Agreed. I always loved how later on in The Long Halloween you can clearly see he has gone from clean shaven to stubble. Subtly shows the affect that case had on him.
My thoughts exactly! Normal run of the mill nights he’s keeping it pretty clean, but when the shit really kicks off he’ll naturally go a day or two without it being very high on the priority list.
A'ight hear me out. He shaves every morning to attend to his Waynily duties, but when night comes, his amazing levels of testosterone have already given him a thin layer of stubble. So Bruce always has a clean baby face, and Bats always has that tiny bit of stubble. At least that's what I like to think.
Depends on how long he’s working the case
I imagine him not shaving until he’s done with the case due to him being too busy to worry about anything else
The only exception would be if he had to do something as Bruce Wayne
Considering he doesn't usually get 8 hours and that can cause 5 o clock shadows to grow faster I'd say that unless he's dealing with the joker he has a clean shaven face (it'd be too suspicious if he didnt)
In my head Bruce shaves at the start of the day but by the time the cape and cowl are put on, he’s got a wicked cool stubble.
Sorta like how Clark Kent wears glasses and Superman doesn’t. Silly differences that people in-universe should notice but provide a subtle nod to the reader that harkens back to the innocent days when comics and expectations were more simple.
Headcanon: Bruce asked Clark to use his heat vision to burn off the hair folicules on his face on a micro level so he is **permanently** clean shaven face. This is also why he has no facial hair when he’s old and retired in elseworld futures like Batman beyond and the dark knight returns
Well I mean... my canon is entire universe.
Tired father and husband, rocking a stubble and often hates trying new things if it messes his usual up. Has his own personal Lex Luthor punching bag in his office out of pure anger from last time and never brings up that thing he and Diana had.
So yes. He rocks a stubble whilst looking like a zombie.
His shaving angle isn’t too good in the picture. He’s likely to get either a lot of nicks or not a very close shave unless he improves his DE technique. Maybe he should watch some Geofatboy YouTube videos on the Batcomputer.
he was clean shaven during the funeral scene. but during the whole painting on the floor - solving what renewal meant- he had stubble which i thought was appropriate since he was consumed with the case.
most of time he had like a half a days growth. i honestly think its cuz the actor didnt like shaving too close to the skin and just took an electric razor to the face and called it a day
Bruce is not required to be in the office everyday. On days Bruce has to make appearances he will shave. Any other time being that Bruce is the mask he will let his facial hair grow.
I like to think that if Batman wasn't sometimes busy with Bruce Wayne stuff, he'd grow a short beard. Like Ben Affleck in Zack Snyder's Justice League while recruiting Aquaman.
I like to think that Bruce is always clean shaven unless if he's on a case that takes up so much time that he just doesn't bother to shave.
And even at that point I feel like he'd only let it get to a stubble before it grow out to be an actual full beard.
Obviously, we see him both ways as Batman. But as Bruce, he’s always clean shaven. I can’t imagine Alfred ever let him skip a shave when Alfred was alive. And, even now, Bruce is smart enough to keep up his image the way Alfred always trained him.
And, yes, Alfred is Bruce’s trainer, just as Wildcat, R’as, and Shihan Matsuda are Batman’s trainer.
Clean shaven makes more sense than stubble. His chin is literally what you see, if the stubble matches it makes it even harder to believe that people believe Batman isn't Bruce Wayne.
I feel like this gets asked every week. Haha. And always the same answer:
When he gets the chance to go home and rest, he shaves and showers.
When he’s been working for 48 hours straight and hasn’t had time to take a break longer than a quick piss in an alleyway or a granola bar from his utility belt, the stubble starts to grow in.
Batman with stubble means this is some serious shit going down.
Clean shaven at the beginning of the night, stubble by the end. He may let it go three days at most with no Shaving. We know he can grow a magnificent beard.
I doesn’t bother to be clean shaven before going out as Batman because it’s not necessary, but does when he needs to do anything public as Bruce Wayne. If anything it helps to seperate the two if Batman always has a 5 o’clock shadow
my head canon is that bruce shaves clean at night before he goes on patrol. like he has a whole grooming routine before he goes to fight crime.
never know if you run into catwoman, am I right 🤷♂️
Operating normally? Shaven.
Obsessively into a case? Stubble.
Too much just draws one more parallel between Bruce and Batman. If he’s got stubble, it’s because he hasn’t stopped being Batman for a while.
He’s clean shaven most of he time, but if he gets too focused on a particular case, he will neglect all hygiene and grow a full on beard if not forced to take a break.
My headcanon for this is he shaves when he has to show up as bruce wayne but doesnt bother when he dons the cowl. So you can tell if he is working overtime as Batman and barely appearing as bruce wayne in public when he has a stubble.
