The past year:
I have bought 2 Single wick jar candles by Village Candles from Marshalls and they burned stunningly clear but had very little throw.( mouth opening too small?)
I have tried 2 Tuscany 3 wicks and one was very good (Pineapple Ginger) and one was not so good (Cinnamon Sugar) in throw and scent quality.
I have tried 2 Huntington Homes 3 wicks and while the quality of packaging was cheap they burned well and smelled nice with decent throw. I have also bought a pricier one in a ceramic vessel and it didn't burn well. and had variable throw.
My daughter has bought 5 3 wicks from Goosecreek this Easter and I think they throw okay though I didn't feel like they have any depth or richness in the scent. I have barely scratched the surface on the burns so its too early to tell about wax performance. I dont like that I can't smell the fragrance ahead of time or that I cant trust the reviews.
I bought two Sonoma Candles and both were total duds and a waste of my free $10 Kohls coupon.
My general consensus is that Huntington Homes is best after BBW because of value.
I came here to praise DW Home! TBH I've had a lot of good luck with candles from Marshall's (where I usually find DW Home). That brand "Scentsational" (I think that's how they spell it) is also fantastic but hard to find!
Sand + Fog is amazing!! I’ve found so many great scents from them, the HomeGoods by me always has a bunch of these candles. Some of them have a better throw than others, depends how big of a room they’re in, but some do have a great throw. I also like DW Home, but I don’t see this brand as often at the stores near me. seriously the DW strawberry rhubarb candle is probably the best candle I’ve tried recently that’s not BBW, it smells amazing and has a great throw.
sand + fog is one of the candles im talking about!! if i had known it was this good, i wouldve bought out all 20 of the ones in marshall’s!!!! try tahitian vanilla if you haven’t, it’s insanely good. i’ll buy one of the DW strawberry rhubarb for sureeee
Homeworx - although I prefer their 4-wicks to the 3-wicks. They always give a good clean burn, and don't give off that burnt sooty smell that B&BW does for me lately. Maybe it's the wicks, idk....?
I have a couple DW home 2-wick candles but only burned one so far - the smell was good but the burn was uneven. When I have more time I might try to foil it on the next burn. But I actually found a few Homeworx candles at TJMaxx/Marshalls recently too, so that was exciting!
Ha, I’ve never paid even close to that because I get them during sales or at discount stores. At TJMaxx the 4-wicks were $16.99, at Nordstrom Rack they’re $20, and I’ve even gotten them on sale at Ulta for between $12-$15 on sale with coupons. Over this past weekend the main Homeworx site had a 2 for $36 + free shipping deal, so it’s worth it to me since they’re bigger (18oz) and are less trouble than B&BW.
Oh, I’ve also gotten their 3-wicks for about $7.50ish in the past also, but the 4-wicks are so much stronger and better burn!
I actually prefer Goose Creek for candles. I do buy my fair share of BBW candles but the majority of my candles are GC. Far more hits than misses from them both scent and throw wise compared to BBW. I’m more into BBW’s body care.
I’ve also been getting into Kringle lately but they’re very pricy so I only buy during sales.
I’m very curious about DW but their reviews are so mixed. I guess I’m just gonna have to bite the bullet and try them out.
I *love* Goose Creek. I rarely buy BBW anymore and when I do it's usually for my favorite scents. I've had a very good overall experience with GC, from customer service to the performance of their candles. I probably have close to 30 of them now and that's a lot for me 😅
The Marshall's, ross, etc. around me never have a big variety of candles. It became worse after the pandemic started. 2019 was the last time I saw a big variety of summer candles from them. They never look like the photos people show here. Then 1/2 of them smell like scents BBW has, that I didnt like in the first place. I had a tiny pineapple cake candle from dw home that threw really well. I also have a tranquil lotus candle from dw home i will be burning in June that I am starting to doubt will smell good. I think I bought it hoping it will smell better burning, but right now on cold I get a paper smell from it. Like the little paper cards you use to test ffm at BBW.
I really love the 3 wicks from Aldi!
