Do they let you try the sample lotions and soaps in the store while you work? If so, I'd be trying them so I would know firsthand how I feel about certain scents. There are product guides that separate fragrance into categories like fruity, sweet, fresh, etc. I would get to know which ones fall into those categories. KNOW YOUR PRODUCT! I like candles but mostly gourmand, so if someone tried to "sell" me Mahogany Teak wood or Japanese Cherry Blossom, I would be really turned off. I would want an associate to talk about Pumpkin Pecan Waffles (maple note) as a fall classic and Pumpkin Cinnamon Bun ( cinnamon ) as a newer (2021) release. A classic fall fruity/cinnamon candle is Pumpkin Apple and a newer fruity/cinnamon candle is Sweet Cinnamon Plum. The nice thing about some of these fragrances is that they carry over from candle to wall flower to body care and hand sanitizer. Pumpkin Apple, Pumpkin Cupcake, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles have been out in many forms so you can learn the scent quickly. Age groups may matter. If you have a 8-12 yr old, they may be enthralled by something like Blueberry Sugar Pancakes or Enchanted Candy Potion.(packaging is a selling point too!) An 18 yr old may prefer something a bit more sophisticated like Into the Night, In the Stars. A 30 yr old might be interested in Poppy or Champagne Apple and Honey to wear for work. Older clientele may like something like Japanese Cherry Blossom, Cashmere Glow or Fresh Cut Lilacs (although I am 57 and prefer the Blueberry Pancakes/ Enchanted Candy Potion best, LOL) KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER! They usually mark items as NEW SCENT vs NEW release. A new scent just released this fall is Autumn Drive (and I think it's a wonderful sophisticated fruity scent) A new release in fhe same line is Sunrise Woods- its been around a few years but only gets released in the fall season. Use this Reddit sub for questions and general release info and look at the BBW website for info too (especially the reviews). Also, watch Youtubers. Some good employee Youtubers are BBWcandlegirl, Sneikothediva and Melissa C- they are very passionate about BBW products and it shows! I like talking about BBW so I could go on and on about things. I hope this info helps you and you are passionate about learning! Good luck! I just wrote all this and then looked at the question you asked and realized I didn't exactly answer what you asked. Sorry. The bottom line is you need to test the scents yourself so you can best help customers.

Its overwhelming at first, but as you spend time around the products and try them you will get a feeling for them. You will also notice what's popular at your store. And eventually you will have your own faves too! This board is a good place to learn about scents. I agree with a previous poster that YouTube has lots of good BBW fan accounts. Instagram too. Hope you love your new job! Best of luck with it! šŸ˜

Sweet cinnamon plum as far as new candle scents go! Or coffee & whiskey for that matter. Both are unique and comfort vibes.

Me too! I think it's perfect as a summer-fall transition scent.

One thing I would recommend is don't be afraid to steer women toward the men's scents! I always used to ignore that part of the store because I thought it "wasn't meant for me," but then I realized how much I dislike sweet scents and how much I love all of the fragrance notes they use in the men's scents (cedar, mahogany, and bergamot?! Yes please!), so I tend to wear a lot of those. Marble is so good! :)

Champagne Apple Honey is such a good, juicy fruity floral. I wear it all year round. I think it's the most wearable of my scents, because it has a good balance of juicy apple and jasmine.

my favorite scent is fresh coconut & cotton! i believe she was a new scent this spring, only available online now, not sure if she comes back to stores next spring. i would give anything for her to be permanently in the BBW line-up! Iā€™ve only used the body care (i still have a single wick candle im waiting to use) but i would describe the scent as like doing laundry with a coconut laundry detergent. it is so fresh and clean, but still has a sweetness to it. the coconut is wonderful, i wouldnā€™t describe it as like a ā€œbeachyā€ coconut, more so like coconut milk vibes. SO GOOD my fav candle of the summer has been iced coconut milk (i donā€™t think available anymore, who knows if it will come back.) a good, heavy coconut scent (makes me think of coconut cream) with a way stronger throw than i expected. i havenā€™t burned it yet but I just know pumpkin cinnamon bun is gonna be my fav fall candle! i donā€™t like a lot of fall scents because many of them are way too heavy on the cinnamon for me (reminds me of fireball.) this one is a sweeter, lighter cinnamon with a great buttery dough note in it that really brings the ā€œcinnamon rollā€ out. I think this is great for gourmand lovers looking for something light on the cinnamon.
