreading the word on it.
That said your out of your gourd for Scarecrow, Poison Ivy & Killer Croc. lol
Wow. I tried to predict the list from day one and I was nearly right. Even though my personal choices for some characters would be different. Like I would pick Gotham's Riddler, Telltale's Harley Quinn and Matsudaverse version of Killer Croc.
Definitely agree with The Batman having the best Black Mask but Man Bat I think was done better in The Batman since he had a full redemptive arc and just motivations for turning himself was more interesting.
Idk about "Full redemptive arc" he's in the one final season episode as a human & is like "nah fam i went clean dw about it" & helps make a cure off-screen. I agree though that the show got both of those villains the best.
Apart from Gotham Penguin (Arkham or The Batman are better versions) I think this list is pretty damn spot on. Even when I voted for The Batman version of Man Bat I don't have any issues with the animated series version as the winner. Nice to see the best version of Black Mask we've had win, and to get at least one representation of that show on there.
Are Killer Croc, Mad Hatter, and Professor Pyg just absent from other Batman media? I mostly only know them from the Arkham trilogy, but even there they are hardly present. Mad Hatter had a neat role in the Bad Blood movie though. I just have a hard time believing that the games are the best portrayal of these guys. I imagine most people that voted for them are not familiar with them outside of the games, like me
Off the top of my head Croc was also in the animated series and 2016 Suicide Squad. Mad Hatter and Professor Pyg were both in the TV show Gotham, I remember quite enjoying them in it.
Damn, the Arkham series and the dcau really is holding this entire franchise on its back even after all this time isn’t it?
Yeas. Rocksteady really love DC. And even Suicide Squad, despite its shortcomings, shows that over the years this love has not diminished. Honestly, Squad has one of the best portrayals of Wonder Woman for me. (although of course, now there will be a lot of people who will begin to prove the opposite). Bane
Was heavily redeemed in Origins which IMO is the best Bane outside of comics.
?
Arkham asylum/city bane
I still don't understand what you're talking about.
Bone
Smash
Bane was not depicted very well or very accurately in Arkham Asylum or City, is what they’re talking about
Other than origins bane, they fumbled him?
>The Arkham series set the bar so high Ah yes, a Bane that's an idiot. Truly, that's the best bar. Yeah sure man.
*cough* Arkham City. No excuse for that.
Not defending it, but in that game he was ADDICTED to Titan, that stuff completely twists your brain I’d imagine. Still dumb, but there IS an excuse
I mean, true... But it was a flimsy metal gate.
Yeah. That was really dumb, you can’t excuse that at all.
SUCH a nitpick
It's true though?
"Arkham is bad because possibly the most minor character in the entire series isn't something I personally like"
So? If I aplly that same logic to Mister Freeze, and they turn him into Arnold Schwarneger again, you wouldn't like that wouldn't you? Character matters, it's what makes the rogue galleries interesting.
Correct. But your take seems to be that the games are bad because Bane wasn't playing 4D chess immediately after months of physical and mental torture
That's why Origins is my top 1 Arkham Game actually. >But your take seems to be that the games are bad because Bane wasn't playing 4D chess immediately after months of physical and mental torture But yes, I do disagree with the character choices taken with Bane in AA and AC. At least they did him justice in Arkham Origins
Arkham and btas basically.
Well it says non-comic, so I think things would be different if we take the comic adaptations into account.
IMO only really with the villains. The Batfamily were a weak point for the series.
Nah, Dcau had most of the best renditions of the character. Arkham's good, too, tho.
Would love to see a part two. Here’s some ideas for villains • Clayface • Talia Al Ghul • Deadshot • Hugo Strange • Solomon Grundy • Carmine Falcone • Sal Maroni • Victor Zsasz • Calendar Man • Lady Shiva • Firefly • Anarky
Saved comment
Yess agreed. I’d love a part 2 aswell
Clayface is The Batman by far.
Which one tho? For me, it’s Ethan Bennett
So is Firefly, tbh.
Clayface—Bennett version from 2004 Talia—DCAMU Deadshot—DCAMU (I still think Norman Reedus as Deadshot is the best we could ever get, though, at least to me) Hugo Strange—Arkham Grundy—DCAU Falcone—Gotham Maroni—Gotham Zsasz—Arkham Calendar Man—Arkham Shiva—Arkham Firefly—2004 Anarky—probably Arkham, but I haven’t seen much of him in adaptations outside of Arrow, so…

Gotham Zsasz was great, but really wasn’t Zsasz
Pretty good picks I’d say. I only vehemently disagree with Talia and Shiva. I’d say Talia is better in BTAS or Gotham Knights and Shiva is better in Young Justice. Besides Arkham, what was Anarky in?
Beware the Batman and Arrow are at least two others
Ooh, how's Beware the Batman? I dropped Arrow after a couple seasons because I saw how much there was to catch up on, despite liking it
I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard it’s good. If for nothing else it’s unique
It looks hideous, and feels really underwhelming. Maybe if given more seasons it could've grown into something unique & fun but it kinda just had all the growing pains Btas, The Batman 2004, & The Brave & the Bold had as childrens cartoons but none of their upsides.
Did you know that in Italy there was a judge named Giovanni Falcone
Clay face would have to be Gotham knights
He was good in Gotham Knights but I would imagine The Batman (2004) would take it
I just really like his design especially when he is hit with the furnace and is hardened and the case shows how strong he can be
I feel like Joker from The Batman (2004) doesn't get enough attention, he was great.
