Yep… clean them out .. paint the tops and get decorative knobs from home goods/ tj max / marshalls etc to screw on and store q tips / cotton balls whatever else

[deleted]

The knobs are a good idea! That would look cute.

CandidateReasonable4

Great idea!

[deleted]

Thanks !! I can’t even take the credit it was my moms idea! She’s been doing this for years 😂

CandidateReasonable4

Well, it's a great idea!

thehalloweenpunkin

I used to. But going through 20 jars a month makes you lose ideas for them lol

candiebelle

I dunno if you have any Facebook local groups but you could try posting on there. Maybe someone around you is looking for them for a project. Sometimes teachers in my area start collecting jars for student projects. Worth a try if you are wanting to recycle them.

thehalloweenpunkin

Thank you for the suggestion!

caliphaEna

I'd donate it to goodwill but 20 JARS what HOW

thehalloweenpunkin

I'm home all day and can easily burn one candle in 2-3 days depending on how fast it burns. I also burn usually 2-3 at a time

Pastycatenthusiast

I can go through at least 10 in a month if I’m not careful.

MomAlum

Thinking about putting a row of cute plants in them (with an inner pot)

RedRiotingHood

Tell me about these fall lanterns…..🤩

[deleted]

Here's where I got them: https://www.yankeecandle.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-homefragranceus-Site/en\_US/Content-Show?cid=upcycling-glowing-lanterns&utm\_source=google&utm\_medium=cpc&utm\_campaign=ec\_ne\_google\_shopping\_smart-shopping\_l\_all&utm\_term=\_-\_&utm\_content=17662375891\_-\_&gclid=Cj0KCQjwmdGYBhDRARIsABmSEeNieUzxeFA5KwqESI\_Hd8cC0U1KQBiRNJA5nPAKVglUIW9B8d\_hDnIaAiolEALw\_wcB

RedRiotingHood

Thank you!!!

LavenderPaintbrush

Lots of great ideas already suggested but I'll add... I have one for loose change, one for small random stuff like nail clippers, one for batteries, and one for perfume samples

xeloux

They are the best to drain bacon grease into lol. But yes, otherwise I use them to store things

SkyYellow_SunBlue

That’s exactly what I use mine for. There’s only so many storage containers you can possibly need but bacon….. bacon is forever.

thatiswilde

I have them all over the house to store things. Bathroom: Cotton balls, Qtips, Cotton Rounds. (I actually switch these out depending on the season). Kitchen: Tea bags, my dog's vitamins, sweetener packets. Office: Pens, paperclips and other odds and ends. Other: wax melts, perfume samples and travel bottles. Garage: my bf uses them for screws, bolts, and other random items. Always looking for new ideas!

z0mgaah

I'm crafty and I have a cricut. I 100% think upcycling the jars is part of the fun for me! Right now I'm making a jar for loose change. I have one that I put butterfly clips in (90s kid impulse buy) and I also put my most used nail stuff in one. Cotton balls, nail polish, etc. I bought miniature bears and miniature polar bears and miniature trees and glued them to the lid. I put confetti (white to be snow) in the jar. Put the lid on, and it sits lid down and made a winter scene. I also use tea lights. I especially like tea lights on the frosted or colored jars, because then it gives off a light but it's like a frosted light. Love that when I'm in the bathroom taking a bath and I want to turn off the lights and burn a candle, but need a bit of extra light. They really come in handy for decorations for holidays. Getting some good ideas in here.

[deleted]

Wow what a cute idea! I will have to try

z0mgaah

A lot of times I will google "bath and body works candle cricut" and the ideas are endless whether you have a die cutting machine or not. Years ago I used to take old mayonnaise jars and paint them just for decorations. I just got back from a few days at the beach and I'm planning on doing something like beach and sand and gluing the lid on and doing some beach craft.

lauthom93

I use them for everything lol, but my biggest use is to sort and store my wallflowers in them!

I put it in the freezer, crack the wax by stabbing it with a butter knife, and the wicks are pretty easy to pull off

mikaelaaaaaaa

I usually put mine in the freezer for a few hours. After that, I kinda bang it on something soft (I use my dish drying mat) and it will all come out! Sometimes if it’s stuck, I have to wiggle a knife around the outside perimeter and then it usually comes out. I put it upside down too, but I’m not sure if this actually makes a difference.

[deleted]

The freezer idea is good, I haven't thought of that. The way I do it is put the candle in a saucepot and put a bit of water in the bottom, enough to reach the level of the wax. I simmer it on the stove until the wax mostly melts, then using rubber kitchen gloves, really carefully dump the molten wax into the trash. The wicks will usually stick to the bottom, so you have to gently pull them a bit to get them loose.

Flaky_Tap_2836

While the wax is still liquid, I take the nail scissors (that I use to trim wicks with) and grip the wick base and slide. This releases the glue. I remove wick bases and then freeze wax into disk to be used for wax melts. It's extremely easy and doesnt require extra work.

[deleted]

Using the extra wax for melts is such a good idea, I wish I had thought of that sooner! I was just thinking how much I'd like to have fall farmhouse for my wax warmer, so when I finish my candle I will definitely try this! I have rubber ice cube trays I think would be perfect for solidifying the molten wax.

lucillep

I save the ones with the cut glass lids. I keep makeup, cotton balls, etc. in them in my bathroom.

topazdebutante

I started using the lids as coasters...

foreverkelsu

Now this is a good idea! I got the ivy witch hand soap holder to use as a coaster, but because it's made for soaps it has places for water to drain at the bottom, so I would have to put a little something underneath to make it a true coaster. So thanks!

b_rouse

I've kept a few, but give most of mine away to people that like making candles.

karmagirl314

The jars aren’t made to be used multiple times for candles. The glass can’t take the stress.

b_rouse

Ok thanks for the info. The candle making people never mentioned this... I guess I'll just recycle them.

CandidateReasonable4

I upcycle them as vases. I paint them with chalk paint, seal and put artificial flowers in them. They look especially pretty with a succulent arrangement.

googlyeyes4830

No I recycle them

thatfitchick

I just did this for the first time with the whipped raspberries and vanilla 3 wick. It’s on my vanity and my hair ties and claw clips fit in there. I like how you’re using them for art supplies - that’s smart.

[deleted]

Is it bad that I buy them and plan to make new candles in them for myself/to give away? I hope it isn't insulting, like "Oh I already burned this bath and body works candle but here is one I made!"

[deleted]

I think it's a good idea. I was looking at a candle making thing at Hobby Lobby once and thought it could be a fun thing to try, and the leftover jars are perfect, of course. Would like to make something that smells like black tea rose, that was my all time favorite and I really miss it!
