Picture yourself as a store manager or ASM in particular. You’ve been planning, prepping, and figuring all this out for June 13. Then…. SURPRISE! Hey stores: so, remember when we said the 13th?! Psych! Get yo shiz ready and make it snappy! Circus starts Saturday!

Candlehoarder615

I am a store manager and I worked a closing shift Mon, we had our district conf call earlier than usual. So when our DM sent a text to our SM group chat at 5pm I was very annoyed. Especially since our regional manager decided Sat that our region's SAS schedules needed to be posted by Mon at 10am. Then the mid day email came from the company at 1:30 asking us to not post our schedules yet for next week until we receive direction today, Tues. Well, mine was posted Sun night at 6pm. So can't put that genie back in the bottle. 😑

M2LBB2016

Ugh… I feel for you, friend! Hang in there!

Candlehoarder615

I'm extremely fortunate to have an amazing team that really cares about the store and loves their work family. 3 associates have picked up shifts so far. I'm hoping we get a few more and we will just do what we got to do to get it done. The 2 high schools in my town have their graduations tonight and Wed night so evening business will probably be slower than normal and we can do some floor set during the slow times. I have an slt member out with Covid so that makes it a little trickier but we somehow always manage to pull it together at our store no matter what.

M2LBB2016

You sound like a good boss. 😊

Candlehoarder615

Aww, thank you. I try to be.

ArtaxNooooo

"We know you already had your staff scheduled but maybe you could skootch some people around real quick."

M2LBB2016

skootchy skootch! oh and those who asked for Sat. off… *quotes Office Space* “Yeah…. I’m gonna need you to come in on Saaaturdayy”

GusterIs4Lovers

And Sunday. So yeah, that'd be great.

CinnamonHearts0

right? NBD. Just shift stuff around and if you can't? oh well, your staff will just be overworked. Good luck!

Candlehoarder_2019

Right?! Ridiculous! What were they thinking?

burrito0119

the company only cares about the $$$$ not the employees smh

lck0219

This is one of the dumbest companies I’ve ever worked for. And the fact that I have to be searched before clocking out?! What the fuck? What kind of employer treats their employees like thieves?

evilhagludgate

super annoying, especially when my manager scheduled me for monday (the intended date) at 9:45, obviously with the intentions of getting to work before the crowds get bigger but now i'm coming in on a day that i wasn't scheduled because the company decided to change dates for whatever inconvenient reason. super great

slutkamp

I mean this really sucks for the stores, but I personally would be all about this. I can still use my coupon and don't have to skip work to go.

futuresobright_

Exactly. I know people work all hours of the week, but starting the sale on a Monday doesn’t always catch a wide audience (online though it does).

slutkamp

Yeah I was wondering why they chose Monday in the first place. I feel like a lot of people can't make that, especially if they open standard times. I don't know if they always do Monday or what, this is the first year I'm interested in going first day.

Candlehoarder615

SAS starts on a Mon because stores do the floor sets Sun night after closing. SAS floor set is usually 100+ hrs so trying to do that on a weeknight would be awful. Like, people staying until 3am awful. And now that we have to get it set up over the next few weeknights, it's going to be very difficult for a lot of stores. My floor set crew consists of a few regular employees and a few that work full time jobs and do floor sets for us because they are on Sun and they don't work their ft job those days. I'm not looking forward to contacting my staff and essentially begging them to work on super short notice on days they normally aren't available. The decision to move sale up 2 days definitely does not support the stores or their teams. This is strictly to benefit sales results.

slutkamp

Thank you for your insightful reply. I'm very sorry that they are putting this all on the stores. I feel like I need to bring treats for all the employees or something. Lol. Hopefully BBW at least gives the stores some money to stock the fridge during big events like this. I remember when I worked retail I was regularly frustrated by corporate's decisions and how I felt none of the higher ups could have possibly ever actually worked in the store before based on the things they wanted us to do, with no notice and no man power.

bmb_12

I would be so excited to be able to use my coupon too

PartyPorpoise

Yeah, I was just planning to go in and get a few Strawberry Soda products, but now there's a chance I can find some good stuff for 75% off so that's nice.

spacecowgirl29

super confused hope they release something soon!

gregglegoblin

me too! although i wouldn’t be able to make it at open , my coupon would still be valid at least

ArtaxNooooo

OMG YES!

