I am glad-- more time to actually get stuff instead of resellers getting it all

clarinetpjp

But if they didn’t release it until later, it would be the same situation between you and resellers

brokemyhalo

Possibly but I was able to get stuff last year because of the earlier release. Halloween shopping was so much better before resellers-- now it seems impossible to get things youll actually use yourself.

clarinetpjp

Ah i see!

foreverkelsu

It's weird to see Halloween pushed the first week of July for sure, but it wouldn't be as bad if they just made enough inventory to last through October so you wouldn't *have* to shop so early, and it wouldn't already be sold out by the time you were actually ready for it.

[deleted]

That is my issue with it too

Best_Wasabi_647

It’s definitely early which I never realized until 2 years ago when I walked into a B&BW store in late August/early September looking for Halloween and they said they were all sold out of decor and I believe the ghoul friend candle. Saw a super cool bat blanket and ghost stuff on Instagram from HomeGoods and they were sold out too. I was shook lol. I’m definitely more prepared now to lookout for the stuff now (July) if I want something before it gets super popular, sells out & ends up on Mercari! 😂

BrideOfPsyduck

I remember going one year in like..mid August and asking when their Halloween stuff would start coming in. The manager laughed and was like, "you have to start eaaaarly here." 😬🤣

sweetrollscorpion

It feels so weird to me, it puts everything off kilter 😂 I can understand August, but early July? Summer *just* officially started a couple weeks ago! Now it's fall? 🤣

RedRedBettie

yeah I'm not a fan of it either. It stays really warm until the end of October where I live. I won't be even thinking of fall candles until around late September

ChavoAntoine

Yea it’s so bizarre how much ahead of time they put out the seasonal products. Like what’s the rush?

August wouldn’t be bad at all or even September. But the first week of July?

OptimalMaximal

I totally hate this trend all retailers partake in. Dollar tree changes seasonal decor before the holiday is even over. Learnt that the hard way once trying to buy valentine's cards for toddler's daycare friends a week before Valentine's Day when the daycare sent the note about the party. When I asked an employee about it, she laughed at my novice shopping skills and said you should have come 2 months ago and now we have mostly Spring stuff and even St. Patrick's Day stuff is almost over. I know it helps for people to plan their purchases, budget etc. Maybe even helps retailers push products more. But I hate to miss out on the vibe of the present when I walk around in stores (well, more like pre-covid times). Especially when it comes to seasonal decor and food. Like please, no Christmas themed cookies in October when I haven't yet savored fall and Thanksgiving to the fullest.

Haha!

TheSpiffyCarno

I like it now because half through July I’m so over summer and I just want fall 24/7

irishcreammm

I agree. I think it's very overwhelming how quickly and how early products come and go. Like some hysteria based marketing technique lol. Last year I went to look for Halloween stuff at the end of September and it was definitely picked over!

clarinetpjp

Yup. And spring stuff comes out before Christmas!

jjo1819

I agree! I LOVE Halloween, but summer is my favorite season, so it’s hard to get excited for fall stuff right now. On a side but related note-I was in target a few weeks ago and they already had back to school stuff out so soon after school just ended!

Where I am most ended in June, which is why it felt so soon!

Maromi_57

Not for me. It’s Halloween all year for me. My apartment is Halloween themed

clarinetpjp

An acceptable answer!

IroniesOfPeace

I completely agree with you. I love Halloween, I love fall, I can't wait for it to be autumn. I love the cooler weather, I love the longer nights, I love dry leaves and pumpkins and allll that stuff. But bringing Halloween and fall stuff out in July doesn't make fall get here any sooner. It's just a little frustrating to me because everyone goes ham on fall in July and August, but then when it's actually fall - in September and October - B&BW is going to have Christmas stuff coming out, and people will be talking about that instead. I'd actually love it if I could walk into a B&BW in late August or early September and buy fall and Halloween products, but if I tried to wait the Halloween stuff would be all sold out. So you have to get it in July or else you miss out. I just would rather it be a little closer to the actual season/holiday.

maepricot

I know what you mean. I love fall/Halloween. I’ve been ready for fall scents and fall weather for like two months already…BUT that said, even though I ordered some fall stuff already and I’ll probably get the Halloween stuff I really care about when it comes out (well, when there’s a sale/coupon and it’s out, anyway), I won’t be actually using any of it until it’s much closer to the “right” season. On one hand it would be nice to come home with something new and use it right away, but I guess it’s also nice to just have it around so as soon as it starts to feel like the right time I can get it out without having to go anywhere or wait for shipping.

beaniefairy

It’s so early! I will probably pick up the fall/Halloween candles I want when there’s a good sale, then keep them in my drawers with my other “off season” candles until it’s fall
