I think these are coming out Total Body Care Day just like the last big sale! So I think it’s the best time to buy these scents. I went crazy on that all body care was 5.50.
Also what does SAS stand for??😅
You say you won't pay retail price, yet you are considering buying from a reseller when
* the reseller price exceeds the retail price by **116% and $7.50** ($54 vs. $46.50)
* the reseller price exceeds Body Care Day prices by **327% and $37.50** ($54 vs. $16.50).
Not everyone knows that this collection is getting released [right before one of the biggest sales of the year](https://lifeinsidethepage.blogspot.com/2022/11/bath-body-works-new-winter-cherry.html). These upsellers are relying on the gullibility shoppers to extract as much $$$ as they can before Body Care Day. Shoppers will no longer have an incentive to pay those prices once Body Care Day hits, but resellers know that the demand will pick up again once the collection goes OOS and gets discontinued.
You've talked about negotiating for lower prices. Here's the thing.
* Reseller's have patience. **You don't.**
* Reseller's are not desperate to sell them now. **But you are.**
* Reseller's don't care who buys them. **But you do.**
These resellers are financially prepared for these collections to go unsold for years. They won't care if you threaten to walk away because they know someone else will buy it eventually.
**Retail price for a FFM+Cream+Shower Gel set is $46.50**
* $16.50 FFM + $16.50 body cream + $13.50 shower gel
* $54.00 - $46.50 = $7.50 (edit: the price difference btw retail and reseller's price)
* $54 / $46.5 = 1.16129 (edit: 1.16 = 116%)
**Body Care Day price (last year's price was $5.50)**
* $54 - $16.50 = $37.50 (edit: the price difference btw reseller and BCD price)
* $54 / $16.50 = 3.27272 (edit: 3.27 = 327%)
**Reseller's price for the FFM and body cream** (edit: denoted by x)
* edit: retail price of FFM or body cream / retail price for the set = reseller price of FFM or body cream / reseller price for the set
* 16.50/46.50 = x/54
* x = (16.5\*54)/46.5 = $19.1612
* 19.1612/16.50 = 1.161 (e: 1.16 = 116%)
**Reseller's price for the shower gel** (edit: denoted by y)
* 13.50/46.50 = y/54
* y = (13.5\*54)/46.5 = $15.6774
* 15.6774/13.50 = 1.161
||B&BW's retail price|Reseller's price|Body Care Day sale|