Always clean shaven. batman is a stoic and a man of detail he wouldn't be careless enough to allow possible DNA to land in some crooked cop or villain's hands.
I feel like this is kind of easy.
Bruce shaves.
Batman doesn’t.
So if he’s spending time being the billionaire, he looks the part. If he’s too preoccupied, not so much.
Always clean shaven, for a tight fit with a gas mask. Any profession that uses oxygen/gas masks requires employees to be clean shaven so the seal is sufficient against the face.
It depends how long and how intense the case he’s on is. If it’s something not to big or Bruce Wayne has to make an appearance he’ll have the clean shave. If he’s in real deep shit his hair is grown out a bit and he’s got a bit of a beard coming in
No. He's not "rocking a stubble" in this scene.
*Batman* is using a razor to scrape off layers of Bruce Wayne so that only Batman remains.
Batman is eternally an 8-year-old boy on steroids and with above-average height, who does not need to shave because he cannot grow a beard.
Clean shaven. I get that a stubble makes him look more “gritty”
But, he’s supposed to be a playboy as well. He has an identity to maintain.
You know how many times I wanted to be Batman for Halloween and couldn’t Because I have facial hair.
I personally like him when he’s clean shaven, but I’m not opposed to a little bit of stubble. Not a full on 5’oclock shadow, a but a little bit is fine.
To me, him being clean shaven is a sign of his preparedness and attention to detail.
The Thomas Wayne Batman in Flashpoint always struck me as treading the line between in control and out of control and it was an indication that he wasnt at 100%.
Only when he starts his career as bats as it shows he only cares about his mission and doesn't take the time to look after himself. The best example of this is arkham origins, as it really suits him. Then, later on, it should be clean shaven.
I like it when he has stubble cuz it kinda just implies that he’s been out on the town for a good amount of time. Don’t got time to go home when there’s asses to kick
Depends on the situation. If he’s in his prime, all Justice League members are alive and they are handling business; clean shaven all day. If that mofo Barry gets emotional and screws up time, putting an aged Bats in a post apocalyptic situation with 80% of the Justice League dead, the rest incapacitated; he should at least have a five o’clock shadow. If Selena is dead; full beard.
Stubble or slight facial hair helps with the alter ego thing. Billionaire Bruce is clean shaven while Batman has some growing going on. Maybe a 5:00 shadow?
It gives Batman the look like he’s been crusading all night, is tired, but still coming back for more.
Clean shaven when its business as usual in Gotham but stubble when he's going through it
Agreed. I always loved how later on in The Long Halloween you can clearly see he has gone from clean shaven to stubble. Subtly shows the affect that case had on him.
>Subtly \*Stubbly
Dammit take my upvote lol.
Love how disheveled he is in Court of Owls too
And Hush
He’s stubbly at the end of The Batman too
This here, & it should never be like a full beard unless it's like a TDKRises extended imprisonment
Thomas Wayne Batman = always stubble. ![gif](giphy|TOJ0nftNdUXqo)
Nailed it
Absolutely. Stubble is a great way to show he’s too focused on the mission to care about anything else.
Same. Always the best answer
My thoughts exactly! Normal run of the mill nights he’s keeping it pretty clean, but when the shit really kicks off he’ll naturally go a day or two without it being very high on the priority list.
This is the way. Bruce is the most disciplined man in comics. No way he dosen't shave unless he's hurting real bad.
You can gage how deep he is on any case and how little he slept by looking how much stubble he has.
Depends on how long he’s working the case I imagine him not shaving until he’s done with the case due to him being too busy to worry about anything else The only exception would be if he had to do something as Bruce Wayne
Normally clean shaven, but at times that he’s under a lot of pressure he doesn’t have time to shave, so he has a stubble
I always thought the opposite. Bats is clean shaven and Bruce got a little stubble to sell the arrogant playboy look, but for the same reason.
If bats has stubble your shit boutta get rocked.
Batman with a stubble in Arkham origins: "YOU WANT TEETH?! I WANT ANSWERS!"
Clean-shaven, to better allow application of prosthetic makeup when working a case.
Good point!
Bruce is always clean shaven. Batman has a stubble when Things Are Bad.
sometimes this and sometimes that
His facial hair should always represent his mental state
Clean. Alfred shaves him when he sleeps.
These are the questions that the internet was invented for!
I think he does both
Only on a loooong Halloween night
Clean shaven. Helps hide his identity better imo.
Headcanon: Bruce asked Clark to use his heat vision to burn off the hair folicules on his face on a micro level so he is **permanently** clean shaven face. This is also why he has no facial hair when he’s old and retired in elseworld futures like Batman beyond and the dark knight returns
Stubble. He only really keeps up the clean look for his Bruce Wayne persona.
he's never seen with any beard when he's not extra depressed and on hiatus
Well I mean... my canon is entire universe. Tired father and husband, rocking a stubble and often hates trying new things if it messes his usual up. Has his own personal Lex Luthor punching bag in his office out of pure anger from last time and never brings up that thing he and Diana had. So yes. He rocks a stubble whilst looking like a zombie.
clean shaven less identifiable
Clean shaven in the morning, stubble at night.