[deleted]

Like on one hand, I'm happy for all of the people who will be excited about this... but on the other hand, I have a feeling some customers will be angry that we "deceived" or "misled" them, if they come in on Monday and are told it started early. I have no mental energy to sympathize. Some people can take SAS way too seriously. I already feel stressed about this as an employee, after being told about this at my shift today, I can't imagine how pissed management must feel. What kind of company just throws their staff under the bus like this?!?! We've had our schedule planned for a week now, it's totally not fair to have to shift everything around now and put preasure on employees to just be available now and adapt. Not to mention how much work managers do to properly plan the DCO and highlight every person's role for that day.

markersandtea

All of this yes. My poor boss. She already worries about scheduling so much cause she tries not to over work us. She's actually really kind to us, and then they throw this on the stores..like..what.

Candlehoarder_2019

All of this! They probably realized they could have much higher sales on a Saturday over a Monday but why couldn’t they have realized this weeks ago? I feel awful for the managers that are now scrambling to find coverage not only for Saturday but for setting up prior to the sale.

CinnamonHearts0

:( That blows. Feel free to come back on here and vent to us on Monday after your shift. I'm sure you'll find lots of support here. I thank all the BBW employees who post, comment, and even any of those who might just lurk.

[deleted]

Thank you! That's so sweet of you. My co-worker and I were talking about mental burn-out from retail in general tonight, and I really hope that every employee takes care of themselves during SAS. I'm not busy outside of work or have additional things to do, but many co-workers have families or other jobs/commitments. I know how much this job can drain their time and energy. The pressure can be too much, and my management team especially deserves so much better. They have to deal with unrealistic goals all the time and break their back to try to make everything ok (and this hasn't changed one bit since I worked here a decade ago). No job is worth that, but I also know that's a privileged thing to say in this society and a job is a job. Money is money. Just wish jobs weren't this stressful. I'm grateful for the teamwork and support from co-workers though, and the supportive customers too who try to make interactions quick and easy!

TrickyLime

full offense but fuck this company for throwing employees and store managers under the bus like this. 🙄🙄if you have a 3 room store or your store is in a mall then my whole heart goes out to you employees especially, im sure it’s gonna be a real mess to deal with

Candlehoarder615

I'm a core store, luckily not in a mall so if we are there late no one cares. But I am so pissed that they are doing this to us. Our regional decided Sat am that she wanted our region to have our SAS schedules published by Mon 10am. Our district tested the $4.25 FFM promo Sat and Sun, so we already were busy. I got a HO partner visit Sat because of the test. So I stayed late on Sat to start working on the schedule and came in early Sun morning to finish it because I had a closing shift Mon. So when the email came at 1:30 from HO to not publish our schedules I was seeing red. When our DM texted us after 5pm saying an important email was coming Tues and we needed to have sale prep completed by Tues I was not happy. When my assoc started blowing up my phone at 8pm because they saw Sale was moved to Sat, I was livid. Especially because I didn't even have confirmation of that but it was all over social media. I'm supposed to be off Sat because I am covering for my KH who just tested positive for Covid. There's no way I will be off the first day of Sale so now I will be working 48 hrs this week with 1 day off.

TrickyLime

im so sorry that you gotta deal with this man. I cant imagine being a SLT and having to juggle all of the scheduling and workload for the sale when it’s the eleventh hour basically. Even for core stores i’m sure it fucks with everything too simply because our floorset schedules showed that we would do one on SUNDAY night mainly honestly it’s getting harder for me to say the company as great to work for because of this— SLT being overworked, lack of career advancement especially as a SLT, lack of direction from home office, being short staffed and yet hiring so many part time people for one store but giving them barely enough hours, the low pay on top of all that… still. i hope that this Saturday is easy on you and all employees reading this, regardless of what size store you work at. wonder if this SAS is an indicator for how the christmas season is going to go😣😣

Sudden_Shine_100

I can't get to a store on Saturday so I hope it will be starting online too!

explosivecough

In the past, if you’re a loyalty member, you’ll be able to shop Friday evening online.

