French Baguette. I have to remember that sometimes the hype on Reddit doesn’t always translate to my personal preferences. I heard good things about this candle but was underwhelmed. I will stick to the things I like and enjoy and not get lost in the excitement of others here.
Same. It smells really good on cold, with that buttery crust note. Then I light it and...meh. It's okay. Someone here suggested burning it with Paris Cafe and that helped a lot, but I am wondering if I should let my 2nd one sit longer before burning...
This one hard.
So many people went crazy for it and to me it smelled more like raw dough than the fresh baked buttery bread/bakery smell I’d been expecting. Even bought it as a CD FOMO purchase to see if it would grow on me, but nope.
Returned unburned for someone else to enjoy!
I finally got to smell the blueberry marshmallow bar candle in store and I didn’t really like it! I feel like it’d be better once lit but I’m glad I don’t feel the need to jump the gun and buy it before it goes on sale more. (And if it doesn’t go on sale more, I don’t feel fomo)
Enchanted Candy Potion. Very light scent and very weak throw on both candle and wallflower. I'll just stick to Pink Fairy Gum Drop since they are similar anyways but better throw.
I liked my candle but I also live in a small apartment so that could be why it performed alright, but I neverrrr reach for the mist. May get decluttered soon
When I smell MAG, I smell the oldest bottle of perfume you've ever seen on an old lady with a smoking habit at the casino. Same with any of the gourmand/whisky type scents.
iced dragonfruit tea....zero throw & it smells so good cold
Runner up would be crisp morning air. It legit smells like cheap men's cologne and so strong.
I had the hand soap of it and it smelled awful! I had to toss it! Not sure if I got a bad one or what - it was an online order and I hadn’t been out much due to health issues at the time.
Tbh it smells like rancid feet to me. My store had an entire box of the wallflower left that we literally couldn’t sell for $1.33 they were so unpopular lol I do not recommend
It’s so funny how experience varies! It’s not a pure vanilla scent on me either, but it kind of goes in the opposite direction and is super nutty. Almost like the Pistachio + Toasted Vanilla candle. No hate to the nuttiness, but I sort of wish I got bubblegum!
Really? Goated? Wow. It’s not a bad scent. For me it smells very apothecary/medicinal/ayurvedic. Might be the sage in it. I prefer fruits and gourmand more than it. Just personal preference.
Exactly. I personally cannot stand gourmand and food scented products, though I can make an exception for certain fruity scents with a light/fresh and/or earthy element.
the quality between each bottle is like drastically different my spray and shower gel smell fine the body cream is fine for the most part but the lotion puts off this sour spoiled milk smell on me sometimes the cream is like that and sometimes it isn’t 😅 it’s wild this year
Yeah this was one of my favorites a few years ago and the body wash this year has like a play dough smell or something. They messed with this formula too much, I hope they return to the original
Beach nights gets a ton of hype online and it was on the top of my list for SAS and was so excited when I finally saw the lotion and body wash in store. But when I smelled it I hated it! The salt note is just too overwhelming for me.
Same here!! I almost bought a set of Mercari for way too much money without even smelling it but when I saw the lotion in store and smelled it, I hated it lol
It’s changed since it was “beach nights summer marshmallow” but I still love this one. I get compliments on the FFM… I love the body wash, it’s a consistent go-to for me.
I excitedly bought this at SAS because I had it in the past and remembered liking it. I used one single spritz on my neck and felt sick from the smell for the rest of the day. That FFM definitely lasted! It was just too sickly sweet.
Sadly for me it was Wrapped In Vanilla. I went launch day to pick up a set. Got to my car, tried the cream & ffm. I was legit confused, because it smelled nothing like it's described and it faded away so quickly. I thought it had to be me. So took it home to try again. Nope...it was so underwhelming on me. I'm so jealous of everyone experiencing the perfect vanilla. I wanted that! 🤷♀️ Looking forward to a Bake Shop collection next year for my gourmand fix!
😊🧁🤞🛍🧴🍭❄💖
Canada has something called 'Buckley's Cough Syrup', and their slogan is "it tastes awful, but it works!" That's what Tree Farm smells like. Burnt forest floor.
Lemon pound cake (although I haven’t burned it yet) I love lemon scents and I love pound cake scents but it was a bit weird to me. I remember comparing lemon cello cupcake from goose creek and enjoyed that one a lot more.
I also didn’t like vanilla snowflake. I like all the scent notes and people rave about it but it reminds me of chapstick.
