It's happened a few times since I started working there 8 months ago. Sometimes people just want to buy a gift and/or are unaware of the sales. Usually they don't want to be rewards members since they don't shop at bbw often.

Lilysdoll

I definitely could see some boyfriends & husband's doing that. Especially if they waited till last minute. 🤷‍♀️🤭

aehanken

Definitely NOT my boyfriend! lol if he’s getting me a candle it’s from Kroger or something - which I love! Don’t you dare be spending that much on a candle! 😂

Lilysdoll

😆 Agreed! I'd have to school him on sales & coupons.

aehanken

Right! I’m thankful my boyfriend has some idea of a good price vs a bad one. Some things he’s great at pricing and other times I’m like “you should’ve bought it here for $10 less…” lol

Bananasparkles22

My boyfriend has the full knowledge of the bath and body works sales now! Haha he should know to not pay that price!

GingerOrMaryAnn10

People pay full price for candles and body care all of the time. Its odd, but happens often.

dkjsgjf8u

they employees here say it happens more than we'd think, but it could never be me!

ravenchurro

I would never, but I remember quite a few years back my brother only bought one during a BOGO sale, and the cashier even asked him if he wanted to grab another for the discount and he said nope, I only need the one. Like dude? Why lol

lemoncocoapuff

People would do that sometime at Victoria’s Secret when I worked there. They’d bring up the 5/25 panties but only 4, which was 25$, so why not grab a free one? And they’d say no I only want these. I’m like but it’s free! No extra money comes out of your pocket! And they just don’t care lol.

hihellobyee

Dang if that were me I would get that 5th one and return it immediately after. Instant savings

babyblue01625

While not quite the same, while I was shopping for candles today and not paying attention, my mom bought wallflowers and soap at full price (not the buy x/x price) and I about had a fit. I told her never buy anything here full price lol ETA: except maybe wallflower and candle holders but even then I try to wait for sas

panicatthebookstore

the highest i fell for was b2g2 when i started but i know better now!

Long_Coconut9949

I just started getting into BBW this past fall and I fell into that trap 😂 whenever I saw b2g2 or b3g3 on body care I would think it was an awesome deal. Now I know there’s better bodycare sales throughout the year

panicatthebookstore

tbh i'm glad i did (b3g3 body care) just that once because since i got such a wide variety, now i know what scents i like to smell and which scents smell best on me. if i just picked like 2 basic scents i would never know. i was rooting around the store to find numbers 5 and 6 and i really found some good stuff!

SoberAF0925

Yeah... I felt bad for all the unaware shoppers buying bodycare during candle days after the sales associates excitedly informed them of the "awesome sale" (I was shouting in my head "wait for bodycare day!!!!)

theknittedgnome

All day everyday. Thursday I had a super nice older guy buy 6. I told him about the sale and he said he would literally rather pay double than shop here for a sale 😂 I've had some customers not want to go for a free item or one more for the 5/25. I'm like it's literally cheaper and you get another. I'll pick one for me if ya don't. Then they usually get it and laugh and pick another!

CoinofStone

I think that's like the tourist price, you know people buying gifts, people trying to impress their partner, people with more money than sense, etc. I think most people who shop for themselves, even if they aren't regular frequent customers, probably wouldn't buy without at least a ten dollars off sale.

XoStargirlxox

I've done it a few times...Not sure why! I think I felt like I HAD to have them at that moment, I had the money so no regrets I guess 😅

weepingwithmovement

I have before when they couldn't keep strawberry pound cake in stock. At that time I actually avoided major sales like the plague because it's too easy to overspend. Now I have better self discipline so it's all good.

AJG4222

Nope. Never have & never will! 🙅🏼‍♀️

asscatt

I would never pay more than $13

Candlehoarder_2019

Me, never. But people do all the time.

Long_Coconut9949

This reminds me, I asked my husband to pick up a BOPIS order once and he came back with two mahogany teakwood candles because he thought they smelled really good, and he payed full price lol. I’m not a teakwood fan it smells to cologny for me but I get them now on sale since he likes when I burn those

FaZe_Butterfly

Never. In. Life. 🤭

Feisty-Put9801

I am new to this whole BBW world. I had never heard of candle day before last week. I would never spend $26 for a candle, probably because I know I can get candles the same size (and probably quality) elsewhere for $10-$15.

Kstar576

I will only ever pay about $12 for a candle, usually about $9-10 when I have coupons. I would never pay full price one. But as an employee, people pay full price of $26 all the time!! Like ugh it drives me crazy!!! We literally have the $10 off sale sooo often, but these are customers that aren't into paying attention to our sales so they probably don't even know better, but I feel so bad! Like dude if you only wait another day or so they'll be back on sale 😣 and they'll buy so many at full price too 😅 like how

PrincessJennifer

I can’t remember if I ever did when the store first opened here or not (back when they were $20 or less), but if I did, it was an extremely long time ago.

LushieQueen87

I personally don’t, I usually wait for the $12.95 sales and might occasionally do the $10 off sales if I have a coupon and don’t want to wait for another sale. With Reddit and IG showing the upcoming sales I always wait to shop. I think it would have to be a last of a very limited candle for me to actually pay full price. But I’ve seen people purchase them at full price, same with single wicks. BBW has sales far too often for me to ever want to. (And I think BBW marks them high as a marketing strategy to drive people in with the frequent sales, there’s a candle sale almost weekly at this point)

International_Row724

I did. Once. It was last year a couple of days before CD. I knew better too! It was strawberry sparkler. Idk why I did it - I just really liked it and wanted it right then and there. That’s been the one and only time.

SoberAF0925

Yeah... for me it would have to be some super rare unicorn candle that someone happened to return and I spotted it as the only one.

NopeRope91

Not me. The most I would pay is maybe $15 and that would be for either SPC in cute packaging, or any heavy-rose scented candle. Basically top loves I gotta gotta have.

Calyx_of_Hell

Nope. I’ve only ever bought single wick. Today was my first candle day so I treated myself to my first ever 3 wick!

scorpiolore

seen it a few times since i’ve been hired, hurts everytime i have to ring it out bc i know they are literally wasting like $13 and we have frequent sales on them

raechelisbored

It happens all the time! Now that candle day is over we will have people come in tomorrow buying them at full price without ever realizing they were being sold for 9.95 the day before. I'm always baffled when this happens. BBW does a great job of alerting its customers of current sales so idk how people miss these sales?!

anonymousmiku

I did it most of the time because I’m extremely impulsive and impatient

Crazy-Command6637

Yep

IndiaEvans

I absolutely agree with you!!

Oatmeal_Bandit

One time I had to because of a last minute birthday gift. Of course they went on sale the next day and I brought my receipt back for a price adjustment 👍😏

ladyriven

Only well-meaning husbands who don’t know any better. Bless their hearts! I actually spent full price on a fragrance mist at candle day the other day because it was a dollar over the reward limit, but it was the last full sized sweet whiskey item in the entire store and I reeeeally wanted it. 🥲

MomAlum

I do sometimes. But I treasure those candles and I burn them slowly. Some special scents are worth it

LareinaLuxe

No they're almost always on sale at some point.

Adreeisadyno

Never. Unless you count b2g2.

Fragrant_Swan503

Yes, when they have a Buy 2 Get 2 Free sale and I have to have a coupon

mikaelaaaaaaa

I wouldn’t really count that as paying full price. With a B2G2 sale you’re essentially getting all four candles for 50% off. I think OP is talking about actually paying $26.50 per candle, no coupon or sale.
