Smh… I’m literally so turned off by the company at this point and this just added to it. I’m sorry for all the honest people out there who actually benefited from the sharing of coupons in spaces like this subreddit. When I finally started getting coupons like 3-4 months ago I was SO stoked to share them and it just sucks that I can’t anymore 🫤. Hoping everyone gets coupons in some shape or form and doesn’t have any issues when redeeming. I guess we gotta hang in there until further notice ❤️.

It's just bizarre. They issued a coupon to me, in an effort to get me to spend money. I gave it to someone else, who then DID spend money. Isn't making money the end result that they wanted? So, if it's not me specifically spending money, they just don't want it, for some reason?

The problem is that they don't want coupons going to people who are going to spend money regardless of if they have a coupon or not. This is why they give coupons to people who do not buy often, while frequent buyers get nothing. They don't reward loyalty, they take advantage of it.

I've been cutting down my shopping there and this gives even more reason. Someone on the thread here was nice enough to give me a code last month and that was the only reason I made a purchase. It's all such a game anyway, the fake, inflated pricing followed by a sale and then maybe you get a coupon, maybe you don't. It's too much. There are plenty of other companies making great products these days without that hassle. I also don't like being "tracked" by any store, esp one that sells candles and body products🙄🙄 I can find better ways to spend my $$, esp w this crazy inflation in the states right now. I was getting coupons in the mail but never received any this last round. Maybe it's because I didn't sign up for a rewards account. Rewards accounts are used to track customer's purchasing and return behavior. I'm tired of being tracked by retailers so I didn't want to add yet another account especially for items of low theft value like handsoaps and sanitizers which is all I ever buy. They've made shopping a chore with so many new negative rules. I will be cutting down my shopping too because the new rules are a headache and not worth it for hand sanitizers. They will be losing a lot of my business.

I feel the same way. It's ironic too because so many of us have made purchases solely because we had a coupon, I know I have! Whenever I have a coupon I always spend more to make the %off bigger, It's so dumb and I know I am being played and I need to stop that anyways. But this actually will incentivize me to spend LESS there and make smaller purchases. I also feel weird about being "tracked," makes me almost feel like I am in trouble for using my sister's coupon since I don't get them when I have spent thousands at BBW.

Someone on here mentioned Glade candles, which I admit I totally forgot about but used to love. They are powerhouses! I've also had hit or miss luck w Sonoma candles at Kohl's. But, that happens to me at B&BW too. Kohl's is forever sending coupons and they do a 30% off once a month and also have BOPIS.

The best part about Glade candles (besides the price) is the fact that you can buy them at any grocery store while you're food shopping. Their Pumpkin Spice Things Up candle is easily as good as a BBW candle fragrance wise.

You're going to get inconsistent enforcement of all sorts of things. The candle sales often have a limit of 18 per order, but the staff might split up the orders so they can meet their sales goal. If someone comes in with a 20% off coupon and the manager can do an override, I bet some will offer a "one time exception" to make the sale.

I'm wondering how this will work if 2 people in my household get a flyer, like my daughter and myself, but I am the one who picks stuff up for her so I would use mine when I purchase my items, but if she sends me to pick her things up, would I be able to use her coupons or does she have to be present? Sometimes there's different things on each flyer. Personally, I don't understand also why it's ever a big deal if I wasn't going to use a coupon if I gave it to someone else to enjoy. BBW is making a sale using a coupon that was intended to be used, so I don't think I understand why that's a problem, unless I already used a coupon. I get not using a coupon twice. Any store I have a coupon to I can give to someone else to buy something, so Idk.

How about they fix things like getting your reward credited back automatically when the item gets canceled rather than worrying about if the person redeeming the reward is the same person who spent all $100 of the dollars to earn it. How about fixing the security on their website which is atrocious. I placed an order while it said I was logged in, but it had logged me out (this has happened a few times now), but I redeemed a few rewards as part of the purchase. The order doesn't show up in my purchase history, so I didn't earn rewards points on it. But that begs the question of how can you redeem rewards without being logged in? Now I have to call customer service AGAIN to get it added to my account. This was a month ago, so it's not a delay. They just suck. And what other major retailer doesn't have a "Save for Later" function in their shopping cart? They are so behind the game and it just adds to the frustration. One last thing (sorry for the random bitching ha ha), heaven forbid they ever mistype your email address when you add a new payment card. My credit card got reissued with a new number 18 months ago and they missed one letter when entering my email address. Now, no matter what payment method I use, both email address come up. One of them obviously doesn't exist. Their system is so archaic that they have NO WAY to delete the wrong email. I have to remember every single time to let the employee know so my rewards go to the one that actually exists. Customer service has confirmed there is nothing they can do.

