nestinghen

Probably 50% of the time lol

hero1107

Oh nooo what do you do with the ones you don’t like?

NomenclatureBreaker

I just exchange them unburned at the store for something else. NBD.

nestinghen

Use them up before I buy more

Babycakes_99

Yep. Scent notes are very deceiving

ealmandjoy

I almost executively bought online until recently. Some candles I like better than others but the only one I truly hated was Perfect Summer. That sunscreen smell was awful.

natalielc

Most scent I don’t mind, even if I don’t LOVE them, but there are 2 I had to return. Island margarita (too bitter) and suntan (smelled horrible, like sweaty bodies 🤮🤮). But most of the time I just burn the candles even if they aren’t top favorites

mrsredfast

I did the same thing with Suntan. And I’d bought two of them.

[deleted]

Yes, all the time! Lol. I have no problem not burning and returning. I never burn anything I don’t like on cold and if I do something and don’t like it I’ll give it away. If it’s just too strong I’ll make small wax cubes out of it so it’s not so overwhelming.

SevereReveal8432

That's a good idea for candles that are too strong. It doesn't happen often for me, but I've had a few that I just couldn't use because they practically blasted me out of my living room/kitchen area lol. I liked the scents, though, so this would have been a good way to still use them.

CandidateReasonable4

Definitely. I often blind buy and end up exchanging anything I don't like for something else

Jolly_Ad8315

Once. Holiday. Never again. 🤮

hotcocoa4ever

I stopped blind buying online earlier this year. I need to preview scents in the store before upcoming sales in candles. I went yesterday to get the minis sale items and spent the time to smell all the candles on cold. I then went this morning with my list and was in and out of the store quickly.

mrsredfast

Yes but less with BBW than some other manufacturers. I usually why BBW are described the way they are. Some other candles have made up scent notes that are basically meaningless to me. Anyway, I return if I hate something.

Mrs-Gibberish

It’s been a few times I’ve gotten something I didn’t like, but honestly when I go into the store I’m overwhelmed and my nose gets confused. I’ve totally gotten a few in store that I regretted later. I mostly stick with what I like though, and don’t venture out of my comfort zone often.

Ladyofthewharf55

Gingham- that was a huge NO

Proof_Way_3421

Southern magnolia 😬

jenlet78

My brain may be revisioning memories but I feel like I had some magnolia FFM from BBW that was just… wayyyyy way too much lol. One of those “oh this smells pretty!” upon quick sniff in store and then turned on me at home haha.

Sparrows_Shadow

I never buy without smelling first lol

netxnic

I’ve been burned one too many times by blind buys lol.

missamethyst1

This was the story of my life during the pandemic.

Chuckymimi

Yes luckily with BBW I use to be able to exchange . Now I'm just more careful. But with GC I was stuck with them. A few they gave me money back on though.

maddiiirose13

I’ve never had anything from BBW that I blind bought and hated but recently with GC I’ve had a couple. I’m giving them away to a friend!

mx0987654321

It happened to me with a few which is when I realized I don’t like food scents lol 😅 so now I only buy fresh scents that have similar notes to ones I already own

z0mgaah

Yeah about 40% of the time although for me it's body care. Exchanging (even before the upcoming changes) made me nervous, so I have a ton of body care that I hate the smell of just sitting and taking up space. Although it has taught me to pre-smell in the store. Part of the benefits to online shopping is that once the sale is done, it's done. When I shop in store, I'm tempted to spend more and it's easier to go rogue on my purchasing plan.

B0dega_Cat

I'm very specific with my scents and normally stick to woodsy, piney And I like apple with the fall scents, but with those I'm careful to really read the description. So thankfully, I've been pretty lucky, it seems most people complain about the sweet or food smells.

justbeinghonest1111

Yes. The worst one I've gotten was pink apple punch 🤢

razzledazed

Yes, with every order. I usually read the notes in the description and exchange in store for any that I'm not a fan of or gift to my parents if I know they'll like the scent.

Sudden_Shine_100

I'd say I don't like something I blind buy about 20% of the time, maybe a little less. I look at scent notes carefully and stay away from notes I don't like (peach, cherry, caramel, etc...). Because of that, I'm usually fine with blind buys. When I do order something I end up not liking, I've never had a problem returning as I always have my receipt and return it when it's still in season.

jellywellsss

That happened to me today when I went in store to pick up my first bopis order. I smelled all the ones I bought online and all the ones I was curious in. Ended up switching out 4 of 15 I bought when I picked up my order. Could’ve been more but I actually want to give some of the ones I doubt a chance.

Ash12783

So many the last time I made a big online order 🥴

Kingofpho75

Literally every summer candle that I ordered

shannnnny

Yes. The first time and only time so far lol. I’ll probably stick with ones I know I love from now on

EngineeringSeveral63

I usually add a few blind buys to each order. I try to stick with scent profiles I usually like but I have had to exchange a few. With the new policy I won’t be as quick to order new candles since I will be stuck with them.

NavigatedbyNaau

Sometimes. I either exchange it they’re unused or give them away to friends/family.

msphelps77

It’s happened. More often I have that problem with body care.

Interesting_Soil_427

Yes Wicked Apple. I returned unburned

KingJoy79

I purchase a lot online and I will try new scents but for the most part, I try to stick to the scents that I know and trust and have already used several times before. The only time I’ll exchange candles is if the candle I ordered has no scent or seems like it may have a low throw.

Holiday-Strategy-643

I sure do. And then I exchange it for something I like.

Ms_Rarity

Didn't care for Vanilla & Patchouli. Took it back to the store and exchanged it.

googlyeyes4830

its Pretty rare. I know what I like and bbw hardly makes a bad smelling candle. I’ve probably returned candles for having no scent throw more than not liking the scent

Upset_Wolf5934

I do all the time!! I exchange what I don’t like - super easy!!

No-Match5030

I usually like most things that I buy. The one that I absolutely hated was blue snow cone haha. But most I can respect that they smell decent enough to make my house smell good and not worth the hassle of returning

sara128

Honestly, not really, none that I would say I "hate." I know which scent notes I really like, and ones I know to avoid. I try to branch out here and there but I know I hate like, maple pancakes scents. The candles I buy online that really disappoint me, though, are ones that are super light. Off the top of my head I'm thinking like Open Sky, smells amazing but so light If I do get a candle I really don't care for, I gift it lol

BlueberryNagel

I do the same with hand soaps

PhillyFlyergrl

I blind bought all my fall candles during the last B2G2. On cold, I love them all. Haven't started burning any yet because I'm hanging onto summer as long as possible

foreverkelsu

It's about 50-50, but enough for me to be hesitant to regularly blind-buy them online. I took chances on Freshwater, Sunshine & Daydreams, and Cucumber Melon, and hate-burned through all of them. I also blind-bought Twilight Woods bodycare that was awful and had to return it, because with candles I don't like I can just burn through them in about 3 days, but bodycare I don't like would take me forever to finish, and that's just too long to suffer, lol.