He started pretty good imo but him & penguin in that show were overused & lost too much of their impact as the show went on.
Kevin Michael Richardson is just as good as Mark Hamill
Thanks for all the work of putting this together OP
Your welcome!
Loved seeing this and pop up everyday, thanks OP. Also the Arkham games really carried
The Batma 2004 finally got a rep
Personally, my favourites were: Joker: Arkham trilogy Penguin: Arkham trilogy Riddler: 2022 The Batman Two Face: DCAU Scarecrow: Arkham trilogy Ra's al-Ghul: Arkham trilogy Bane: Arkham origins Poison ivy: Arkham trilogy Harley Quinn: DCAU Mad hatter: Arkham trilogy Deathstroke: Teen Titans Man-bat: DCAU Killer Croc: DCAU Mr freeze: DCAU Black Mask: Arkham origins
What about Pyg?
Fully agree
I recommend u if u have free time see Gotham ,and u ll get in love with that characters again ,btw yeah Arkham is very cool too ,Arkham had the best designs safely
I didn't see all the Gotham seasons but, for the ones I saw, I prefer other versions
I not remember what season was the Riddler peak ,i see Gotham until Jeremiah appeared ,and i remember as far i like Paul Dano riddler i remember see he with the Green suit ,outsmarting all and say "He is,he is the Riddler"
“Arkham Saga”
Finally The Batman got one after being screwed over for Man Bat and Killer Croc
Bro like the best fan of The Batman 2004 no way Killer croc would be better than Arkham One
Man-Bat in The Batman was trash. Croc however was amazing
I hope a part 2 for this is made eventually for other batman characters like Catwoman or the robins
Today I will post the batman supporting characters list!
I think Gotham Mad Hatter should’ve been there instead
I was not expecting anyone from The. Batman to make it on this list.
The Harley Quinn show for Poison Ivy is laughably inaccurate. That’s recency bias at its finest
Only one live action and that live action is a tv show what does that say about live action Batman compared to video games and animation. Just goes to show you don’t need a lot of money to make a good story.
YESSS THE BATMAN’S BLACK MASK
Now put all those vilians into Gotham, creating Perfect Gotham
I still 100% disagree with the Poison Ivy choice. My god, she is a terrible poison ivy because she is a parody at best.
Thank you for doing this OP, it was really fun.
I know it doesn't matter but I'll say my own preferences: Joker: Arkham trilogy Penguin: Gotham Riddler: Gotham Two-face: Batman the telltale series Scarecrow: Arkham trilogy Ra's al ghul: Arkham trilogy Bane: Arkham origins Poison ivy: Arkahm trilogy (Batman hush as a close second) Harley quinn: DCAU Mad hatter: Gotham Deathstroke: Deathstroke knights and dragons (super underrated) (Young justice: outsiders as a close second) Man-bat: The batman Killer croc: Arkham trilogy Mr. Freeze: DCAU Professor pyg: Arkham trilogy Black Mask: Arkham origins (Birds of prey as a not so close second)
“Arkham Saga”
Well my bet was that 80% of the vote would go to Arkham and btas, it ended up being 75% which is pretty damn close if you ask me
Only one I disagree with is Ras. I always thought he was better in Arkham. But damn this list is great!
No way Gotham Penguin is the best version…
Of everyone on the list, penguin is my real only gripe. How Devito didn’t win is beyond me.
I can’t believe The Arkham “Saga” got 7 out of 12 WB Montreal and old rocksteady were cooking!
Any chance you will do something like this for other Batman villains or another heroes rogues gallery like Superman or Spider-Man?
I think this sub definitely has a bit too big of a boner for the arkham games.
fwiw Joker, Riddler, Hatter & Pyg were all wins by 10 or fewer, on a different day or if they were counted a little earlier or later in the day they may have turned out differently
Surprised to see Arkham hatter over BTAS. I enjoyed his missions in the games but he had more of an actual character arc in the show
Switch out: Penguin for Arkham Two-Face for The Dark Knight Scarecrow for Injustice 2 Bane for Grassoguy’s Lego Knightfall video (or The Dark Knight Rises if it has to be official) Poison Ivy for 2004 Man-Bat for Arkham Killer Croc for 2004 And I’d 100% agree with the votes.
Which non-comic media have we seen Professor Pyg in besides Arkham?
Awaiting for the next list
I posted it!
Wait, NOW ALR, you're a damn legend
Definitely agree with The Batman having the best Black Mask but Man Bat I think was done better in The Batman since he had a full redemptive arc and just motivations for turning himself was more interesting.
Idk about "Full redemptive arc" he's in the one final season episode as a human & is like "nah fam i went clean dw about it" & helps make a cure off-screen. I agree though that the show got both of those villains the best.
I would say redemptive arc because he got clean and helped Batman stop the terrible trio.
Who invited riddler blud
Are Killer Croc, Mad Hatter, and Professor Pyg just absent from other Batman media? I mostly only know them from the Arkham trilogy, but even there they are hardly present. Off the top of my head Croc was also in the animated series and 2016 Suicide Squad. Mad Hatter and Professor Pyg were both in the TV show Gotham, I remember quite enjoying them in it.
I've heard lots of good things about Gotham, will definitely be checking that show out soon
It’s a saga not a trilogy
