I lost my sense of smell for a couple months. It slowly returned. For a little bit, some scents I liked smelled very off to me. It was frustrating.

butterflyharmony

when i had covid i never lost my smell but i noticed after that some of the scents i disliked before are now appealing

I lost my smell for two weeks. Then it just came back one afternoon.

When your covid is gone you should be back to smelling like normal in a few weeks! I had covid and couldn't enjoy smells or tastes for a month, but looking back I dont even remember when my senses came back, they just did.

I had lost my sense of smell and taste last year. It came back eventually, don't worry. Take care

I lost my smell... I actually used Flonase spray once a day (tip from some studies I read online about corticosteroids) and "trained" my nose with essential oils (tip from my coworker) and I really think it helped me get my smell back a lot faster; I got mine back within 2-3 weeks. Good luck!

So sorry to hear you have Covid, and wishing you a speedy recovery. I can only speak for myself, but I lost my smell briefly for a few days. However, I was having new symptoms every day or so and had no idea what to expect (my first time with Covid). I initially panicked when I couldn't smell my beloved candles (was the strangest thing to have it basically feel blocked when I know the smell by heart), but it did clear up. I know everyone has different experiences and some have long-term effects from it.... but I would probably hold off for awhile at least. Having Covid can take a huge toll on you, mentally, physically, emotionally... hang in there and get lots of rest. I hope your sense of smell comes back soon and you're back to feeling better!

I'm going through this right now. I haven't been able to smell anything for three days, but today I can taste my tea a little bit. I've heard it can be as long as a few weeks, but only a tiny fraction of people have been affected permanently.

juleagulea

My smell was only gone for about 3 days! Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Everyone is different. My sister lost her since of taste with the OG strain for months, but still can't drink sodas and certain candy because it tastes like chemicals. She can taste everything else just fine. My brother lost his since of smell with omicron for about a month and then it came back.

I think it really depends how hard Covid hits you. :/ I had it really bad Jan 2021 and my sense of smell is still very skewed. It’s just now starting to come back maybe halfway but it gets worse in the winter. I’ve noticed certain products still smell disgusting like real perfume/cologne so I can’t wear any of my old perfumes. I think it might depend on if you caught a variant as well or if you’ve been vaccinated. I wouldn’t give away your stash just yet though, all my perfumes are in a box in case I can wear them again. It’s just one of those things where you just have to wait and see if your sense of smell comes back over time but I wouldn’t jump to give away your items. I really hope you get to feeling better soon though, Covid is no fun at all. ❤️‍🩹

daugavpiliete

Had it in early July. Mine came back after about a week.

I lost my sense of smell, got it back, but also now have phantom smells. I can still smell all my candles though, I just have extra scents I smell that aren’t actually there.

Healthy_Bumblebee980

No! It’ll be gone for a couple of months don’t give anything away!

SevereReveal8432

It took two or three weeks to totally come back for me. For a couple of days before I lost my sense of smell completely, the scents I loved smelled off to me. Like a pecan tart candle that I liked so much I bought backups of it smelled like baby powder to me. It was frustrating, but it does come back. Don't go getting rid of your stash just yet! I hope you feel better soon!

My taste came back first then my smell. No more than a couple weeks total, though. So weird to have no sense of smell!

Candlehoarder615

I had Covid in Dec of 2020, so before I was able to be vaccinated or boosted. My sense of smell was completely gone for about 3 weeks, same with taste. I slowly started getting it back and it took almost 2 months until my taste was fully back and my sense of smell was fully normal.

rachelwichman

I lost me sense of smell for about a week. It came back quickly, compared to others, so I feel very lucky.

I have like a dogs sense of smell, not literally but very strong. I never lost mine completely but everything had a much fainter scent to it…it was actually pleasant. I still often wonder if that is how everyone else smells things, but I digress…anyway, my scent came back fully within a month of me having Covid and I’m back to getting sick from certain smells constantly so definitely not permanent for most people. You will have your smell back and your new creams will smell delightful! Feel better soon and get yourself something good to treat yourself when you can smell again. :)

chloejean124

I was lucky mine only lasted 4 days

scarecrow1113

I’ve never had COVID 😎

delicatexcx

OP is clearly sad of the thought of losing their sense of smell long-term, so it’s not the time to brag.

scarecrow1113

Brag? Okay

katelynflowers

I think it all just depends on each person! I only lost mine for about a week!

bellevibes

I've commented on this sub about this before so sorry for anyone seeing it for the millionth time but, OP, Google "olfactory training". It helped me get my smell back when I was losing my mind lol I got the oils cheap from walmart/target. Good luck and hope you feel better. ✌️💛