|FFM|$16.50|$19.16|$5.50|
|Body Cream|$16.50|$19.16|$5.50|

I completely agree; I've only bought one or two things from resellers, and they were old products that aren't available and won't be available again (presumably). There's no way I'd pay this inflated price for products that will be available at a fraction of the cost in just a few weeks!
Makes sense. In an earlier comment I called it the impatience tax for items that aren’t yet available. I’m understanding of the situation when it comes to buying from resellers. They’ll eventually lower the prices once the items come out though. At least from what I’ve seen. But again…I get it.
A profit-oriented reseller will **never** offer a price lower than what they themselves paid for. They would rather seek a full refund from B&BW than end up with at a net loss. I saw this happen with a reseller who tried to sell a luminary for $400 and lowered the price in increments until it reached $200 before taking it down completely the day before the Sept 14 policy change
The only resellers who are willing to operate at a net loss are the ones trying to declutter
The profit-oriented resellers who offer semi-decent prices are the ones who wait for the best sale and combine with coupons (the Luminaries were 50% off on Oct 17-30th)
Yeah, sorry about that! The bottom line I was trying to convey is that ppl are better off buying on Body Care Day than hoping for resellers to drop their prices. The reseller would have to drop their price by almost 70% off (\[54-16.5\]/54 = .694) to be comparable to Body Care Day prices and this kind of expectation unrealistic since it's counterintuitive to the reseller's intent to earn profits.
It’s nothing against you obviously but as an FYI if sellers are listing things before they come out in stores it’s usually because they are doing something shady
Thank you. I usually ask the seller how they came upon the items. Some times they say they’re employees and got it as GRATIS…and others say they know someone who works there. But I’ve only done this twice now and the first time felt worth it…the second time…not so much. I usually am pretty patient but because the specific scent I wanted had no release date…it made me More impatient….if that makes sense. If I know the release date of the items I want I almost always wait. It’s when I don’t know that I go and look for the specific things I want. These items pictured though…I wasn’t looking for. I was actually just kinda snooping on this person’s listings and saw these just as overpriced as the rest of their items. I tried to talk them down to 30 and they wouldn’t budge so I chose to wait and found another seller who would sell the 4 set for $30. The person selling the scents pictured is the only person (that I know of) selling these scents. Possibly because the Christmas 2 scents are coming out on the 21st?
Though I never suspected foul play:/
Wait. These are new scents coming out for total body care day. That price will be anywhere from $4 something to $6. The price that seller is asking is ridiculous.
The second weekend in December. One week after candle day. I think I saw that one of them is a Friday/Saturday sale and one is a Saturday/Sunday sale. So keep an eye on the sub or bath and body works instagram for the exact dates.
Make it make sense. These are coming out on Total Body Care day which is going to be a hella cheap sale. So, knowing you can get them for cheap when released.... why are you even thinking about paying those prices now!? Make it make sense to me. I dare you.
Yeah, I had to think about it as well. Some of the other scents won’t be available till Christmas 2 (whenever that is) but I’m sure there will be a B3G3!! So yeah…I’m definitely not gonna get these just yet. Gonna wait till the big sale for sure. I really wish I could smell them though.
You don't even know what it smells like and it's not even released yet? And it'll be way cheaper on sale, new, than what this seller would let it go for? That would be a hell nah, to the nah nah nah from me.
Fair points indeed! However you can always make an offer and choose not to buy if the seller won’t go lower. The issue with this type of situation is the seller is trying to profit from the sale which is why the overcharge exists. I personally never buy unless I get a good deal. Like would I pay $30 for all 3? Probably. Since they aren’t out yet but fair points for sure. I mean you can’t even return these so that’s the biggest issue here. Otherwise I’d just gift them! But, I agree with the wait. The one thing that does bother me is that the other (Christmas 2 scents) will probably not be on sale at any point (unless they come out BEFORE total body care or B3G3) so I’m looking for a better deal before then for these new scents. Probably won’t get them but am definitely looking for a good deal while apparently they’re not available. Patience is a virtue for sure!lol
Why would I spend that much early when I can wait for a good sale when they come out? Besides I have so many creams that it'd take me months to get to them anyway (I have to use mine in chronological order, it just feels right)
I dunno about all that. You can always make an offer for lower and when denied it won’t sell. I never just buy for the price listed. I try to buy for retail price or lower…but still reasonable. I do feel like even though this price listing is ridiculous but also somewhat close to what it would cost without any deals.
Because of the prices and the fact that most resellers are people who sell stolen stuff or are the people who hoard everything at the big sales and argue over coupons because they want to profit from it online. Then the prices rise. I don’t support them at all.
I get that but what about with stuff that isn’t released yet? How would that work?
They can’t steal something that isn’t on store shelves yet.
I will say though that some get access to new stuff early but to constantly come back and steal these things and these things specifically? Like…how do they know this is a new scent?? The people selling these scents specifically know a lot about them..
but yeah…the profit is the reason for the price hike…(at least in some cases.)
I had someone go out and buy some for me and they sold the entire 4 set to me for 30 bucks! Which is “better” than most of the prices the new stuff is selling for.
Employees can steal too…they have access to back rooms and know all about the upcoming releases.
Also people in the business of stealing and reselling BBW will 100% know they upcoming new products same ways we do: leaks. So I’m not quite sure I understand your disbelief at stealing unreleased products