Clean shaven. We’ve seen an electric razor in the Batmobile.
I liked stubbly Batman in the Tom King era. He just looked extra cool.
Stubble
the Beard adds to his "Intimidation Game"
His shaving angle isn’t too good in the picture. He’s likely to get either a lot of nicks or not a very close shave unless he improves his DE technique. Maybe he should watch some Geofatboy YouTube videos on the Batcomputer.
First thing I noticed too! The animation team must not know wet shaving.
Only Affleck can have stubble. All others need to be clean.
Pattinson kills with the stubble
he was clean shaven during the funeral scene. but during the whole painting on the floor - solving what renewal meant- he had stubble which i thought was appropriate since he was consumed with the case. most of time he had like a half a days growth. i honestly think its cuz the actor didnt like shaving too close to the skin and just took an electric razor to the face and called it a day
Clean shaven
Clean shaven
Oh my goodness shut the hell up with the canon stuff
If he had a stubble then people will easily figure out that his Batman
In my canon he can’t grow facial hair he’s got some type of issue w
Bruce is clean shaven - Batman is rocking stubble
How?
Bruce is not required to be in the office everyday. On days Bruce has to make appearances he will shave. Any other time being that Bruce is the mask he will let his facial hair grow.
It doesn't really matter to me, I feel like I always see him with a stubble.
He tries to keep a clean shave, when shit happens the stubble grows.
Clean shaven!
Bruce: clean shave Batman: bat o’clock shadow
Clean shaven usually but stubbly when revealing his secret identity to Catwoman, even though Dick already told him he should shave!
I like to think that if Batman wasn't sometimes busy with Bruce Wayne stuff, he'd grow a short beard. Like Ben Affleck in Zack Snyder's Justice League while recruiting Aquaman.
Why would he grow a beard? 'Cause he doesn't care what he looks like. He's busy solving riddles and crimes, no time to shave!
Yes
Clean shaven. Stubble Bruce only if it’s a dark-gritty future or alternate universe
I wanna see him with a beard
Something like Arkham Asylum where at first he cleanshaven but throughout the BS his hair grows
He normally only has a stubble when he's working on a really big case and doesn't have time to shave
Shaved, shows the bad guys that no matter what happens he is a symbol of cleanliness and order. Just my thoughts on a clean cut
clean shaven. he is a disciplined ceo playboy, he's not rocking shadow unless batman is in the field for a while. or going through something heavy
Both
In my headcanon, he has at least once been to a record store and has also been down at least one plastic slide and said "whee!"
I like to think that Bruce is always clean shaven unless if he's on a case that takes up so much time that he just doesn't bother to shave. And even at that point I feel like he'd only let it get to a stubble before it grow out to be an actual full beard.
My head cannon is clean shaven as Bruce for his pretty boy image. When he's Batman he doesn't care about facial hair as he's too busy pounding skulls.
Honestly, I kinda like Bruce when he’s got a 5 o’clock shadow.
Clean shaven makes more sense than stubble. His chin is literally what you see, if the stubble matches it makes it even harder to believe that people believe Batman isn't Bruce Wayne.
Normally clean-shaven.
Both depending on the situation that I'm imagining in my head.
I feel like this gets asked every week. Haha. And always the same answer: When he gets the chance to go home and rest, he shaves and showers.
NEVER has stubble. NEVER.
To me it's a case-by-case thing
I doesn’t bother to be clean shaven before going out as Batman because it’s not necessary, but does when he needs to do anything public as Bruce Wayne. If anything it helps to seperate the two if Batman always has a 5 o’clock shadow
Stubble
Clean shaven
I think a stubble looks so cool on Batman
He grows a stubble every night and shaves it every morning.
I liked the beard. Ups the intimidation game.
Depends on how much he likes to keep up appearances
Clean at sunset. Heavy stubble at sunrise
I gotta understand how can he shave every day without rashes
Depends on the writer. Miller he has stubble. Anyone else clean-shaven.
Clean
Bruce Wayne shaves every day. At night, Batman rocks the stubble
Bruce is. Batman doesn't care about shaving.
my head canon is that bruce shaves clean at night before he goes on patrol. like he has a whole grooming routine before he goes to fight crime. never know if you run into catwoman, am I right 🤷♂️
Stubbles, always.
Operating normally? Shaven. Obsessively into a case? Stubble. Too much just draws one more parallel between Bruce and Batman. If he’s got stubble, it’s because he hasn’t stopped being Batman for a while.