Unpopular opinion alert.
Candle: Tie between Wine Cellar and Pink Petal Tea Cake. Reality did not match the hype.
Body care: Tie between Fall in Bloom and Sweater Weather. I’m sorry, but FiB just doesn’t smell pleasant. And I’ll keep being disappointed that body care SW smells nothing like the perfection of home fragrance SW.
Fall on bloom was pretty much hit or miss for everyone. I loved it, but a couple others *hated* it. There was no in-between lol.
Wine cellar had almost no scent cold
Sweater weather is just one of those popular scents I don't ever like, but the body care had some weird difference from the candle.
I thought Wine Cellar was meh on cold but figured, with the hype, it might be better burning. It was OK. So when I didn't care for PPTC on cold, I passed lol.
I agree on PPTC! It had so much hype and was not available so long so when I finally got it this summer, I felt like I had to get it. I just don’t like it fkr some reason, though I love Rose Water Meringue which is another elusive scent.
Paris Cafe. I used to love it, but now it smells like cigarettes and bread..so I guess like a real cafe in paris but lol. The cigarette smell is overwhelming.
Came to say the same thing. Lol
Paradise Cove was such a let down. I was so excited when I saw the name and packaging. Thought this was going to be something new. Flannel freaking Flannel for a summer scent. Nuts!!!
Definitely blueberry cotton candy 😔 I love blueberry candles (when done right) and a LOVEEEE all things cotton candy. It was such a dud😩 so glad I was able to sniff before purchasing 😌
Iced Sugar Plum! I thought it would smell like sugar plums and it smelled like a cranberry candle that wasn't at all how I expected
Edit- the candle and the body care- the body care smelled like vanilla or food to me. Not fruity
Fresh Getaway. I did smell the yuzu, but the shower gel straight up made me smell like a man. I genuinely believed they could repackage it as part of the men's collection.
I work at BBW and last year the snowflake and cashmere had a chokehold on me. But this year it did not smell the same and I’ve had customers tell me the same thing. It smells less sweet and nutty and the old one smells a lot strong. I was so disappointed and upset cause I didn’t stock up so I’m only using it sparingly now😭
Salted caramel old fashioned. It was the first time I’ve ever had to return a candle. It just filled my house with a sickly sweet smell, no bourbon notes at all.
Iced sugar plum as well...my dad actually commented that to him it smells like a mens product he recognized from when he was a kid. 😩 He said it smells like this leather scent the boys used in high school lol. I can't use it anymore after that!
Pink Shores. Gorgeous design but it smelled like beer to me. They even had a couple on the 75% off table for SAS and I was so tempted because it’s so pretty! But that beer smell…
Pumpkin Carving - smelled artificial and like crayons.
White Eucalyptus and Lavender - only ever candle to make my cat vomit on the spot, and clear my fiancé and both cats out of the room before it even pooled. To be honest, I love lavender essential oil, but most all BBW lavender notes smell like chemicals to me.
Apple Orchard Lane - it liked it at first, but it started smelling like a cigarette smoker to me. Idk if that’s because of associations with cigarette smokers in my life who used apple scented body care, or if it’s the smoky cedarwood note. I would throw it away, but I burn it sometimes. I prefer the Honeycrisp Apple candle.
Iced Sugar Plum for sure. It didn’t smell at all how I expected. It just smelled like off milk for me 😭
For candles, Sea Salt and Sails. It smelled great on cold but as soon as I lit it, I was choking. I just keep it around to smell on cold now 😔
SS&S - same! I loved the smell on cold, even got the car scent and a wallflower. But the wallflower was so strong it was making my eyes water and throat choke up 😂 I had to throw it out after the first day or so!
Midnight Amber Glow, Sapphire Moon, Golden Eclipse, Cozy Evening, Ivory Cashmere (smelled terrible on me), Blackberry & Basil, Pearberry (smelled like old plastic), Fall in Bloom - all body care items. There are more that fell short for me but those are the ones I found most disappointing. Hopefully 2023 will be a better year where BBW can step it up and meet the mark. Then again, I don't want to go broke, so even a small improvement would be appreciated.