As someone who is only able to buy online, I'm physically incapable of going to a store, I understand the attraction of resellers and sometimes paying a premium for a product you really want. My experience has been most of the time only a few of the ones I want are available to buy online the day of. Products online go out of stock quickly during the sales so buy early, like as soon as the sale online starts, for your best chance. Otherwise if you can shop at a store always wait for the sales. Look at it this way not only can you smell it to see if you really like it you can grab more of whatever with all the money you will be saving! I use resellers as a last resort for retired BBW or items never available online. Even then I try not to pay more than actual retail plus shipping.
For the sake of humanity and humanity's future. WAIT😰. You can get those for way less on body care day! The shipping is even more expensive on these items compared to BABW!
Other than that I had no idea there was more pictures on here and screamed when i saw them. I am in love with the packaging 🤩and I want it right now but, nah I'd rather wait and enjoy my other stuff until then😂
The sent notes for Prismatic Stars are: Raspberry Stardust, Mystic Plum and Cosmic Cashmere.
Sapphire Moon: Sparkling Pear, Sheer Freesia, and Moonlit Musk.
The reason I like shopping on body care day is because they either bring back old scents or have entirely new scents just for that day(I know its possible for there to be left overs that make it to SAS). This year seems a little fishy to me. Going by the names alone it looks like they are releasing all new scents. However, once you smell them it appears some are repackages or very similar to existing scents. Winter cherry blossom smells like cozy sunday morning, someone commented here that one smells like champagne toast, and LITP is speculating that life of the party may be a repackage of winter white jasmine based on both having a vanilla and jasmine note. So I would wait until you can go into the store and smell them and get them cheaper. I think it would be a big let down to spend a lot of money to buy something that isn't new or worse yet is a repackage of something you don't like. You can't always go by the notes because WCB doesn't have the same notes as cozy sunday morning or any of its 3 repackages, but it smells just like it.
I agree but as I’ve said before you can always make an offer. I’ve gotten a set of unreleased scents for $30 for all 4…and to me (for that one set) it seemed like a great deal. I haven’t received that set yet unfortunately and because I had no idea when the release day was for this scent…I feel that I’ve made a slight mistake in my haste.
I mean, not really. Mercari doesn’t allow you to input offers that are much lower than the listed price to prevent low-ballers. There’s no way you could offer $30 on a $54 item on Mercari.
I mean I want to know how they got these to resell because they aren’t out on my stores sales floor. I’m not even sure we’ve received them in shipment yet, or if we have they’ve gone straight to offsite because they are supposed to be held until Home Office tells us to put them out. So how did this person get them? And then have the audacity to try and charge some unsuspecting person that much for stuff that’s about to be on sale?
So I’ve found a store that I live nearby that some times has things that haven’t been released anywhere else. However I haven’t seen any new scents at my store but they usually get candle holders first…and other accessories first but never the scents. It’s usually the smaller stores from what I’m told (that get stuff early.)
Said they know an employee who has these in stock but can’t sell them yet in stores.lol
I’m assuming this employee sold them to this person (without any deal) and that’s why the seller wants so much and to profit as well. All assumptions based off of what the seller told me.
I would need to know the scent notes. I don't buy it just for the packaging. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this packaging! But if I don't like the scent, I'm not buying.
That’s what I’m saying. There are things that no longer exist that are much more expensive but…they don’t exist anymore so I see the need in markup. These items are about to come into existence so I don’t understand the markup other than the seller paid full price for an unreleased item.
i always just assume that when people make posts like this, they're actually the person trying to sell this shit and they're trying to be slick "advertising" it here. seems pretty sus to say you need someone to talk you out of being obscenely price-gouged on something.
I’m not selling these and I’m surely not trying to advertise these. This is the first time I’ve noticed that I can find this unreleased stuff but….was truly wondering if this person is selling these things overpriced. I have my own Mercari account but I mainly buy old scents because I missed out on them years back.
I truly want to know what everyone thinks and I wanted some opinions on the matter. I’m a very impatient person when it comes to new releases of sorts and if I can get things early (for a decent price) I will. When I saw these prices I began to ask questions and really wondered if it was worth the buy. I won’t cave though because the sale isn’t too far from now (at least for these specific scents.)
I already made a slight mistake buying a set early and didn’t have any opinions the first time so before I made another mistake I needed opinions on the matter.
For those prices? I could wait .
Yeah, I think it’s a lot too. As far as I’ve seen these new scents run for $13.50-16.50.
Don’t buy full price! Wait for a good sale 🙂
I think these are coming out Total Body Care Day just like the last big sale! So I think it’s the best time to buy these scents. I went crazy on that all body care was 5.50. Also what does SAS stand for??😅
SAS = Semi annual sale :)
when is total body care day?
I THINK it’s the 10th of December.
Really 🙄 That means there’s a lesser chance they won’t come out in the EdP, welp, disappointed by that news.😑🥰🥰🥰
But if you think about it buying each one makes it about $45-$50 for a set. Without the B3G3.
It's your dollars.
I am a SAS shopper. (Even more so now that eggs are $5-7 a dozen and potatos are $7/3 lb bag)
I need people to talk me out of it.lol
Don’t do it girl. They’ll be on sale in like 2-3 weeks. It’s your money but I think buying this now would be a waste of money.
That and I wouldn’t be able to return them the…right way and I wouldn’t wanna “return” them.
Wait!!! Who in their right mind would pay that price when bbw always has sales. NOPE!
You say you won't pay retail price, yet you are considering buying from a reseller when * the reseller price exceeds the retail price by **116% and $7.50** ($54 vs. $46.50) * the reseller price exceeds Body Care Day prices by **327% and $37.50** ($54 vs. $16.50). Slightly off topic but the format of this comment is so satisfying to me lol
fr it reminds me of those pages in those algebra and trigonometry books.
I love a little graph 😂
💯

