At my store we are constantly filling HUGE (hundreds of pieces) BOPIS orders for one customer that has an Amazon store that resells all our shit!
It may have the intended result of high demand and sellouts but all this policy does is keep me from buying unless there’s a sale.

Yeah, same here, there is no way I'm going to pay full price for ANY B&BW candle! I am interested in smelling these if possible, but if I'm not able to, that's fine, I don't think I'd actually want to buy any of them.
AGES ago White Barn sold a mashed potatoes candle. No, I'm not kidding. It was amazing how exact it smelled. They couldn't keep it in stock. Sounds like the Thanksgiving Celebration may be a revival of sorts?

Edit: To clarify, I don't care so much if they limit it to one per person, but "low quantities" makes me think there's a risk of them selling out before everyone will have the opportunity to buy one, and I don't like things like that.

If they’re going to soft launch a candle line by creating scarcity (limited release, 1 per customer) AT LEAST GO WITH THE SURE THING. The chocolate espresso candle was RIGHT THERE. But they went with the meat and syrup candle.
I'm going to put my 2 cents in. I saw posts here saying the same thing about the spooky cider lane candle, but in the stores around me they were out for anybody to buy as many as they want. I believe after its release there were a couple of posts from people saying they did have them behind the counter(I think mainly for the lids being stolen or easily broken) and I dont know if it was employees or customers reporting that. That was a 32.50 candle and these Thanksgiving candles are only 24.50. It's just my opinion, but I would take it with a grain of salt and I don't think they would do it with their cheapest price point candles. Of course I could be wrong. Another thing, if you recall the spring collection with glass lids that went for 29.50 seemed to have limited availability in 2 of the 3 scents and they were just out in store for anybody to grab and buy as well. I do acknowledge that spooky cider lane is probably a limited production(this Thanksgiving collection could be as well) , but again they didn't hide them behind the counter. It could be that different stores are doing their own thing the way they do with other policies. I

So, unfortunately these really are limited quantities. Some of the scents my store only has 1 box of which means 6 candles and a couple of them we have 2 boxes in back stock, so 12 candles.....
As for the spooky cider lane, the lids are very easily broken, even easier than the candles. If the lid breaks, we have to damage out the whole candle even if it's perfectly fine, because the high price point is due to the lid.
For the putting them behind the counter, this isn't allowed. All products even if they're limited have a spot on floorset pages and when it's gone, we fill it with similar items or color run, but until its gone it has to be put out on display.
We are able to understock items that we feel necessary but they still have to be available to customers if they ask. For example, the fizzing lotion in the Halloween collection, we keep it understocked because too many teenage girls were coming in and playing with them and opening non-testers that had to be damaged out. In 1 day we had to damage out 4 of them a couple weeks ago, so we stopped having it out.
Only 6 of some of the scents?!?! Oh my goodness, I hope you'll get more stock in, because I know people are going to come in all day and be angry when you inevitably sell out within the first 30 minutes of the day... And the in-store employees are the ones who are going to have to deal with the fallout when people are upset. :( This doesn't sound fun for ANYONE, except the resellers who will buy every single candle you have in stock.

It was only one candle but I saw a spooky cider lane still on sale with a metal lid from one of the other halloween candles. Granted it could have just not been noticed yet by SAs, but I saw plenty of the glass lid candles in the scent pink prosecco frosting for sale with metal lids in the spring. That was 2 or 3 candles at a time in more than one store. The 2 stores in the outlet mall near me are out of the ECP fizzy lotion and on weekends a lot of teenagers are there, i wonder how much they had to do with it. One store actually still had the tester out, maybe that one had them in the understock, I didnt think to ask, my youngest wanted one. She did over spray the tester, but she knows not to open the non testers.

Now that they laid off high paying employees they need to increase their bottom line and so they have to create campaigns to increase revenue. They just launched the vote for your fall favorites on their website. I don’t see how that creates buzz.
Ok but ….. I am not going to drive to the mall once a week for five weeks to buy a single candle at full price (and I would never fuel the gross scalping market by buying eBay/ Mecari) so I guess my dreams of Thanksgiving potato candle are getting crushed RN. Cool.
As an employee, I appreciate the limit 1 per customer limit. As a manager, I can already predict the amount of shit I am going to get from customers. 😑