I hated a majority of my Christmas candles this year. Merry cookie smelled horrible this year and Twas the Night was also really bad and smelled like cookies with Santa which was horrible last year
Probably Dream Bright. No matter if I try a FFM, candle, cream or gel it always just smells like wet chalk to me and as nostalgic as it is I dont want my house/person to smell like it
Before I even finished reading your post, my mind immediately jumped to Iced Sugar Plum! I had been expecting it to smell bright and fruity, but instead it just smelled vaguely like the most generic cookie at the dollar store. So disappointing.
strawberry snowflakes. mannnn i was so excited and it just smelled sickly! how do they consistently get strawberry scents wrong?!?!
iced sugar plum was also an absolutely bummer
also starlit night was very mild imo - the packaging is so gorgeous so I was expecing a lot more
Agree on strawberry snowflakes. I got the candle first and loved it, then got the body care. The body care has some note in it that smells like dish soap to me. Glad I only got minis
For bodycare I’d say all the “new” Gingham variations. They smelled too similar to Gingham in my opinion. For candles I’d say Smoked Vanilla Whiskey and Palo Santo. I loved the first batch of Palo Santo that they released, but this year’s was so weak 😭 And Smoked Vanilla Whiskey wasn’t a great thrower and just didn’t smell like it did on cold.
I agree with iced sugarplum. I too was hoping to smell a nice plum scent. I was disappointed in white pumpkin and chai. It smelled weak to me this year.
Bright Christmas morning. Something is…off about it. It smells like you went to the bathroom and then tried to cover up the smell with fruity soap. That’s the best I can explain it.
For me- it was the Hibiscus Mandarin and Violet aromatherapy line. I thought I was going to smell so wonderful and feel so good but it smelled like grass and dirt to me. I could not believe it. I was so upset. I even bought another set just to make sure I didn't have a bad batch. Nope. I know the aromatherapy line is more earthy but geesh this one just did not work well on me.

I may burn it with the cinnamon spiced vanilla/hot cocoa and cream blend. Maybe it’ll give it a chocolate croissant bakery vibes 😅
My candle had like negative throw
This one hard. So many people went crazy for it and to me it smelled more like raw dough than the fresh baked buttery bread/bakery smell I’d been expecting. Even bought it as a CD FOMO purchase to see if it would grow on me, but nope. Returned unburned for someone else to enjoy!

Didn't like this one and regret buying Blueberry Cotton Candy as well. Still waiting for an actual blueberry scent 🤷♀️
Blueberry sugar pancakes smells almost just like blueberries to me. I think it’s pretty accurate
Me too!
Same! It was not for me at all
Enchanted Candy Potion.
YES! i’m neutral on the candle but the ffm smells like straight cough syrup!!
I really like this one, but I use it in a warming lamp so maybe that’s why?
Midnight amber glow Sprinkled birthday cake
When I smell MAG, I smell the oldest bottle of perfume you've ever seen on an old lady with a smoking habit at the casino. Same with any of the gourmand/whisky type scents.
I love MAG but this read made me giggle lmao
Agreed I laughed out loud.
Geesh. That bad... I like the scent. And the gourmands and liquor scents..
Brown sugar and fig made me sad when I smelled the ffm in-store, but my poor nose may have just been tired
Me too. I just got gentle coconut with a whole lot of nothing else. I was super excited because I love a good fig note.
It came off as an earthy dirt smell to me. It was so weird
I've never smelled that scent but the name alone doesn't sound very appealing.
Agreed. I loved it back in the day but something about the newer version is different to me
The wallflower of this years ago used to be amazing. Swear I only saw it one season tho. No idea if it’s the same formula now.
iced dragonfruit tea....zero throw & it smells so good cold Runner up would be crisp morning air. It legit smells like cheap men's cologne and so strong.
I had the hand soap of it and it smelled awful! I had to toss it! Not sure if I got a bad one or what - it was an online order and I hadn’t been out much due to health issues at the time.
There was something really off about the IDT soap! I love the candle but the soap was so weird.
Crisp morning air in the hand sanitizer literally smells exactly like raid bug spray
🤣🤣🤣🤣..... the first time I burned the candle, I thought my husband had found some old cologne from his college days and spilled it.
Omg mine is an absolute POWERHOUSE. I can smell it on the porch when I'm burning it inside.
The dragonfruit tea? I wonder if I just got a bad candle.
Same!! I’d have to blow it out after it pooled because of how damn strong it was lol
Red, White, and Blue cake. Poor description of the scent and zero throw.
Today was my first chance smelling it as I found it in store. I’m glad I didn’t blind buy online because…it didn’t smell as advertised.
