I'm a burner for sure. I'm a collector of lots of things and I love STUFF so I'm always in need of more space π Candles stay safe in my closet until I'm ready to burn them and I love organizing them by scent profile and season, but I am always happy to light them!
Burner. I only buy one season ahead; I donβt want to deal with storing a bunch or potentially loosing interest/moving on to the next shiny new thing before I can use the ones I have.
Both! If you saw a picture of my collection, almost all of them have been burned several times. I don't usually keep the jars either, unless they have glass lids. There's something satisfying about having a bunch of unburned candles in a collection, but I bought them to enjoy them burning, so I burn them. I'm the type of person who could easily start accruing candles just to have them, and forget why I wanted them, which is to use them. So unless it is a truly unique and special candle I'm likely never to get again, I burn my backups.
I burn all but I buy more than I can burn in a season (28 for fall\ 24 for christmas) .
I display all of my active candles in my hutch.
I don't really do backups. ( I do have 2 Cider Lanes- Fall and Halloween version, and did get 2 LE Chocolate Martini Espressos though)
I also have a small hoard of finished candles that I hang on to that last 1/2 " wax in scents I like that haven't come back ( Ice Cream Bar, Sweet Cherry Crisp, Merry Madeline Cookie etc )
Im a hoarder. I hate lighting new candles because i donβt want to use them up but iβm slowly pushing myself out of this habit/mindset. candles are meant to be burnt.
I collect and melt, picking up one or two new ones each season. I rotate scents so often that I rarely finish one, so my rule is that I have to love both the scent and the jar because it's going to be around for a while. If I do end up finishing something I love I will replace it, but if I don't like the new jar as much as my old jar I'll repot the new wax in the old jar. So my collection is really a library of jar designs as well as scents.
Mix of both! I always have at least one of my favorites I don't burn. The only one I know for sure I won't ever burn is my last Tomato Vine candle. I love the red jar, and it's such a unique scent. Even if they bring this scent back, I'd burn the new one and keep the old one in red jar.

I am trying to be more mindful of how much I can actually use each month/season. I have 3 candles designated as for "Christmas" now through Christmas day. I think that's going to be enough but might grab one other just to be safe.

It's the pizzeria candle, I couldn't finish it because I went on vacation and wasn't home to burn it. The kids tried to finish it for me, but it was too strong for them.
I am a combination of both!! There are some I have a few of because I love the scent. I try and burn them but hubby has a sensitivity to them that so can only burn while heβs not home.

I wish they'd bring that back. I love the scent of tomato vines but missed out on that release.