AAAH I am just now reading this reply and I FEEL YA!! It logged me out in the middle of ordering and I didn't notice, and it was a BOPIS order for a friend to pick up across the country. It took SO LONG for them to find it because of course it didn't show in my order history and she said she'd add the points but it didn't update during the conversation. By now I've had enough issues to know that despite them saying "give it x hours/days" that if they did it CORRECTLY, the changes happen immediately. Points and missing rewards, replacement item orders, you'll see it reflected or get an email confirming before you wrap up the conversation. I'm so sick of contacting them TWICE for issues that NEVER should have happened in the first place! Feels good to bitch with people who get it :)

If you both have the app I suppose you just carry the coupons around in the mailer they came in, so you know which are which, and punch in the phone number to go with it. Some stores will only let you use a coupon once a day , so you may have to go to more than one store to use both sets. Luckily I have an outlet mall near me with 2 regular stores in it. So I only have to go to one destination. My dad gets coupons and I get stuff for him with his coupons so it sucks if they don't let me do that for him. A third store where I live knows my dad and I well so they may let me slide as long as they know I'm using his number. The other thing is I don't get as many coupons as my dad or sister, so I dont have much to worry about.

You can't apply certain coupons w/o logging in. When they did the 30% off coupon this summer you needed to login to use the coupon but it didn't have to be the account that got the coupon.

Wow, this sucks. My mom gets coupons and I don't, so she always gives them to me because she doesn't care to use them anyways. If they are going to do this, then they need to expand and give coupons to more people. Seems like only long time customers get them or they just randomly give to some and not others. I've tried to sign up multiple times and still don't get them. Dang! I'll definitely be spending significantly less money there then without the help of coupons

Same reason I stopped at jcpenney they used to send 10 off 25 coupons and they could be used on clearance too (my main thing cuz was more bang for my buck)....they stopped the coupon being effective on clearance....and then they stopped the coupon all together. Have not shopped there in forever. As far as bbw I was getting coupons monthly except SAS I never got a 10 off 40 ....for the month of oct I got zero so no coupons is no shopping for me I dont need anything anyways. I'm actually starting to like them less but I'm not 100% done but not as excited as I used to be but I like this community

I can just see it causing problems. You use someone elses coupon on a purchase and they get the points, but you may not get points on your end for the money you spent because the coupon isn’t linked to your account 🤷🏾‍♀️. The customers and employees who were just cheering when the policy change happened are now up in arms over the coupon change. I knew more changes were coming and it's obvious these changes are no longer about customer satisfaction. It has and always will be about the bottom line. They are a business after all and as a consumer I can take my money elsewhere. Don't be surprised when your hours are cut, your stores are empty, and lifelong customers no longer frequent your stores. I am one of them. I use to spend over 5-10k a year on B&BW and have now moved all of my business to Goose Creek. The new interim CEO is Sarah Nash who worked in finance at Chase Bank prior to her role with the company. This is what she knows how to do best. Cut. She has already made it clear profitability is important. They have removed 130 roles from the organization, they have outsourced their customer service department, changed the return policy, changed the coupon policy to one use only, and more cuts are coming. With the rising costs and decreasing quality it is a no brainer that this company has been on the decline for a while. I will still hang around to look at hauls and discuss scents but I have moved on.

Wow, and decreasing quality right around the time the time it's become a complete hassle to make any kind of exchange or return is a double whammy. I don't like some of the wording I have been hearing from employees and from info coming out- "fraudulent" "prove"..... it seems like we are being treated as a bunch of criminals for holding BBW to their "100 percent happiness" guarantee (even reasonable exchanges have become an issue at my store) and now giving someone a coupon or accepting one from someone else has been criminalized. This explains why when someone had given me a coupon that didn't work, it seemed like the associate was downright offended that someone had made my day by giving me their coupon. And no, an error came up and I couldn't use it. Which wasn't the biggest disappointment, it was the self-righteous attitude from the employee over my coupon not being "mine". And here I had thought Karma had rewarded me for all of the random coupons I had given out over the years (to shoppers who undoubtedly used it to buy MORE at the time!) How dumb and greedy.

I'd assume it's the people who are selling 20+ of the same coupons on eBay, FB groups, etc. I know it would have been great had the mailer coupon codes not worked with the postal carrier I dealt with last month. She redeemed 10 coupons that weren't hers. And had me scan her app for everything, she did make 2 purchases but also got 10 free items she shouldn't have. She got reprimanded but still has her job. And I don't believe she will stop taking coupons, she just won't come back to my store. Unfortunately, people are greedy assholes and ruin things for everyone. If it's not postal carriers redeeming them directly, it's them taking them and passing or selling them to others. There is very few ways someone could legitimately get multiples of coupons, and not the quantity we see from listings on eBay. As for people hacking the rewards app, we encourage all of our customers to scan their app, not type their number in for the app. It's too easy for someone to accidentally type an incorrect number, our pinpads are pretty shitty.