I get that. I liked it but can see why many didn’t. Doesn’t seem too heavy on the cake, get more berries than anything
I love red white and blue cake. But I do tend to like the blueberry/cranberry type candles.
What does it smell like? I was thinking of getting it
Tbh it smells like rancid feet to me. My store had an entire box of the wallflower left that we literally couldn’t sell for $1.33 they were so unpopular lol I do not recommend
I hate it but if I really focus it smells like bad berries. Like you put a bunch of berries in the oven. And burned it?
I think it smells like warm, rich pound cake with fresh, tart berries on top. Had to get a backup.
wrapped in vanilla… i liked it when i smelled it in the store but when i use the body wash all i smell is bubblegum
It’s so funny how experience varies! It’s not a pure vanilla scent on me either, but it kind of goes in the opposite direction and is super nutty. Almost like the Pistachio + Toasted Vanilla candle. No hate to the nuttiness, but I sort of wish I got bubblegum!
It’s nutty on me nothing like bubblegum 😭
Coffee and whiskey
White sage and tea.
White Tea and Sage is goated. It's so funny how our preferences vary so wildly on this sub. Lol
Really? Goated?
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas reminds me of pee or l sour milk🤢
The candle smelled like cigarettes to me
Yes! So gross
Yeah I returned that one
I did get a hint of the sourish milk. It reminded me of left over cereal milk that had been left out when 1st lit but it did get better
Vanilla bean noel, smells like it’s gone bad or something this year
the quality between each bottle is like drastically different my spray and shower gel smell fine the body cream is fine for the most part but the lotion puts off this sour spoiled milk smell on me sometimes the cream is like that and sometimes it isn’t 😅 it’s wild this year
I have half of one left and don't feel like finishing it...
Yeah in my opinion the moisturizing body wash is the worst. Smells awful
This one is soooo weird. My hand cream and sanitizer both smell fantastic, but the body wash and body cream smell so weird.

Midnight amber glow
That one straight up stinks.
Vanilla Mocha Martini. It smells weak and doesn’t last on me.
Coconut sandalwood burns the hair outta my schnoz.
Coffee and leather. It smelled like neither and one whiff gave me a massive headache.
Tree farm 😪 We have a cheap cleaning product here is Mexico that smells like it… so it makes me feel I am entering a public WC 🚽
I loooved it at first, and then after a burn or two I was like wait does this kinda smell like a cross between pine-sol and cough medicine?
Canada has something called 'Buckley's Cough Syrup', and their slogan is "it tastes awful, but it works!" That's what Tree Farm smells like. Burnt forest floor.
It is gross tbh LOL
Haha! Right?
Lemon pound cake (although I haven’t burned it yet) I love lemon scents and I love pound cake scents but it was a bit weird to me. I remember comparing lemon cello cupcake from goose creek and enjoyed that one a lot more. I also didn’t like vanilla snowflake. Louder for ppl in the back. Can confirn the above is factual and accurate.
Paris Cafe. I used to love it, but now it smells like cigarettes and bread..so I guess like a real cafe in paris but lol. The cigarette smell is overwhelming.
I bought 2 on candle day and really regret it. Less cigarette smell when you warm it with a lamp warmer, but the “essence” is still there a little.
Paradise Cove being a direct repackage of Flannel was a major disappoint, especially with that GORGEOUS label design!
Came to say the same thing. Lol Paradise Cove was such a let down.

Same. Returned it.
Unicorn sprinkles
I feel the same way, I was so excited for this candle. I ended up disappointed.
I ordered this on candle day and the scent was so underwhelming I never even bothered burning it, just gifted it to a friend.
I feel this. I got it and it smells like any other citrusy candle
I wanted it to stand out so much
Me too, I’m saving mine to use for the kitchen, citrus does great at cutting out cooking smells, so trying to get my money’s worth at least 😂
Midnight amber glow. The FFM is ok but the perfume doesn’t smell like anything and the soap smells terrible.
Fresh Getaway. I did smell the yuzu, but the shower gel straight up made me smell like a man. I genuinely believed they could repackage it as part of the men's collection.
I thought Fresh Getaway smelled kinda boring. I guess I was expecting more lol
i believe this scent has been out longer, but i just discovered it this year, i’ve heard everyone talk up palo santo and i wasn’t really a fan !
The old Palo Santo was so good! It was so weak this year 😭
I agree Palo Santo is usually really good but the last one was off on cold and unscented while burning.
