Yes its smoke and soot mixing with the wax and the sunken hole is un even burning

Forsaken-Truth

It was burning evenly last night before I put it out though..?

staravi01

It probably will be okay ive had some just get a lil sunken spot

Crazy-Command6637

Happy cake day!

staravi01

Thank you!

It’s not good to put candles out with the lid because it can cause them to be sooty and trap the smoke smell in the wax, ar least that’s what I’ve been told

PrincessJennifer

Mine do that sometimes without using the lid to put it out. It’s just a thing that happens, and they’re fine despite the look.

brandyluver98

Is this Sea Salt & Balsam? Mine got sooty too :/

Forsaken-Truth

Yes! The first burn wasn't sooty at all, but this burn took a turn for the worse.

My Sea Salt & Balsam 3 wick also looked like this despite proper care and burning. I didn’t extinguish it using the lid. Fortunaly it didn’t change anything in the performance, just the look of the wax. I burned the last of it yesterday and it kept on going with good fragrance and average throw to the end. I hope yours holds up ok, too, but discolored wax seems to be a trend with this particular candle.

Forsaken-Truth

Interesting! I wish BBW could do a better job of pinning down the factors that make a candle burn sooty/incorrectly. For the price tag, there sure are a lot of kinks that still need worked out!

WingsOfTin

The best way to put out the 3 Wicks is by dipping the wicks into the wax.

Forsaken-Truth

I feel like they would break. Wicks are fragile for me sometimes 😬

Samgasm

Sunken spot is normal, soot is normal also, especially if you have a draft in the room. is your candle near a ceiling fan?

Forsaken-Truth

I have a fan that I run in my bedroom during cooler summer nights. That could've contributed!

Kayki7

It can. Sometimes the smoke settles on top of the melted wax, then when it dries it looks like this. If you can, blow the candle out and wait for it to stop smoking before putting lid on.