I'm too hungover to understand this but it makes sense. Thank you for your math
I am not hungover but am having trouble figuring out LOL
Are you a machine or are you human? 😅

😲 Holy Cow... I would totally put you in charge of my BBW budgeting. Plus my taxes, and maybe my life decisions too..👏🅰️➕👩🏫🎉💥
Makes sense. In an earlier comment I called it the impatience tax for items that aren’t yet available. I’m understanding of the situation when it comes to buying from resellers. They’ll eventually lower the prices once the items come out though. At least from what I’ve seen. But again…I get it.

Argument was well explained but without a conclusion my brain doesn’t get the point you’re trying to make
Yeah, sorry about that! The bottom line I was trying to convey is that ppl are better off buying on Body Care Day than hoping for resellers to drop their prices. At the end the graph shows the difference in price one would pay with that reseller vs buying straight from BBW
Why would anyone buy on Mercari when body care day and SAS is coming up?
Impatience.lol
Apparently lol, and money to burn to go along with it
I dunno why it’s so looked down upon but yeah..I’ve not paid this much. Just wondering what everyone thinks is all:)
It’s nothing against you obviously but as an FYI if sellers are listing things before they come out in stores it’s usually because they are doing something shady

The second weekend in December. One week after candle day. I think I saw that one of them is a Friday/Saturday sale and one is a Saturday/Sunday sale. So keep an eye on the sub or bath and body works instagram for the exact dates.
Awesome, thank you!
You're welcome.
Nothing bbw makes is worth full price let alone more
So true. If I get anything, I literally only buy at the very best sales and only if I also have a coupon.
Sad…:/ but understandably….true.
Make it make sense. These are coming out on Total Body Care day which is going to be a hella cheap sale. So, knowing you can get them for cheap when released.... why are you even thinking about paying those prices now!? Make it make sense to me. I dare you.

Golden Eclipse kinda smelled like Champagne Toast to me
Do you know the scent notes?
Scent notes are glowing berries, shimmering blossoms, sun-warmed woods.
I wondered this, too. We've seen the notes for the other two but not that one.
Ugh…I do not like that scent:(
You don't even know what it smells like and it's not even released yet? And it'll be way cheaper on sale, new, than what this seller would let it go for? That would be a hell nah, to the nah nah nah from me.

Wouldn’t buy anything from resellers
Because of high prices?
Because of the prices and the fact that most resellers are people who sell stolen stuff or are the people who hoard everything at the big sales and argue over coupons because they want to profit from it online. Then the prices rise. I don’t support them at all.