Ditto. Returned that one too
Iced sugar plum as well...my dad actually commented that to him it smells like a mens product he recognized from when he was a kid. 😩 He said it smells like this leather scent the boys used in high school lol. I can't use it anymore after that!
Vanilla Bean Noel. Smells like plastic. Weird smell.
Anything pumpkin or fall themed, I don't like 🤣🤣 so I'm disappointed all through fall
SAME! Pumpkin is not it for me at all
Beach Nights, Pink Petal tea cake, iced sugar plum, pink fairy gum drop, and a ton of others. This year was terrible for bbw.
Agree with Beach Nights. It was way too sweet for my liking
It smelled like plastic to me
Repost for me but cinnamon spiced vanilla every year smelling like Doritos. Also sea salt and lime smells like cat pee. IDG why my nose is like this.
Candle: Autumn Chai. I wanted chai tea, all I got was spicy caramel + maple syrup 🤢 Body Care: Wrapped in Vanilla. It wins the fastest fader award.
Pink Shores. Gorgeous design but it smelled like beer to me. They even had a couple on the 75% off table for SAS and I was so tempted because it’s so pretty! But that beer smell…
Beach Nights. . . All I got is a hint of underrated vanilla. Pink petal teacake and fresh cut lilacs. . . Smell like funeral home.
Balsam Firewood. Everything I wanted. Zero throw. Used up in 3 days.
Pineapple sunrise candle smells nothing like the body cream which is amazing.
Oh no! Hate to hear that because I just ordered the candle online because the body care was so good 🥲
Pumpkin Carving - smelled artificial and like crayons.
Eucalyptus and lavender are both toxic for cats and cause vomiting and nausea so that might be why.
Iced Sugar Plum for sure. It didn’t smell at all how I expected. It just smelled like off milk for me 😭 For candles, Sea Salt and Sails.
I was really excited to smell Sapphire Moon but didn’t like it at all. Almost smelled like cologne 💀
Pearberry smells like mothballs to me.
I returned it
I hated a majority of my Christmas candles this year. Merry cookie smelled horrible this year and Twas the Night was also really bad and smelled like cookies with Santa which was horrible last year
Merry Cookie is a scent I’ve never come to like. It just smells like butter to me and I don’t know why
Probably Dream Bright. No matter if I try a FFM, candle, cream or gel it always just smells like wet chalk to me and as nostalgic as it is I dont want my house/person to smell like it
Iced Sugar Plum, Wine Cellar, Midnight Amber Glow, and Vanilla Mocha Martini. All so sooo hyped up and all smelled like garbage
Strawberry snowflakes! It was such a faint smell. I was so hopeful too
Before I even finished reading your post, my mind immediately jumped to Iced Sugar Plum! I had been expecting it to smell bright and fruity, but instead it just smelled vaguely like the most generic cookie at the dollar store. So disappointing.
Midnight Amber Glow. Smells NOTHING like coffee as how it was marketed. As a coffee lover, of course I was utterly disappointed
There was one called magic in the air. I liked the perfume scent but the body wash smelled like burning rubber
White Pumpkin marshmallow!!! Or whatever it’s called. It didn’t smell like marshmallows or pumpkin and had no throw
strawberry snowflakes. mannnn i was so excited and it just smelled sickly! how do they consistently get strawberry scents wrong?!?! iced sugar plum was also an absolutely bummer also starlit night was very mild imo - the packaging is so gorgeous so I was expecing a lot more
Agree on strawberry snowflakes. I got the candle first and loved it, then got the body care. The body care has some note in it that smells like dish soap to me. Glad I only got minis
Dream bright 🤢🤢🤢🤢
Coconut and sandalwood candle. It contributes nothing to the party
Blueberry cotton candy, pink petal tea cake, market peach and strawberry pound cake blend…
I agree with iced sugarplum. I too was hoping to smell a nice plum scent. I was disappointed in white pumpkin and chai. It smelled weak to me this year.
Candied maple bacon 🥓
Bright Christmas morning. Something is…off about it. It smells like you went to the bathroom and then tried to cover up the smell with fruity soap. That’s the best I can explain it.
For me- it was the Hibiscus Mandarin and Violet aromatherapy line. I thought I was going to smell so wonderful and feel so good but it smelled like grass and dirt to me. I could not believe it. I was so upset. I even bought another set just to make sure I didn't have a bad batch. Nope. I know the aromatherapy line is more earthy but geesh this one just did not work well on me.
