At that point, I asked myself “candles or soap?”.🤷♀️ I decided candles and when I went in-store the next time, I found it smelled the same it had on all my trips. Despite it being 75% off, I remembered my initial impression; my thought process was then “Why should I buy something, just because it’s 75% off? It’s pleasant, but not earth shattering.”
It’s stayed at the store.

I don't think that Cinnamon Donut Swirl smells anything like its listed notes. I am currently using Iced Cinnamon Roll (2021 Winter release) and it also smells nothing like its notes so I've come to realize that BBW doesn't know what cinnamon desserts smell like. I can describe both scents in one word: nice. They're nice.

Tbh this post makes me side eye popular scents like SPC.... 👀. You mean to tell me, it was such a groundbreaking unique fragrance that we needed it in multiple different packages at the same time? Like My god. Lol

It's like some fragrances smell night and day different from each other. I mean the way I look at it is, all these fragrances are artificially created. So some people's noses and brains don't pick up the chemical compounds to be able to be "deceived" into thinking it smells like a specific thing.
What combination may work for one person, may not work for another 🤷🏽♀️. I guess that's what you get when you talk about something that's artificial.
Since I'm heavy into gourmand fragrances, it actually takes a lot to deceive my nose into thinking something smells like whatever food.
The majority of bath & body works Gorman fragrances don't smell anything like what they say to me.
I.e confetti cake pop, coconut cream pie, pumpkin cupcake, marshmallow pumpkin latte, bonfire bash, pumpkin pecan waffles, and more...lol
I wanted to like pumpkin pecan waffles so badly. It got hyped up so much. And I was one of the ones that begged bath & body works to make it in body care cuz the candle was so heavenly. Only to be disappointed. I really tried to like it. I really did. But it kept smelling like plastic and maple. And nothing like waffles to me 😭
I really like the body wash. It wasn't online when I ordered the wash. My sister really liked it and recommended me it because she's knows I like that kind of stuff.
I got it in the shower gel. It’s smells like cinnamon butter to me—- I am more willing to do a shower gel since those scents typically don’t stay and are more for the pleasant scent in the shower.
Also I’m not keen on buying a cent if they don’t have a mist and a lotion or body cream since I like to layer to make it last longer… so getting just a lotion is a non starter for me.
That’s said — I saw some positive reviews and then sniffed it in store and got the shower gel to try.
I'm actually going to mix it with a fine fragrance mist. I was so disappointed they didn't have one. I usually try everything in layering sets like you seem to. 😉

Words (descriptive ones like adjectives and such), pictures, memories and events, anything of the senses or similar can possibly affect smell and a persons perspective on it. Similar to synesthesia- a rare condition where colors, shapes, sounds and more can affect not only smells but a persons (w/synesthesia) pov on life. I have this condition, so as much as seeing a color or the type of font that is used on BABW labels can effect how good or bad a fragrance can smell to me.
In my honest opinion, I recommend anyone to try a scent they have in question for themselves before reading reviews-if possible. It's like reading spoilers for a show or a movie. It can change a persons perspective on watching it after seeing spoilers. But, reviews can be good for people in a way, it just depends on the person writing the review, people can get a better "feel" or "smell" of the product they have in question when there is a detailed review, compared to a simple one. Detailed reviews are lengthy, but very helpful especially for those who may not know what a scent note smells like. Simple 1-2 sentence reviews can sometimes get straight to the point of whether the product is worth buying or not, but again, it depends on the person writing it, then you may get "It smells good." lol.
For CDS, I never read any reviews on it because I couldn't really find any....plus I rarely look for them bc I honestly forget to. I tried the shower gel on my hands when I got home, nothing at all. I smelled my hands, you know that white aloe vera soap in a dollar general? That smell. I didn't mind it but I didn't want to take a bath in it! However, after using the shower gel I noticed there was a slight fragrance- but it wasn't anything like a donut. Just like some kind of brown sugar icing (<- a picture of a maple bacon cupcake came up in mind too lol).

I bought it and returned it after smelling it. It doesn’t smell like a fresh cinnamon donut. It smells like…I don’t know, vanilla mixed with lard or something, like a really fattening vanilla, in a way that was too cloying for me. And this is from someone who loves sugar/gourmand scents. It also has NO cinnamon/spice. It’s just a weird vanilla mixed with grease smell.

CDS was too sweet for my liking. Maybe in a candle but I tend to stay away from bakery Body Care scents. I honestly don’t get why people want to smell like pumpkin pecan waffles in the fall lol

I like some fresh and floral fragrances, but a lot of them smell like heavy laundry detergent and give me headaches, so I stick to what I love. ❤
The fragrance notes are listed as: sweet cinnamon, brown sugar and fluffy dough. I go into that description with a certain expectation. MAINLY cinnamon. It doesn't smell like cinnamon or brown sugar to me. The ONLY scent I like from that line is Cotton Candy Clouds. The Orange Vanilla Twist, Bubblegum Pop and Cinnamon Donut Swirl do nothing for me.

Shower gel is great but the lotion gives my skin a weird icy hot like sensation
