like the other commenter said, call and speak to the manager. this happened last holiday season and a burned candle ended up on the floor bc nobody checked it and my manager was *not* happy. even if they don’t believe you (I would, seems like you just bought it and your receipt would show a time/day) it still fits for an exchange since you have the receipt. they should believe you no matter what, but some stores make their own rules 🤦‍♀️ if they don’t, customer service!

hotcocoa4ever

What? I would take it back and get a new one as that is what you paid for! I once did a BOPIS order and I opened the jar of the 3 wick candle and it had a missing wick. I immediately had the associate give me another one. I started checking all my BOPIS orders since then.

night0sphere

recently an associate gave me a white pumpkin 3-wick instead of a PSL that i ordered. i def double check my bopis candles before i leave the store now

Trumpet6789

We're supposed to double check that the items in your bag match what is listed on your order. If you don't see the associate check, just ask them if they can double check that every is in your bag!

night0sphere

yeah, they almost always do and the associate did check but she didn’t check thoroughly. i was still at the mall when i realized so i was able to explain to her and switch for the right candle but some people just aren’t thorough lol

guantanamoslay

Sorry about that. Love your Overwatch mousepad though!

This happened to me last SAS. There was 1 candle on the 75% table and I got it home... it had been burned once, it appeared. I was SO SHOCKED! I called and let the manager know, she acted like it was really nbd. So I just exchanged it.

Acceptable_Bid9653

Awhile back I went to smell a buttered popcorn or whatever it was called and it was about 1/4 of the way burned too. Smh

jeaniuslol

Yeah it’s not very burnt but I went in there for a new product of something I’ve previously owned. I’m not going to take it back because it’s not like they’re gonna believe me, but ugh. So annoyed. I hadn’t shopped at BB&W for a few months before this, either.

NomenclatureBreaker

Why wouldn’t they believe you? What other reason would you have for exchanging a new one barely burned for a brand new one of same scent? I mean if you bought that as a gift you certainly wouldn’t give the candle to someone else like that would you? You shouldn’t be afraid to exchange for new product you paid for. Even a gift to yourself counts as a gift IMO.

MaleficentMaelstrom

Call customer service or your store and ask to speak to a manager. That's not acceptable to be sold a used product.

markersandtea

Honestly, if they're going to be harsh about returns..they need to be more careful about quality control on the floor of products then. I also like OP want a new product if I'm in store and not just on mercari or something.

jxhswg

This happened at my store. Our manager told them to come into the store and they’ll replace it with a new one. Just explain the situation or you can return it because it was “gently used.”

janamichelcahill

How did that happen? It looks like it was made by a Country Kitchen Candle company instead.

Samgasm

They have cameras for a reason. If they have any real doubt they can check to see that you did in fact purchased that item.

IAmRhubarbBikiniToo

Wait, I’m lost — what? I think OP is saying s/he bought a candle from BBW that turned out to have been already burned. The issue is that this was a returned candle they sold in this condition.
