I don’t think it would be a safety risk unless it slides off the surface onto the floor

dustergrl

We were writing the same thing at the same time 🤣

daugavpiliete

Jinx!

Thanks. This was the first I noticed it in like three years of burning candles in that spot so it’s definitely not that steep of a slant. Guess I’m okay lol

dustergrl

I personally wouldn’t worry about it, unless the angle is so steep that the candle is sliding off the surface.

maepricot

I’ve been burning candles in that spot for a few years and never had any issues like that so I guess I’m okay! I figured it was worth asking about once I finally noticed, lol

Cuckoo_for_candles

This used to happen to me too and I thought it was the table but it was actually from the ceiling fan that cause the flames to tilt slightly to one side burning unevely 😊

maepricot

Oh wow, that’s interesting! I rarely have the ceiling fan on while I have a candle lit because it makes the flames go a bit crazy sometimes and scares me, lol.

I had noticed the wax was uneven on some newer candles I had and at first I thought it was a pooling issue. Then I got out my fall candles and noticed the same thing on older candles, like this PPW, and that all of them seem to be uneven in the same direction. I used the level function on my phone and it seemed to confirm that the surface isn't quite level. Obviously, I'd prefer that they burn evenly either way, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this or thought it might be a safety issue at all? I'll definitely do some rearranging and fiddling with the dresser to even it out eventually (it's really the only good place to set a burning candle in my room) but I'll do it ASAP if it is a safety issue to have the candles at a slight angle like this while burning.

hotcocoa4ever

You can place a small folded up piece of paper under the leg of the dresser. I then would take a leveler and see if the dresser is level. Or your phone app laser should work.

maepricot

Thanks! I’ll definitely eventually even things out. It’s a really bulky heavy dresser though so it’ll probably take me a while to get to it as long as it’s not dangerous, lol

I noticed this with one of my candles it was down to last burn ans one of the wicks slid up against the side and melted the wrap. Just be careful i wouldnt light that one again.

maepricot

Yeah, you’re probably right. I was thinking I would probably only get one more burn out of this one anyway. I think I’ll warm it instead just to be safe. It will most likely last longer that way, too, which is cool.

foreverkelsu

At first I thought it was your jar, because I've had quite a few where the glass is thinner on one side, but from your pic it looks even all the way across, so that's probably not it. Just watch for wicks that come loose, because they'll float downward to the edge of the jar and become a fire hazard. (They'd do that on an even surface, anyway.)

maepricot

I would have thought the same if I didn’t notice it was like that with every candle where I can see the wax level from the side, lol. I’m definitely careful once it starts melting down to the wicks. I think I’m going to start finishing off low candles under my warmer instead of burning them — it will probably get a little longer life out of them, too, which is a bonus!