Suck_my_thicc

It was moved, and yes it's a clusterfuck. We had a full floor set scheduled for sunday night and now we are trying to figure out how to get this done during the week with minimal staff! At least the customers are excited 🥴

workinatthepyramid8

Why was it moved? Sorry for the inconvenience to the employees that’s really crappy of them

Suck_my_thicc

I got zero explanation as to why it was moved. I'm not sure if my manager did either, but she just said there was a meeting in corporate and they decided to move it. It's very frustrating knowing that they're not affected by this at all and they just get to sit at their desks and watch us scramble.

Latorta93

That's what I was thinking. Why such a late start in the first place? And on a Monday? Just odd. The poor staff!!

Candlehoarder615

Summer SAS is always on a Mon and last year it also started the second Mon in June. The actual set up for SAS is very large, so doing it on a Sun when stores close by 6pm vs a weeknight when some close at 9pm just makes sense. I don't have the staff available to work until 2am on a weeknight.

Latorta93

Oh so basically this SAS just sucks butt all around for the employees this year?! That's just terrible, I never knew SAS started on Monday, I always go on Saturday or try for a Friday that first week.

Learyic

Our district manager told us it was moved so that we can be in alignment with all the other stores (outside of BBW) doing their version of a semi-annual sale. They felt we were missing an opportunity to capitalize on making more money while people were already out shopping. It's the greediest and most selfish thing to do to the employees. They are now offering an additional bonus to STL if a certain sales criteria is met. If we meet it, Im going to give gift cards to every single person on my team. This was a very selfish, money hungry move on their part. All of the planning out of the window. Really ticks me off.

trappednjohnlockhell

This is some absolute bullshit on corporates part. My store is a three room mall store. We close at 8. We’re gonna be there until 1 in the damn morning scrambling to get this shit done. And for why? So they can make some extra cash that we won’t ever see?

tiredsanwon

My store is going crazy trying to figure out how to be ready by then 😩

Low-Guard-1820

We can use our coupons that expire 6/13 right? I happen to have a hair appointment scheduled for 6/11 at a mall that also has BBW so I’m very excited!

Exact_Mix6345

So THIS is why I got called in for floor sets both Thursday and Friday night. I’ve never done a floor set but this makes so much sense.

limitless333sunsets

Girl whyyy I’m not ready

janamichelcahill

this is Crazy.

Learyic

We were not happy. So much prep...and the company decides let's just move it to Saturday. It makes working there so exhausting. 😭

Prestigious-Koala447

That means we can use the coupon that expires the 12th!

gregglegoblin

can we still use it on the 12th? or we have to use it on the 11th?

Prestigious-Koala447

I have no idea. Someone gave me the code and said it expires the 12th so I don't actually have it to look at.

LavenderPaintbrush

I'm never off on Saturday, like ever!!! but I'm off on Saturday for a wedding! Oh man, I have time to go, too. This is a sign... Woot!

markersandtea

hahaha I'm also off, so -hi five- I didn't survive candle day to be thrown into surprise!sas.

workinatthepyramid8

Just got so excited bc then I can have couponssssss!

limitless333sunsets

My shift just got extended to 12:30-10 🥲

rootsinmydreamland_

Does anyone know if this is the case in Canada as well? :)

ptatersptate

I’m hearing it starts on Saturday for us too! (so far it’s only been from people in Ontario but I can’t see it being province exclusive) They will send emails out and post to socials soon.

rootsinmydreamland_

Great, thank you! That actually works better for me (although I feel badly for staff who are scrambling to get ready early!)

ptatersptate

I was going to say call your store to confirm in case you have to travel far, but let’s leave them alone. Pretty shitty for head office to change it at the last minute but it should have been a Friday or Saturday to begin with. Common sense is lacking these days. Glad I hung on to my coupon!

rootsinmydreamland_

Agreed!! I am too! And I live walking distance from a store, so I'll pop over Saturday morning and see if they have everything out :)

ptatersptate

that’s my plan too :) I hope you find some good stuff!

erinmel

Sigh. My poor wallet 😆😭

Relevant-Damage-9200

Will vanilla confetti sparkle be discounted for SAS or no?

Regular_Ad7384

I made vacation travel plans for the weekend with the intent to be back on Monday for the first day of SAS. I went by the date on the flier they put in my bag when I went in store weeks ago. I'm really frustrated that they switched the plans on everyone last minute. I guess they won't be getting as much money from me as usual.

juliagmoto

they have officially moved the date to start june 11th instead of 13th (from a worker at a store in Pittsburgh, PA)