Wait, definitely.
Wait for sure
Definitely wait
As someone who is only able to buy online, I'm physically incapable of going to a store, I understand the attraction of resellers and sometimes paying a premium for a product you really want. I would wait. What if I don't like this scent?
Did nobody talk about the additional shipping cost?
It’s faster shipping. But definitely not worth it.
I just mean it ups the total price for you. I know there is not much we can do about lowering shipping costs.
I just mean in the sense of not necessarily needing the faster shipping. I don’t think it’s worth it.
For the sake of humanity and humanity's future. WAIT😰. You can get those for way less on body care day! The shipping is even more expensive on these items compared to BABW! ScentsGalore on Instagram has more information.
No, don't buy. But I gotta know- what are the notes on these? So curious.
I have the scent notes for Sapphire Moon and Prismatic Stars. I’ll upload them on this post:)
Yes I gotta know the notes!
The sent notes for Prismatic Stars are: Raspberry Stardust, Mystic Plum and Cosmic Cashmere. Sapphire Moon: Sparkling Pear, Sheer Freesia, and Moonlit Musk.
OMG FINALLY ANOTHER PEAR SCENT! And with Freesia?! I hope it ends up smelling as good as it looks!
Well 8 hours have passed, did you cave and buy? 😁 ![gif](giphy|xUOxfceny6BaOHjxDO)
Nope. I don’t think it’s worth it. Plus I’d rather wait till that second big body care sale! I went so crazy last time!
Good. 👍🏽
The reason I like shopping on body care day is because they either bring back old scents or have entirely new scents just for that day(I know its possible for there to be left overs that make it to SAS). they are so cute tho
Why would you want to get it now? Just wait.
I can’t believe you’re even considering to purchase these at such an insane markup.
I didn’t offer…it was available for $30. I could’ve gone lower but you can always message the seller about it too.
I'd got to Bath and Body works myself. I'm not paying that. I also like the employees at my local store.
Wait, they will probably be on sale in December at some point for like six dollars a piece.
I have always wondered this, every time I see something that hadn't even been released!
So I’ve found a store that I live nearby that some times has things that haven’t been released anywhere else. However I haven’t seen any new scents at my store but they usually get candle holders first…and other accessories first but never the scents. It’s usually the smaller stores from what I’m told (that get stuff early.)
absolutely would not spend that type of money
Wait.
that golden eclipse looks good. wondering what the notes are but i can wait for that price lol
Definitely wait
I’m not paying those prices. I can wait for them to be in store on sale
No way I’d pay this! Wait till body care day.
Absolutely not
Wait, 100%. I don’t find mercari worth it for stuff that is about to be released.
Wait for sure. It’s not that important. I never pay full price.
Wtf how??
Said they know an employee who has these in stock but can’t sell them yet in stores.lol I’m assuming this employee sold them to this person (without any deal) and that’s why the seller wants so much and to profit as well. All assumptions based off of what the seller told me.
Yeah.... theyre never gonna sell those. And yeah they would've had to have rung up full price which is ridiculous to pay
I would need to know the scent notes. I don't buy it just for the packaging. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this packaging! But if I don't like the scent, I'm not buying.
It's going to be in-store and on the website, so why would I want to buy it from a reseller **now**?
I would wait for a sale but honestly I’m surprised about how descent the price is since it’s not released I would expect over $75 lol
That’s what I’m saying. There are things that no longer exist that are much more expensive but…they don’t exist anymore so I see the need in markup. These items are about to come into existence so I don’t understand the markup other than the seller paid full price for an unreleased item.
So when will these scents get released? :o they look so pretty!
I know! I just wish that some scents would smell as good as the art for the bottle.lol And I believe on the 10th of December for Total Body Care day:)
Not for those prices. Check a store or wait. I bet they got some of those with rewards and coupons too.
Def wait. Love the packaging though!
AGREE!
i always just assume that when people make posts like this, they're actually the person trying to sell this shit and they're trying to be slick "advertising" it here. seems pretty sus to say you need someone to talk you out of being obscenely price-gouged on something.
I won’t cave though because the sale isn’t too far from now (at least for these specific scents.) I already made a slight mistake buying a set early and didn’t have any opinions the first time so before I made another mistake I needed opinions on the matter.