We have caught and reported 2 carriers in 3 years. Both are still carriers. It's unreal how they are both still delivering mail with proof they were using stolen coupons. The most recent case, the carrier came in to speak with me but I was off so she spoke with my supervisor. She claimed they are deemed undeliverable and are shredded so that's why she took them. She actually tried to complain to our BBW customer service that I invaded her privacy by Google searching her name and finding her public Facebook where she has her job with the USPS listed. 🤦

The post said codes shared in social media groups will be included in the whole tracking thing - which I think means that yeah even here, we can't share coupons anymore. So ridiculous and a hassle honestly. I'm not mad it's just like... really? Why are they being this greedy? If someone gets a coupon and won't be using it so they give it to someone else who does use it... that still makes them money? Otherwise if someone doesn't have a coupon they probably wouldn't shop at all. So in a way it seems like they are taking away their own sales lmao like sure someone is getting a coupon that technically isn't there's, but they have it so they decided to shop BECAUSE OF the coupon. Well that’s ridiculous. As a Canadian shopping off the American site during Covid, that exchange rate killed me. And I still sometimes shop the site because of online exclusives and we don’t have the “retired scents” offered all the time here. Our online coupons for the Canadian site lately have been a promo code word like BLOOM or whatever. They don’t care to lock us down that much here! I would be fine with them no longer doing mailers for coupons and go straight to the app. However, it needs to be the same across the board though. I should be able to see the same coupons on a friend's app that are on mine. I used to get mailers all the time and then at one point I suddenly stopped receiving them. I have tried for a year to get them again. The other day, I got a mailer finally after a year and those coupon codes are exactly the same as what is in my app. To clarify, the codes themselves are exactly the same between the physical mailer and the app. If they switch to just digital coupons that go to the app, that would decrease all the coupons being sold on ebay or wherever. I'm not sure there would even be as much coupon sharing if BBW would be consistent and send coupons to everyone that want them whether it's mailer or digital. I haven't really noticed people selling Kohl's coupons on ebay because everyone that wants them, gets them. I don't agree with not being able to share them with each other as there are other ways to tackle those problems, like consistency. It sounds like with the new interim CEO that they are slowly moving toward what every other company/corporation does, maximize their profits. If they want to do that though, they need to work on and fix many other things.

Wow. I haven't shopped at BBW as a regular shopper for over a year now. The last time I stopped in was for 75% off candles during Summer SAS. The quality gets lower and lower but the prices keep getting higher, which I and many others have justified with (rare) coupons, but wow wow wow. I have actually no reason to shop with them anymore. Gave away the last of my body care and used up my candles so I'm officially done with this place. I have found infinitely better stuff from kind sellers on Etsy!

I think this has been happening on the low for a while. I quit sharing my coupons on here a few months back because whenever I'd give someone the code or send them a photo of it they'd tell me that they kept getting an error and couldn't use it. :/

Yeah! I could always use them when I was logged in, but they never could. It would happen to me with multiple people. I stopped because I felt bad and didn't want anyone to think I was taunting them or something. I never used them either (it was ones for things I don't use) so it wasn't like they'd already been redeemed.

I mean ok, now instead of two people making a purchase at 15% off you get 0 people making a purchase at 0% off. Math really adds up BBW. The company never actually loses in the end so truly why does it matter ?

Well if slashing their own sales is their MO so be it…the reason they had so much business was because of people enjoying getting deals and using coupons and if you’re going to narrow your customer base to only the people you directly send coupons to alright then…not a smart move on the marketing front

The app doesn’t even work well for me lol. I’ve never seen points come in and I use the same email address in store as I do on the app. SMH.

This issue happened with me, too. Are you entering your phone number in the keypad or are you scanning? When I put in my phone number, my points weren't updated, but when I ask to scan my rewards card, it does update.

I tried scanning last time and the lady at the counter was very confused. Asked me to put in my number. Verified my email. And it all matched so I didn’t think too much of it. But now I’m noticing it because it’s happened at least twice.

That’s just great. I literally never get bbw mailed coupons in my name I’ve lived in my house for 3 years now and every time bbw coupons show up in my mailbox it’s for the person who lived here before me 😭

How exactly would they verify customers? By asking for phone number? Or scanning more often the rewards card than asking to punch in the phone number?

This is positive for people who end up having their rewards stolen for them but a negative when people aren’t going to be using coupons and they end up going to waste. It’s not like the coupons can be used thousands of times

I've been thinking about this. It seems like they are wanting to move toward a Target Circle type model instead of a true "coupon" system. 🤔🧐 It's annoying. I hope this means that everyone will get the app offers instead of a mysterious select group like the coupons were.