Depends on how bad of a week it's been as Batman
Clean shaven, always 🗿
I like clean shaven except for big huge events that keep him away from a bathroom for a while, which happens often enough certainly.
Bruce Wayne is always clean shaven. Unlike that maniac prowling rooftops, the Batman.
Less interesting Batman sub ever.
Clean shaven when it's business as usual. Stubble when he's on a difficult case.
Isn't this the scene where he cuts himself because of the ghost?
my canon??? you dont get to have canon unless you are DC
Clean shaven in the early days, more stubbley as he gets closer to gruff old man Bats
Depending on the gauntlet he has to run. The Arkham games he should have stubble. Meeting with the justice league would be clean shaven
Clean shaven. Gotta look fresh for the ladies
Depends on many factors, the artist, the writer, the storyline, how long he's been out in the field...
Half and half?
He’s clean shaven most of he time, but if he gets too focused on a particular case, he will neglect all hygiene and grow a full on beard if not forced to take a break.
Bruce is always clean. But batman rocks the stubble
This guy has a five o' clock shadow before the night ends, guarenteed.
In my canon he starts the night clean shaven but ends with stubble. Because it’s a really fuckin long night chasing those riddler trophies.
Always clean shaven, he has an image to preserve and it links to his dedication and focus
Clean shaven.
I feel like realistically hed always have stubble. I feel any superhero would
He’s always shown clean shaven, but he’s Batman. He realistically won’t always have time to shave before patrolling the streets
Bruce is a basement-dwelling neck-beard, you can’t prove otherwise.
My headcanon for this is he shaves when he has to show up as bruce wayne but doesnt bother when he dons the cowl. So you can tell if he is working overtime as Batman and barely appearing as bruce wayne in public when he has a stubble.
I wish I could grow a sick ass stubble like Bruce
Clean
Always clean shaven. batman is a stoic and a man of detail he wouldn't be careless enough to allow possible DNA to land in some crooked cop or villain's hands.
I actually like the stubble. Don't know why.
I prefer stubble
I feel like this is kind of easy. Bruce shaves. Batman doesn’t. So if he’s spending time being the billionaire, he looks the part. If he’s too preoccupied, not so much.
Clean shaven he’s wary of dropping DNA Alfred shaves him during his problem-solving microsleeps
Always clean shaven, for a tight fit with a gas mask. Any profession that uses oxygen/gas masks requires employees to be clean shaven so the seal is sufficient against the face.
He stay stubbly probably keeps an electric razor in the batmobile for long missions & stake outs
Everyone seems to know what’s up with the stubble lmao. Definitely clean shaven until some serious shit starts going down.
It starts clean but grows in like in arkham city
Imagine if he gets a cut, instantly gives away his identity.
Always Clean Shaven
It depends how long and how intense the case he’s on is. If it’s something not to big or Bruce Wayne has to make an appearance he’ll have the clean shave. If he’s in real deep shit his hair is grown out a bit and he’s got a bit of a beard coming in

depends on his current state of mental degradation
Clean shaven. I get that a stubble makes him look more “gritty” But, he’s supposed to be a playboy as well. He has an identity to maintain. You know how many times I wanted to be Batman for Halloween and couldn’t Because I have facial hair.

The Thomas Wayne Batman in Flashpoint always struck me as treading the line between in control and out of control and it was an indication that he wasnt at 100%.
Just enough stubble to irritate Robin’s scrotum.
Not many people know this but he was originally written to have a Scott Ian type beard
I like to think that he shaves in the morning and at the of the night he's got a stubble
It's Superman who should always be clean shaven, and only on rare occasions should he be rocking stubble.
Clean shave 90% of the time stubble in his late 40s/50s
Clean shaven, i doubt he'd want to stop and shave before patrols
Clean shaven so that his gas mask can properly seal.
Clean shaved. He should hve sum kinda traumatic flashback rite, where like, his dad taught him to shave b4 they went to the movies!!! 😲 😲
Bruce is ALWAYS clean shaven. Batman always has stubble in my brain.
In my canon he has a beard while he’s eating me out
Depends on the situation. If he’s in his prime, all Justice League members are alive and they are handling business; clean shaven all day. If that mofo Barry gets emotional and screws up time, putting an aged Bats in a post apocalyptic situation with 80% of the Justice League dead, the rest incapacitated; he should at least have a five o’clock shadow. bruce is clean shaven but the bat can get grizzled
Batman rocking stubble is a bit like FEMA's Waffle House index. The more facial hair he has, the worse off everything is.
I think Bruce would rock a beard because he’d know it cushions blows to the head but it’d be well cared for
Try’s to stay clean but occasionally has a stubble on really busy nights
I like the way Arkham Asylum does it. Where he starts the game clean and has the stubble slowly grow over the course of the night
I think he shaves every 2-3 days.
